CRACK CRAB DIP!!!!!! Get 2!!!
Ashley S.

Of course, 5 stars! Duh! What more do you need? Gorgeous views? AMAZING STAFF? The best CRAB DIP OF YOUR LIFE?!?!? Next time we go, the bestie and I will each get our own LOL My bestie and I shared a bottle of wine and the crab dip. Then she wanted the scallops with the blue cheese dressing () but that only came with the surf & turf. They said "no problem! We can make that happen for you" And that said that for every request we made (I'm gluten free). Just the most precious restaurant with amazing food!

Front St Grill is a lovely seafood place right on the waterline of Penn Cove in Coupeville. It specializes in various mussel dishes sourced from the local area. Their cioppino was rich and flavorful with a wide variety of seafood including mussels, clams, squid, baby octopus, and shrimp, all in a tomatoey broth. Their seafood pasta has a Thai flair, mixed with similar seafood as the cioppino. Labeled as spicy but it's really not too spicy for those familiar with Thai flavors.

Before visiting her for lunch I read the reviews and was quite skeptical but after my wonderful experience I am excited to go back. I was able to snag the last table overlooking the water since I arrived early and it was a gorgeous view. Our server Tina was so sweet and attentive and truly made the experience just that much better. I ordered the Cesar salad with a crab cake and it was divine! The flavor and texture of the crab cake was absolutely perfect, and as a crab cake connoisseur, I was very pleased. I am looking forward to getting the crab cake entree or appetizer so I can eat 2 of them! The fries were also very tasty and the lavender lemonade was delicious! Perfect amount of sour and sweet. Next time I will be saving room for dessert and perhaps a meal to go for leftovers.

First dinner on Whibdey Island - ordered the Jamaican mussels and seafood pasta. Food was tasty. Decent pour on the Malbec but the beer was a little pricey - over $10. Friendly staff and average noise level.

Jamaican Spice Mussels

We always stop by here for mussels in Whidbey and they were delicious as usual. We got the Jamaican spice mussels with linguini which were a light curry flavor. The mussels are nicely cooked and the portion is large. The reason for the 3 star review is because they have a 15% auto gratuity on their online ordering portal (for take out) that can't be removed or changed. I like ordering takeout for this restaurant, so we can have our food by the time we get to Coupeville, and we take it to eat on the tables by the pier. In addition, I order takeout on online web portals all the time, and have never seen an auto gratuity added especially not for just one dish. Still enjoyed the food and I don't mind tipping on takeout, but I think it's crazy to have it set as an unremovable auto gratuity.

Popped in for dinner since I'm in town for a marathon. We had reservations elsewhere but this menu was so appealing. Happy we came since it was quite busy and progressively got busier. We ordered crab cakes to start and they were a bit tart and salty but the salad was nice and their inhouse dressing today was super tasty, I got the halibut burger with fries and the it was very good. The bun was slightly sweet, had a good toast on it and it was t oily to the touch. The fish was a little dry and the piece was small (it left about half of the bun empty), veggies were fresh and fries were amazing- that super crispy but soft and seasoned to perfection. Partner got the white wine mussels with linguine and it was very good too- tons of fresh mussels, just needed a bit of salt. We opted for the mixed berry crumble even though we were stuffed and it was sooooo good, warm without being hot and the ice cream kept its structural integrity. Service was attentive and friendly. Views of the water were nice.

While I was on vacation in Whidbey Island, I visited Coupeville. These are a must try when visiting Front Street Grill-they were the best mussels I've ever had. The mussels were locally caught in Penn Cove and you could tell they were fresh the moment you ate the first one. I loved the flavor, and the spices/vegetables/coconut milk they used for the Jamaican curry went very well with the fresh mussels-i would highly recommend this dish (and I can see why this dish won awards). I'm usually not a mussels fan, I prefer clams, but I'd definitely order this dish again. I also enjoyed the fish and chips- it had a crispy and flavorful batter and the fish tasted fresh as well

We had a great visit here! They were able to accommodate 6 of us at a large table and we all enjoyed the view. We shared several orders of mussels and enjoyed watching the boats go by. I also ordered gnocchi. Very good and a generous portion. The service was informative and friendly as we enjoyed our mussels.

While walking around in Coupeville, I decided to give the Front Street Grill a try. I noticed from their menu that they offer quite a few Mussels options. Normally I would have jumped all over that as I love Penn Cove Mussels! But, just had some recently and was in the mood for something else. So, I decided to try their Reuben sandwich. They call it a "Basket Reuben Sandwich". I was very impressed with it! The corned beef was very tender. The phrase "fall apart in your mouth" comes to mind! Also, the sauerkraut was very subtle and did not overpower the corned beef. Front street grill has a nice full bar with a good selection of drinks available. The staff was polite and professional, helping with seating and delivering the food orders.

Wild salmon w/ sub sweet potato fries

Came here while visiting the area with some friends. We didn't have to wait too long and once we sat down the service was great. My bf and I shared the crab cakes with Caesar salad and as a group we shared the white wine mussels. Both dishes were great we enjoyed them. As my meal I ordered the wild salmon and substituted my sides for sweet potato fries. The fries were great but the salmon was just okay. It seemed a bit undercooked. Overall we had a good experience here and enjoyed the food.

If you want delicious, fresh Penn Cove mussels, Front Street Grill in Coupeville is the place to go. They have about 7-8 different preparations - we had the Jamaica Spice mussels with coconut rum and coconut milk, and the Whidbey Mussels with a broth made with port, blackberry liqueur and red wine. Both were great!

Jamaican spice mussels, whidbey mussels

The mussels are fresh and delicious!! They're very tender and the sauce is super flavorful. We got the jamaican spice mussels which was the best one in my opinion. It tasted like curry and the mango bits were refreshing. The sauce paired with mussels and bread was amazing! For the whidbey mussels, the mussels itself were of the same quality - super soft and tender. However, i wasn't a fan of the pretty strong wine taste, but i imagine it'd be right up the alley for those who enjoy the taste of wine! The non alcoholic raspberry mint drink was also pretty good. We also got a nice view of the water and the wharf. This place is overall a really nice to stop by during a trip to Whidbey Island

Love the mussels here. My go-to favorite is the Whidbey mussels in red wine, however I tried the award winning Jamaican mussels this go around. Loved the melody of flavors; not too spicy, not too sweet. Steak was perfectly cooked, and the butter smashed potatoes were amazing. The burgers, sandwiches, and chowder are also local favorites here. Lots of GF options on the menu and the staff is very knowledgeable and safe regarding food allergies/celiac. Ambiance was not loud at all and boasts spectacular views of Mt Baker behind Penn Cove. Usually a wait for a table at peak hours so put your name on the list and relax outside on Front Street. Highly recommend.

The miso cod had the perfect crispiness on the skin and the scallops were perfect. All the tabloids went really well together. The cocktails were not bad, but not our favorite part of the meal. Everyone was super friendly and we really appreciated that our server knew exactly when to check in and give us space. He also picked up on the fact that we wanted to share all the dishes so he brought them out one at a time. When we ordered dessert he added in a candle since he knew we were celebrating and brought out extra dessert wine and goodies too! The fish was good, but it could've used more of the sauce that was served underneath it to balance out all of the panko breading. For dessert, I got the carrot cake and my partner got the salted caramel shortbread. Both were good, but the carrot cake needed a little something to make it exceptional. 5 Stars (for Mark) I…read morefound Rare Society on TikTok and made the drive up from Bellevue with my girlfriend, curious to see if this place lived up to its upscale steakhouse reputation. The short answer ..it's complicated but one person made all the difference. When we got there about 30 minutes early, we were told we could sit in the lounge and still receive full service, which was a nice touch. That said, there was no one at the front to greet us for a minute or two upon arrival. Small thing, but when a restaurant markets itself as a high-end experience, that first moment matters. We got seated quickly and then came Mark. He wasn't dressed like a server, so I honestly wasn't sure who he was at first, but his level of attentiveness made it immediately clear this was someone who genuinely cares about the guest experience. He explained that he was supporting our actual waiter, who was also covering bartending duties that evening. Whether that's a staffing concern or just how the night unfolded, I'll leave that to management to reflect on. What I won't leave unacknowledged is this..Mark was extraordinary! He knew the menu inside and out, kept our water filled, checked on us consistently, and made us feel genuinely welcomed, not just served. He even took the time to ask for our names. He spoke highly of our waiter throughout the entire evening, which says a lot about his character. My girlfriend and I were both floored. I'd take someone in a hoodie with Mark's warmth and knowledge over a perfectly dressed server going through the motions any day. The entire experience was held up by Mark. The entire time all the way to the end. It seems like Mark was required to relay all orders to our server. Ultimately our actual server simply delivered only the desert and checked if it was good. When my water glass was empty during dessert, it went unnoticed by him. Mark caught it. Of course he did. This isn't about entitlement. This is about living up to the competition and high end standard Food was Fantastic. Compliments to the chef The Surcharge, Worth Mentioning The receipt included a 4% surcharge described as covering competitive industry compensation, including health benefits for valued full-time employees. I respect transparency around labor costs. But here's the question worth sitting with: if this charge genuinely covers employee health benefits, why is it removable on request? A real operational cost doesn't disappear because a guest felt uncomfortable asking. It starts to feel less like a principled stance and more like a pricing strategy dressed in goodwill language. Five stars and they belong entirely to Mark. He is the standard this restaurant should be measuring itself against. Rare Society, if you're reading this..promote him, learn from him, and make sure he knows how much he elevated what could have been a forgettable evening into something genuinely memorable. Everything about this place is trying to be rare. Mark already is

Service was attentive and friendly as usual. We were quickly seated for our reservations. The tartare and mussels are our go-tos for appetizers. The tartare may be a challenge for some folks but the freshness of the meat with the richness of the egg yolk, on toasted bread, is beyond delightful. I might just have that as my main entree one day! The mussels were perfect and the broth it was boiled in was so tasty we had to bring the remainder home with us! My bride had the hanger steak (rare) which came out gorgeously seared and juicy on the inside. The shoestring fries are addictive! I could not resist having my lamb burger (med-rare). We enjoy Langley and the lights and shops were great to visit. We showed up just before our 5 PM reservation and the hostess was standing at her computer. My wife asked about sitting on the heated outdoor area because it smelled odd in the dining room. She said it was full (it wasn't) but then still looking at her screen said if we could wait a bit they can make a table available. We gladly waited for a few minutes. There were three to four open tables both inside and outside and she sat us at a two top in the corner next to the door. My wife asked if we could get out of the corner but no go. Then she asked if we could just fit inside then? Now the hostess didn't want to accommodate that and when asked what happened to the table inside she intended to give us originally the hostess, in a rather snotty tone, said to my wife "you only made your reservation today!". That isn't the way to address my wife! She told her that we would just go somewhere else. Crickets from this hostess....no effort to please us so gone we were! We haven't been here for a year since the food was not that great last time and cannot compare at all to other better French restaurants on the east coast and our trips to France. We just thought we'd they it again for a nice holiday weekend meal. We went right across the street to a truly packed Village pizzeria, they kindly fit us in at a great bar seating and we got to watch the LA bowl and Huskies and enjoy our usual Village Pizza, caesar, and a couple of rounds of drinks. Excellent and friendly service! We won't be returning now recommending Prima Bistro again. We often tell guests and friends that it's likely a better choice than Saltwater next door. We are getting tired of the "finer" dining on Whidbey that is often overpriced, unreliable, and un accommodating compared to similar dining elsewhere. This was a good example. And at 7 PB appeared almost empty from our view from the street!
