I was welcomed by a friendly staff without a reservation mid week; I was told the bar was full but I could be seated at a table. The tables are set with cloth tablecloths, salad fork, fork, knife, butter knife, a water glass, and cloth napkin. The colors are soft green with warmly lit sconces. I ate the goat cheese salad which had a very light vinaigrette and thinly sliced julienne apples. The salad was a 5/5! The salad was accompanied by a piece of sour dough bread and red pepper hummus! Yummy! I am a connoisseur of crab cakes of which I highly recommend a new recipe. There were 3 nicely seared crab cakes on a bed of slaw and a side of wasabi sauce. The crab cakes were some of the worst I have ever tasted. They were overly breaded inside and it tasted like they used the sourdough bread. The sour flavor took from the crab. I would have had two crab cakes with way less filling. I had a nice Cabernet paired with my dinner. The salad and ambiance gave it a 4; otherwise it would be a 2.

Simpli breathtaking. Ambiance was warm and inviting. Sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen. The chef greated me warmly and made sure I liked each course. Clam chowder was easily the best I ever had. The special was risotto with scallops, lobster tail, muscles, and shrimp. It was Devine. Super fresh seafood, perfectly cooked and balanced. Decent cocktails and service was great. Highly recommend. Easily the best meal I had on the island. Definitely book a reservation ahead.

One of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. We started out with drinks from the bar and were not disappointed. The sourdough with red pepper hummus was deliciously unique. Next, we had the young greens salad (with mussels added on) and the Caesar salad to start. The pears in the young greens salad with the mussels made it fabulous. My dining partner had the crab & shrimp lasagna - he practically licked the plate at the end. I had the long-bone short ribs and couldn't have enjoyed it more. We took home a good part of the large portion and had the next day. We finished with coffee; dining partner had the vanilla cheesecake (sooo good per my friend) and I had the almond cake with anise ice cream. Moist, flavorful and maybe a bit overdone on the outside; the bake time was likely needed as the height of the cake is tall. We plan to return in the spring on our next overnight trip so that we can enjoy more of the menu selections. Chef Fraser stopped by table to thank us for coming in and to make sure we were pleased. We were! Elegant sublime atmosphere- white linen tablecloths, wall scones, nice lighting. Great vibe.

We came in one night without a reservation. The host was super friendly and seated us right away. Most of the tables were occupied but the noise was super low and still intimate enough for a date night. The food was AMAZING as always and really not as expensive as you might think. Well worth it. Cheers.

Fabulous service, wonderful food, and an enjoyable environment. This was an unexpected treat. We started with cocktails and shared 2 apps. The brie and garlic fondue was luscious and perfect for the four of us to share. The dry ribs came with 4 pieces and they were very tender and we loved the little sauce (blackberry?). I had the duck pappardelle and loved the crumbled crispy skin garnish. I would have liked a little more :-). My other had the fried chicken and corn spoon bread and I couldn't keep my fork out of his plate. Also at our table was the crab and shrimp lasagna. It was beautiful and delicious. But very rich. Could have used something on the plate to give your pallet a rest. Lastly was the lovely rack of lamb with pistachio crust. We shared the profitero dessert and literally scraped the plate. We did not expect such a fantastic meal experience on Whidbey Island!

Don't waste your time with any other place in town. Fraser's is memorable. Service is 5 stars food is 5. I'm waiting on desert but I'm not worried about that.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write this review! My boyfriend and I were RV'ing in the Oak Harbor area a few months ago and in the mood for a nice dinner. I had no idea such an amazing place existed in the area! We called for a reservation on what was a busy Saturday night, and were lucky to get a table at a reasonable hour. When we were arrived, we were greeted immediately and got a nice seat by the window, with a view of their open kitchen. I had looked up the restaurant on Yelp in advance (of course!) and recognized their owner working behind the counter along with the rest of his amazing team. We ordered a couple of cocktails, and started with an order of crab cakes to share. They were the perfect appetizer, served with a luscious-yet-mild wasabi-based sauce. Next, the dude got a ribeye, served perfectly and with seared asparagus, and I ordered the seared scallops with a homemade risotto. Since it happened to be St. Patrick's Day weekend, they had a sticky toffee pudding on special and - even though we were stuffed - we ordered it to share for dessert. It was sweet, decadent, and so delicious I kinda wish we'd ordered two (even though I probably would have exploded). What brought this amazing meal over the top was the amazing and friendly service we received. I've never thought of Oak Harbor as being a fine dining destination, but I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive here again for a special occasion (or if we're camping nearby again and don't feel like cooking).

Absolute perfection! If I knew how good this was going to be I would have ordered 3 of these and made that my meal. Delicious!

I was not expecting such a wonderful meal on the island (I was visiting from out of town) and was BEYOND surprised and impressed by the food, the ambiance, the wine and the staff, incredible experience. I have since gone to the store to try to recreate the salad I had here which was PHENOMENAL! Top 3 salad I've had in my life. Wonderful experience all around

Yum!!!!! By far and away this was the best place we dined at on Whidbey all week. Nothing else even came close. Totally worth the 45 minute drive from south Whidbey! The dining area is quit spread out, so you are not smushed up next to other diners. The service is stellar and the restrooms are lovely. Prices are high but reasonable given the service and food quality. We started with the Caesar salad. I got mine plain. Hubby got his with smoked mussels. The salads were so fresh and tasty and the mussels were delightful. Portions were quite generous. For our entrees hubby ordered red snapper and I went with the divine rack of lamb after a week of eating cloyingly sweet entrees at other establishments at, the savory chops were a breath of delectable fresh air. The sauce was so tasty and the lamb was perfectly prepared. The snapper was delicate and delicious. Definitely get a reservation here! You won't be disappointed.

Wow. In Oak Harbor. I am still shocked. We sat at the bar and got to converse with the chef. Food was excellent and had great flavor. I tend to avoid high end food because I find it translates into presentation and lacks flavor. Not here! I can't wait to come back!

The miso cod had the perfect crispiness on the skin and the scallops were perfect. All the tabloids went really well together. The cocktails were not bad, but not our favorite part of the meal. Everyone was super friendly and we really appreciated that our server knew exactly when to check in and give us space. When we ordered dessert he added in a candle since he knew we were celebrating and brought out extra dessert wine and goodies too! There was…read moresome sort of festival going on downtown so I was a little afraid that it would be too busy for us to get a table, but we had about a 45 minute wait and while we waited, we just walked around to all the cute little stores. I got the Jamaican mussels with linguine added, and oh my gosh, I cannot even explain to you, the flavor, explosion and deliciousness. I was a little afraid when I saw Jamaican because I actually have a sensitivity to black pepper of all things which usually means I can't eat anything that has jerk in the name which is what my mind immediately went to. These mussels, however, were so delicately flavored, but also so intensely flavored with the mixture of Jamaican spices and coconut milk and with some fresh fruit like mango added in. It was absolutely phenomenal. My mom got the crabcakes entree which comes with a salad. Their Caesar dressing is definitely homemade. It made me close my eyes in ecstasy. Then my cousin got the garlic, shrimp prawns - I think that's what it was called. He said his dish was absolutely delicious as well. The view is right on the water and the staff were attentive and friendly. I will keep bringing friends and family who visit here over and over so I get to experience it again too!

My…read moregirlfriend's mom talks about it highly and I highly anticipated having dinner with her there. Being Friday and bring 5pm, we probably should have made reservations, but decided against it. We did get one of the last two unreserved tabes, the "reserved" tables being at the window overlooking Penn Cover. It was a beautify evening and Mt. Baker was looking glorious, as we entered a full dining room. Odd, there was no one at the bar. We sat down and the first thing I noticed was the young child behind me screaming and crying and the parents ignoring the tantrum. After about 10 minutes the child was taken outside but this wasn't how I wanted to start a nice Friday dinner. But that isn't a knock against the establishment or the service, just an observation. We ordered a round of drinks, the Stoller Family rose and a pilsner from 7 Seas Brewing, along with the calamari appetizer. Drinks came quickly and were followed a few minutes later by our calamari. This gave me time to look at the art (for sale) hanging on the wall, lots of neat wood carved pieces that lent to decor of the place. The appetizer arrived and it was a nice size order of deep fried calamari and a pink side sauce for dipping. The breading was flavorful, crispy and not too heavy, lending to the flavor of the squid. The sauce as expected kicked it up a notch with just a hint of spice. Dinner, I opted for the fish and chips, because you can never good wrong with such a simple, filling dish. The white fish was thick and flaky, coated in a simple batter that was "GBD," golden, brown, delicious! The chips were actually thin fries and not the thick cut chips I was hoping for. Overall the chips were average, but the fish was wonderful with a dash of malt vinegar on top. My girlfriend's mom got the crab cakes and a side salad. Very generous with the crab and light on unnecessary fillers. Both cakes were lightly breaded and fried, served with a simple sauce and lemon wedge. All in a nice meal with good seafood. Our server was quite attentive, especially in a crowded setting, we never felt hurried and enjoyed our time together.
