So glad we found this place on our way to ONP. They don't take reservations but they will add…read moreyou to a text based waitlist. We had a 15-20 min wait on a busy Tuesday night but we're glad we waited! Our server was friendly and helpful with choosing cocktails because they had a to. Of unique selection. Haven't ordered more than one at a restaurant before but had to try two here! We thoroughly enjoyed our final selections of Ginny from the Block, Garden era, strawberry bourbon smash and Blackberry goose beer! For our mains we got the alaskan cod and chips and Blackened cod tacos and loved it all. They really know how to prepare tasty cod! The Alaskan cod and chips had the perfect crispy texture and my blackened cod tacos had all the flavor profiles you need. A hint of heat in the Thai chili slaw with a creamy avocado, Crema and the brightness of mango salsa and of course a touch of sour with the HOUSE made pickled red onions. Even better they let me substitute corn tortillas in for the flour. But you can't mix and match your proteins. I didn't need to because I loved both of my blackened cod tacos. The atmosphere is in the name: cozy Gastropub. They have a plethora of beers on tap, but parking is solely on the street so a little bit more challenging than picking your beer but I don't think it would be too challenging if you're up for a small walk. We were able to walk from our Airbnb, so didn't have to figure that part out. Pretty sure it was farther than any walk you might have to do for parking!

The food here is good! We came in a little before 7pm on Tuesday night and there was a line to get on the waitlist for a very packed restaurant. We walked around for a bit, came back, and were able to snag a spot at the bar, so definitely recommend if you can swing it. I was hungry after a day of hiking and also a little cold so I grabbed a cup of their chowder and a salad. My partner also wanted to split an order of the mac & cheese, which is listed on the apps but is a VERY large portion. I almost wish I had forgone my chowder so that I could have eaten more of the mac & cheese. All of the food was very good. It took a little bit to come out, and the bartenders weren't too concerned with us, so you may have to get their attention if you need more water, another drink, etc. Like I said, the food here is very good. Definitely a great spot for lunch or dinner if you're in Port Angeles.

Firehouse came up with consistently good reviews, and what I noticed more than anything was the owner, Trevor, was individually feeling many responses; good or bad. This impressed me so we decided to grab some burgers. The young man taking our orders was manning the Lane outside the very small outlet. He was thorough, he knew his business, and he was polite with a great sense of humor. My partner had the bacon bleu burger and I had the aftershock smash. Like a scene out of When Harry Met Sally, we had all sorts of specific requests: no onions on this, Swiss instead of cheddar, whatever. The kiddo took this all in stride, unlike the professional he was repeated our order back to us without having made one mistake. By the way-it was all quite good. Burgers were good. Fries were good. The only offhand request would have been allowing me to try the speciality lemonade as part of my combo-we would have paid the up charge. As for as I'm concerned, if you're in the area and you want a burger, try them out. They have tons of choices and the smash options are solid. Thanks.

My 7yo wanted a burger, so I looked on Yelp. One thing I noticed was that the "Firehouse" Yelp…read morerepresentative responded to negative reviews. That means something to some of us. When we arrived, my son noticed that the order-taker "looked pretty young." I was able to tell him that this place was family-owned because of Yelp, so "maybe he is the owner's son. If so, that's pretty cool. I loved that we could order with three cars in front of us and, by the time we got to the window, we only had to wait a couple minutes for our two custom burgers. The 7yo told me his burger was "really good!" And I really liked the flavor of my Firehouse burger. We loved that there was a choice between regular fries and the waffle variety. Next time, and there will be a next time, I want to try the onion rings. I played it safe this time, but since I'll be back, that's a route I will take.

Brussels sprouts are ubiquitous these days, known for…read moretheir hearty health benefits and delicious taste, but this restaurant truly did them right. They were perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, all heightened by a lovely drizzle of honey. 5/5 Fried Chicken Sandwich - This sandwich was a monstrosity! If I were Sasquatch, I'd still be full after eating this. They practically put two fillets into one sandwich. The breading was flavorful, and the chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. I definitely appreciated the generous portion size. 4/5 Ahi Tuna - Deliciously fresh and simple. The tuna was lightly seared and served sashimi-style with a perfect rare interior. Being so close to the ocean makes you appreciate how fresh seafood can taste, and they deliver that here. It's lightly dressed with soy sauce and citrus to bring out the natural flavor of the fish. 5/5 Service & Atmosphere - The service was great, and we were seated quickly. Our waiter knew the daily specials by heart; he was quick yet succinct in explaining what the restaurant specializes in. I really enjoyed this place!

We were also warned that the kitchen gets "overwhelmed" with big groups, which we appreciated their honesty. Our table decided to order a variety of items and to share. My mom would've loved the schnitzel but when I asked if they could put the spaetzle and sauce on the side, the waiter told me "no, the chef won't do that because it would be visually unappealing." We ordered it anyway and it tasted good but my mom couldn't try it. I think it would've been fine if the spaetzel and sauce were on the side (would've been my preference too) so it would also keep the schnitzel crunchy. But anyway, we also ordered the seared tuna, which was too garlicky for our liking, the shrimp boil, which was very good, and the fried chicken, which was just ok. My sister sitting in the next booth also ordered the brussel sprouts and that was easily the star of the show! This restaurant allows kids but I'm not sure if I would really consider it to be "kid friendly" since they did not offer a kids menu. All-in-all, food was good, service was honest, and we would probably come back.

But then we were sat in the enclosed party area with two other tables, and not that it was the restaurant's fault but there were screaming children and the enclosed area just echoed everything. We thought to ask to move, and we should have. So note that if you get sat there. Our server was a sweet girl, took our order after grabbing us drinks and checked in to make sure we had everything. The main issue I had was the taste of the food since some dishes were a bit pricey. Three in our party ordered the fish and chips, that they all said was really bland and nothing special but the fries were crisp and good. My husband and I ordered the grilled Tiger Shrimp entree and the Salmon Fettuccine Alfredo. The shrimp were rubbery and tasted like that had been under the warm lamp for a bit. And I wish they would have side substitutions since the grilled veg was a squash zucchini mix with rice but it all had no flavor. The Salmon Alfredo was kinda the same. Bland and dry fish, but at least a good portion. But the sauce was broken and stringy, needing seasoning as well. My husband and I's ticket with sodas and one cup of pretty good clam chowder came to around $90 before tip. Needless to say we were disappointed with our first seafood experience since traveling from Arizona.

This was our stop on the way to Sekiu for a few days of fun and relaxation. However, this restaurant wasn't how we wanted to start out and we didn't do much in the way of research when looking for a quality eating establishment. First, the location. Everything in the Port Angeles Wharf was geared towards tourism. Good reason, right? On the water. Downtown. Tourists want something quick and easy, but you pay for it. The prices for the amount and quality of food were ridiculous. We would have been better off elsewhere and we had consulted a few of the non-food businesses we walked into for recommendations. I kept my meal simple, fish and chips with a Port Townsend Brewing Co., Hop Diggidy IPA. Maybe the lines were dirty, but this wasn't a good IPA and I didn't go back for a second one. The batter on the fish lacked seasoning, very one dimensional. Needed salt, as did the bater on the chicken tenders our son got. The coleslaw didn't look good, shades of light brown tells me it had been sitting around pre-prepared for service, lacked any sort of crunch. The fries, soggy and unappetizing. My girlfriend started with an Orange Blossom Martini. Didn't look very appetizing, especially for a vodka martini, but she said she enjoyed it. She ordered the petite ($27) Seafood Louie and thankfully asked for dressing on the side, as her mom's salad was absolutely drenched with too much dressing. Heavy on tourists. Service that was average, at best. But what really didn't feel right was the vibe of the place, it looked and felt dirty, from the tables and chairs to the floors and windows. I would like to think locals have a better spot to go because this establishment didn't win me over. I won't be going back.
