Driving by and stopped by chance, but so glad we did. There was a special menu for New Year's Eve. We had the Chicken Oscar, Ring in the Beef, Coconut Prawns & crème brulee. Everything was delicious, but if I had to pick the chicken Oscar was the best. The chicken was nice and juicy topped with crab and asparagus. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. They were booked with New Year's reservations and squeezed us in. I definitely recommend coming here.

We really enjoy the eclectic ambiance of Fupiuis! Super old fashioned with interesting collections to view! Enjoyed yummy fried pickle appetizer, the seafood pasta and the Old Fashioned. Everything was top notch, including the service!

Steak Dupuis - charbroiled, bacon-wrapped filet mignon capped with Dungeness crab and burgundy crimini reduction and potatoes Dupuis

Dupuis - Port Angeles, WA Dupuis is a cozy, charming steak and seafood spot in Port Angeles. They're only open 4-8 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, so reservations are a must. The dining room is intimate, quirky, warmly lit, and decorated for Halloween when we visited--tables, walls, and countertops all had fun, seasonal touches. Perfect for a date night or special meal. We started with Lemondrops (perfectly balanced) and "Frickles" (crispy, battered fried pickles). The house crab cakes were fresh and paired wonderfully with a sweet-and-sour pineapple and cranberry compote. Dinner comes with soup or salad, warm rolls, and a choice of sides like potatoes "Dupuis," whipped yams, or wild rice pilaf. For my entrée, I had the Steak Dupuis ($63) -- a charbroiled, bacon-wrapped filet mignon topped with Dungeness crab and a burgundy crimini reduction. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Others in our party enjoyed Chimichurri petite tender, seafood pasta, pan-fried chicken breast, and fish & chips, and everyone loved their meals. Service was attentive and friendly without hovering, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet special. Dupuis is reasonably priced for what you get. The food, service, and charm make it worth it. Verdict: Highly recommended for date nights or small celebrations. Book ahead, bring an appetite, and someone you like. Enjoy!

Prawns and Dupuis potatoes

This is a very interesting place--it's like they are trying too hard to be unique with their decor and menu, but it falls flat. Outside, it gives a dive bar or country hangout spot. Indoors it is very campy, with glass trinkets and antiques everywhere. There is a cute room with a bar and different dining areas with cutesy, antiquey things all over. I'm giving my three stars because the hostess and waitress were lovely! They made sure we were happy and had what we needed. The food was okay, but not great as others have said. My grilled prawns were plain and I got their signature Dupuis potatoes which was more like hot potato salad with too much sour cream than scalloped potatoes. My hubby's smoked salmon pasta was very thick and heavy, but just not excellent. Our salads were okay but the carrots that they marinate with cinnamon were an odd addition. They taste like Big Red gum. We did opt for dessert, a berry cobbler. It wasn't too bad, but wasn't as warm as we like it. But it already had ice cream so no use sending it back. The coffee weight say was excellent. Shout out to the waitress and hostess, they deserve a nice raise.

Right on the side of US101 heading into Port Angeles is a wonderful eclectic dining experience with a unique selection of seafood, pasta and meat dishes to satisfy any craving, complemented with freshly baked honey rolls. Even the cocktails were generous by Seattle standards. The hostesses were very friendly and offered helpful suggestions. Honestly, the best crab cakes we've had in the Northwest and the Steak Dupuis was superb. Try to save room for their dessert selection!

We stopped here on our way to Olympic National park for the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised, it was really good. It is directly on the side of the road with not too many other places around. We had house margaritas, my husband had the seafood Alfredo and I had the breaded chicken breast plate. All of the food was delicious, no complaints there. The server was so nice and attentive. The inside was cute and cozy, like an old house. A nice stop from our drive from Tacoma to the forks area.

Oyster chowder (bowl)

We originally wanted to get takeout from here, but I'm glad they denied our request on the basis of being too busy in the restaurant. We ended up dining in and it was 100% the right decision. It would have been a shame to come to town and not pay this restaurant a visit (or re-visit). This is the oldest restaurant on the peninsula and their interior decor is one-of-a-kind whimsical and charming. It has been renovated over the years but still maintains a nostalgic vibe with its wooden ceilings, glass decorations, and old-school curtains. Since we came in October, they already had a lot of fantastic halloween decorations adorning the entire restaurant. Just seeing how seriously they take halloween makes me wonder what amazing things they'll do for November and December. If I could describe the food here in one word it could be rich, in the best sense possible. Everything is made from scratch and so satisfying. We started off with their oyster chowder and it is the best of its kind that I've ever had. Go for the bowl (not cup), period. Their crab cakes were good too but it's hard to beat the chowder in the appetizer category. For our main courses, we had a pecan crusted salmon (special of the day), and seafood gnocchi. My personal preference is the seafood gnocchi- so creamy, buttery and will put you in a carb coma for the rest of the evening. I'm putting this place on my list of restaurants to come back to next time I'm in the area.

After a first attempt where a restaurant's hours were not updated, we found Stymie's in Sequim. It's one of the restaurants at Cedars at Dungeness golf course (the other one is Double Eagle Steak and Seafood). It seems to be the more casual of the two options and we opted for it since we were in hiking clothes. The hostess told us we could walk in and try to find a table. She warned us it might be a long wait. Thankfully, we found a place to sit right away and a waiter gave us waters and a menu. We ordered cups of clam chowder to start. Thankfully they were out quickly. We got drinks while we waited for our food. The Dungeness crab Mac and cheese was listed as an appetizer, so we assumed it was a small portion. My husband got the fish and chips and I got pasta with shrimp. We got our entrees first, so we thought maybe the waitress had forgotten we ordered the Mac and cheese since they were so busy. She then apologized for the wait and said she'd be bringing it out shortly. We weren't planning on asking about it because their portions are very generous and even though we were hungry, we realized it was so much food. When the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese finally came out, it wasn't in a small cup, it was a whole bowl of delicious goodness. The Mac and cheese was resting in some sort of sauce and they were extremely generous with the crab. I loved that you could control the ratio with each bite. I wish I had taken pictures of the menu and its description, but all you need to know is that it's the BEST Mac and cheese I've ever had. I was floored that it wasn't mentioned in any review nor pictures. Maybe it's a new addition. Don't walk, RUN if you're nearby. You won't regret it and it will be worth the wait. I forgot all about my entree and just focused on the Mac.

They were perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, all heightened by a lovely drizzle of honey. 5/5 Fried Chicken Sandwich - This sandwich was a monstrosity! If I were Sasquatch, I'd still be full after eating this. They practically put two fillets into one sandwich. The breading was flavorful, and the chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. I definitely appreciated the generous portion size. 4/5 Ahi Tuna - Deliciously fresh and simple. The tuna was lightly seared and served sashimi-style with a perfect rare interior. Being so close to the ocean makes you appreciate how fresh seafood can taste, and they deliver that here. It's lightly dressed with soy sauce and citrus to bring out the natural flavor of the fish. 5/5 Service & Atmosphere - The service was great, and we were seated quickly. (balsamic vinegar goodness) Menu is somewhat small but they have a great Chicken sandwich that is perfection in crunch, best batter Ive had (since Oak in Seattle. I think it originally was the sister to Spruce but changed owners.?) The other star dish is pork schnitzel, tasty all around and I love the capers, the red cabbage side, it's not too big, so you can finish the meal. (which is perfect as I don't think it would carry well to reheat due to gravy) I can't forget to compliment the service. Our waiter checked on us often, gave suggestions when we asked, water always was refilled which we appreciated so much. Service is lost nowadays but not here! So come here for a small plate and specialty cocktails or craft beer night or a full meal. The only underwhelming item was the side of fries that come with the sandwich was meh, but they do have decorated ones you can order as side that might be more tasty.

Ordering is usually done via QR code, but they are also happy to orders at the register. One thing to note: on our visit, the restaurant left the front door open and didn't turn on heating so we found it rather cold inside. Clam Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl ($14) - Salty Girls has one of the best preparations for chowder bread bowls I've encountered. They expertly hollow out the center as much as absolutely possible, leaving maybe only half an inch of bread on the sides (I think they use the trimmings to make their homemade croutons). This allows them to ladle in the maximal amount of clam chowder, much more than most I've had in the past. While I believe the bread is some commercial one, it has a distinct, but light, sourdough taste and doesn't have the overwhelming taste of stabilizers and preservatives that some bread bowls run into. It's toasted very nicely, giving a fantastic crust, while the interior bread remains light rather than dense, yet holds up to the chowder well. The chowder itself is pretty good. It's thickened, but still just runny enough to not feel like it's been over reduced. Not clumpy or super heavy as some other chowders. There's a strong herbal quality in the mix, combined with large pieces of clam and bacon. The amount of clam isn't very generous, but there's enough of the chewy mollusk to get at least a piece per spoonful. Lots of tender diced potato chunks complete the chowder. There's by far the most potato in terms of ingredients in this dish, making it very carb heavy. The chowder is served steaming hot and remains quite hot for a long while even in the cold air of the restaurant. (4/5) Crab Melt ($18) - Interesting open faced sandwich, with the crusty heel portion of a ciabatta roll, toasted until crispy on the flats, but still softer on the interior, albeit thin. It's topped with an ice cream scoop of crab salad. The salad is essentially tuna salad with the crab substituted for tuna. This means there's a ton of crab and not much filler - plenty of sweet shreds of crab meat, mixed with a couple of crunchy pieces of celery in a creamy sauce. The crab salad is then topped with cheese, then the entire creation is broiled until the cheese on top becomes bubbly and the cheese that flows down the sides of the bread becomes essentially a crunchy cheese skirt. Something to note, not necessarily a negative, is that the center of the crab salad scoops remains cold, which is in stark contrast to the warmed exterior. The dish comes with a side of ridged kettle chips. Robustly crunchy, simply salted. Surprisingly good to dip into the clam chowder in fact. (4/5) Salty Girls definitely serves some good seafood dishes. I certainly wouldn't mind returning the next time I'm in Seqium. My husband ordered a beer and asked if we could please place our dinner order as we had to get home sooner than later...Server caustically remarked only drink orders as she was too busy (being a former bartender and long time server myself I had noticed the large dining room was not crowded) and at least 20 minutes later when she was passing thru again for several more drink orders he asked again about placing our food order and this time she ripped into him, rudely... and informed him she would have to work 10 times harder if she took our food order. I was shocked that she would speak to him in such a unprofessional manner, I told her we had not come in to be snarled at by the wait staff and we got up to leave, she yelled at my husband to just forget the beer cost and we left embarrassed about the scene she created as the rest of our group was arriving. He called this morning to discuss this with the young male manager who proceeded to berate him for the treatment of the server!! and claimed that the group applauded the server after we left ( we spoke to several bowlers that were there and the managers claim was certainly not anything that any of them experienced.....he told my husband we were not welcome to come back and we certainly will not if that is how the restaurant is being ran by the new ownership.
