We had a great time here on Mother's Day. It was a busy Sunday morning, but they got us right in no problem. Our server was new but she did a excellent job helping us out. The food came out really quick and the coffee Refills were very plentiful. The staff worked really well together. The portions were very big and everything was very tasty. I liked that they had their own hot sauces that you could choose from and a cool little mini gift shop if you wanted to buy their famous bear mugs. Went here while charging the Tesla. The exterior was beautifully landscaped with a large Koi pond and water features. We were surprised to find that the restaurant was not newly built, but was in fact 14 years old. It was impeccable clean. The staff was friendly but slow,spending time chit chatting among themselves. There are so many breakfast options on the menu, it would be hard to not find something to try. We ordered the Cinnamon Roll French toast (very sweet and loads of cinnamon, I enjoyed it) and the biscuits and gravy(did not like the biscuits as they were more like a bread roll) with sausage Patties ( very good). Having breakfast here last weekend with my family of 4 might possibly be the best experience I've had a Black Bear Diner EVER, and I've been to too many of them to count. It's also the most beautifully landscaped with lovely water features to look at if you're seated on the patio or by the window. I wish I could remember the waitress' name, sweet older lady, probably in her 50s--but she was SO nice and I really appreciated how accommodating she was about substitutions. She really went above and beyond. My 6 year old was jonesing for diced ham and scrambled eggs, which wasn't on the kids menu, but the waitress made it happen. Then when my daughter was wishing she had a biscuit like the one that my husband was too hungry to share, the kind waitress brought us an extra one on the house. We stopped here for dinner after a long drive and the food was exactly what we anticipated. That said, this location is pretty cute as they really embrace the theme even more so than other locations. In fairness the server did offer to ask the cook if they would redo but I opted not to as I had been waiting for a while. My wife and I hadn't been up to Sequim from Bremerton, WA for a few years, but headed up there to the local garden show and a chance to hear gardener extraordinaire Ciscoe Morris speak. Had a great time and we stopped here for dinner on a Sunday around 4:30 before heading back home. This great looking restaurant didn't exist last time we were in Sequim. It's right next door to the attractive Holiday Inn Express. Because I had a bit of a drive ahead of me, we ordered no beer or wine, just stuck with ice cold water. My wife ordered the Chicken Caesar Melt ($15.39), marinated grilled chicken breast with Caesar dressing, lettuce, tomato, and Swiss & jack cheeses on sourdough bread grilled with a Parmesan crust. Came with a choice of sides and she had the onion rings. I had Mikey's Homemade Chicken Pot Pie ($17.99), which also came with choice of sides. I had the green beans and bacon, which was very flavorful, but the beans were cooked to death...soft and mushy 50's style; probably wouldn't order them again. Except for the beans, we both thought our food choices were excellent. My wife asked for tartar sauce for her rings and it definitely was not our preferred style...too sweet. Just give us dill relish, mayo and a little onion...no sugar or other sweetener please. Lots of young people working here...all very polite, well-spoken and cordial. Our server did a great job! I love a good diner for breakfast foods. I love breakfast foods and don't need fancy - I just need it to be good. This was my kind of place. I ordered the Shasta Veggie Scramble and chose the hashbrowns with biscuit, plus a coffee. Mind you, this was a 2 o'clock lunch. Their scramble had avocado(!) and paired with good veggies. The hashbrowns though - yesss for the ribbons! The crunchy potato ribbons!!! Their homemade biscuit is also key for a wonderful meal. I honestly enjoyed this meal so much.. and I love this restaurant and want to go back to a Black Bear Diner when I go back home to California. haha. The food came out much slower than breakfast foods normally take to cook though. As a party of 5, we were wondering what was up. For a restaurant that's known for generous servings, the chicken was a surprise. A very small amount, chopped in tiny pieces, about the size you might cut up for a cat. Or a mouse. Going to the kinda places., You know the food is going to be a solid 5/10. And honestly after camping or something that is exactly what you want. This location is just poor though. The server we had was fine but forgetful for a few things. Not a super big deal, but she did drop a whole hot pot of coffee that fell on the floor and got all over my boyfriend's legs. The server had no sense of urgency, yes it wasn't a third degree burn but it hurt and he still can feel it 20 min later. She did return with a napkin with some ice and offered a free desert. We tried to make the most of the situation, he was clearly upset and even the other tables were shocked on how it seemed the server just didn't care. When we did get to pay the host girl. (She was younger and name started with an S) tried adding the desert and when I asked why the price went up she began auditing the tab as though I didn't know. I corrected her and she still pushed back. In the end we left and will not return to this location. One or two off things are one thing, but even when that place is busy we have had great times. This one experience truly made so we won't return and will tell our friends and family to skip it all together. Sucks. read more

I was meeting my husband for the first time. 3 months later he asked me to sit in the same booth at Black Bear like on our first date, Then he proposed to me. I was soooo surprised! I said yes! 10 months later, We got married in a hot air balloon. Black bear is a peaceful place . Every Restaurant is a little unique and yet the menu is the same. I love love the bear decorations I love bears I love how the waitresses are devoted to taking care of you. Always over and above for serving you. Been to many Black Bears and this was the most disappointing. Ordered the chicken fried steak, usually amazing. This time, not so much. It was about the size of a McDonalds burger patty. Not much flavor, added salt and pepper so it had something. Hash browns were greasy and blah. Not the best experience for sure. We won't be back. read more

Came here with my family after a nice 8 mile hike in the Olympic National Park and boy were we hungry!! Staff was friendly and they served us lots of coffee and ice tea. It did take a while for the food though. Everyone was in the mood for breakfast and I was the only one who ordered lunch. When our meals arrived I must admit the breakfast choices Lion delicious ! My friends told me I had to go to this place to get their pancakes. I should've listened to their advice because what we got was really disappointing. Atmosphere: For sure really cute. It's got black bear stuff all over and it's all super cute. There's a little merch shop in the front that you can buy cute things. The menu is a newspaper and it's very expansive. Service: Fast and friendly. Food: Pretty disappointing here. Partner got the Big Burger (named after the owner) so he was excited for it. Unfortunately, even though he asked for it to be cooked Medium Rare, it came out pretty much well done. Why even ask for how you want it to be cooked if the burgers all just get cooked well done?? Also, lack of flavor and nothing special. I got the California Bacon Eggs Benny (subbed the bacon for Ham). It was smothered (see pic) in Hollandaise sauce. Listen, usually I love Hollandaise and I feel like most people don't give you enough typically....but this was overkill. The whole thing was covered and I had to dig through the sauce to find my tomato, avocado, ham, etc. I didn't even think it came on an English muffin at first because I couldn't find it. When I finally did, it was all soggy in the sauce. The flavors was all just Hollandaise sauce - I tasted nothing else. Literally everything was swimming in it. The absolute worst breakfast I have ever had. Ordered the meat lovers omelette and hash-browns. I asked for American cheese on the omelette and when they brought it out it had small tiny squares of cold cheese and the omelette itself was covered in grease. The hash-browns were no better. Finally a classic diner!! As a native New Yorker, I miss a good ole fashioned diner. This place is it! Stopped in one weekend while we were out exploring and it was awesome.
