Jason never fails to deliver the best British Fish and chip meal you will have this side of London, whether you choose Cod, Halibut or Haddock. The batter is light and crisp and NOT soggy, uncooked, or greasy. His Coleslaw is fresh and creamy and he Panko shrimp are crisp and tasty. I brought home my extras to have the next day. The service is top notch with two neatly dressed servers who attended to me regularly. Also I noticed they were doing takeout at the same time. With ample parking outside, I also noticed they catered to people with mobility issues as there is ample room inside for walkers or wheelchairs. Two thumbs up. I'm a halibut lover, and have been a pretty regular customer at saltys fish and chips well, at Least a few times a year anyway, and when my grandparents are in town, I always take the down for fish and chips.a few weeks ago they were here for they're yearly visit and we went down to saltys, and I was just totally blown away with how the standards hade slipped over the years. I was the portion of halibut was vey small, under the six oZ they're supposed to be, or maybe it was the way it was cut, but it was way too thin, and was horrible, I figured I just happened to be unlucky, but both of my grandparents were the same thickness, it just changes the whke texture of the fish, when it's like that. Almost like it say too long under a heat lamp, and I know that it wasn't the case, so there's that. Also the coleslaw was piss poor, so much has changed over the last few years there maybe it's new management or something, but they should really bee dumped from the franchise. And I used to be they're biggest fan.And another thing, their tartar sauce used to be the best thing about the place- I mean, I could have forgiven the puny,wafer thin, overdone fish, if I had that beautiful tartar from the past, and that's the real tragedy here, because the new tartar was dad gummed awful, pardon my French . A side note- the service was not the greatest neither, our server barely talked to us, other than to take our order and hand us our check. Despite walking right past us fifty times , never asked if things were ok, or if we needed water. I myself, never bother to send things back, I just don't return, and if you were a fan of saltys 3-4years ago,I recommend you don't bother with them now, and the prices these days, are insane it's now up to 19 bucks for 2 thin filets of halibut, maybe the cod is better now. Go to the doghouse right across the street, they have great fish and chips for waaaay cheaper. read more
