Food is great. Coffee is really good. We had the Moroccan soup and shared a turkey sandwich - both were delicious.

This review is not about us getting to enjoy the high tea but the poor quality of customer service via phone. Pictured is how long the young lady who answered the phone placed me on hold, then I decided to hang up. Next photo is I decided to cancel our high tea reservations right after I hung up. It was for my daughter's 41st birthday. And all I called for was to let them know about allergies, and what kind of tea menu they have. Her reasoning for placing me on hold or calling me back was because she said she had a long line of people. As I waited I heard all the conversations going on. Honestly I think she forgot about me. I opted to wait on hold because it's difficult to get a hold of me, and I had appts to get to. When she said place me on hold I didn't think it would take over 20 minutes. At least have someone else you work with take care of the phone call if you're that busy. It's unfortunate I canceled because my friends and I have traveled different states, countries, even all around Seattle proper to have high tea or even afternoon tea. My family and I were willing to drive the almost two hours to try Cafe Tenby because none of us have even heard of this place. So I don't think we will give this place our business. As an elite all star yelper, I don't think anyone I know will also. read more

TL;DR: Better than the hyped spot, this is where you go for coffee in Port Townsend. Food: Everything we had was fresh and well thought out. The spinach and cheese pastry hit exactly how it should, and the burrito was warm, cheesy, eggy perfection. Even the hot sauce slapped. Vibe: Chill and low-key. High Tea at Cafe Tenby is a treat. This local independent cafe has a very special selection of different teas and pastries. The high tea (by appointment only) is very much worth the price. I had a robust Earl Grey Crème that had a lovely subtle vanilla twist. I'm all about the scone ms and clotted cream with jam. Yum! It can get a little warm in the summer. Don't be shy and tell the staff you are a bit flushed and they will accommodate. Warm relaxed ambiance inside makes for a pleasant tea experience. read more

Every time I come to Port Townsend I think I'llbe going somewhere different for lunch, but every time (at least once in my weekend away) my friend brings me back to her favorite, Cafe Tenby. Ordering at the front --figuring out what I want before sitting down-- is always an annoyance to me, but this is the only thing I'd change. The decor is simple, with hard chairs, not pleasant to me. BUT: BUT!! Every time I go there we order something completely different and it's always outrageously good. I mean, nicely, freshly, prepared or baked. Took a short day trip to PT to have high tea! What a great place. It's clean, friendly, and yummy. The experience is great. They sit you down, you pick out your tea from a list, but if you want something that's not on the list, you are free to. One of the people in my party did so, and they were happy to do so. The tower came out quickly and they explained what each item was. It was all delicious. We opted for royal tea (Prosecco) in addition to our tea. Another person in our party was a vegetarian and they had already asked in advance when they called a few days before to verify the reservation. There's an 18% gratuity they add on top of the charge, however they are upfront about it when they call to confirm your reservation. I had no issue with this since I typically tip 18-22%. Bottom line: it's a great place for high tea, but it's also a local favorite just for tea and food (it was suggested by a shop owner, and we said, we already had reservations for high tea). read more

The wife and I stopped here for a small sweet treat and some tea. They only had seating for reservations but that was ok because we planned to walk around the neighborhood. This place was great and while I have no idea what the little treat I had was called it was two round thin pastries with some sort of thin filling in the middle... SPECTACULAR! I have to note that the customer service was phenomenal! They were patient and kind and so engaging. I will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town. read more

We went in a little closer to closing time than I typically like to, but despite that we were still met with kind and professional service. Got a cookie and an iced americano. The cookie was amazing and the americano was a basic staple. Their largest size for the drink was 12oz which was a little bit of a surprise for me so I felt that might be helpful for some people who have someone in their life who always wants a sip or two great overall experience and had a good ambiance. read more

What a delightful tea shop this is, if I lived here I would be here almost every day. They have an excellent selection of high quality tea to choose from as well as a delicious array of baked goods, with my weakness being their scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. I didn't have a long enough stay to try everything in the pastry case, but based off of what I sampled, it would be safe to assume that any bet would be a good bet. The interior reflects the staff, warm, friendly and inviting. It is well lit, spacious and a nice space for a quick bite or a more leisurely pot of tea and a book. I hope they are here for years to come and I look forward to visiting them again the next time I am in Port Townsend. read more

Five star service!!! When I lived in PT this was my go-to place for incredible tea and delicious treats (& amazing soups in the fall&winter). But life moved me away and now I have to order my favorite teas to be shipped since nothing can top Pippas teas. I usually call in my order with payment information and within the next few days I have my order on my doorstep!! I really wanted to like this place. I've visited here several times though won't be back. Here's why: 1. Most of their teas have "natural flavoring" so you have to be careful of what you select. The flavor tastes artificial rather than relying on high quality ingredients. 2. We stopped by there today to work on our laptops, drink tea, and eventually get lunch. When we arrived all but 3 tables had RESERVED signs on them for reservations taking place 4 HOURS from the time we arrived. This is not unusual. I'm guessing the staff doesn't know how to properly manage customers comings and going's which has always left me perplexed because they lose business from this. Anyways, after we sat down and worked for a 2 hours we were told "we have lunch rush coming in, can you wrap it up?" Wow. The place was empty due to the reserved tables that weren't coming in for another 2 hours and In a better run business they wouldn't have asked us to 'wrap it up' but asked if we would like to order lunch. We were going to but passive aggressiveness, lack of customer appreciation, and poor business judgment caused us to leave. I've noticed they are generally pretty rude to anyone working on a laptop so I'm wondering if they just have people working there but won't say it. I was hoping this business, under new ownership, would change but my husband said "it's just as pretentious as he remembers". As a business consultant myself, I'd invite the business owner to examine the customer experience and learn how to handle an influx or crowd. read more

This looks like a tea shop but they also have a small food menu. The restaurant we were planning on going to was closed and it was very cold and windy so we ducked in here to get our bearings. What serendipity because the food was great! We got the clam chowder which was chock full of corn and potatoes and of course clams. The avocado toast was amazing because of the bread and fun because of the zater spices added to the top. The warm ham sandwich was wonderful because of the same bread and thicker slices of ham with a lovely Dijon mustard. I got a Mango Black tea that I would have bought if I needed more tea at home. The ginger molasses cookie was perfectly seasoned so the ginger was not overpowering but could still be tasted. I loved it because the cookie was thick and soft. read more

We found this place by accident and it was a happy one! We were lucky to come in on a Saturday. They make Welsh Cakes on Saturdays. We were so excited to find them in the states we bought them all. I did the high tea with some girlfriends and it was quite nice. Highlights -All the sweets and scones were utterly delicious The scones came out warm and the clotted cream was excellent. Every single sweet item was spectacular. -The tea sandwiches were all good - although the egg salad was under seasoned. -Because there were so many sweets I wish there was one more savory item - like a sausage roll. -Great tea - I got a decaf English Breakfast Lowlights -It is pricey - but you do get a lot of food. And I don't care for the automatic 20% gratuity. -You get a small amount of tea in a French press. When I asked for more tea they just added more hot water - so the second cup was totally diluted. For the amount of food you get you really need your own teapot so you can have 2-3 cups of strong tea. -I did not like the cup you have to drink your tea out of I get that this is a modern tea house - but we all wished we had teapots and proper tea cups. -The service was lacking. I asked for more water(regular water) and never got a refill. It took forever to be able to pay. We finally had to go to the front to get help. I regret that it's taken me a couple of weeks to write this. But this was hands down the BEST high tea I've been to. My mom was visiting town and having tea is one of her favorite things. I had been here before when it was Pippa's but its under new ownership now. I have had high tea at several Fairmont properties including the Empress in Victoria and the Fairmont in Seattle as well as other various teas and none compare to this one. The food quality and taste far exceeded the others. Apparently the husband and wife duo who own the establishment now are responsible for the selection and preparation. Standouts included the desserts, each one (the lemon bar, berry tart, shortbread etc. were a triumph). The service was impeccable and the tea selection vast. I recommend the Earl Grey Creme (I also bought a lot to take with me. The owner does his own cold brew as well and I took one to go (fantastic). Needless to say, I, my mom and my friend had the best experience and I guarantee that you will too. I plan on coming back many times. Its an elegant way to spend part of your weekend afternoon.
