    Happy Hours Shrimp Tacos

Heads-up: There's a 2.5% credit card processing fee, avoid it by paying cash or using a debit card. Located onsite at the Red Lion Hotel, this spot has pleasant outdoor seating with umbrellas, offering half a view of the bay and pedestrian walkway, and half of the wharf. Breakfast and lunch are served on one side, dinner at The Compass Room on the other. Food quality is typical hotel restaurant fare, nothing remarkable. Daily happy hour runs 4-6 pm. Our server was excellent, especially considering he had four tables and we were the only ones seated outside. What we ordered: -Oyster shooter ($2 HH): Far too large for a shooter, skip it. -Shrimp tacos (2 for $12 HH): No flavor. -Grilled cheese & tomato bisque ($14 HH): Nice crispy sourdough, bisque had a bitter aftertaste. -Fish & chips (regular price): Just okay, fries were stale. We paid cash, forgot to ask for receipt so didn't remember the exact price on 8/11/2025. Free public parking at the wharf across the street, plus free street parking. Clean restrooms with toilet seat covers.

The food was so good!! Waitress said they have a new Chef. We had the parm crusted halibut topped with mango salsa, crab and artichoke dip and steamer clams....the broth, OMG, the broth. Everything was so good from the seasoned vegetables to the bread and side of macaroni and cheese. Coming back for sure!!!

We came in for a late breakfast and were told that we could choose our seat. There is a lovely model sailing vessel in the lobby that my child adored and it created all kinds of excitement and history questions to answer! There were oldies playing over speakers at a pleasant level and the patron noise was minimal, however if the restaurant were full I would expect a decent amount of hum as there are multiple tables available My child and I both ordered an all American breakfast. One regular and one kids sized. The food arrived quickly and the home potatoes were very hot and tasty. The bacon was of decent quality and warm. The scrambled eggs were warm and filling. The wheat toast was just approaching lightly dark. Although dark isn't my first choice, it was still tasty and well buttered. I hadn't realized we had come in a half hour before they closed at 11. (They close for lunch and then they open back up at 4pm for dinner service.) Our late arrival didn't change the level of service we received, which is very admirable. Having worked in restaurant's before, I make it a rule to try not to eat anywhere the last hour they are open. But I am pleasantly surprised when I get good service from the restaurants where I inadvertently break that rule. All and all a good breakfast and my child said: "Let's come eat here again next time we eat downtown." That's the best compliment he gives about eating out.

I was staying at the hotel and ordered pie to go. It took 10 minutes longer than they estimated and I got back to my room and it was frozen

    cheeseburger

The food quality was terrible, everyone's plate was bland, cold, seemed frozen/not fresh. when returning my mac i was offered to have it warmed/not re-made or something else from the menu which i kindly denied. read reviews and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and regret it. we are from LA so we appreciate food scenes, and eating local. however, we returned the food, asked to pay and leave, the waitress snapped, stating we only wanted free food (that we did not eat because it was horrible so i dont know how that makes sense to her but fine), she made it a scene, and yelled at my stepfather "go back to mexico". please avoid this racist establishment, you're better off at McDonalds.

"Truffle Parmesean Fries" . These are frozen Walmart fries with packaged refrigerated grated parmesean cheese on top. Sub par.

Ummmm... Not worth the money. We got the crab and shrimp cakes with Mac and Cheese and parm truffle fries. The cakes were OK. Mac and cheese cold and flavorless. Fries???? I could have made better at home. My $8 glass of reisling was only half full. Food was ehhh. Not worth the $$

It's like a fancier Dennys. Not bad priced and food was plentiful for breakfast. I'd eat here again when I visit.

Fried Brussels Sprouts - Fried to perfection. Brussels sprouts are ubiquitous these days, known for…read moretheir hearty health benefits and delicious taste, but this restaurant truly did them right. They were perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, all heightened by a lovely drizzle of honey. 5/5 Fried Chicken Sandwich - This sandwich was a monstrosity! If I were Sasquatch, I'd still be full after eating this. They practically put two fillets into one sandwich. The breading was flavorful, and the chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. I definitely appreciated the generous portion size. 4/5 Ahi Tuna - Deliciously fresh and simple. The tuna was lightly seared and served sashimi-style with a perfect rare interior. Being so close to the ocean makes you appreciate how fresh seafood can taste, and they deliver that here. It's lightly dressed with soy sauce and citrus to bring out the natural flavor of the fish. 5/5 Service & Atmosphere - The service was great, and we were seated quickly. Our waiter knew the daily specials by heart; he was quick yet succinct in explaining what the restaurant specializes in. I really enjoyed this place!

The bartenders are true mixologist and even have non/ alcoholic cocktails and 25 specialty bitters (dry jan anyone?) I enjoy all their appetizers every thing from, seared ahi tuna, bacon wrapped dates (you get 4 per order), crispy brussel sprouts are crack, they are so good. (balsamic vinegar goodness) Menu is somewhat small but they have a great Chicken sandwich that is perfection in crunch, best batter Ive had (since Oak in Seattle. I think it originally was the sister to Spruce but changed owners.?) The other star dish is pork schnitzel, tasty all around and I love the capers, the red cabbage side, it's not too big, so you can finish the meal. (which is perfect as I don't think it would carry well to reheat due to gravy) I can't forget to compliment the service. Our waiter checked on us often, gave suggestions when we asked, water always was refilled which we appreciated so much. Service is lost nowadays but not here! So come here for a small plate and specialty cocktails or craft beer night or a full meal. The only underwhelming item was the side of fries that come with the sandwich was meh, but they do have decorated ones you can order as side that might be more tasty.

It feels like every seat has a perfect, almost 360 view of the water. One of those spots where you catch yourself staring out the window mid-bite. Our server actually turned out to be from our area, which made for such an easy, fun conversation and added a really personal touch to the experience. The fish was the best I had in Port Angeles--fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you're eating right on the water. I also had to grab chicken tenders for the kids (mandatory parenting order), and those were solid too. And the house lemonade? No joke--so good. Also, little tip: they offer a discount if you pay in cash, which is a nice bonus.

No photo because no food.....Shocking experience at Downriggers last night 3/03/2026…read more Having been part of securing group reservations here for a number of years for our bowling group (under the former owner) when we arrived were sent to the little front dining room with horrible acoustics for groups, and when the server eventually came in there were only six of 12 seated, others filtered in over the next 30 minutes or so. My husband ordered a beer and asked if we could please place our dinner order as we had to get home sooner than later...Server caustically remarked only drink orders as she was too busy (being a former bartender and long time server myself I had noticed the large dining room was not crowded) and at least 20 minutes later when she was passing thru again for several more drink orders he asked again about placing our food order and this time she ripped into him, rudely... and informed him she would have to work 10 times harder if she took our food order. I was shocked that she would speak to him in such a unprofessional manner, I told her we had not come in to be snarled at by the wait staff and we got up to leave, she yelled at my husband to just forget the beer cost and we left embarrassed about the scene she created as the rest of our group was arriving. He called this morning to discuss this with the young male manager who proceeded to berate him for the treatment of the server!! and claimed that the group applauded the server after we left ( we spoke to several bowlers that were there and the managers claim was certainly not anything that any of them experienced.....he told my husband we were not welcome to come back and we certainly will not if that is how the restaurant is being ran by the new ownership.
