While camping at Deception State Park recently, we spent an afternoon strolling through Anacortes and landed here for a quick lunch. Don't be confused, as there's a brick & mortar version as well. The truck was parked in a small parking lot on Commercial and you could smell the BBQ as you approached. We were starving and decided to share the 3 protein platter, which ended up being a tremendous amount of food for 2 people! We slathered all the meats with sauce and dug in! The brisket and the pulled pork were perfect, but we found the ribs to be quite tough and dry. They just didn't have that 'fall off the bone' quality you want in a smoked rib. The mac & cheese was awesome, but the smoked potato was also kinda boring. It was literally just a smoked version of a baked potato with some sour cream. I'd pass on it next time. Overall, the portion size was fantastic, given the price point, and hubs and I were both stuffed after lunch. read more

I had a hankering for a bowl of old-fashion ground beef chili (no beans please) and that is just what I got with a couple of corn muffins. We drove right by it initially as it is just an old, permanently parked trailer in a big gravel driveway. Ate at one of the two picnic tables and the spouse got two really except vegetable sides cooked up fresh (a broccolini dish and a squash/pumpkin seed melange). Had a nice chat with the owner (I assume) and pit master about points and flats. Lots more on the menu to try next time (and the next after that). read more

Good portions and decent food. Sauce and/or meat needs a bit more seasoning. Would recommend getting bbq sauce on the side if you go Carolina style as the hog wash is mildly seasoned vinegar. Slaw is decent, nothing to write home about. Good staff and service. read more

We came here once back in November when staying in Anacortes, and my boyfriend & I haven't stopped thinking about it since!! When life brought us back to the area, we couldn't leave without stopping by again! Their Carolina sandwich is to die for! Everything about it is perfect. From the toasted bun, to the juicy pork, to the spicy slaw... MMMM!! Their spuds are also soooo good! Filled with meat & topped with their amazing slaw! Not your typical baked potato. Their mac & cheese is also super delicious. You can taste just a hint of pepper in every bite, which I love a lot! We wanted something that would be easy to eat in the car or at the park since there's no dining in anywhere and we don't live close by. The food was so good! My husband got the Texas Philly and I got the Salmon sandwich. The quality of the meat and the fish was great! We both got jojos as our side and I've never had jojos this good! Organic/close to it and slap yo' mamma great! While I don't condone violence, this place is, as that Southern colloquialism says "slap yo mamma good!" I don't even care for BBQ that much but the BBQ here is the best I've ever had, and I'm from Georgia! From what I understand, all of their food is organic and or close to it (local, sustainable, etc). So far, the best plate I've had there is the pulled pork, smoked potato, and honey horseradish Cole slaw plate. My only complaint is that they don't serve sweet tea to go with!! On our way to catch the Anacortes ferry to San Juan Islands, we decided that we would grab a bite to eat after a 3-hour drive. We noticed this sandwich truck, and from the abundant Food Network shows that we have watched, it looked incredibly enticing. Like fumbling tourists, we stood around until the man was ready to open up shop. We talked to him for a while, letting him know that we had never tried his sandwiches before. He was super genial and welcoming to answer all of our questions. We tried their special of the day: tacos. We also ordered the Memphis, the Gabe, the Texan. This was for 8 hungry people, and we ate everything we ordered. Sweet mother of pearl. How can I say this--the meats were perfectly smoked and super juicy. Each bite was delicious and filling, too. The toast? So much butter that it was also able to soak up the taste from the pulled cuts of meat. Also, it was toasted in a way that it still let the meat steal the show instead of having too much bread. I did not regret it and will never regret it. I wish I could conveniently stop by this place at any time and any where. I would highly recommend for anybody stopping in Anacortes. read more

I mean, yeah, the BBQ is off the charts good. But come here for the burger. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! The brioche bun, incredibly tasty meat, sweet pickle, diced onions and your choice of cheese (I like Jarlsberg) makes for one if the best hamburgers I've EVER had in my 43 years. I might mix it up from time to time with the Cuban sandwhich or the Philly cheese steak... But that burger has my heart. My heart and my expanding waist line. Whoops! I was in Anacortes a few years ago and never got around to trying this place. Back again, I looked for it a few times as I traveled up and down Commercial. Couldn't find it. Finally called. Yeah, we're here. My problem was I was looking for it in a different corner lot than I remembered. They moved, or my memory failed me again. Sign on the window says No mask, No service, so come prepared. Debated between the tacos and the Dad's burger, which has most of the same stuff, plus the burger. Went with the burger and a side of mac n cheese. Ran it back to where I'm staying, about 5 minutes. Long enough to have the bottom bun pretty soaked, so next time I might eat it in the car. Pulled pork was great. Burger patty was good, overcooked for my liking. The slaw I expected a better kick from, but very fresh. Mac n cheese was a generous portion, very rich and nicely cooked. All in all, very satisfying. $15 for the burger, another $3 for the mac n cheese. Service was fine. Forgot to pack my mac n cheese, so check your order. read more

Whenever I come up to Anacortes to see my family I make a point to grab some BBQ here. I love their brisket, it's tender and flavourful, and the beans are super tasty. It's always ready really quick, and if it's raining they'll just run your order out to your car. It's also really convenient to grab meat by the pound if you're have several people to feed. It can add up but I think it's worth it. I just wish it was open every day. I'm celiac and have never gotten sick eating the meat, beans or veggies sides here. I think all their sauces are gluten free but I never use them because I like the smoked meat taste without it. But they seem to know what is gf or not which is great. read more
