If you're on your way north to Port Townsend, stop here for a single 16oz patty cheeseburger with the works. Classic tavern with beer & wine. Pool table, pulltabs, & darts. Has outdoor beer garden 1/2 covered.

Chuck joined us for lunch, such a nice man! Thank you for hosting us!!

We were in the area this week for a Bachelorette Party and stopped by to sit on the beautiful patio for lunch. The patio is lined with gorgeous flowers and bushes that are maintained by one of the owners Karen. Had a wonderful time, ate the awesome hamburgers and drank a few libations! Toward the end of our lunch, Karen's husband & owner Chuck came by and joined us! Wonderful to hear his stories of the past and learn about his commitment to his business and to the community. We can't wait to visit again. We will be back on that deck soon!! Would definitely recommend, great service, delicious food & mostly, wonderful hospitality!

The grill. Or more accurately, the broiler. This is where your Valley Burger is made.

James Brown might be the hardest working man in show business, but the bartenders here are the hardest working women in the tavern business. (I don't think I've ever seen a guy behind the bar.) That's because your bartender is also your cook. There is a grill and a microwave behind the bar and they are used to turn out everything on the menu. The "World Famous" Valley Burger is only somewhat world famous, because nearby Navy personnel who frequent the tavern travel around the world and tell others about it. You burger is a fresh 1/2-pound patty that is cooked broiler behind the bar. They flip it then pave it with jalapeños and add a mountain of onions on top. They add grated Tillamook cheddar, melt it and add a second layer or cheese and toast the bun. They add their own "secret sauce" (yep it's the standard orange sauce), stick a plastic knife in the top to hold everything together and serve it with a bag of Ruffles. The place is a little local tavern that seems mostly unchanged from the 50's or 60's. In the summer they have a BBQ outside in a large fenced area. Most of the beer taps are pretty pedestrian, but they do have a rotating amber on tap. Yep, always an amber beer of some sort. There is a ginormous wooded statue of John Wayne on the way in. Sort of a 'wooden cowboy.' I need to ask the story behind that some day.

Great burgers. Hole in the wall. Beer is decent price. Friendly but a bit dingy. Meat is from minder meat.

Terrible fish sandwich and slow service along with a cash only policy when you have no cash equals a terrible experience!

Great food, great band…read more They need more bartenders and wait staff tho!! Omg don't make people stand in line for 15 minutes to get a beer. Figure it out.

Finally a week ago, I was able to have two orders, one that was a BBQ flavor and the other traditional hot. We also ordered a basket of tater tots. This was the best item for our entire evening by far. Such a generous order, too. We didn't think we'd finish them when they arrived, but given the quality of the wings (not so great), we did mow them all up. The dings: well, the wings were just meh. Fatty, not crispy, smoke flavor ok...but neither the BBQ nor the hot were particulary good. Big ding: ZERO white wine. Last time, ok, there was no Chardonnay, I can accept that (barely...this is NOT a Chardonnay kind of place). But this time, red only. Apparently they don't stock any white...I can see where it might not be a big draw, but hey, just buy a BOX of it, keep it in the fridge and someone will order it in the 30 days the box holds its freshness. Second big ding: NO darker, heartier beer than lagers and IPAs. Not even an Alaskan Amber in a bottle. I guess if the guests don't drink it, then why order it. We probably won't come back except for when the Badd Doggs Blues Society plays, but couldn't we BRING in what we want to drink and pay a corkage? Or do we have to go out in the parking lot and sneak a shot? I really WANT to support this place, but, as of now, except for the tots, I'm not sure what I'd come here for. And that's not enough. Bring back Zoog's breaded Jalapeno poppers!

It's not large but there were plenty of tables and seats at the bar I honestly cannot remember the name of the drink I had but it hit the spot and wasn't too sweet (always a plus in my book) we also had the Trio of house made dips 3/5 which was chunky hummus, a dried tomato and walnut romesco and feta kopanisti with LOTS of pita bread. I really liked The In Between's logo and interior design, it felt like stepping into the Prohibition era. We ordered a drink each from the Seasonal Summer Menu and shared a hummus plate. The drinks were nothing extraordinary but pretty good, and the hummus plate was a great shareable snack for the two of us. However, the service was super slow and frustrating. The staff were overextended since they were taking on both the bartender and server roles, so it was very difficult to catch their attention. We ended up having to approach them while they were in the middle of making a drink after trying to flag them down for 20 minutes and failing. We were in a bit of a rush towards the end so this was not the best experience, but definitely a bar worth checking out if you're not in a rush and have a lot of patience!
