Waited nearly another 20 minutes without anyone else checking in if we were ready to order or wanted drinks, despite employees walking past us numerous times. This one was a little difficult to rate and here's why .... To begin with the place is absolutely a 50's diner. It's cute, plays 50's music and has all the right paraphernalia relating to that period. There are lots of seats and that part of it is perfect. Our server was nice -- not overly friendly and was always rushed -- a little too much but good. My husband is always happy to hear that breakfast is always served as that's his favorite meal. He ordered a strawberry waffle and, of course, he loved it. I had ordered clam chowder elsewhere twice this last week and both times I received flour chowder. Never had that? Well, it tastes like flour soup as it is overloaded with flour, little liquid and hardly anything else in the bowl. It was on the menu here and I felt third time is the charm. It definitely was. The chowder actually had clams in it and tasted like clams. I should have stopped there. I also ordered fish'n chips. I definitely would not recommend them. The fries were hot and looked beautiful but needed another minute or so in the deep fryer. The fish? Well, it was raw in the middle! No wonder the first two bites didn't taste right. She did take the fish off the menu but that usually isn't enough as serving raw fish should never have happened. read more

I can't believe I had not been to this cute diner that we pass by often on the main drag in Sequim! It was more spacious inside than I realized and It has the 50s style nailed. Both booths or counter service available, a great menu with broiled burgers, breakfast served all day and even prime rib dinner specials or ect on certain evenings. The milkshake and malt offerings are legit! We stopped in at lunch and were greeted with kind service. We had bacon blue cheese burgers that were seriously some of the best Ive had in a long time, like since before the pandemic! I liked that they didn't blink when we asked for all the condiments, real hienz ketchup here, dijon mustard, ect.. burgers were even topped with crunchy onion straws! I was hoping for more 'old fashioned' prices thou, however, the price was still better than most as the burgers included unlimited fries. (ave about $17 depending which toppings ya get) Also, the burgers blow all others out of the water in Sequim. so priced accordingly. I was impressed! We'll be back. Great diner in Sequim, Washington. Passing through town visiting family and asked a local for a suggestion and was directed to this great 50s style diner. Service was friendly and fast. Food was nicely portioned and delicious. Family ordered the Halibut fish and chips (I subbed fries for vegetable of day) meal also came with soup or salad, so I chose their award winning clam chowder. Fish was cooked perfectly and super meaty. My nephews ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and Blue Moon burger, both came with fries. Burger had great flavor combo with jalapeños, bacon and different cheeses. My sister got the French toast with bacon and eggs. And had to try the chocolate shake. If you are looking for a place to relive the 1950-60 era, this is the place to go. Retro Decor all around. The music will take you back in time. BUT the best meal I had there was the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion Rings. I tried many other dishes but they were just so-so. The best thing about the Meat Loaf Special is the REAL potatoes and gravy. The milk shakes and malts are worth having. Service was AMAZING. But do not expect gourmet meals. read more

Hard to know if it's a three or four at this diner. I've been coming to this diner on and off since it first opened decades ago. They still do not have any nondairy milk and very little for a plant-based eater. You can get the snow call me falls oatmeal. We exchanged raisins for blueberries thank you. OK. This is a cute diner! Parking is easy as well. There was no wait when we went. We ordered a butterfinger malt milkshake and it was delicious. The milkshake was a great size too. Then for food, we ordered the chicken fried steak and chicken/waffles. The chicken fried steak was the biggest I have ever seen, it encompassed the plate. I would say it was a bit in the saltier side. The waffles were probably the crispiest I have ever had. The chicken on the waffles was bland and a bit dry but everything was forgiven when the house made buttermilk sauce was drizzled on it. Treated badly by manager/owner. My partners hamburger was seasonless and soggy. My ribs were fatty and flavorless as well. Coleslaw was flavorless besides vinegar. Service was subpar, food was 50/50. There were 4 of us, 2 had a decent meal and the others did not. Not sure what happened, but my Grandma's french dip was TERRIBLE. The meat was dry and tough and looked weird. My Grandma was too polite to suggest a refund, and when we handed it back (one bite taken from sandwich) the server blankly stared at her and didn't ask to take it off the check. Her "dry" sense of humor turned rude at that point. I didn't want to ruin the meal more, so I said nothing. I will not be back and would not recommend. read more

I have been here once with a friend. The food was OK, and the portions were huge. They have a 50's theme going on with some memorabilia and a jukebox playing oldies. There was seating outside when we were there. I've never been asked to leave before by a restaurant because they were closing in 15 minutes. We were still eating. I am a VERY PICKY EATER as I am on the autism spectrum & textures/tastes are a big issue when eating out. My dad & I decided to try this place. Although he was perfectly happy with his blueberry pancake breakfast, My 90 yr old dad set in his way even tried a bite ( after some insistence on my part ) & LOVED it. We agreed Will BOTH be ordering it NEXT time I visit him & plan to make this our regular go to restaurant. The homemade buttermilk syrup was the PERFECT topper! DELECTABLY MOUTHWATERING!! Chicken was well seasoned, crispy but not OVER or under cooked. Puts IHOP to SHAME. Waffles were fluffy. If I had anything to suggest at all to make it ABSOLUTELY PERFECT... it would be to butterfly cut the chicken breast just so it is easier to cut with the waffle. Service was wonderful. We haven't visited 101 in over 10 years due to a bad experience. We decided to come in for another try and regretted it. Our food took 45 mins to complete. Our server never kept us in the loop about our food running long, we overheard another server tell their customers. Our food came out with wet undercooked middles with the pancakes and my country fried steak was nothing but a mouth full of stringy grissle. We left without eating anything to go home to eat. Our server was nice enough to refund our meals but did so with attitude. There are a lot of regulars who dine here. We were seated quickly but it took our server quite some time to get to our table to even take a drink order. We were happy with water but before we could order off she went. Finally came back to take our order after another 10 minutes. They have a varied menu, both breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Even though it was afternoon we ordered the California omelette which came with hash browns and choice of toast. After watching several tables who had come in after us receive their orders our food finally arrived. We had watched our server do clean up and sort of flitting around and when she did bring our food it was not piping hot and had obviously been sitting in the window for who knows how long. First comment is I am going to return to this retro diner in Sequim. I need to explore this establishment. First impressions it was clean, neat as a pin, and welcoming. I have been driving by this diner for years this was my first experience. Why? It was Monday, it is one of scant number of restaurants that is open. We met another couple there who had just driven from Lake Quinault on the coast. Hi-Way 101 Diner opens at 7AM and closes at 8PM. They serve breakfast all day but we were there for an early dinner our friends still had another 45 miles of travel. In this part of State there are no Interstates. The diner offers a daily special, but not until after 5PM. So everyone ordered off the menu. A Patty melt, a burger with Swiss, a bowl of Navy bean & ham soup, a Crab Louie salad, and a cup of clam chowder. The sandwiches come with steak fries which can be refilled. I ordered the Crab Louie salad as the menu stated it was made with fresh Dungeness crab. Sequim is the center of Dungeness is the PNW. Everyone was happy with their food. The fries were delicious crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, I stole several from my wife's plate. My salad was entree sized and consisted of chopped romaine, sliced tomatoes (8), a whole hard boiled egg cut in half, a very generous portion of fresh Dungeness crab, and a side of Thousand Island dressing. The salad could have used a little red onion but, that is a personal preference. It was good and the crab was very fresh. My cup of chowder was delicious, but thicker than I like and not as hot as I like, which is scalding. Hi-Way 101 does not serve alcohol of any sort, but they do make old fashion shakes and malts. They are known for their blackberry shakes. Our friends ordered a classic chocolate shake to share. The waitress asked do they want two straws or split into 2 glasses. They went for the glasses. The shake arrived with two full classes of chocolate shake each topped with fresh whipped cream and straw, a nice touch. This is an establishment that is a member of the clean plate guild, so if you ask for a Togo box there will be $0.25 charge per box. The menu is very interesting, hence my desire to return. Items of interest include a thick-cut prime rib sandwich, chicken and waffles with a buttermilk cream syrup, and a Dungeness crab omelette. read more

We just went there for a late breakfast April 25 2025. After we sat down it took a little bit for us to get waters and for our server to even talk to us. She took our order and didn't even check in through the meal. She just threw things down on the table. I ordered the french mini and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak. Both of us ordered our eggs over easy and they were completely cooked and not runny at all. His breading was completely soggy and his hashbrowns were undercooked. My french toast was basically raw in the middle. We spoke to the manager and she basically just said "oh sorry" but then proceeded to pay for our shakes which were the only part of the meal that we actually enjoyed. On top of this it was 67 dollars for all of our food, it was terrible service and food for an outrageous price. read more
