We came here last Saturday around 4:30 and ordered a shrimp cocktail. When ordering at the counter I asked the hostess what kind of shrimp was used (some prepare with cocktail shrimp & others with jumbo shrimp) & was told. 4 large shrimp. I also ordered a small caesar salad and was asked if I wanted to add chicken so said yes. The shrimp cocktail was served with TAILS off (how does one pick up a shrimp with no tail?) and the shrimp were medium sized and PRE-dunked in the sauce. No lemon.I guess the kitchen does not know how to prepare a shrimp cocktail. The caesar was dried out chopped romaine pre mixed with jarred dressing and somehow dry and the chicken was a chopped up dried out FRIED chicken strip! The menu didn't indicate the chicken was fried & I have never experienced that unless as a special southern fried chicken salad. Very odd and really sub par food for this nice setting/location. Another solid addition to the South Whidbey restaurant scene. Osprey is a perfect fit for Coupeville-high end but informal fish and chips place with great salads and drinks . Especially when the outside is open they also have a lot of seating. We had fish and chips, oysters and a Caesar salad. The fries are French frites style and wonderful. The fish was great-crispy and moist but a slight nit that it is pretty far from Tempura as advertised. The salad was good although I think you lose points when core pieces of the lettuce head are left in. And, even with this ordering style, salad should not come out last. But these are not big points-really great place to get a nice meal quickly. Everyone was very friendly and service was quick. With Oystercatcher, Goldie's and now Osprey it is clear that ownership really knows what they are doing. read more

We got into Coupeville last night and were starving. A quick search on yelp suggested Osprey for relatively quick and good eats. We were able to order at the counter and grab a table right away! The atmosphere was very unique - IMO kind of 50's diner meets Beachfront restaurant, very fun! The staff was super nice too. It picked up as we were finishing our meals, around 630-7pm or so. My only qualm, and thus the 4 stars, was that the portion size was a little small for what you pay. Maybe I just ordered the "wrong" thing (Oyster Po-Boy), but it tasted great! If you come to whidbey island you got to come here. This was definitely our favorite eat on the island. It is a little pricey but I think well worth it. We got the fish and chips and cioppino. It is definitely a casual place, but a great place to enjoy the freshest oysters, savory mussels (that broth!) and the most refreshing French 45 cocktail to wash it all down. You order at the counter and take a seat either inside or outside. We opted to stay inside since it was getting a little chilly outside. Only bummer about being inside was that there were some flies that were circulating, but it didn't hinder our experience. I was in Coupeville for the annual "Greening of Coupeville Parade" and stopped in at the Osprey Fish Co. for a bite to eat. I decided on the Fried Chicken Sando and asked for it to go. I was told that today was my lucky day because that was their last order of the fried chicken! When I got it and opened the to go box I noticed that one half of the sandwich had fallen apart. I discovered that was because there was a very generous amount of sliced up fried chicken When I bit in to it the bun was nice and fresh, the chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy inside. I was also pleased with whatever the sauce was. Very tasty! The two halves were lying on top of a bed of shoestring fries. I ate a few of them just to taste and they were still warm and crispy. Went here with the family for a snack. We tried the French onion soup listed as miso soup, veggie tempura fish and chips and some assorted beverages. Speed of service and atmosphere was good. Fish and chips were good but the fries seemed a bit too crunchy/hard and may have taken a second dip in the fryer. Soup was good French onion . Did not seem to have miso in it- but still good. And that leaves us with the veggie tempura. It seems there is one clunker in each order and this was it. Over cooked and unrecognizable as a vegetable. If you are used to Japanese veggie tempura - don't order. Otherwise good place, pricey but clean and neat. Parking can get tight. We will return to try other items on the menu. Like most new places nowadays, it's at an order at the counter pay first, grab a number and then friendly staff brings your food as it comes up from the kitchen. I liked they had many seafood items to choose from and carry a variety of beverages, such as seasonal ciders, craft beer and even margarita slushies. I thought the fish and chips basket for the price was just ok. However, all the other dishes were amazing. Favorites at our table were Ciopino, which had a complex tasty broth, the Mussels were well executed as well in superb broth served with sourdough toast, both were worth the cost; Mushrooms tempura, were really good and generous serving, as were the Poboy oysters or fish sandwiches. The aioli they serve with baskets was very good. I think my fries must have been made well ahead of time so they were cold but the fish was good and hot. (might just need better heat lamp?) Malt vinegar is available for shoestring fries which was nice. Seating: indoors and a couple outdoor seats. Lines form right at opening for lunch, looks like a local favorite. read more

Food came out quickly and hot and we were pleasantly surprised at the flavors and quality. The mussels were phenomenal.
