Cute little diner style restaurant. Quick service (I stop here for my 30 min break and never am late getting back on the road. Plenty of parking. Service is great and the food is tasty.

Pesto Fettucine Alfredo that our new homegirl Alisa was able to make happen for me!! Thanks Alisa and thanks to the awesome Chef!!!!!

First of all, this is the cutest little cafe you ever did see!!! Total old-school cafe ambience which makes sense because it was opened in 1955!! Made me think of the cafe in "Twin Peaks" and while I didn't get any "damn good coffee" I DID get a bomb-ass piece of Pecan Pie that just melted in my mouth!! It's going to last me 3 days because I am savoring it while we are up here visiting!! Alisa was our server and she an absolutely wonderful and badass gal who talked the chef into modifying my special, the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, into a pesto fettuccine Alfredo with the Alfredo and pesto on the side because I gotsta minimize my dairy intake since I have Tourette's Syndrome and too much dairy makes me twitch and tick and hum and all of the things, lol. And I got a house salad with the meal since it was the special and it was huge and tasty, as well. The pasta is also going to last me the next couple of days!! We cooked last night and I added it to my surf & turf which made it all SO tasty!! They were just bought about a year ago and it looks like things are on the up and up!! Everyone was so kind and wonderful and the prices are great!! My wife and I highly recommend it if you're up here in the PNW!!

Two eggs, hash browns, toast, sausage and pancake

Chimacum cafe. I have been going to this place since '96. Happen to go this morning for breakfast. It's been before the pandemic since I had been. Always had good diner food. I have gotten pies from this place as well. They were always good. I don't know how long this diner has been in Chimacum buts it's been a long time. I would say the interior has seen better days but that hasn't affected the food. We were served by Dolores. She is a great server. I ordered eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. Had a side pancake as well. My husband ordered the same but we shared the pancake. Food was good, little surprised at the cost of the pancake for $8. The two meals, side pancake, coffee, tip amounted to $54. A little pricey for what we got. This place needs some love. You are no longer allowed to sit at the counter. They have uninstalled the seats and they were on the floor next to the mount, just didn't look good. Some regulars were playing some kind of dice game. They had seats at the counter opposite of the seats that were on the floor. So my thought here. Either have seats at the counter or don't. They use to have some veteran memorabilia but tha t looks to have been removed. They were not busy at all which surprised me because we were there at prime breakfast time on a Saturday morning. I am sure with the pandemic it affected this business like it has affected a lot of other businesses. The one thing I will say is the food is still good. Next time I go up to Port Townsend will definitely stop in. I have given 3 out 5 stars as the place just needs some love and hope to see the counter situation different, and the prices just seemed really high. The added pancake kind of floored me. It makes you not want to support local businesses when they charge like this.

When traveling to Port Townsend, Washington, I always make a point to stop at the Chimacum Café, in Chimacum, known for "Home Style Meals & NW Best Pies." Open since 1994, it's been around for almost 30 years. Chimacum Café is a roadside diner that is popular with locals and visitors. I've never eaten a meal there because my destination is Port Townsend. But I ALWAYS stop for a slice of pie...or two. OK...sometimes three! Whether I get one, two, or three slices, depends on what's available. My favorite two pies at this café are Rhubarb and Wild Blackberry. The Wild Blackberry is a seasonal pie that is made with local handpick berries. This trip, they didn't have Wild Blackberry, so I settled for a slice of Rhubarb. They also had Strawberry Rhubarb, and Raspberry Rhubarb, a distinctly PNW twist on rhubarb pie. The crust wasn't quite as good as it usually is, but the filling was tasty! Years ago, when I first discovered the Chimacum Café, I made a point to get three slices of pie every time I visited, which was usually twice a year. The first slice, I called "Lunch pie;" I ate it in the parking lot. The second slice, I called "Dessert pie;" I ate it late at night, after finishing my gallivanting and returning back to my parents' home on Fox Island. The third slice, I called "Breakfast pie." You guessed it! I ate it for breakfast the next morning! " Good Pie is Hard to Find! Life is Short! Be Happy Now!"

This is how they correct their mistakes.

Went for breakfast and will never go back. Everything was cold from the blackish/green eggs to the hashbrowns. The gravy was ok but the biscuits were basically hockey pucks. The bacon came out cold and barely cooked so we asked if it could be crisped up a bit, what came back was burnt and inedible. Better food at the Chevron gas station down the road.

So this is your traditional American breakfast cafe. Don't expect to have other type of breakfast meats, such as Turkey or chicken. Don't expect other type of milks and such. Overall, is a good place. The customer service is excellent!! Clean bathrooms and price is fair.

Great little cafe. We visited here while staying in port Ludlow-large portions, good service-people are so friendly in this area. Love it.

Roast beef sandwich, had the side salad.

We have been coming here for years when we are in town. Good or bad meals we come back. Not very often do we get bad ones. This time we had ordered a hamburger fish and chips and a roast beef sandwich. The hamburger was juicy and comes with mayonnaise on the bread but they will bring catchup and mustard if you want them. The burger comes with potato chips. If you want fries it is a side order. The fish and chips and cooked well no oily food and not over cooked. Plenty of fries. with the meal. The roast beef sandwich is huge and comes with a salad. Half of the dish was brought home for another meal. They have pies that are made at the restaurant so it is a good idea to save room for a slice. They did have dinner specials a couple of nights each week, don't know if they still do but you get a HUGE amount of food with them. The place is up for sale so we will see what the future holds.

Staff super friendly, sadly like everywhere else the prices have risen greatly over time. Hubby ordered the classic Eggs Benny w/ fries instead of hash browns w/coffee. I ordered Eggs Benny Country Style on a croissant instead of muffin. Each were a whopping $20.50! (For an old school cafe that's high.... if it was a fancier water view place or maybe a fresh crab or salmon Benny sure.) Mine came with their grated potato pancakes. I asked about the sausage gravy since it came with a mushroom sauce so she brought me a small side but realized later was charged 3.25. They advertise their bacon as premium thick sliced from Seattle butcher, hickory smoked weighing over 1/2lb for 4 slices (9.00) it was good but honestly looked and tasted like a standard good bacon. We were expecting something more like decadent crispy pork belly for the price and description. Hubby enjoyed his meal, but eggs Benny should have a soft yolk and both of ours were cooked past that. Our server was so sweet we didn't want to complain. Coffee $5 but was good blend and ended up buying a bag they offer at register for $12 from local roaster down the street. My meal was good.... but unsure about the mushroom sauce and I love them. It was like this underlying slight sour taste that kept me from really enjoying it. The potato pancakes were different from what I recall. I thought they were more like latkes with a crispy potato taste/texture but these are so finely grated that you can't even detect they are shredded potatoes. It was more like a super thin buckwheat flavor to me, unique but was good with the yummy applesauce & sour cream. I ordered a Bloody Mary $12.50 was flavorful didn't feel any alcohol but fine. We enjoyed our meal for the most part, couple of slight disappointments but the prices are so extreme I don't know how people can afford eating breakfast here. Our bill with tip came to $90!!!! That's just crazy. I saw on the menu the price for side items like $4.75 for ONE EGG??? $5.95 for TOAST??? Wowza, Sorry but it just takes the enjoyment out of dining. That's just being greedy to your loyal customers.

They had to change the syrup for my soda, which took almost 15 minutes. When my soda arrived, it wasn't diet but the sugared version. No attempt made to fix this. When my meal arrived, the scramble ordered with egg whites only had bits of egg shell. I'm not sure how they got there, but it was I little like Russian Roulette as every third bit or so contained a tiny little egg shell piece. It was off putting. The potato hash accompanying the egg shell scramble was too greasy to have. Combine this food with a slightly combative server and you get a terrible and, in my case, unforgivable experience. Zero things went well and all of them went poorly. Breakfast for 2 was 60 bucks plus tip, and it's money I've invested in learning how much I do not care for Chestnut Cottage. 0/5, do not recommend
