I stopped by here on my way home from an appointment earlier this week. I've never been before, and I'm always up for checking out a new spot! This little place was hopping for a Monday afternoon - a few people were already inside waiting to pick up orders, and at least three food delivery drivers popped in while I was there, too! I would definitely call this spot old school. It's not fancy, but the food is cooked fresh and I appreciated that immensely. Is it the best teriyaki I've ever had? Honestly, no. The chicken was a bit dry in my chicken/beef combo. The beef, sliced super thin, was ok but a little fatty. The accompanying rice was pretty dry, too, and I was sad that there weren't even a few little veggies to make it look a bit more appealing. On the plus side, besides being freshly made on the spot, my food came out quickly despite them being fairly busy. The woman behind the counter was also friendly and helpful. Prices are definitely "2025 style" but I guess this is true of most places these days. Would I go back? Hmmm...not sure. Maybe! read more

Best spicy chicken this side of Yoshino's on First Hill. Portions are good, and the meat is juicy and tender. Average storefront style sushi, but the teriyaki makes up for it. read more

Not good at all, super strange service. I would not eat here again. Both employees sat on their phones the entire time I was there, brought me my meal in a take out box, no side sauces on the tables, no plates, no water unless you want to buy one. Why ask if it's dine in or take out if your going to plop a to go box on the table? Salad wasn't dressed just in a to go box with a side of dressing. read more

Their kalibu(short ribs) are great. Pretty comparable to Hawaiian short ribs. The guy at the register was Friendly and the take out was fast. We will make the drive again. read more

Pretty disappointed in the food overall. The salad dressing was extremely vinegar and like the consistency of a melted milkshake. The miso soup was very fishy. California roll was tasteless. The teryiyaki sauce was like microwaved maple syrup with a bit of ginger added. Carrots and onions were stored near the bathroom which poses some health concerns. They closed at 830 and we specifically went in after back to school night because there was seating in the lobby. We were told that only to go orders could be made at 8:00 PM. With a 7 week old baby and a 4 year old exhausted child the staff wanting to bail at exactly 830 resulted in us all eating in the car. Overall it was very disappointing. read more

The worst chicken katsu ever is served here!!!! It was hard, brown, dried out .. the chicken must of been re cooked and served in my to go plate. Also the salad dressing was very vinegarie and really runny like watered down.. I will never spend another dollar in this restaurant...... VERY DISAPPOINTED. Let me start by saying I am very picky about my teriyaki. I was spoiled by the no longer in business Happy Teriyaki in Lynnwood. It was always crowded (next door to police dept. and down the street from library, rec center and fire station) but never had to wait for a table. Umi Teriyaki was more like chicken stew. I love this place. We live just around the corner. There California rolls are awesome just like Sakura s . Teriyaki chicken is great, we even had there fish and chips they were great too. We truly enjoy Japanese food, and have eaten at teriyaki restaurants from San Francisco to Vancouver. The food and the fast, friendly service exceeded our expectations on both of our visits. If you're going to eat here there are a few things you should know. Nobody in the kitchen wears hair nets or hats and the tables don't gets cleaned very often. The food is decent. I've had the chicken teriyaki and the chicken bento box. I wish they had fountain drinks. read more

We have been eating here for years thought the food was good. Not overly great but good and located nicely as we were running out of town. Tonight we got food that was tasteless, rubbery, and overcooked rice. We called to let them know and they said we should order our teriyaki differently for it to taste better.
