The food is great, I been to many teriyaki places in this city and so far this place has the best tasting chicken teriyaki. The service is excellent, the person running the orders saw that our order may take a little longer so she gave us gyoza on the house and water, she asked how we are doing and built rapport. She even wrapped everything up for us so we can take off. Her customer Service is excellent . I rate this five stars for the combination of excellency between service and food. read more

Seemeed pricey to me for a simple lunch of beef noodles - $12. My son said it was ok but expected better for the tittle "BEST."

Great teriyaki but my fav is the yakisoba- so tasty and superior to my last favorite place. Call ahead and ready in 10min.

The food isn't bad. The portions are decent sized and it's not ridiculously priced. Although, the service can be very slow, especially around noon on a weekday as they get quite a bit of to go orders. My advice would be to call your order ahead, even if you're eating in and have a short lunch. It is a little bit more expensive than other teriyaki places but much bigger portions than the place across the street. Not a ton of tables, maybe 7-8 at the most? A few of which are only 2 person tables, so not a ton of room to eat in it it's busy. I have gotten a couple of bites of teriyaki that were a bit chewy or gristly, hopefully that's just a one time thing. That and the slower service, I think there's only ever one cook, are my biggest issues with this place. read more

On a whim my boyfriend and I decided to try Best Teriyaki on riverside in Mt vernon. Deforestation left much to be desired no real identity. We had to go the counter to order amd we sat ourselves. With in 15 min we had our food. Presentation was good my Alison didn't have much flavor and after several bites I found a hair which was not mine and couldnt finish. The short of it: this place really deserves a 3.5 rating, but some things are more forgivable. Both the Teriyaki beef and chicken are pretty good. Gyozas are very good too. The people doing the service aren't super chatty, but they are quick. Prices are on par with most other teriyaki joints, but perhaps a few plates are a bit high. The longer version: I've been here twice now and both times the beef/chicken and gyozas have been good. I'd say there's a good chance for consistency here. The people who have taken my order are very nice and pretty quick too. My second trip was during the lunchtime hour and I received my food in a pretty timely manor. Yes my meal was served with a fork; sure I'm not "Asian-looking". But I am staring at two "Asian-looking" people using forks right now along with everyone else in the place. Can we not play the race card immediately when when servers can't read our minds as to what we want? Ask them for some chopsticks. It's not hard to use your grown-up words to ask for something. 5 stars to me is above average. This place does and serves what it should which makes it about average, everything else is personal preference. where it should loose half a point is in the ambiance setting; the walls could use a new coat of paint. The nature "theme" isn't bad (IMHO). I'm glad it doesn't have a "sterile" look, but it is a couple of steps away from looking looking like it needs a redux. The prices on most things are pretty comparable to other places. The bottled soda is a bit high along with some of the rib meats. Haven't had the sushi yet to comment on them, but the pictures do look appetizing. Will be back again! read more

After all that time I come to the conclusion that this restaurant is the best teriyaki restaurant in the valley. They always have had thick cut white breast chicken meat, good flavor teriyaki sauce, good atmosphere, and the best personality, even though he doesn't speak too much English. Very friendly people, very good prices (Under five dollars for a chicken bowl and the same for side of gyoza goes perfect together for a $10 lunch) I Eat here at least three days a week and had felt like I had to make a yelp account after seeing that atrocious review. Ordered a 6 piece tempura shrimp and chicken teriyaki to go. The tempura shrimp was GROSS. The batter was like wet, gooey, layered pancake batter, not tempura at all! The shrimp were not plump, but scraggly pieces of shrimp. The chicken teriyaki was not that great. Large serving with rice and a stupid little salad with creamy Italian dressing. Why these places serve a small iceberg lettuce salad with a few bits of carrot and call it a salad, I don't know? Yuck. Total cost $20. ABSOLUTELY will NOT return again. read more

I haven't had a good unagi (eel meat) bowl in awhile, and I still haven't. Went here just by chance and since I was hungry for lunch and I hadn't gone to a Japanese place in awhile I decided to try it out. Since "teriyaki" is in its restaurant name I kept my expectations low since the places I've gone to with "teriyaki" in its name are pretty lackluster. However, I think my expectations were a tad too high despite being lowered. First off, even if a customer's not Asian-looking at least provide chopsticks along with a fork. I know it's a tiny petpeeve, but it's not like all non-Asian people don't know how to handle chopsticks for eating. Then the unagi bowl. I don't know what kind of sauce they used, but it was way too sweet and tangy. Oh wait, it must've been teriyaki sauce... On top of that, there was a huge glob of wasabi on top of the unagi. I don't even know why you'd put wasabi on unagi. Anyways, I ended up finishing the bowl just because I was hungry, and because I didn't want to put the $12 I spent to waste. In the end, though, I don't think I'll ever be coming back here again. 1 star for unlimited tea and water, and for being close to the AT&T store which means a free wifi connection. The best teriyaki I have found in either Skagit and Whatcom Counties. The name really describes it perfectly. I ordered chicken fried rice and I specified for "dine in". They promptly delivered my steaming hot meal in Styrofoam to-go containers ... so hot in fact that the grotesque amount of oil (approx 5 tablespoons) at the bottom of my entre had melted the container and I only discovered this fact after I had ingested an unknown amount of the melted container. I would have said something to the workers if I thought the message would be received. I've contacted the health department in the past with no-action taken so from my point of view there was really no action that would produce a favorable result .. tax payer dollars apparently not at work. read more
