Classic American cuisine, breakfast served all day, great comfort food - at an affordable price! Warning, this is a somewhat long review - to help you understand why I feel Paradise Cafe in Sequim, WA is worth 5 stars. If you're reviewing this restaurant, you need to understand this is a reestablished restaurant which was originally the Paradise Restaurant and shut down in November 2024 when the original owners retired (after 35 years of service) and then reopened in February 2025. Any reviews that date November 2024 and further do not apply to this restaurant. You need to understand the restaurant's new co-owners are also the cooks. On Yelp, they describe the restaurant as, "Classic American Cuisine. Breakfast served all day. Seafood and great comfort food." This restaurant does just that - with an extensive menu as well as daily specials. Today, a year and half after they reestablished the restaurant, we had the opportunity to try their food. A little background - while we're extreme out-of-towners, who live over 2600 miles away, we have visited Sequim 6 times in the last 5 years. We've visited in each season and simply love this town! Today, taking advantage of their daily specials, I ordered their Sourdough Burger and had Clam Chowder for my side. My wife ordered Liver and Onions (a rare treat for her) and I stole her Sweet Potato Fries (an extra $3). We also both ordered Lavender Lemonades and shared a slice of Lemon Merengue Pie. The Sourdough Burger was delicious and great! The Clam Chowder ok (I've had better, but it was still ok). My wife liked her Liver and Onions (as I mentioned, a rare treat for her). The Sweet Potato Fries were fried just right, plentiful and worth the extra $3! The Lavender Lemonades were really nice. I found it a little on the sweet/syrupy side, so I simply kept adding water until I was satisfied. The Lemon Merengue Pie, in my opinion, was not so great. Not sure why - maybe because my grandmother made one that was simply to-die-for and this couldn't compete? I do understand all the deserts are made in-house - maybe other deserts would be better. Leaves me curious. The servings were generous and plentiful (in fact, some four hours later, while I write this review, I'm still very full)! Did the restaurant serve "great comfort food" as advertised? In my opinion, indeed they did! Would I return for another meal? Yes - their food is good and their menu has enough diversity to eat something different for five days or more! Would I recommend this restaurant to someone else? Absolutely - local folks or visitors! Our bill was a little over $52. If we skipped the pie, we could've dined for under $45 - delicious bargain! Bonus: they played 70's music and wife enjoyed - there, I hit "ambiance" :) read more

We love the extensive space at Paradise! We had a group of 8 couples (16 people) there for brunch! Some ordered breakfast, others ordered lunch.... Our food was delicious and the waitstaff was attentive and even gave us individual couple bills! Both Jon and I ordered omelettes and we enjoyed our meal! Definitely will go back! read more

I had passed by this restaurant for the longest time, saying "I've got to try Paradise one day". Well today I, and 5 others, went for breakfast. Afterwards, every one of us said we will certainly go back. We each had something different, from biscuits and gravy, to waffle, to Mexican, to just plain eggs/bacon, we all left happy. I firstly want to say, waitress and hostess were very good. However, whomever is cooking is not doing a great job. Our food was so bland. Pasta not cooked with salt, and sauce had zero flavor. Even the garlic bread didnt not taste like much. Alfredo was paste. Salads were good and iced teas were good, but man, I am super sad about this. I could not finish food. I never add salt to anything in restaurants, and I felt like I was pouring it on. This was my first time there, and likely my last. I dont know how their breakfast is, hopefully better than the dinner, but i do know it is served all day. I hope they help their chef a bit, because it is much needed. read more

We were in the area and struggling to find a place for a decent dinner. We settled on this and upon arrival, we were really questioning the decision. But the service was great and the food ended up being pretty good. My boyfriend had a steak and added prawns to it. He said it was good. I had the Captains platter. The Dungeness crab was the best but the scallops and shrimp were good too. I didn't like the calamari (bland) and the fish was alright (a little soggy). Baked potato was great. Beware the new management have a bate and switch Scam going on there 20% off before 11:00 AM as you must say you want the 20% off when you sit down or you don't get it when you get your bill. They have a very extensive menu with lots too choose from. Maybe too much though, it would be best to have a few really good dishes instead of many that aren't so good. Visit #1 - I ordered biscuits and gravy. The eggs and hash browns were good, but the gravy is not what I'd hoped for. Very bland. Definitely not made there, I'd bet on Sysco food services. Visit #2 - I ordered Hot Roast Turkey dinner, but for some unexplained reason, I got the Hot turkey sandwich instead. I was fine with that. It came with a salad, unfortunately the ranch dressing is just plain bland and watery. The gravy looked good but had absolutely no flavor other than salt. I ordered the jalapeño burger. The meat was a little dry and so was the burger overall. The burger was definitely lacking juiciness, maybe add a spicy garlic aoli to the burger next time. My wife and I went in for a late lunch, 4:30 PM. There was one other table occupied in the place and yet we still got terrible service. Sat there with empty plates on the table for 15 minutes before we could get a bill. She ordered California brisket sandwich for $12 off the special menu and I ordered a bacon blue burger $17 off the regular menu. We were ask what type of fries we wanted given the choice of curly tater tots regular sweet potato fries. She toast, sweet potato and I chose curly fries. Ask for a side of ranch so the waiter asked if she wanted ranch also, she said yes. Got the bill at the end, there was eight dollars up charges. Three dollars for each set of fries and a dollar for each cup of ranch. Food was tasteless and bland. Won't be going back there! read more

Decent food, drinks*, and prices. Unfortunately, we waited 40 minutes for our entrees and had to let the servers know that we had tickets to a performance in 20 minutes. They got everything out to us, but by then we had to rush through and didn't taste much. We will try them again when we have more time. *Note, the Mai Tai was not a 'real' Mai Tai, it had orange juice and grenadine. Not bad, just not authentic. If I could give this place a 0, i would. The food was cold, underseasoned, and just...it took about an hour. The prices are absurd for the quality of the food. I ordered a Captain's plate. The scallop wrapped in bacon was awful. Squishy and soggy. Disgusting. The fries didn't have enough salt. The only thing I enjoyed truly was my Pepsi. The decor of the place is outdated as well. Damp red and green color pallet? I mean, really... The staff are quite friendly though, liked them a lot! However, the Sequim motto still stands: Don't eat in Sequim. We were amazed and pleased. A group of 18 of us descended on this place (we had a reservation and had a room to ourselves.) While there didn't seem to be an abundance of staff, the two or three who served us were efficient, fast and very good. The menu was a real surprise. The variety of dishes offered was like nothing we expected from a place in Sequim, almost eclectic. Veal Oscar, smothered in mushrooms and crab, with asparagus spears as one example. It was delightful. One person ordered salmon and insisted it absolutely must be barely cooked, not seared or overbaked. Waitress marked down "Rare" and the diner got an absolutely perfect serving of salmon. Another seafood medley dish, big scallops and shrimp in a fillo pastry. Pasta dishes were copious and delicious. None of us ordered steaks, so I can't vouch for that side of the menu, but I can say that the seafood preparation here was oustanding. We visited on a weekend a few weeks ago. They didn't open until 4PM, and we had skipped lunch and were quite hungry. The parking lot was getting busy so we were surprised that there were no patrons in the dining room. They were all in the bar. The place looked clean, the staff was pleasant. The restaurant reeked of old cigarettes and cat pee. The latter was especially prevalent near the restrooms. If I hadn't been so hungry we would have left. Our state hasn't allowed indoor smoking for over a decade and it doesn't seem anyone thought to do a deep clean or run an ozone machine in this place once that law passed. It's a real shame because the staff were friendly and the food was okay, and the reason I am giving two stars instead of one. read more

Our church group made reservations for dinner on Sunday Dec.11, 2022. A few of us could not attend due to sickness or other problems. They had the nerve to say that those who did not attend owed them $60.00 per couple. Guess they would rather us get everyone else sick and attend anyway. Needless to say, our church will not be using this poor excuse for a restaurant for any dinners in the future. They are very dishonest and must really need the money to do this. I will personally tell everyone I know to go elsewhere. The restaurant deserves a 1-star rating. Do yourself a favor and go to a decent respectable restaurant instead. read more

Someone pointed this place out to me saying they had good food and a good pour. It was pretty crowded when I got there, so I made my way to the bar area and had to take a table. Mary, the bartender, was delightful and attentive. She made me feel perfectly comfortable as a single woman coming into a bar for the first time. The food was good, but there was way too much gravy on my chicken that it soaked the perfectly aldente, although not enough, veggies and the baked potato. This is a marvelous small town restaurant where nothing is ridiculously overdone. The servers are friendly and remember you; the food is home cooking Mama style. Foodies and high tech city people need not apply . If you want no stress good food at reasonable prices this is your place. My husband loves their bacon wrapped scallops, their prime rib is done to perfection, the salmon is fresh and sublime - unusual in a small town to have such a skilled chef at these prices. After trying 3 other spots before Paradise to get a table for 5 we decided to try Paradise. We ordered for our kids right when we got sat so they could get their food going asap. After a 20min wait we asked for a status on just the kids food and we're told another 5min. They brought crackers and some crayons to help us entertain our kids. After checking back in again 15 min later they brought bread to the whole table. After waiting 50 min we finally got our food. Luckily it was hot but we had all lost our appetite and kids were on meltdown because it was getting late. There was no remorse for the wait. We will not go back. read more

Great food at reasonable prices in a nice atmosphere. This is our favorite restaurant in Clallam County. The owners and staff are very efficient and friendly. Try the Cioppino stew or any other seafood dish, they are all great. We have been coming here for years so I can not understand the people who wrote the poor reviews. I think perhaps they were reviewing a different restaurant. There are lots of places with the same name but the one in Sequim is GREAT! Tell them Conrad sent you. read more

From start to finish just a bizarre meal. They try but simply don't seem to understand the timing and typical parings for steak and seafood. Poached halibut served with mashed potatoes and brown gravy is an example. If you want to have food regret this is your place! read more

While making our way to a sports bar for dinner, my partner spotted the signage for Paradise. "Steaks!" he exclaimed excitedly. In the very next moment, we abandoned the sports bar idea, did a U-turn and entered Paradise with giddy anticipation (there's a pun in there somewhere). I was taken aback for a moment when we were warmly greeted by Asian staff. And then the smells confused me. For a long minute, I thought we had entered a Chinese restaurant by mistake. Even the adorably dated interior reminded me of a favorite Chinese restaurant from my childhood. The bewilderment was laid to rest when the menus were presented to us and we spotted the section of Steaks. Prime Rib. Ribeye. Sirloin. I glanced quickly at the other sections of the dinner menu and found veal, seafood and pasta. Wow, you can find almost anything in Paradise! (I think I just slapped on another pun). Partner and I ordered the prime rib steaks with the soup of the day (clam chowder!), baked potato and rice pilaf. Our beverages, soups and rolls came quickly. The rolls were warm and oh-so-fluffy and chewy. They were replenished promptly with lovely little dishes of whipped butter. Above average margaritas. When our steaks were served, we were a little surprised to find they were not your typical huge hunks of meat. But they were grilled PERFECTLY with just the right amount of seasoning. Our steaks were juicy and succulent. Every bite was melt-in-the-mouth good. Skip the rice pilaf; I found it quite underwhelming. The baked potato, though, hit the spot with its creaminess. We loved the staff at Paradise: they were attentive, polite, quick on their feet and always smiling. Did not go here with great expectations, but just wanting to try a new (to us) place in Sequim. What a disappointment! Like the other reviewers we noticed the 80s decor, Asian staff, etc. But generally we like quirky so weren't put off by any of that. My husband ordered the fresh oysters as advertised on the "specials" sign up front. I saw the same item in the menu, for the same price and when I inquired about it was told that the "special" were fresh oysters...as opposed to what, I wondered. When delivered to the table they were greasy and soggy and the requested baked potato was no where to be found. It did come quickly, when the error was pointed out. My Crab Louie...now here's the real disappointment... was served with bagged, shredded, iceberg lettuce. Yes, I know iceberg is traditional, but shredded is difficult to eat with a fork...and bagged...yuck. For $18.95 I think they could have found some local greens and made a much more appealing salad. We won't be leaving our money there again...ever :( read more

We've lived in Sequim since 1987 and the Paradise Restaurant has been one of our favorites for many years. The food is always good there and the service is excellent as well. My personal favorite is their prime rib, but everything on their menu is very good. Whether you're a traveler or a local, you won't go wrong stopping at the Paradise. read more

This food wasn't very good. Tasteless and sub par and covered with mayonnaise. They served my kids piping hot chocolate in tall water glasses they couldn't pickup the cups there was stuff floating in my boyfriend's glass. I will never go here nor recommend.
