Out and about exploring from Oregon and decided to give Ajax Café a try. Such a delightful little hole in the wall! Matthew did an amazing job serving us and making menu suggestions. Each dish we had was decadent- including the desserts. Having Old 33 records serve as the menus Was such a fun idea. Everything we ordered was outstanding! Serving sizes were great and prices reasonable too. The vast array of eclectic decor kept our eye, except when we were enjoying the lively water views. Such a lovely afternoon with amazing food and friendship conversations. We will be back!

The location is great but the service...hostess and the food is mediocre. They opened less than 37 minutes and the hostess was hesitant to seat me because I did not have a reservation!! The restaurant was 98% empty when I got there and when I left ! I did enjoy my beer! So one star for the beer. Thanks poulsbo brewing co

Friends who live locally referred us to this charming cafe. We were staying in Port Townsend and otherwise would have never found it. From the eclectic decorations, the scenery and the amazing menu choices, this was almost a perfect dinner. Our only hiccup was our red wine was served in a tall, thin glass that my nose kept hitting when I tried to take a drink. The waitress was very cordial to change our glasses. I had a Pork Tenderloin with a Chimichurri sauce and my husband had Seared Ahi Tuna. They were both done to perfection along with the vegetables, no mush there! Thank you for a wonderful dinner to remember.

This is an annual tradition for our family to enjoy a dinner at this fun, eclectic gem found along the water at Port Hadlock. The walls are covered with fun hats, menus come in a variety of record covers and servers are friendly and attentive. Everything here is delicious from the drinks to the appetizers to main courses and you have to save room for dessert! We have vegetarians and meat lovers as well as passionate seafood enthusiasts and everyone is super satisfied with the menu options. While we come as a family, it is a great place for friends to enjoy a meal as well as to take a date to for a romantic meal. Enjoy this truly special place that makes us always want to come back again next year)or sometimes the next night, but it can get quite expensive so it is more of a special occasion experience for us)!

We ordered several dishes which included the pimento spread with fried saltines, duck confit croquettes. potato and leek soup, oysters on the half shell and lastly, their house-made pasta which was mafaldine, a long strand with curly edges on both sides in with a sauce that was just exceptional. Our waitress, Jessica was so friendly and there was never a wait for our dishes. Overall a very splendid experience and will definitely go back when visiting Port Townsend again.

They are always making sure you have a clean dining space and fresh settings. The food is of course the star of the show though. We went during HH and tried a variety of small bites and every single one of them was delicious. The oysters were on point, the greens balanced, the croquettes and salmon dip were very flavorful but our favorite dish of the day was the biggest one and that was the house made pasta. The selection changes every day and on our day it had red sauce, red onion, and castelvetrano olives and it was so good that we ordered a second bowl! And we may not have needed a second bowl as it was a solid size but it was so good! The house red during HH was also nice and I tried a white port and tonic which was fun to try and refreshing. Definitely a destination stop whenever one is around Port Townsend!

It doesn't get much better than a great bottle of wine and the spectacular view here. The Old Alcohol Plant Inn is a very beautiful three star hotel that is an excellent place to rejuvenate and unwind if you have an artistic or a romantic soul. This is a 115 year old industrial building that has been converted into a very unique hotel. We recently stayed at one of the top five star hotels in Seattle and I would say we had a way better time with way better hospitality here. The passion and the pride that goes into this hotel and property is unlike anything we've experienced and made us huge fans of this place. Looking to escape the record heatwave, we booked a couple days here at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn and spent a couple days bumming around Port Hadlock and Port Townsend. We had a great time! First checking in, we were greeted by the front desk who were some of the best we've encountered. Super nice and everything was great and easy. I really have to compliment the hospitality and how nice the front desk staff was as it was noteworthy. We booked the executive suite on the 4th floor and we loved it! A huge 1,000 square foot room with a bedroom separated from the main room by a unique step up higher level design. We really liked the hot tub in the room and everything was very nice. The bathroom also had a unique setup with both a bathtub/shower and a separate shower. This suite also had a very cool outdoor balcony you could hang out on. One of the more unique hotel suites we've had The best thing about the executive suite was the spectacular view looking out over the marina, the beautiful garden and the ocean. My wife and I loved just gazing out at the water and the garden from our room and watching the world go by. Incredibly relaxing and nice. I really was impressed with the passion and the staff here. Every person we interacted with was exceptional, passionate and working extremely hard. From the front desk staff who were one of our most pleasant travel experiences. To the lady working in the restaurant who never stopped moving tending so many different tables and people. To the gardener we saw working his butt off in the heat pulling weeds in the garden and keeping it beautiful. To John, the maintenance man. I really have to give a shoutout to John who was AWESOME!!! Just a great dude. We were having an issue with our air conditioner in our room and John came up, took care of everything and was just a pleasure to deal with. The entire team here really pulled together to make our experience here great. I felt they were exceptional and went above and beyond any other travel experience we've had recently. We only had a bottle of wine in the restaurant so I cannot comment on the food, but I thought the lady waitress was amazing with how hard she was working. There was only one lady working four different areas with two dining rooms, outside and a bar area. So we were more than forgiving and understanding as she was doing her best to take care of everyone. But the lady was great and we enjoyed hanging out in there. Cool space. I really enjoyed learning about the history here. Looking at all of the neat photographs and work. And appreciating how loved and unique this place is. From the scores of famous artists and thinkers who've spent time here. To looking at all of the architecture inside and thinking about how this place was built in 1911 originally as a factory to convert sawdust into alcohol. I have to admit this place isn't going to be for everyone. Being a 115 year old building and the nature of this hotel being part of a bigger overall community help project, there will be some quirks and eccentric qualities to this hotel. There's no pool here and there's not a whole lot for kids here. Also if you're some Karen who thinks you're going to get a 5 star experience for under $500 a night in a 115 year old building, not only are you delusional but this may not be for you. But if you're a romantic or an artist type. You'd like to create a special memory with a special someone. Or you'd just like to drink some wine, enjoy some beauty and mellow out in great vibes, it is hard to beat the Old Alcohol Plant Inn. A great place to stay for relaxation or if you want to explore Port Townsend and the local area.

After a bit of time passed we did get a reservation here and we had a great time! This Inn was once an old alcohol plant which fell into disrepair and was abandoned for a while but was eventually converted into an Inn. There is a restaurant here but we didn't make it in there to try any of the food. We either came in too late or left too early which was outside of business hours for it so I can't provide any feedback there. I believe the restaurant itself has it's own Yelp entry. Our stay here was extremely peaceful and quiet. We absolutely loved that aspect about it. We slept well and had a great view of the water when morning rolled around. Our stay here I suspect falls in the out of season time and so the reception desk called us to confirm we were coming as it was getting a little bit later and then as the drive back to the Inn was taking longer than we thought we called the front desk to make sure they were still there to receive us. I suspect they do this in the off season so the front desk can close earlier if it's slow. I am not sure if they do this sort of thing when it's not in off season but I suspect they may not as much since it's probably busier. So point being they don't appreciate if you just roll in any old time of the night despite a reservation. It's nothing negative to point out with this but more of a heads up if one considers getting a room here in particular during the off season (which is great by the way... so peaceful and quiet).

I have to give the tartar sauce a hard pass. It was mostly mayonnaise. I don't use sauce on fish, ever. But it wasn't even good enough to dip the fries in. I dug out the homemade tartar sauce from yesterday's lunch to eat with Sea J's fries.
