This was our second time dining at Orchard kitchen on Whidbey Island. The first time we dined was about two years ago and we came for our 20th wedding anniversary. I am basing this review on this past weekend, where we were returned for our 22nd wedding anniversary. First off the price went from $112 a person, to $165 a person, that's a huge increase. The wine flight is now $95 a person, and two years ago it was $75 a person. This past weekend we were sat at an anniversary table with other couples , felt a little like sitting at the kids table. We sat outside, which was beautiful. Service was fantastic and on point. I am super disappointed with the amount of food you were served in the amount of wine that you were getting with the flight. You were paying $95 for literally 12 ounces of wine- and I promise you it is carefully measured. They are not generous pours. My husband, a big guy, 6'5, was starving when we left. We were lucky enough to find a local pub open for him to get a decent sized meal. Each course you were getting about 2 to 3 bites. I am really unsure how the price of this is justified with what you receive. The food was absolutely phenomenal . Every course that you were served, it truly is a great tasting experience. My husband and I are big foodies and we extensively travel and try many multiple course meals. The 2 to 3 bites per dish is not adequate. You will leave hungry. We did not mention this to the chef's wife as we left as she said goodbye to us as we walked out, because how do you say that you're still hungry when you leave an experience like that? Our bill was close to $500 when we left. We then went and spent an additional $40 at the local pub for some food to fill us up . This unfortunately will be our last time dining at the Orchard kitchen. We were going to make this an annual experience since we return to the island every year. If the intent is that you're paying for the experience , then perhaps others will really enjoy this, but we were also hoping to get a good meal for the price we paid.

Hands down one of the best experiences in my life. From the food to the service to the ambience, everything 100+% Amazing. Took pictures of all our food besides the Albacore I totally forgot a picture of it. If I can give it 10 Stars I would.

Beautiful environment outdoors on a summer evening at the Orchard Kitchen.

We could not have asked for a better evening - great friends, beautiful PNW summer weather, dinner on the farm under the stars, and to top it off, a 5 star dinner from Chef Vincent and his team. We felt lucky to get in - off the wait list - and so thankful (dinner for 4 on 7/22/23). There is one seating each evening and the service was flawless while serving 40+ people at the same time. It is an intimate environment, easy to hold a conversation and you are surrounded by the farm. You will sit family style and most likely share a table unless you have a large enough group to fill the table. We shared a table with several friendly women gathering for their law school reunion. The food was beautiful, approachable and delicious. I find some pre-fix dinners to be a bit austere and over the top. The Orchard Kitchen has a found a nice balance of being special and delightful. The food was served at a nice pace - allowing you to enjoy the presentation, the flavors, and the discussion that follows each wave of culinary experience. We had several bites to start, three wave of food, a cheese plate and dessert. Wine can be purchased by the glass, bottle or the flight. They were also able to accommodate my shellfish allergy. All the food was delicious and I highly recommend the Orchard Kitchen. We will be back again! Thanks Chef Vincent and Wine Maven Tyla Nattress

When was the last time you sat down for an evening meal at a restaurant and said this one word after your meal? Wow! "Wow" was the reaction of a group of travel writers at a special extravaganza I was fortunate to attend in the Whidbey and Camano Islands back in 2018. Culinary Tourism is an important initiative in Island County, Washington, and indeed, in the entire Camano and Whidbey Island area of Northwest Washington. The farm-to-table industry is strong in this region and entrepreneurs in the region want you to know it. Chef Vincent Nattress at the Orchard Kitchen in Langley, Washington maintains close ties to local growers to ensure fresh and best-in-class ingredients are served to you as he prepares his homespun specialty dishes. Vincent will tell you he's a farmer as well as a chef. He bought the property on which the Orchard Kitchen now sits back in 2011. Much of the land was a pasture for 90-years with a rich loam suitable for growth. Many of the dishes he serves feature Radishes, Arugula, Garlic, Corn, Fava Beans, Peas, and other veggies straight from the gardens of his farm. As Vincent tells it, it's the crops from land that spur much of his inspiration for his farm-to-table homespun creations. The pictures and the captions below say it all. This place is a unique, one-of-a-kind, specialty eatery in the Whidbey-Camano Islands region. If you haven't been to the Whidbey-Camano Islands area, you're in for a treat. It is iconic and refreshing. And now you know of a 5-star place to eat: The Orchard Kitchen. Go and enjoy!

Best place to sit at is the chefs counter where you get to watch the chefs at work. They had a local beet and carrot salad with grilled squash, lamb stew with their own bread and a dessert that tasted like a Dutch baby. I also got the cheese flight which was superb. It is best to go in a Thur when it is locals night so you get to try a three course menu than a 6-7 course. I also got the wine pairing and they were generous with the pours. It is a bit cold in there so bring your jacket.

Where to begin...we booked the chefs table on a Saturday evening and were greeted with a specialty cocktail that was amazing. We were seated at a table in a beautiful garden with a small group of other diners. The chef came out and explained the menu in great detail, and then service started. The food was fresh, creative, beautifully plated, and delicious. The service was impeccable. I'd recommend the wine flight as each glass was perfectly paired with the course being served. I highly recommend Orchard Kitchen and would make a special trip to Whidbey Island just to eat there!

I've eaten at a variety of farm to table restaurants over the years and they have all done things slightly differently. Some have been horrible and others I would commute half-way across the world to revisit. This is one of the latter options. We were lucky to score a seating for their wine and dinner offering on a Friday at 6:00 pm. The meal took around 2-3 hours to complete and was easily top 5 meals I have eaten in the states. The location is small and there are not many spots, so advance reservations (potentially months in advance) are required. Each menu is prepared specifically for that day. Our menu involved multiple courses, paired with a different wine each time. The wines were hand picked and matched perfectly. As someone that is not normally a huge fan of red wines, the wine selected here was excellent and I enjoyed myself. The food was fresh, well prepared, and not too salty. The chef did give a small speech as food was being delivered on what you were eating and where it was from, but it wasn't overly long. It was polite, sufficient, and just enough to let you learn and enjoy your meal. The location was easy to find, parking was sufficient, service was amazing, they offered espresso at end of meal, etc. All the bells and whistles were there and it was well worth the price. We don't get to Whidbey often but for any future visit, we will make a point of returning.

Went here for a group event. The service was excellent. Our waiters were so fun. The food was delicious and they even added two extra courses for us.

The more detailed vers: I found this place on Yelp, but had never visited before. I was SO excited by the glowing recommendations, so my bf and I decided to choose it to make my 40th bday dinner special. - First clue something was off was the place was dead. We were the SOLE patrons there on a Sunday night! - My mandarin basil mocktail was quite literally a glass of grapefruit juice with a single basil leaf on top. - We ordered crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer; not only were they not crispy but they were near raw? Tough, undercooked brussel sprouts lol what - My main was paella, it was...fine...not terrible but they were super stingy with the seafood, there were only 2 meager chunks of chicken, 3 tiny scallops and like 3 shrimp in the entire dish. Keep in mind these plates were fine dining prices; the ingredients here likely cost dollars, at best - Bf's steak was overcooked It was bad enough where I politely said something to the waitress which I NEVER do and she apologized and said their lead chef called in sick so all they had was a chef in training. Anyway that was all fine, we laughed it off at the time aa bad luck. But yesterday my bf's stomach was upset the whole day, and that my friends was the final straw to push me to write this review. To the restaurant owners: it's one thing to have a mediocre dinner, who cares; but we paid high prices to be served crummy food, have a special night be disappointing and then to get sick afterward? That's not alright. I will say, the service was great and the staff very polite so it pains me to write this but it felt necessary.

The bread was perfectly baked, delicately salted, and the balsamic was so good you'd be tempted to drink it. My husband ordered a Dark and Stormy, but the first one tasted like it was made with vodka instead of rum. Our server was kind and professional about it, and the replacement cocktail was much better. I had the Basil Martini, which was fantastic, herbaceous, refreshing, and easy to sip. For dinner, I ordered the Duck Confit, my favorite dish on the menu. It was beautifully presented, tender, and full of flavor. My husband had the Pan-Seared Scallops with polenta cakes and lobster-truffle beurre blanc, and he said they were delicious. The atmosphere added to the experience. I liked the artwork, and the music hit all the right notes. We were greeted and seated right away, and the service stayed attentive throughout the evening. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality and presentation make it worth it. This is my favorite restaurant in Federal Way and always feels special every time we visit.

Food was actually extremely well thought out and executed. Platings come in 2 sizes with simple choices of fillings/sauces, and the portion sizes were excellent- 1lb for me (a bigger guy) and 1/2 for the lady and we both were comfortably full after eating! Dessert deserves its own section in this review because holy mole: it was truly impeccable. I've had quite a few desserts in my time but these really "took the cake". Honey cake was beautiful and soft, it had a gentle sweetness and almost had a spiced undertone to it. Very light and very well executed, it sat perfectly with the dumplings. But the CRÈME BRÛLÉE :') I truly could weep over how beautiful this dish was, it was like I found the love of my life all over again. Gently centered on a plate half dusted with powdered sugar, topped with a small fresh strawberry and sprig of mint. Truly mind boggling how good it was, an incredible mix of sweet crème and gentle taste of black tea. I never expected this to be such a great combination but it was incredibly well executed. Whomever the mastermind was behind the creation of the menu and shop: I tip my hat to you, for this was a truly wonderful experience. Everything was obviously very thoughtfully planned out and perfected, I have mad respect for their work. 2 plates of dumplings, 2 drinks and 2 desserts was under 80$.
