I was honestly disappointed with the dinner experience here. The biggest issue was how extremely slow the food refills were -- especially the crab legs. Staff could clearly see the trays were empty, yet customers were left waiting for small batches to come out every 15-20 minutes. At one point, only about 10 pieces of crab legs were added before they disappeared again immediately. For a place that advertises itself as a buffet, the food availability really did not match expectations. It felt frustrating paying buffet prices while constantly waiting for popular items to be restocked. I think the restaurant could improve a lot by refilling food more consistently during busy hours and preparing larger batches of high-demand items like crab legs so customers can actually enjoy the buffet experience instead of waiting for it to be filled. read more

Errand Sunday in Oak Harbor and rewarded with lunch I didn't have to cook. My wife enjoyed hers pretty well and was thrilled to have the grill station chef make a special veg stir fry she put together for him. He was quick and it came out awesome. I thought that things are better than last time with freshness, and quality on things like the sushi, salad bar, and other specialties it seemed. They kept things pretty well refilled and by they I mostly mean one very hard working older lady that also has to deal with peoples children's spills! But honestly it's funny to watch the kids have so much fun after church at a buffet. One 6 year old girl who's big brother in a suit and tie reach for plates full of just hard boil egg halves from the salad bar!! They were elated! So there is entertainment here too! It's still just a basic Chinese buffet but I think that most people can find their few go to items and really go to town and feel they got their moneys worth. read more

First time last year I came here I thought it was terrible. Maybe 2 stars. No review from me for that because I expected it. This year was 5 stars. The context being Whidbey Island. Good service. Really great price and quality. Not many choices on Whidbey so this was great. Also, my last year visit on a bad weather day, so low customer traffic, I was unimpressed but me wife whom I've turned on to Cajun flavor really liked their very mild version of a Cajun boil. It's under $15 for a huge variety of all you could eat Chinese food and everyone's complaining in the reviews like they expected a Michelin star meal Get over yourselves. This place is awesome! They have everything from Mongolian BBQ, sushi, hot and sour as well as egg drop soup to crab rangoons and gyoza. They even have a salad bar if you're into wasting space in your stomach on that. The food isn't the best sushi or Chinese you've ever had but it's good and cheap!! The people working are nice too. They've always been very accommodating when I go with a large groups of friends and they don't judge us when we eat more than we should. 10/10 recommended read more

We have come here many time and it's not that good but it's the only one in town. Gosh I wanted to eat some white rice and as I opened the thing where they have it I noticed it had a big hair inside. I told one of the girls that work here and all she did was say was,"wow " as she took the hair out of there and close it again. Walked away as if nothing had happened. I have been a residence in oak harbor Washington for many many years and I go to DH buffet sometimes two times a week but I am stop going because they have a problem with supplying things that you like and my example is if your crab legs is part of the buffet for your seafood boil is a part of the buffet at 6:30 because you think me and my family ate all the crab legs when I'm sitting looking at a couple other customers eating them all but when I ask you are you bringing more out the answer is that's all and I really have a problem with that because if you're paying for those particular items to be on the menu you don't get a chance to just say you're not bringing any more out because you think one table ate all of them so it's one of the only buffets in oak harbor Washington but after that day I will not be going anymore and personally I feel discriminated against because that happens every time I go and I'm a vegetarianan read more

We come to Oak Harbor to visit family and most times when we come up and go out for lunch we choose here! The food is really well kept up with. They have a pretty fun variety. My husband loves the Mongolian grill section, but I prefer the sushi. It's great for larger groups and it's awesome for children too. It's loud enough you feel like you don't have to be quiet with a toddler in tow! The dessert section I think could use some sprucing up, most desserts looked dried out and not appetizing. But they always have the soft serve machine which is a fan favorite of course. We will continue to come especially for the inexpensive price at lunch! read more

The food was horrible and cold. Crab Rangoon's were still frozen in the middle. In fact all the food was pretty much cold but just tasted nasty. I absolutely do not recommend that you eat at this place. I called for the manager and asked them to look at my food so they can see I didn't eat any other than the few pieces that were absolutely horrible. She said I still had to pay and I told her I would call the police. She said leave and never come back here. For lunch Monday-Saturday, it's only $9.35/person and for dinner Monday-Saturday/brunch on Sundays, it's $13.99/person! We came for lunch on a Saturday and would've been happy with $15/person, but you can't beat under $10/person! Plus, they offer 15% off for military. Now the prices are super affordable, but the food quality was just alright. But then again, that's buffets for yeah. I've eaten here about 15-20 times. The food is what you would expect of an Chinese buffet. Good variety and typical Chinese style food. This has always been a great option on days I don't feel like cooking dinner or just want Chinese food. The only complaints I have regarding the buffet is the freshness of the food. Like many buffets the food often sits until someone grabs it and completely empties the plate. I usually ask the buffet staff for fresh food if I notice it's been sitting for a long period of time and then I'll stand at the buffet until it's brought out (because I don't mind waiting-- although I shouldn't have to) The crab legs will only be refilled if you ask. It's Oak Harbor... The Chinese Buffet is typical Fare. It's not crowded, the prices are reasonable. It has a Mongolian grill as well as a sushi station. My grandchildren favorite place to go, they can choose what they want to eat, it has ice cream ; then they get to feed the goldfish as we leave. I was standing by hibachi grill when one of the cooks was bringing a new apple pastry out, and dropped it in the steam table water, and hurriedly fetched it out and displayed it to be served. I was initially skeptical about eating here especially reading the review about the maggot, but I was not too let down with my decision to give it a try ! We arrived around 630 and a lot of the selection was low, but as promised throughout the rest of our visit the food was replenished. I was able to get nice and full as well as my children. Typical Chinese buffet so of course high end food is not to be expected , but the fresh food came out hot and they did a good job of making sure nothing remained too low. Living in the SF Bay area, there are many Chinese/Asian buffet restaurant and most of them will charge up to $27/person for dinner with so so service and ok food. However, while traveling, our hotel hostess recommended this place due to the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the venue. We took up on her suggestion and couldn't be happier! I attended the DH Buffet Saturday night with my spouse. She must really love me. As with many of our dining experiences, we started with some shopping. Beside the DH you will find a dollar store. Unlike Canadian dollar stores, this place has an amazing variety of goods each for $1 or less. I am starting to believe that in the USA one could do all of one's grocery shopping at a dollar store. If we lived in the USA I would try this experiment and see whether we could survive for one month on dollar store groceries. The DH was a somewhat familiar sight given our recent visit to the Jumbo. The sights and sounds were similar as was the menu. I must admit that the food was better at the Jumbo and the Four Seasons. Still, the dining experience at the DH was delightful. We sampled the many food offerings and were delighted by the expanse of the desert table. A few items were unique at the DH. The one item I was most surprised to see was the frog legs. I have not sampled frog legs for many years and my spouse, having lost the rock-paper-scissors, was the one to sample them this time. She tells me they taste like chicken. Never been here because I was really skeptical about it, but decided to give it a chance because my father in law wanted Chinese food. Now I'm Filipino and have been to so many Asian buffets in my life (lol).I know on the island, there are not too many good places to eat, let alone good authentic Asian food. The food was terrible. I got a little bit of everything. Everything I had was dry and really bland! There was no taste to anything. Had the beef and broccoli and it didn't taste good at all. The teriyaki chicken tasted like rubber. Baked mussels tasted like garbage- the worst I've ever had. Trust me, I really wanted to give this place a chance. The only thing I liked was the sautéed green beans and that's about it. You can tell that a lot of the food wasn't fresh. Almost like it was made a couple of days before, reheated and served again. And this is obvious in how hard the wrapper was on the dim sum. Smh. If they made their food Fresh and made their dishes with more flavor, it has the potential to be really good.
