Shrimp fettuccine alfredo & steak & patatoes

Great and fun atmosphere. We had a wonderful waitress/bartender cannot remember her name but I believe she was 75.. She was the sweetest great conversation. food was good. We had the steak and the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. I enjoyed it when are the better meals we had in whidbey. But honestly, it was the waitress/bartender that made our night.

Krakens Cove is a brand new bar/eatery on Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor. I really like the decor and the ambiance. There is a flat screen TV with external speakers flanking it on a wall with a small, raised stage in front of it. From what I understand it's for Karaoke, but I haven't seen it used for that. There are 10 tables for dining and a bar with 10 barstools. There is a smaller bar with 5 barstools that separate the under-21 area from the over-21 area. The food ranges from burgers to Entres. I apologize for not taking a photo of the menu, but from what I understand, it changes quite often. Today, I enjoyed dining on their S.A.R. Burger with coleslaw. The burger is Angus beef topped with fried calamari, cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato with an aioli sauce. I had a choice of fries, coleslaw, or for an extra fee, chowder. I chose to have the coleslaw. The burger was very juicy and tasty. The fried calamari gave the burger a nice, unique flavor with a hint of the ocean. I guess one could call it a surf and turf burger! Krakens Cove features 5 draft beers and one draft cider. There is also a nice selection of vodka, scotch, whiskey, tequila, and wine. (The photo of behind the bar is from one of their "soft openings" and does not have all the current selections depicted)

Really good food and nice menu. Service was excellent. Fun Place at Krakens Cove. If we ever get back to the island we will stop here again. Keep up the good work.

    New Menu

SO glad this place is back open! They have the best New England Clam Chowder on Whidbey Island. The new menus are awesome. I especially love the half crab melt sandwich/soup combo and bacon wrapped prawns Can't wait until they open for lunch more weekdays!

First time eating here. We tried once before but it was an hour wait time to get in. The ambiance is pretty cool. Just sat ourselves in the warmest place we could find. The thermostat said 63 degrees F. It was pretty cold. The waitress was really nice but seemed a little unsure of herself. I ordered a meal based on the baked potato that came with it. My wife was going to have that so I ordered some fries on the side. My meal came before the app which was a cup of chowder. The chowder was actually pretty good. We had to wait quite awhile for our food then waited some more because we didn't have any forks or spoons. I was not impressed with the entre at all. The food was cold and kinda just plain. I ordered the steak "medium" and it came well past done. The crab was REALLY cold and didn't taste very fresh. I never did get my salad and the waitress forgot to tell us they didn't have baked potato's so my wife just sat and watched me eat. All in all. Not somewhere she would want to come back. I hoping it's just growing pains and the owners can make a few adjustments. Please update your menu so it's accurate. People need silverware to eat. Maybe have a few more options JIC you run out of potato's. Good luck!!!

The space is cozy and a good vibe for a date night. We loved both of the dishes we tried, especially the scallop risotto. All the seafood was fresh and cooked really well. The miso cod had the perfect crispiness on the skin and the scallops were perfect. All the tabloids went really well together. The cocktails were not bad, but not our favorite part of the meal. Everyone was super friendly and we really appreciated that our server knew exactly when to check in and give us space. He also picked up on the fact that we wanted to share all the dishes so he brought them out one at a time. When we ordered dessert he added in a candle since he knew we were celebrating and brought out extra dessert wine and goodies too! We appreciated the attention to detail :) Definitely a must try in Whidbey!

There was…read moresome sort of festival going on downtown so I was a little afraid that it would be too busy for us to get a table, but we had about a 45 minute wait and while we waited, we just walked around to all the cute little stores. I got the Jamaican mussels with linguine added, and oh my gosh, I cannot even explain to you, the flavor, explosion and deliciousness. I was a little afraid when I saw Jamaican because I actually have a sensitivity to black pepper of all things which usually means I can't eat anything that has jerk in the name which is what my mind immediately went to. These mussels, however, were so delicately flavored, but also so intensely flavored with the mixture of Jamaican spices and coconut milk and with some fresh fruit like mango added in. It was absolutely phenomenal. My mom got the crabcakes entree which comes with a salad. Their Caesar dressing is definitely homemade. It made me close my eyes in ecstasy. Then my cousin got the garlic, shrimp prawns - I think that's what it was called. He said his dish was absolutely delicious as well. The view is right on the water and the staff were attentive and friendly. I will keep bringing friends and family who visit here over and over so I get to experience it again too!

My…read moregirlfriend's mom talks about it highly and I highly anticipated having dinner with her there. Being Friday and bring 5pm, we probably should have made reservations, but decided against it. We did get one of the last two unreserved tabes, the "reserved" tables being at the window overlooking Penn Cover. It was a beautify evening and Mt. Baker was looking glorious, as we entered a full dining room. Odd, there was no one at the bar. We sat down and the first thing I noticed was the young child behind me screaming and crying and the parents ignoring the tantrum. After about 10 minutes the child was taken outside but this wasn't how I wanted to start a nice Friday dinner. But that isn't a knock against the establishment or the service, just an observation. We ordered a round of drinks, the Stoller Family rose and a pilsner from 7 Seas Brewing, along with the calamari appetizer. Drinks came quickly and were followed a few minutes later by our calamari. This gave me time to look at the art (for sale) hanging on the wall, lots of neat wood carved pieces that lent to decor of the place. The appetizer arrived and it was a nice size order of deep fried calamari and a pink side sauce for dipping. The breading was flavorful, crispy and not too heavy, lending to the flavor of the squid. The sauce as expected kicked it up a notch with just a hint of spice. Dinner, I opted for the fish and chips, because you can never good wrong with such a simple, filling dish. The white fish was thick and flaky, coated in a simple batter that was "GBD," golden, brown, delicious! The chips were actually thin fries and not the thick cut chips I was hoping for. Overall the chips were average, but the fish was wonderful with a dash of malt vinegar on top. My girlfriend's mom got the crab cakes and a side salad. Very generous with the crab and light on unnecessary fillers. Both cakes were lightly breaded and fried, served with a simple sauce and lemon wedge. All in a nice meal with good seafood. Our server was quite attentive, especially in a crowded setting, we never felt hurried and enjoyed our time together.
