Ambiance and all the quirkiness mentioned in other reviews hold true. But, the flavors were excellent. Some of the chicken in the Yellow curry was a bit chewy. The proprietor provided service with a smile and even gave us a couple of small cups of ice cream at no charge ... with plastic forks. A spoon would have been better, but a story about a gift horse comes to mind. Good on them for making a successful go at a family business. The Thai Garden is on my list for takeout. read more

The food is terrible. The green curry is watery, no coconut milk whatsoever. The massaman curry takes like a Chef Boyardee base. They serve you water in plastic bottles. The radio doesn't play music, just non-stop talking (in Thai). I feel bad dissing the place, but it's just bad. read more

So glad we tried La Conner Thai Garden. As a family, Thai food is by far our favorite cuisine. My husband has traveled to Thailand many times as well. That being said, this was the BEST Thai food we've had. Ten out of ten recommend. We tried - fresh spring rolls with tofu and freshly made peanut sauce. My daughter said she could have drank the sauce. It was divine! For entrees we had garlic chicken, garlic tofu, pad see ew veggie, pad see ew tofu, garlic green beans pork, and pad prik king chicken. All were served with steamed rice. I personally had the garlic green beans and could have licked my plate clean. I ordered a 3 spicy level and easily could've done a 4. So much flavor! So fresh! Just absolutely delicious. The service was amazing and everything was made by the gentleman running the restaurant. He even brewed the tea for iced tea! He brought us complimentary ice cream once we polished off our lunch. The garden outside is beautiful with squirrels, a small pond, and even a local cat. I'd go back every day of our vacation if I could. Recommended for families, couples, newbies to Thai food, locals, and tourists. A very good locally owned Thai restaurant in La Conner. The owners live above the restaurant, and it's truly a multi-generational family affair. The food is simple and good, although not as fancy or gourmet as some more expensive restaurants. The dining experience is good, with plenty of seating inside and a large patio outside for summer dining. Traditional Thai decore can be found throughout. Service is friendly and informal. Be sure to ask for recommendations if you haven't decided what to eat. My go-to dishes are the pad se ew, panang curry and green curry. First, let's start with the positive. Good for you for opening a restaurant. That's never an easy thing to do. They were nice enough. Ok. Now that's out of the way. Ambiance? No. None. I'm not sure who said this was traditional decor". But it was no decore. Plastic table cloths, some under glass, some not. Ok super casual. And bland. And didn't feel so clean. Oh, and no music. They were playing the Taiwanese news, in Thaiwanese. . This was the absolute worst Thai food we've ever had. I have no idea what the other people were reviewing, but this was terrible. We walked into the restaurant. Something didn't seem quite right"clean". But, ok. Let's not judge. So we took a seat at a table . The waiter brought each of us a bottled water. Bottled. As in Cosco brand Kirkland water bottles. We looked at the menu. Weren't too sure about the the place, and thought, "we can't go wrong with curry". Wow, were we wrong. We ordered the Green curry with chicken and the Masaman curry with tofu. It can with white rice. The first problem: pretty sure the curries were made with water and not coconut milk. Neither had ANY flavor . Zip, zillch, zero. Honestly, the flavor was kinda gross. The texture was wrong, like pouring green and red water over rice. At least the chicken was cooked through. Even the tofu wasn't good. That's difficult to do, bad tasting tofu. The steamed rice was fine. The food tasted so bad, that we paid for the meal and left without taking more than a couple of bites. It's pretty obvious that the owners are praying they only get tourists during b tulip season, and said tourists never come back to la Conner And have never eaten Thai food in their life. Our experience here was pleasant. It was a slow weekend at La Conner, but the service and food was pretty good, although a little on the fusion side (Chinese and vietnamese). Love this place, locals love this place, To the couple that both wrote a bad review regarding watery curries, that must be a one off, their curry is bomb, especially the Massaman. Service is Homestyle, Ambiance is Homestyle as well, if you don't like that, and you expect some Michelin Dining Ambiance in La Conner, then maybe you're in the wrong place. For vegans walking around La Conner there are certainly not a lot of choices. Thinking Thai would be safe as the food is generally made to order. We ordered three dishes and were surprised at how yummy they were. We've had Thai in Seattle and all over the country that wasn't as good! The tofu fresh rolls were pretty good although they were 90% lettuce. No thin rice noodles or mint. The peanut dip sauce was warm which was lovely but very very sweet. The tofu veggie fried rice was fantastic. We ordered Tofu Pad See Ew and it was also terrific. The BIG negative was the two bottles of Costco water brought to the table. We drove 30 minutes out of our way to try a new Thai restaurant. La Connor has some good restaurants so we thought we would try Thai Garden. We arrived hungry around 6:00. There was one other couple in the restaurant and a woman sitting at a table with a television on. The only place to sit that didn't look like it was part of the work area was one of the three tables along the window. The other couple was sitting at one so we took the one next to them. The man who seemed to be the owner brought us menus promptly with two plastic bottles of water. Weird. We looked at the menu while listening to the television in the background and looking at our plastic water bottles. We decided the high prices were not going to be worth this dining experience, and even if they weren't high, would not be worth it. Can't say anything about the food because we left. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's local. I waited to try this place a few times before I wrote a review. The first time I ate here I ordered the pad thai. The sauce was made out of ketchup. I'm not kidding. It was ketchup noodles and a big disappointment. Now fast forward I order the chicken fried rice. I find hair in my food and the chicken meat they use here is fake. It's processed chicken meat. The service is good and there is plenty of room. Like I wanted to like this place but two strikes and it's a no go for me. There is better Thai food out there. read more

My bestie and I stopped in here for lunch after a day of tulips. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Inside is a bit odd and cluttered. Reminded me of a grandmother's home. On the day of our visit, the Thai beer was out of stock which was a bit disappointing. We each ended up ordering a bottle of Kirin (Japanese) beer for $3.95 each. It pleased me to also have an ice cold glass served with my beer. For our meals, we each ordered the lunch combo for $8.95: main course, jasmine rice and soup of the day. The Soup of the Day was Egg Drop which contained the frozen blend of peas, carrots and corn vegetable mixture. Different. We both chose Red Curry for our main meal with a five star heat level. I appreciated that the heat level was indeed a five star. I wish that the heat level would have also extended to the Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was under-cooked but still tasty. We ate there last friday. We've been there several times before. This time was okay - not great. The food was good as usual, but the inside needed a good cleaning and we could hear the couple (wife serving, hubby cooking) arguing about something which made things a bit awkward. There was a for sale sign outside the entrance. Not sure if it was for the property, business or both - but that could have impacted the cleanliness and service ... The service was friendly professional and polite. The waiter accommodated all my requests ex: extra napkins, a water refill, an additional side of rice and he did so with no language barrier at all. One of the best Thai restaurants in Skagit County! The food is especially good and the service and ambiance are just fine.

Ordered pad thai through the Beyond Menu Link on their website, only to find out this is a random third party app that will probably steal your credit card information. It's based out of Illinois, so be prepared to get a call from a (630) number when there's a problem with your order. So first off, don't do that. Secondly, they didn't have fresh or fried spring rolls and could not credit it to my card, so they switched it for pot stickers, which I didn't really want, but again I couldn't get a refund. They weren't very good and tasted sort of stale. The pad thai came with some weird orange sauce that did not at all taste like pad thai. More like a weird sweet-and-sour. I also didn't taste any peanut anything on it at all. There was no heat or much flavor at all. The chicken tasted like it was microwaved. My husband got panang curry and liked it and liked thought the potstickers were fine, but this did nothing to satisfy my Thai craving. read more
