What a wonderful little bakery! Almost would've missed trying their treats but stopped by before leaving the town. It's a little shop but there are so many baked goodies that you can pick from. We picked a few items such as the almond croissant, cinnamon sugar twist, and a chocolate walnut cookie. Everything was delicious. I really regret not visiting Pane d'Amore for all these years I've been coming to PT. I happened to find myself in the area around lunch. Cue grilled cheese. They have an amazing bread, cheese, and toppings selection and it tasted as decadent and fulfilling as I was hoping for. Pan d'amore never misses!! Every year at thanksgiving, ever since the other bakery (Sweet Laurette) closed down, my family orders a stack of pies and a bag full of of bread from Pan D'Amore. My favorite are the cranberry rolls, and my grandma loves the Giacometti (cheesy bread sticks). The walnut cranberry loaf is also delicious! This time I ordered the mini danish and the morning glory bite. The morning glory mini muffin had an excellent texture and flavor. The apple pie, pumpkin pie, and blueberry pie were all delicious though the blueberry was my favorite. The flaky crust really shines in their pies. Place is small and cozy, only outdoor seating. The service is fast and friendly. Overall a must see in port townsend! read more

Walking around in town and did we find a gem! Just saw the little sign by where we parked the car, and this place is life-changing if visiting Port Townsend. Small, but intentional shop with so many delicious treats, and amazing fresh breads. We picked up want turned into the best cheese bread stick we've ever had, fought over it to the last crumb. Sorry, no pic, we ate it too fast. It didn't make it far. Talked to the person working and asked if they knew where we could score some pate for a cheese and meat board later that night and they recommended a market down the way, thought that was nice of them to recommend another local spot. We also got a sourdough loaf and some berry desserts. Will be back on our next trip. read more

Stopped in here while visiting and everything looked fabulous. What we got was really good. They offer a couple things that would be really great if they were able to heat them up such as the focaccia with cheese and the ham and cheese croissant We asked if they could be heated and they said no. But it was interesting that they were offering a grilled cheese special so wondering why they couldn't Heat up a croissant. I think it would be good if they had a little toaster oven just to heat those things up for people because two people left when they asked if those things could be heated.. read more

There are so many favorite foods at this little gem of a bakery...where do I start? The almond plain croissants are the best I've ever had...anywhere. Flakey, not too greasy, light, tasty. The gluten free brownie does not taste gluten free but it is rich, moist and you can't just eat one. The mini orange almond cake covered with browned almonds is to die for. Their packets of chocolate chip cookies are something I can eat in one sitting --by myself. The fruit danish is out of this world. The cheesy sticks and garlic sticks are fabulous. And the chicken pot pies....they come in small or large and are amazing. And if you bring the pie tin back, you get a little money refunded! And they have grilled cheese sandwiches made fresh in back with their bread!! Those taste like my mom used to make fresh off the grill --SO GOOD! The exterior of the bakery is just as welcoming and cute as the interior, with large windows keeping things fresh and airy - just like their bread! You will have many options, but the savory croissants caught my attention. We bought a few pain au chocolats and savory croissants, and boy, were we happy with our decisions. The staff is lovely, and I enjoyed the jokes and sassy vibes we shared. There is not much space inside, so if I were you, I would peek through the windows ahead of getting in line to confirm that the team has what you may be looking for. Parking is ample nearby, but the location is a quick walk through some lovely historic neighborhoods and is close to most areas where tourists may stay. The Olympic Peninsula deserves a better bakery than Pane d'Amore. In Sequim, where we buy its bread and pastries, we rank it third after Costco and Safeway, which is rather shocking when you consider that Pane d'Amore has, as they say, only one job, which is to bake well. Starting with baguettes: in theory they make two kinds, the sourdough which is pretty abysmal, and a waterfront baguette which used to be the best thing they do, until they changed its size and makeup, making it ordinary and tasteless. They do a pretty good cranberry walnut bread, but we've stopped buying it at the current exorbitant price. Their croissants and pains au chocolat leave much to be desired, as does just about every other daily pastry they churn out. And the pies ordered in advance! Embarrassing: how do you make a second rate cherry pie in summer or apple pie in autumn amidst farmlands that turn out extraordinary fruit? Pane d'Amore manages to achieve the mediocre. Luckily, Sequim has a competing cupcakery and brand new doughnut shop to provide some pastry choice. read more

In full disclosure, I have recently started working here but I've been a long time fan. There isn't a single bread or pastry here that I don't LOVE. And when the focaccia is in the oven...OMG!! My biggest challenge is that I'm a low carb girl. But it is impossible for me to resist scones (oh the jalapeño cheddar are THE best!), cinnamon twists and the sourdoughs... The other thing is that the people who work here are all so very nice. And genuine. If you have t tried their breads you should. There are four retail locations and carried in many local stores. Great a little bakery! My toddler and I stopped here for a snack on our day visit to Port Townsend. The selection, price and service was fabulous. I bought a chocolate chip cookie, maple pecan scone, lemon blueberry scone, focaccia, almond croissant and small danish raspberry bites. Came out to $16.50 and I tipped the lady since we were in their browsing for a bit. I have paid as much as $7 for a croissant this quality in the area. The scone were flaky and moist with juicy blueberries. The almond croissant was buttery and flavorful. The focaccia was warm and I smell the basil. Everything was delicious. The toddler and I sat outside since it was a warm day enjoying our treats. Would highly recommend and will come back to try some other items. read more

Got the pecan maple scone and let me tell you, it is phenomenal! It was so good in fact, that we got a few to bring back to Seattle with us. Excellent food, very competent and pleasant service. My hubbie and I were starving and it was getting late to find lunch and we needed something quick, convenient and portable. Grilled cheese!! Three cheese choices, several very interesting toppings, all on a choice of 6 Pane d'Amore's excellent bread. The packaging was all paper, no plastic! OK, long story here - buckle up. So I am taking the Coast Starlight train to Seattle from Klamath Falls, Oregon where I am seated next to some lovely strangers for breakfast in the dining car. When I tell them that I am visiting my brother who has just moved to Port Townsend (and I've never been before) one gentlemen lights up and tells me that he grew up there, was going home to spread his father's ashes there. Outside of his sad but uplifting story the thing that brought animation back into his eyes was his memory of this bakery. He said, "if there is one place you MUST visit, it is the bakery that my family and I used to walk up the hill to get our breads and treats!" He tells me, Pane d'Amore. So, when I arrived at the station, my brother and his wife take me to dinner before we hop the ferry to Port Townsend. Over dinner I tell him of my train adventure and then told him of the story of this man and that we must go to this bakery, had he heard of it? (No, he hadn't) Oh I can't remember the first part of the name but Amore was the end of it because who can forget love? Fast forward, 7 days into my trip, the day before my last. My brother takes us to lunch at a local place and says, hold on - there are a few other places nearby that I think you should see. I am sitting in the front seat with my body turned toward the back, happily chatting with my sister-in-law when he parks the car. Lo and behold! We are right in front of Pane d'Amore! I am tickled beyond, beyond! Not only did my brother remember our conversation from my first night arrival, he looked up all of the bakeries to find it for me!!! So super brother brownie points for that but speaking of brownies.....WE HAD A FIELD DAY IN THERE! He bought bread for home, I brought bread to bring back with me, we bought lemon bars, and assorted cookies which we enjoyed in a nearby park. Was the effort worth it? Every. Delicious. Bite. With every bite, I honored the man and his family memories from the train. With every bite, I enjoyed my new memory making experience with my brother and sister-in-law. Will I go back? Heck yeah, next time I visit, we'll be checking out those cinnamon twists I have since read reviews on but arrived to late in the afternoon and they were sold out. read more

I've never been a huge fan of just bread as I'm more a sweet treat kind of gal but this bakery has my favorite olive bread. Chewy, rustic, and plenty of olives in every bite. We also got an apple tart and mini blueberry muffin for our toddler - didn't last more than 5 minutes and soon, the car echoed with cries for more. The price is right for the deliciousness factor of the goods. Lots of options. Highly recommend. Note: The bakery itself is a small space at this location - only counter seating, no tables. As a visitor in a new area I'm always looking to try out the local bakeries (and boba, but that's a different story). This is definitely better than the baked goods you can find down in the main Water St area. It's maybe a 15 minute walk up the stairs and up Tyler St from the main downtown area. If you drive, there was plenty of street parking when I went by early Sunday afternoon. The selection was wider than the other bakeries/cafes I saw and things also looked a lot fresher. There's also an assortment of bread/cheese and beverages available. I went with the chocolate chip walnut cookie and forgot to take a picture of it because I ate it so fast! read more

I stopped in to buy some dessert items for a church event, and was met by this pompous witch of a storekeeper / manager. Very annoyed and put off that I asked her to slice some brownies and cookies before packaging. Hurried and rushed me out the door. Not even a thank you after a $35 purchase. I love the food here. The fresh baked cinnamon rolls and ham & cheese croissants are my favorite. Those chocolate & cashew cookies are delicious as well. I just wish I understood why the ladies who work here are always so cold and unfriendly toward me. If I've done something to warrant this treatment, I sincerely apologize, but to the best of my knowledge, I've always been pleasant. I'm polite. I ask them how they're doing. I smile and try to make light hearted small talk. No matter what, I get absolutely no response. It's all very cold and mechanical. Even if I'm the only customer in there. Sadly, this has led me to stop going in. It had been months since my last visit, but I went in today to grab some goodies for lunch. It was a different lady than usual, but unfortunately, she treated me exactly the same way. I just don't get it. Something good did come from this lousy customer service, though. I used to buy their frozen dough to make homemade pizza. However, this repeated treatment inspired me to learn how to make my own.
