Had a day trip to Whidbey and while exploring stumbled upon Seabolt's and decided to stop for lunch. We were seated right away, although it seems the lunch rush happened shortly after we came. Our waitress was so friendly and quick to put our order in. The sampler platter comes with a piece of fried cod, fried salmon and fried halibut along with fries. All of it was fried perfectly, and I would say my favorite was the halibut. It comes with tartar sauce and we got a side of chipotle lime sauce for an extra 75 cents. My friend got the crab and shrimp Louie, and which came with a lot of crab meat and small shrimps. I chose the Single taco with Halibut and the hard-shell corn tortilla packed with seasoned, sautéed halibut, Chili Lime Tartar, salsa, cheddar cheese and cabbage. The taco was erved with tortilla chips. I ate the tortilla chips with the salsa and I think that was the best part of the dish! I'm not saying the taco was bad! It was very delicious and the chili lime tartar was on point! But, that salsa was incredibly flavorful. I am a fan of spicy food and this salsa was not burn you tongue hot, but it did have a bit of heat to it! If you're a fan of spicy food I think you will enjoy this salsa. If you don't like spicy, you might want to avoid it, or try a tiny bit first. I had a tiny bit of confusion with the servers today. I think maybe they were new? This place is seriously underrated. It's a fast casual restaurant / deli with top tier seafood. Everything on the captains platter represents the best version of itself I've ever had. I don't even like halibut usually and they managed to get the halibut texture to be flavorful and not dry. The oysters are juicy and bursting with flavor, something that is often not true when served fried. The salmon and cod are still tender underneath a crispy crust and seasoned or marinated throughout. They overcome the pitfall of 99% of fried fish restaurants by ensuring the fish on the inside is not bland in comparison to the breading. You get a lot of bang for your buck. The captains platter comes on 2 separate plates with sides and although it claims to feed 2, it realistically could feed 3. The chowder is loaded and rich. Their house made sauces elevate all the dishes and are noticeably better than your standard bulk tartars at other places. The breading on the razor clams is outstanding and has a refreshing aftertaste of black pepper. All the breading is crispy and flavorful but also very thin. You get a lot of fish with every bite. a cute little place we went for the first time in Oak Harbor with friends. After we all read reviews we weren't sure about this place but we gave it a shot. First we looked around to see what a quant place it was . A very friendly welcoming hello from the waitress. We started with a Salmon Pate very good with pita bread and slice oranges. Not overwhelming in taste. Everyone had the fried Cod and fries. Looked really good and crispy and totally not greasy. I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder soup. Omg This was the thickest soup I have ever had so thick my spoon stood straight up in the middle and did not fall over . Also ordered was their onion rings Not greasy at all and you can actually taste the freshness of the onion but not to overwhelming. You can also buy fresh fish and shellfish in the case . Everything is very clean and was not loud. It's a small place but worth going. Prices are not bad at all . Enough fish and fries with coleslaw. Nit like other places with more fries then fish. We went to the desolation place state park and drove by this town. Very surprised to found this seafood place from yelp. They have awesomely fresh seafood. There is a prep place on the side and we smell the fish right at the entrance. Ordered the seafood stew, halibut and ahi tuna. Everything tastes super fresh and cooked to perfection, aka, you can still taste the freshness from the fish. The wait was a little long but it is understandable because the food is good. What caught my attention is that the people cleaning do a very good job cleaning the tables quickly it seems as though they are used to having multiple customers. The fish is delicious , fresh, and everything we ordered tasted great! Even the clam chowder was legit! They don't skimp on anything. Ambience is sailor themed which I appreciated. Lastly, our server Sean is an excellent waiter. He was speedy, briefly explained an intro to our orders, he checked on us regularly and on top of that he was refilling our waters. We were in Oak Harbor during a recent beach tour of Whidbey, and looking for some lunch. Yelp led us to Seabolt's to satisfy some serious fish & chip cravings. First off, the food was excellent! We shared a plate of their halibut & chips and a large house salad. The fish was fresh, flaky, and came with all the required fixin's (like tartar sauce, malt vinegar, etc), and the fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The accompanying cole slaw was good, too, but a bit under seasoned for my tastes. The salad was delish as well - it had a lot of black olives on it which I personally love! We also got a couple of beers, which are served from bottles/cans in a frosty glass. Would be a great option if they added beer on tap at some point, because who doesn't love a frosty mug o' fresh beer with their fish? I did have two issues that soured my experience. First, the service was pretty slow. There were a lot of staff, and the place was only about 1/2 full. Our drink orders were taken but we had to remind our server, and a table that came in after us actually got their orders taken first. It wasn't the end of the world, just annoying. The biggest annoyance was their cash vs. credit policy. I get it, credit card fees can add up for a business and I totally respect it. But the way they go about offering a "cash discount" is pretty shady, in my opinion. There's a SMALL sign by the front door, and one on the BACK of the menu, announcing that all listed prices are if you pay with cash. If you use a card, they tack on a 3.8% "service charge." It's not so much the policy, but the way they don't make it obvious you'll be charged nearly 4% more, that felt really hinky and left me with a sour taste in my mouth when we left. read more

Let me start with the very nice service team up front and their excellent food (when it finally arrived). The clam chowder was delicious, super nice pieces of clam. We also had nice fish and chips, the tacos had a great taste, but barely any fish in them, so maybe they were low on the fish that day? Now the bad, we arrived on a Saturday and the table wait of 30min was ok, but the issue was the wait for the food itself. Service seated us quickly and came through to take the order, but the food took a good hour and tables that arrived after some tables that got seated with us, had their food first. I'm not sure what was going on, but it definitely wasn't a good experience in the sense of sitting around starving. If you know there is trouble in the kitchen, come out with a quick snack to hold people over. We were seated at 12:30 and didn't have food until 1:30 and I wasn't the only one hangry, the table behind us got very antsy too. You gotta work through it, bring out a couple of cheap chips and salsa, apologize for the kitchen and people would be happier. Just a thought! If we ever come back, I'd either roll in at 11 when the kitchen staff is fresh and the food chaos hasn't started yet or maybe past 1:30 when the lunch rush is done. read more

Tried this out on a whim as we headed down 20 to the Coupeville Ferry. Pretty good food, excellent service, and a busy but welcoming dining room. Our group tried out the clam chowder (in a bread bowl of course), a catch of the day crab cake with seasoned fries, and the halibut fish tacos in a soft shell. They were all tasty. I liked the fries a lot. The clam chowder was the best of the three. The tacos needed some more flavor. They aren't bad but not incredible. The salsa was surprising. It looked like a cup of chopped tomatoes but had some hidden flavors in it, not spicy like I prefer but enjoyable. Our servers were excellent. We hardly had to wait and they were very nice. The room is great for conversation and you can watch the food being made if you want. All in all a great stop if you're on the islands out here. read more

Wow this place was incredible!!! I placed a pickup order for dinner and was really pleased with my order. I ordered the sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder and it was absolutely delicious. It was creamy and salty and chunky with meat and fillings. I loved dipping the sourdough bread in the soup and ate every last bite. My boyfriend got fish and chips and that was incredible as well. On a Sunday of running errands in Oak, my wife and I wanted a nice lunch. We've driven by often and decided to try. It was pretty empty when we arrived. A lot of staff going between the restaurant and an adjacent processing center with huge windows. Interesting operation. They were almost over the top friendly. Very simple casual dining room that was clean. She ordered the shrimp poorboy and fries. Tasty popcorn shrimp and generous nicely cooked seasoned fries! The sauce was a bit heavy on the sandwich. She loved it but couldn't finish. Like $10.95!!! Bargain by Seattle prices. We got there just after noon on a Sunday with a pretty empty dining room. By the time we left it was packed with a wait starting. We got there at the perfect time but they were turning tables fast by then. I got the cod fish and chips. Awesome! And lots of fries and a little slaw. $16.95. Perfectly fried. Many high end seafood restaurants can't touch this quality of fried fish and price. They obviously know how to operate a fryer at a perfect temp which the nice seafood joints my wife likes can't often do and I get a mushy piece of overpriced fish. They also have a small cash discount which I chose to use with a good tip. Some people on Yelp have complained about this policy and tactic but it's simply a great option provided by a business going some "thinking"! I'd go for this over air miles on my credit cards if this were more available. We will likely stop by in the future if just for a snack on the road or to split a Togo order.
