Consistency matters. Consistency in the quality of food. Consistency in service. The restaurant business runs on small margins and every customer gets earned with difficulty and lost with ease. Consistency also matters when it comes to my red curry. Red curry is a simple dish and that nice texture of coconut milk adds a rich comfort to a simple a delicious dish. When the coconut milk separates and achieves that watery consistency, it loses everything. The good news is that it's easy to detect, because a flavorless red curry with a texture barely up to the consistency of water, it's absolutely disgusting. Yes, I called and let the business know. Yes, they offered to remake it. No, I didn't accept, that's not good enough. Takeout means the need to monitor the food at the moment it goes out. It's impossible to dish up a watery red curry and not know. Not doing so simply means someone didn't care. I also don't care now. I don't care to support a business that doesn't support me. I'm not going to drive back to the store to fix two mistakes, one not cooking the dish right and two, going ahead and dishing it up so my dinner is ruined. You didn't just ruin a dish, you ruined a relationship, lost a customer. Gone. Because somebody made a choice and now I have also. Disappointing. read more

Note they are currently closed on Sundays. This may be a seasonal thing, or it may be permanent. I've had several meals here recently, and enjoyed them all. I had a Pumpkin Curry (vegetable only, brown rice sub'd for white). I ordered it spicy (just below Thai Spicy), and it was indeed spicy (perfect for me). It had a lot of pumpkin pieces, along with some other veggies, and the sauce was enjoyably flavorful. My husband had the Pad Kee Mao, with veggies and steamed tofu (instead of fried). The noodles were suitably wide, chewy, and delicious. Veggies were pretty decent, though the broccoli was a bit overcooked. There were also pieces of carrot, bell pepper, onion, and a tomato or two. He had his usual complaint of wishing for more veggies, but overall he was quite pleased. He had a spice level of Medium, which was hot enough to give it a kick, but not too hot for him to eat. For dinner, I had Som Tum (what many places call Papaya salad). I ordered it hot. It came with the same or very similar ingredients to Papaya salad, and was very well made. Having it hot gave it a different taste from the normally mild spice level of Papaya salad. I quite enjoyed it (so much so, that I had it again the next night). My husband had Pra Ram, with brown rice and steamed Tofu. He said he liked it a lot, as it wasn't sickly sweet as some make Thai peanut sauce. It also wasn't too thick, nor too thin. The veggies seemed similar to what he had with his lunchtime Pad Kee Mao, but this time the broccoli was cooked perfectly to his liking. Prices are extremely reasonable, and service is friendly. Prices were pretty good for this inflation laden world... But the food didn't quite meet the "best Thai in town" bar. Spicy had almost no hint of spice (it could be that they are catering mostly to a clientele that prefers that), but they happily brought out more chilis. The "hot pot" that soups came in looked cool, but because they didn't use the burner, it cooled the soup too quickly, I would suggest sticking to the bowl size for eating in. Dining room was a bit chilly too even though they brought out a space heater. Curries were watery very little veggies. Probably they do the stir fried and noodle dishes better? Not my first choice restaurant in town, if this is the best Thai in town I recommend folks to pay a visit to Seattle sometime. read more

Given the high rating of this restaurant, I'm concerned that locals haven't tasted good Thai food. We had tom yum soup, pad thai, spicy eggplant, and mango sticky rice. Everything was very mediocre, but the pad thai was downright gross - very oily, the noodles were stuck together, and no discernable peanut flavor. The tom yum tasted mostly watery. The only dish that was approaching "good" was the spicy eggplant, which unfortunately came in a small portion compared to everything else (despite a similar price). Not authentic Thai. Flavors are lacking. Traditional dishes are sparsely flavorful. Meats we had were very lack luster. My mother had the Crab (real crab) pad Thai. It was rather stinky and tasted a bit sour. Which are the ear marks of being spoiled. She didn't even eat half of it after scraping the crab off. My father had the pumpkin curry, which the waiter stated was not spicy but definitely was for him, he had to add sugar and rice to mellow it out. My Pra Ram was definitely lack luster. I ordered takeout from this restaurant on Friday evening. The food was OK, but not really good. I would not agree with someone's review that this is the best Thai in town. The prices for food were very good, it did not cost more than $35 for an appetizer and two entrees. I'm a little bit disappointed. I walked into Tin House to get some food to go, and I was expecting something different, since their subtitle is "Thai Street Food." I was hoping for little dishes you could eat in the go. Instead, it turned out to be a pretty standard Thai restaurant menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, although I realized later that I wasn't asked how spicy I wanted the food. On the plus side, they have Tod-Mun (fish cakes) on the appetizer menu. The place looks really nice in a rustic way, and they have great outdoor seating. They also had a very interesting alcohol assortment, including organic and native owned vineyards, as well as Tom Yum and Tom Kha beer in addition to the normal Thai beers. Not the best Thai food in Anacortes, but DEFINITELY the most expensive. Service is fast. You can eat here, but it's really not a Sit-down venue.. I likely won't be back. $120, including a generous tip, for two people's take out is ridiculous. That's just food, no drinks, no cocktails, no beer. And not amazing Thai food, pretty average Thai food. If you - reasonably - want rice with your entree, it's a $2.50 extra charge. For five bucks extra we got two small to-go containers, each three quarters full. RICE. $0.15 worth of RICE. Friendly pirates. I was in Anacortes for the Oyster Run and read about the Tin House here on Yelp and decided to check it out. I have recently become a fan of Thai food and normally choose to eat at Mai Thai in Oak Harbor, but since I was in Anacortes I decided to try Tin House. I found Tin House on Commercial Ave just a block or two down from Pizza Factory. I don't remember seeing it before, but I don't really get out to Anacortes all that often. The decor was appealing and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and a rather large serving. I chose to eat outside to watch all the motorcycles ride by while I enjoyed my lunch. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and it was similar to most Thai restaurants except the bell peppers seemed to be in larger chunks than I'm used to, but I liked the bell pepper chunks. Also, I forgot to ask that the dish be prepared spicy. Ah well. But, the Tin House prepared it with a heap of black pepper on top. Again, something I'm not used to but I found it to be tasty!! For my beverage I tried their Thai Iced Tea. I enjoyed the taste, but didn't realize there was milk in the tea. So, I didn't drink all of it, just a bit to sample the taste. I liked it so much that I will ask for Thai Iced Tea without milk next time to see if it tastes good without the milk. read more

I ordered Pad Thai with 3 stars. There was hardly any spice to it, and the portion was small. There are better places in town, so I probably won't be returning anytime soon. This was one of the most amazing Thai places I have ever had! And it's just a little place I wouldn't have ever stopped and thought about! We walked in and they only have about 4 tables but the owners of the restaurant gave up there's to us so we didn't have a wait (I mean starting off of the right foot of service!) Loved the menu (was this hard plastic and just unique) and then we each got a tin water glass. Loved the charm of it all. But the food was amazing. I love yellow curry and have tried it many places but this was just so good. The chicken was so thin and clean and it really took on the flavor as if it simmers for hours (sometimes you just know when chicken is chucked in last minute). I just loved it. My friends got cashew chicken and their broccoli dish. They both loved it but said that it was spicier than what they would have expected for mild and medium. So if you don't like spice you need to say no spice! One star was still a strong kick! Definitely coming back when we are in town again! read more

Went the for lunch - I had the drunken noodle and daughter had the red curry. Both were with chicken. We also had the fried bananas with honey and the Roti. They were all so good! The drunken noodles has a slight Spivey flavor that was spot on. The noodles were super soft and very flavorful. The bananas and Roti was outstanding!! The atmosphere was very quaint and comfortable. They made sure we had a portable heater by our table to stay warm. Service was well done- a little slow but friendly. This is a nice small spot to stop at for some easy Thai. read more

if you like thai food please, please do not eat here.. i honestly don't like leaving bad reviews unless they're truly deserved.. i LOVE thai food and this made sad in my pants.. i mean, at least we didn't find a hair.. first off, let's talk about size gouging, which i wouldn't have minded if it was good, or at least mentioned on the menu, but no to both.. everywhere else in the u.s. (i say this having traveled it extensively for work for 12 years and currently living in miami where everything is awful): 8 rangoon 1 quart of curry here: rangoon, 6 curry, somewhere between a pint and a quart.. and does curry no longer come with rice?? i ordered EXTRA and received the tiniest box of rice--dare i risk hyperbole and say ever?? yes.. yes i do--ever.. crab rangoon: maybe try changing your fryer oil.. it looked good but tasted like burnt oily a**hole.. beef salad: two small, sad chunks of iceberg and beef leather.. i generally like to eat my food but this was far too challenging.. onions were good!! pineapple fried rice: i should've just gone to the mall and i don't even know where the mall is.. red curry: my go to and favorite!! it tasted a little better after being salted by my bitter tears.. i was really excited for takeout with my sister and this straight ruined it.. booooooo.. read more

You know what, I like this place. In Anacortes for a week and I ordered food here four times. I had the Larb Salad, chicken is Very Good. Pad Kra Pow-very good, Pad Kee Mao-Good, The Spicy Eggplant-Very Good, and the Pork belly appetizer was good! I just wish it came with a different sauce than the sweet chili sauce. The Fish cake "Tod Mun" appetizer was not my favorite, I did eat it all though. Even the Thai Ice Tea was better than average. Most of all the place is very comfortable and is not a large open, traditional restaurant setup, which I liked. The outside seating on a sunny day is Very Nice. Very good! Despite the number of thai places, there's always a little difference with each. Some can be due to the region. This place is new and remodeled. Now it had a good area of outside seating and the owner said for colder days, there will be outdoor heaters. A huge plus for me, it's one of the only places that have roti which is what initially pulled me in lol. I had it plain, and it was so good, flakey and thin. Tom Kah was really creamy and savory, the way I like it and the eggplant was the right consistency and not overrun with other veggies. Mango and sticky rice dessert was good, a little sweet for my taste but the mango was perfect. Thai tea can be made with coconut milk or half and half.
