Abigail's Hotel is just so nice! Their extraordinary hospitality began with a phone call we made a…read morefew months before our trip (which was answered by a real and knowledgeable person). I wanted to gut-check our plan to take the ferry from Seattle, use Uber to get to their hotel (and could we please leave our luggage up front since we'd arrive before check in? - to which the answer was, "of course you can!"), and then use Uber all around town. The very pleasant woman I spoke with (those months before arriving) assured me that our plan should work splendidly, and they looked forward to having us. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the nicest front desk people, who took our luggage for storage, then found our room had indeed been cleaned as early as possible and was in fact ready for us for early check in immediately! The property itself is reminiscent of a period of taste and attention to detail that seldom exists any more. Our room was beautiful: spacious, with two separate bathroom sinks and a separate jetted tub and walk-in shower, plus a small sitting area and plenty of space! So nicely appointed with everything in its place, and everything working. The entire lobby and library/lounge area was also beautifully appointed, and so homey and inviting. And breakfast - included with the room - was elaborate and scrumptious. Each day features both sweet and savory options; for example, pancakes, or eggs and bacon. My wife and I got one of each and shared them. It was all delectable. And each day's menu, specially prepared and printed for that day, includes a weather forecast for the day - even with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! We had such a wonderful stay that we hated to leave. We'd look forward to visiting Victoria again and would definitely choose Abigail's hotel again!!

With a long…read morehistory, the current owners made this into a great place to stay with modern conveniences without losing the old-style touches. The Library was a great quiet location, the room (Opal room) was comfortable, large, and provided greaat views out the many windows of the trees around the building. We particuly enjoyed breakfasts offered. Different each day, the quality was excellent as was fresh brewed coffee. Given the number of guests and limited dining room space for tables, the hotel requested us to pick a timeframe to dine so that the pace for table availabilty and meals were manageable. We chose 8:30A and we arrived each day with 10 minutes of that time. Worked great to get a table without feeling rushed or the food delayed in arriving! And each afternoon the chef put out a nice spread of meats/cheeses sometime, and homemade soup other times. All in all a great experience!

We came all the way from Texas after reading the wonderful reviews on yelp and this place surely…read moredid not disappoint. It is very well run and the service was very fast . We had the vindaloo mussels dish , which was pure heaven in taste. We also had the biryani salmon which was so fresh and flavorful . The portions were also very generous . I wish we were in Victoria longer to eat there another time

French Indian fusion spot in Victoria. Pretty solid spot - it wasn't busy when I went Sunday around…read more4:30pm but I can imagine it being quite busy on a Friday or Saturday evening as the space is quite small. I did call to make a reservation just in case but in the end was not needed - I believe that is the only way to reserve to ensure you don't need to wait for a table. I got the fishhook chowder and the squimp toast. Fishhook chowder was decent - felt a bit watered down as I was expecting a stronger spice at minimum, but also not too salty. A bit watery than I expected. But I can still taste notes of the coconut milk and herbs so it could've been a bit better. The squimp toast is amazing - this is a must get. It's a combo of Humboldt squid and shrimp, both of which carried the flavors forward in the toast. And it is quite crispy. It's a fairly substantial dish at a relatively good price so this is actually a lot better than the fishhook chowder that people keep hyping about. Service is good as water refills are apparent. It feels more a fast casual than a more formal sit down, but prices are great and reflective as such.

Despite not having a great experience with the fish offerings at this restaurants, I'd still go…read moreahead and say that Stage is amazing and has some potential to make changes to the menu! Love the European Wine Bar/French Bistro vibes they have going and it's located in the cute Fernwood neighbourhood. Love their approach on French-inspired foods and showcasing seasonal local fresh veggies and plating it differently. The food is fresh and light, which is always nice for a French restaurant. We got the local crudités served with the eggplant roasted dip and it was a delight. The tomatoes were fresh and I appreciated the various textures, depth and flavours. The dishes are great for sharing. Love the pomme frites. The BBQ shishitos were a treat! The bread and butter were phenomenal. I believe that it is freshly baked. The service was amazing! They have a great ever-changing wine list from Europe as well as different parts of Canada. In addition, they have amazing cocktails. Unfortunately, Stage fell a little short for us. We had sent an email in advance mentioning that we are pescatarians and do not eat meat. We were very excited to try their fish offerings (Halibut and Rockfish) off the menu that night but our waitress informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make any changes to the dishes and that some meat products were used in both fish options. We were very disappointed, especially since the food is so good. I recommend and advise that if you have two fish offerings, at least leave one completely pescatarian and free of meat products. We also didn't want to opt for the warm potato salad with mackerel since we had already had the pomme frites. As a result, we did not have a suitable protein option that night. This was the only thing that ticked us off, considering the level of care and pride they take with the food in their restaurant.

Really nice wine bar. Great wine and atmosphere. A bit pricy but very nice wine selection.read more

Came with my husband on a Saturday evening for date night…read more The ambiance of this spot is really cute and cozy. Very intimate and perfect for a date. They have two tasting menus (omnivorous and vegetarian) which I appreciate. We both chose the omnivorous. Portions are tiny but there's a lot of courses. A huge downside for us was how long in between courses there was. We were getting pretty hungry at one point and our conversation fell into a lull because we were just eager for food lol. The experience was around 3.5 hours. It would have been a lot better if it stuck to 2 hours. Maybe 3 max. Food was beautifully presented and quite tasty though!

Eating in the small kitchen while watching Chef Zac and Ben plate up the food, asking him how he made a specific dish was such a unique experience. He makes everything sound easy to make, but the presentation and flavors were unreal. Our favorites were the wagyu tartar, black cod and corn soup. At one point when we had the first bite of the wagyu tartar, my husband turned to me and said, "This may be the best bite of food I've ever had." Enough said. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. Just go here. You won't regret it. Thanks to Zac, Ben and Sheady for making our anniversary an unforgettable one.
