What a gem. Our party of 5 made last minute reservations and they were VERY accommodating. Top notch service which was consistent through the meal and with our 2 kids in tow. The food here was outstanding. Honestly, my expectations were low, but that's 100% on me and it was wonderful to be surprised. We ordered quite a spread for our size, some of the dishes are captured in the posted photos. If I had to pick, my favorite that day was: HOLSTEIN SCHNITZEL breaded pork tenderloin, spätzle, broccolini, almonds, capers, lemon fillets, two sunny side up eggs, marinated white anchovies, parsley

Definitely a romantic spot just a short highway drive away from Victoria, but I came for my bachelorette brunch with the girls! We were kindly seated right by a window overlooking the beautiful lake below after having made a reservation. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the views spectacular. You feel spoiled eating here. I swapped out the meat in my parma style eggs benedict as the prosciutto cotto was not the prosciutto I thought it would be with no issue - so got delicious crispy bacon. The plates were bright and healthy, and I would eagerly come back for a dinner and a stay in their beautiful resort.

While the views at this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking, the service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. We ordered pasta and scallops, but waited almost two hours for the food to come to our table. No explanation, no apology, and while the food was decent, it wasn't anything to write home about. There were also hornets buzzing around the outside table, which created a tense atmosphere to say the least. I left feeling very disappointed. If you're interested in the view, I would recommend just coming for drinks. Against my better judgment, and because my partner is a serial optimist, we came back for breakfast before checking out of the hotel. I tried to clear my mind of the prior experience and do my best to just enjoy the morning. While my iced coffee arrived quickly, it would be more appropriate to call it coffee-flavored water. The nail in the coffin, which I just had to take a picture of because of how much it surprised me, was the bugs and mold on the fruit. Unbelievable. Would give zero stars if I could.

We sat right next the window where we could see the water in the valley. The view was breathtaking and I could not stop looking outside while I was eating there. We ordered seared scallops and braised short rib for dinner. We enjoyed both of them, but what really stood out was bread! It looked a bit burnt outside, but the slight burnt gave deep flavor and both my husband and I loved it so much :) I cannot wait to go back there for another anniversary and try other food. Seafood pasta looked (smelled) really good!

You may know this restaurant by the name Summit. It is located inside of the Eyrie resort. The restaurant name was changed to Alpina, two months ago. The new chef is from Germany. From the moment we entered the resort every person we encountered was cheerful and inviting. There are so many vantage points where you look down across the valley to Washington state. When we were seated at our table it truly was breathtaking. We immediately had to take a selfie with the background and had two different people on the wait staff rush to take our photographs. In fact we saw a lot of this going on with numerous tables. There's a sense of privacy because of the way the restaurant has been laid out and they spread people throughout the restaurant so you really don't feel like there's a lot of people there when there actually is. This restaurant is a best kept secret. The bread plate was irresistible. One of the breads had a lemon flavor to it with the most intense yellow color, it was amazing. Couldn't stop eating the breadsticks either. Mind you, I normally don't eat any bread. The herb butter didn't hurt either. The tuna appetizer with the incredible intense lemon sauce certainly prepared my palate for what was to follow. The Spring Pea Cream Soup with crab ravioli, peas, pea shoots, and salmon roe popping in your mouth was a refreshing surprise. We also enjoyed the 4 hour slow braised short ribs atop creamy Parmesan polenta. Try the honey-crusted duck breast with wilted Swiss chard, rhubarb, schupfnudeln, rhubarb gel and aged balsamic jus. I'm not even going to tell you about the desert menu OMG!! I'll be back soon, you should check it out before everyone else finds out about this new chef.

the absolute best brunch in Victoria, BC. I always forget to take pictures of the breakfast because I'm always to excited to eat (really bad food blogger here). The view is stunning and the food is so fresh. Lemon Ricotta pancakes are always the choice to beat... Drinks are as good as the food.

I reserved here for just a fun brunch and ordered the crepe. When I had the first bite, it was so great and I enjoyed everything. The view of the mountains was foggy but of course, the view of the inlet and mountains are always beautiful. The price was also good for 3. A great restaurant to come for tasty food.

Alpina offered very tasty meals for breakfast and dinner. My favourite has to be tuna tartare. This dish took me and my wife to flavour town, I should have order another. Service went very well and I will return again sometime soon.

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, and Anita in particular was awesome. We asked for recommendations and Anita recommended the Seafood Chowder to start which was to die for!!! Best one my Gf and I have ever had anywhere.. For the main dishes we had the Rack of Lamb, and the Beef Bourguignon and both very delicious and very tender. The owner Roxanne and Stephan came by and mingled with everyone and I have to say are incredible hosts and have done an amazing job with the place and the staff. Did I mention they have a 3-Michelin Star Chef?!! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to any and everyone to stay, relax, enjoy great dining and unwind. Michael and Teresa:)

They have a pretty much perfect interior design and furnishing: very chill and simple but also very charming decor. Menu is very straightforward and simple and has pretty good pricing especially for a Bellingham spot. Service was great and not overstimulating like many places. Food was actually extremely well thought out and executed. Platings come in 2 sizes with simple choices of fillings/sauces, and the portion sizes were excellent- 1lb for me (a bigger guy) and 1/2 for the lady and we both were comfortably full after eating! Dessert deserves its own section in this review because holy mole: it was truly impeccable. I've had quite a few desserts in my time but these really "took the cake". Honey cake was beautiful and soft, it had a gentle sweetness and almost had a spiced undertone to it. Very light and very well executed, it sat perfectly with the dumplings. But the CRÈME BRÛLÉE :') I truly could weep over how beautiful this dish was, it was like I found the love of my life all over again. Gently centered on a plate half dusted with powdered sugar, topped with a small fresh strawberry and sprig of mint. Truly mind boggling how good it was, an incredible mix of sweet crème and gentle taste of black tea. I never expected this to be such a great combination but it was incredibly well executed. Whomever the mastermind was behind the creation of the menu and shop: I tip my hat to you, for this was a truly wonderful experience. Everything was obviously very thoughtfully planned out and perfected, I have mad respect for their work. 2 plates of dumplings, 2 drinks and 2 desserts was under 80$. An all time favorite date night spot at a much more reasonable price than other places near Barkley/Bellingham. 11/10 If I could give more than 5 stars I would

I was the only one there. I always wonder when I go to any food establishments that are this slow. Either their food is not that good or they have bad service or overpriced. I ordered a whole LB and my girls got drinks from the cooler fridge. I guess I should have paid more attention, but the lady charged me for 2 orders. Only realized that after I sat down and was wondering why my bill was like $90. When I went to the counter, the assistant pretty much placed the blame on me... " sorry for the misunderstanding " But the thing is there was no misunderstanding, I was pretty clear on what I ordered, either she wasn't listening or paying attention... She did offer me a refund, but at the time the food was already at the table. I chose to just take the "extra" surprise order to go. Dumplings were mediocre at best. I have had my share of Russian dumplings all the way from Moscow to New York to Chicago and this was hands down was the loser of all. Sauces were not bad but not enough for me to come back or to recommend this place to anyone. I would go to Pelmeni downtown instead next time.

The six of us were out on the town celebrating a birthday, and French Cuisine was on the birthday girl's mind. We made it to Joie Grillades and were welcomed in by the owner, Chef Laurant, into his elegant and petite restaurant. As Laurant laid out his specials for the evening, it was evident that he wanted to make our dining experience special. He put the menus away, checked in on allergies, and told us he would bring out several dishes for us to share. Waves of delicacies emerged from the kitchen, many ingredients sourced locally and prepared to delight our palates. Warmed goat cheese on baguette, Prosciutto smoked salmon and marinated artichoke hearts, prawns and scallops, chicken simmered in lobster bisque, cognac lobster, braised lamb sirloins, and sirloin steak served with sauteed green beans and roasted potato all cooked to perfection. The personal touch of the chef, the incredible food, the great wine, and the lovely conversation elevated the experience into my top 10-lifetime dining experiences. Dining with Laurant was an invite to a French chef's table. It was a remarkable experience in every way. Perhaps I'm too bougie for my own good, or maybe I'm simply seeking pleasure in exceptional food experiences. The Joie VIP experience was a ticket to my happy place, one of the true VIP experiences an aspiring hedonist like me can find here in beautiful Victoria.
