Went here with the family for a snack. We tried the French onion soup listed as miso soup, veggie tempura fish and chips and some assorted beverages. Speed of service and atmosphere was good. Fish and chips were good but the fries seemed a bit too crunchy/hard and may have taken a second dip in the fryer. Soup was good French onion . Did not seem to have miso in it- but still good. And that leaves us with the veggie tempura. It seems there is one clunker in each order and this was it. Over cooked and unrecognizable as a vegetable. If you are used to Japanese veggie tempura - don't order. Otherwise good place, pricey but clean and neat. Parking can get tight. We will return to try other items on the menu. If you come to whidbey island you got to come here. This was definitely our favorite eat on the island. It is a little pricey but I think well worth it. We got the fish and chips and cioppino. Fish and chips ($20) flaky and crispy. It was fried perfectly. It comes with a large basket of shoestring fries that were perfectly crispy. So good. Cioppino ($28) my husband and I have never had this dish before but it was so good! They do not skimp on the seafood and you could tell that the quality was so fresh. French 45 + Mussels + Oysters = Heaven! I flew up from LA to visit my friend and she took me to her beloved mussel place and it did not disappoint! It is definitely a casual place, but a great place to enjoy the freshest oysters, savory mussels (that broth!) and the most refreshing French 45 cocktail to wash it all down. You order at the counter and take a seat either inside or outside. We opted to stay inside since it was getting a little chilly outside. Only bummer about being inside was that there were some flies that were circulating, but it didn't hinder our experience. We had such a great time that we somehow downed 3 French 45s each, had our own bowls of mussels and shared 24 oysters. We were having the time of our lives!! THIS PLACE!!! ok cannot overstate how incredible osprey fish is. we stumbled in as we landed for the weekend in coupeville and it honestly might be one of the best meals i've had all year. the food was absolutely outstanding: fresh, perfectly executed. the drink options were fantastic. even the MERCH was adorable, which like, that's the attention to detail that gets me. is it a little pricey? yes. is it worth every single cent? absolutely yes. zero hesitation. the woman working when we visited was SO lovely: a breath of fresh air, warm and attentive and just made the whole experience feel special. and ok i need to dedicate a full paragraph to the GLUTEN FREE FISH AND CHIPS because i am still thinking about them. as someone who can't do gluten, finding a GF version that actually SLAPS is rare and precious and osprey delivered in the most incredible way. best gluten free fish and chips i have ever had in my life, full stop. my partner had the regular version plus oysters and we both had to physically restrain ourselves from spending every meal of our trip here. if you're on whidbey island this is a MUST. non-negotiable. go immediately. read more

I was in Coupeville for the annual "Greening of Coupeville Parade" and stopped in at the Osprey Fish Co. for a bite to eat. I decided on the Fried Chicken Sando and asked for it to go. I was told that today was my lucky day because that was their last order of the fried chicken! When I got it and opened the to go box I noticed that one half of the sandwich had fallen apart. I discovered that was because there was a very generous amount of sliced up fried chicken When I bit in to it the bun was nice and fresh, the chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy inside. I was also pleased with whatever the sauce was. Very tasty! The two halves were lying on top of a bed of shoestring fries. I ate a few of them just to taste and they were still warm and crispy. Like most new places nowadays, it's at an order at the counter pay first, grab a number and then friendly staff brings your food as it comes up from the kitchen. I liked they had many seafood items to choose from and carry a variety of beverages, such as seasonal ciders, craft beer and even margarita slushies. I thought the fish and chips basket for the price was just ok. However, all the other dishes were amazing. Favorites at our table were Ciopino, which had a complex tasty broth, the Mussels were well executed as well in superb broth served with sourdough toast, both were worth the cost; Mushrooms tempura, were really good and generous serving, as were the Poboy oysters or fish sandwiches. The aioli they serve with baskets was very good. I think my fries must have been made well ahead of time so they were cold but the fish was good and hot. (might just need better heat lamp?) Walked in after a busy day at the arts & crafts festival and enjoyed that we were able to step right up to the counter to place our order. Food came out quickly and hot and we were pleasantly surprised at the flavors and quality. The mussels were phenomenal. Not impressed. Very expensive for what you get. My husband had the shrimp and shoelace fries ($20). But take the batter off the shrimp and there is only half a shrimp. They cut them in half and batter them. $20 for 2 whole shrimp which were also overcooked and rubbery (appeared they cooked in shell, then removed and cooked again when deep fried) and 3x the amount of fries that are needed. I had the ceviche was good but 1/4 cup of ceviche and 3x the chips for $19 again is too expensive. Won't be going back. read more

A minute or so later the cashier/waiter came by from outside and plopped down fish and chips. Clearly an over or miss order from someone else. Both items were tasty and I know everything is more expensive now but this would have felt to be a better value if some of the way over generous portion of fries gave way to some coleslaw.
