This is the best Teriyaki in town. The people are so nice and just love their jobs. The services the best I've ever had.

The owner was very rude / manager and I believe their is a language barrier I was not able to pick up my food and pay for it.

I called in for order pickup, you wait longer if u do a walk-in. Disappointed in the shrimp stir-fry, they used bay shrimp, too much cabbage.. where's the bean sprouts. Sauce was good though. The combo was ok, just like everyone's Teri chicken in the area (overcooked and hard). I'm from Hawaii and they keep the chicken whole which I prefer. It seems you don't get as much when it's sliced. You get two huge scoops of rice and a salad. Not sure why I only got one salad as I ordered two lunches. Portions are good for two people to share. read more

Went there Monday to eat with my boyfriend we ordered food sat down tried are food wasn't good at ALL. Tasted like it was from days ago or just wasn't good at all. The sauce for the lettuce looked and tasted nasty . the service was horrible she came up to us yelling at us because we told her the food wasn't good at all. She was super rude about it . The lady at the front counter was very nice and the wait wasn't long at all. The chicken teriyaki was wonderful and the beef yakisoba was okay. You can tell they make their own teriyaki sauce which was nice and the portion sizes of the meals were generous. I would recommend this place for teriyaki. We have been eating here since Kyong and her husband owned both the restaurant and convenience store. When the previous owners owned and ran both the restaurants food was great. Ya it was fast food terriaki style but it was prepared fresh and with love. Move forward a year later and both the restaurant and store have been sold to new owners. The new owners are wonderful people. Super cool and a pleasure to Interact with however the quality of their restaurant has gone down hill. It's obvious their more popular meals are not prepared fresh. Even their Wok meals are pre made. How do I know this you may ask? The last time I ordered a wok meal it was ice box cold. OMG they forgot to microwave it. Who wants microwave wok stir-fry. What a shame they used to have such good good. We have tried to order from here a few time, and have not returned. Its a fast food take out, nothing more. The meals for the price paid, is kinda spendy, especially compared to comparative restaurants. Its really for take out, not where you want to eat it. The last time I ordered food I got home and noticed they forgot to put any sauces in the meal. Yes I could spent 20 minutes driving there and back, but it was just not worth it. The ordering and service inside is lacking, order ahead of time, and its not ready. The taste is okay, nothing more. But I do not feel its worth returning to. If I give a place a number of tries, and its the same, or worse, thats all I am willing to invest in their services. I give up on them. read more

Ordered plate of gyoza, lady with the short hair said there's a 7 dollar minimum when using card and Said they have to pay .85 cents to cover cost of debit. Chicken teriyaki was really good! Haven't found good teriyaki chicken since moving here a year ago. The Mongolian beef however was not that good so we were disappointed and I would not recommend it. Called in the order to go and she asked if we wanted the beef regular or spicy, I said spicy of course not knowing she was going to charge an extra dollar and not tell us. It wasn't even spicy at all so that made me mad!!! I'd go back for the teriyaki but I'd be hesitant try anything else. read more

The rating is based on customer service alone. I tried to place my order and the lady (short hair with a bowl haircut) misunderstood my order, I tried to tell her that my order was different AND SHE TOTALLY FREAKED! she told me she was too busy, she didn't understand and she hung up. Never have I had anything like that happen, I wasn't being mean.. All I said was, "instead of another order of chicken fried rice, could I do my teriyaki chicken with fried rice." There's definitely a language barrier, so I can understand that it may be frustrating, but I wasn't being aggressive or rude, I'm just at a loss for words. Thiefs. Don't eat there unless you want to get ripped off. They over charged our order and when we went through the math with them on a calculator and showed them their error they began speaking a foreign language claiming they dont speak English, generally playing dumb. I have worked for over 7 years in the food industry so if I taste either bad/old chicken that's been deep fried or chicken that's been reheated, I know. I had 2 other co-workers try it and they also were disgusted. Teriyaki Time made me pay 10 bucks for old chicken. When I called to complain they said the oil was replaced yesterday (10/16) and the chicken was freshly fried 10 minutes before I got there and not reheated. If that's the case then they are using chicken past pull date. She only gave me 9.50 back and then tried making me feel shitty over the 50 cents but I wanted gas money for the 2 wasted trips and wasn't going to get it so why should I let her steal 50 cents from me? She even stated that she knew that she owed me 10 bucks back but that the register said she owed me 9.50. I planned out my 30 minute lunch break, I called them 10 minutes before my break started so their crappy service and probable lies about freshness made it so I only got to eat something at the END of my break. I had to ask my boss for extra time to eat which means I got paid less because of them as well as the gas. Umi Teriyaki and Best Teriyaki were closed by 8pm so I couldn't even eat what I wanted. All I'm saying is the price of the Katsu plus an extra sauce and tax was 10 bucks. I don't like that I had to also drive there twice and lost 15 minutes of pay. They might as well have charged 15. If I wanted to pay 15 I'd go somewhere worth 15. Instead of here consider going to Taco Time which is also on College Way, their food was very fresh and the staff polite. *Edit* and just to be clear... I follow the 5 second rule. Apparently it's the customer's responsibility to check their food before they leave... Ordered take-out consisting of 2 - Chicken & Katsu. Part of the Katsu is the Katsu sauce...otherwise you are just eating dry, breaded chicken. Get home and realize that they forgot the Katsu sauce (after about 20 mins., so food is just warm at this point). So then I called to see how they would remedy the situation. First, they suggested I drive back to get the Katsu sauce, which would further let my food get colder, so no to that. Then, they suggested I just eat the dry, breaded chicken and get a free meal later. I suggested I would rather have them remake my meals so they are hot and include the Katsu sauce this time. They then "agreed" they would remake my meals if I brought back the others. Ok...so I drive back to Teriyaki Time... I get there and nothing has been remade. At this point, I would rather just get a refund and get something else to eat. They say no refunds and in the process of arguing with them, they say it was partially my responsibility to check my food. Wait...I understand if I asked for "free" extra sauce or something checking to see if it was there but it is fully their responsibility to make sure what I ordered and paid for is in my containers...and their responsibility to remedy the problem when an order was not complete. At this point, I just tell them I will wait for them to remake my food...but wait again, now they don't want to remake my food (as agreed on the phone earlier) unless I pay for it. On top of that, they don't sound like they want to help at all because now I'm being "rude" (I didn't raise my voice, curse, or make a scene). Now, I just tell them to give me back my now cold food with Katsu sauce so I can go home and eat, since they are unwilling to remedy the situation as agreed. I know many other take-out businesses that would have handled this situation much differently. Also, with the high turnover of restaurants in their location (I've counted 4 in 6 years here), you would think they would want to keep their customers with excellent service. It's a shame because if it wasn't for their poor handling of this situation, I probably would have made this my go-to teriyaki restaurant in Mt. Vernon. read more
