I love a good "worn-in" pub. I don't need fancy, but friendly staff, a fun, welcoming atmosphere, and great pub grub are musts, and this one has it all. There is a pool table, a jukebox, plenty of seating (both in the bar and in the restaurant section) and plenty of delicious food and drink options. My favorite is their fish & chips and clam chowder. We were here during the 2025 Guitar Festival. We had an early dinner. They serve prime rib for $24.95 on Saturdays, starting at 4pm. We split a bowl of steamed clams and the prime rib with baked potato. We upgraded to the clam chowder which was excellent! We split a "flourless chocolate cake" (basically a slice of serious dark chocolate fudge) with strawberries & whipped cream for desert. Everything was tasty. If I had had any room, I would have gotten another cup of chowder. The iced tea was horrible. I traded for hot tea and a glass of ice. The view is lovely. read more

The locals seem to like it! I think if you are looking for fried fish this is the place. My steak I ordered med rare was really dried out. It showed a little pink inside but truly was very dry. I think it may have been cooked at too low a temp for too long. The sear also lacked flavor. My salad that I chose as one of the sides was just ok. The homemade ranch was delicious but the lettuce had not been drainer properly so it was watery at the bottom. Chili fried as a side were definitely a generous helping but the flavors were just ok. La Conner is one of Washington's nicest destination locations. We met our relatives here and decided on the P and E. It seems to be a nice locals jaunt. As one who enjoys seafood, I opted for the Captains platter which includes pretty much everything the crawls, swims or is dug up from the ocean floor. Sans crab, which is a bummer since this area has a lot of crabbing locally. I started with a cup of clam chowder which I did find very tasty. The platter is almost all breaded and Fried food. The fish was good but as I worked my way through the oysters, clams, etc, my tastebuds were not that excited anymore. I did opt for the baked potato which is hard to ruin. It was good. The ambience is nice overlooking the waterway that connects to Anacortes bay. The wait staff is also nice. I would sum this place up as a good chowder and fish n chips locale. I wouldn't go much beyond that. Probably wouldn't return. Not because it was that bad, just because there are other places I'd like to try next time. read more

We split the patty melt with added grilled mushrooms. Very tasty but huge pet peeve with patty melts is when they use a round patty on square bread. There isn't enough meat. Should make special square pattys. The club sandwich was very good. Lightly toasted sourdough with excellent smoky bacon. Bothe trying to be healthy we got nice fresh salads instead of fries. As a retired restaurant worker of 40 years, I would hire every employee I encountered, including the owner. I had the mixed appetizer plate, and it was humongous. Every single item on the plate was delicious.. There was no tartar sauce for the fish, but it was unnecessary. It was delicious on its own. I had to take some chicken legs and jalapeño poppers home, And they were delicious cold as well. When I return next spring or summer, I will be having the exact same thing! read more

I ordered a chili dog, he ordered the fish and chips, and we wanted to split a a pub sampler as an appetizer. The chili dog was a hot dog on an open bun drenched in beans and chili. Recommended by locals and proudly aware of their "Best Fish & Chips" Award, the family and I gambled and ate at this pub, which gave off the vibe that we were eating in a 70s double-wide trailer in the backwoods that had a generator that was struggling to keep it lit. The place felt so dark inside. The outdoor seating was filled. This is a disappointment for anyone who eats in La Conner. La Conner's restaurant's best chance at success is to put the patrons outside "on the water." The food was okay. It was typical "tavern" food. No one in my party awarded him/herself with the Best Fish & Chips. Rather the nachos, popcorn shrimp, popcorn clams, and a burger made it onto our round table. No one complained. But, when considering the other choices to eat in LaConner, I would recommend going elsewhere, even if darkened "pub grub" with wood panel wall siding speaks to you. The Waterfront Bistro is the best of the lot for food and outside dining. If that rustic "tavern" feel is for you, the Brewing Company is where I recommend you go and try--even though it isn't a true "gastro," especially by its menu. read more

Awesome service and food. This place is right on the water and has a view of all the fishing boats and some nice homes in front and across the water. Very cool area to go walk around and take in the sites. I had the captain's platter and it was amazing the oysters were fresh and very big. There were four adults a toddler and a baby in our party and the waitress was very helpful and got all our orders and adjustments correct right off the bat, she also never let our drinks get empty and was so friendly (great job). We always stop. Solid 4 star place for us. It's what you should expect. A locals joint primarily with tourists passing through. Those "oldsters" referenced in other reviews are the locals and in my experience are super friendly and welcoming. We've been here probably 15-20 times over the past handful of years and it's consistently the same. We always have a few beers, some clam strips and a bowl of chowder. never disappointed. Service can get a bit slow when it's busy on a Friday or Saturday but you're in La Conner so just chill and go with it. They are always polite if you are. read more

I came here on a recommendation from another shop employee. They said they had the best fish and chips. It does say they were voted the best fish and chips in the area. The fish and chips were decent. They may be the best in the area but I haven't tried anywhere else. They weren't greasy and they were reasonably priced. But it was just bland. Even the fries were bland. Which may be nice for some people because you could just add your own salt, but I had to doctor it up with the tartar and lemon and vinegar. But the service was not great. My waitress was pretty snotty and inattentive from the beginning. There were only 2-3 tables in her section and she was not very attentive or friendly. She never came back to refill my water and she forgot to give me my card back after I paid. The best thing is that the views are nice and the prices aren't bad. read more

It was a busy Friday night at 6 pm. We were greeted promptly and we asked for a table outside and were put on a wait list that was estimated to be about 20 min. We sat at the bar to wait and look at a menu. We liked the old-time feel and the service was great. I had a Bloody Mary which was good. My husband had a glass of Chardonnay which was also good. In about 30 minutes our table was ready. All of thebtables were full but our waiter took our order right away and brought our drinks. He came back to check on us during the meal. We both ordered the surf and turf with baked potato and salad. All of it was very good. The steak was tender and the prawns were crispy and perfectly done. My friend and I came here around 1pm ish and were told it'd be a 30 minutes wait for an outdoor table. The greeter wrote down my number and said she'll call me when there's a table ready. We wandered around a bit and only 15 minutes later, got the call and rushed back to the restaurant. Got seated on their patio overlooking the water. I ended up ordering the fried oysters basket and upgraded my side to chili cheese fries for $2.50. Best decision ever! Oysters were fresh, juicy, plump and large. Perfectly fried and piping mouth-burning hot goodies! The tartar sauce tasted like it was made in-house - yum! Now the chilli cheese fries - the portion was huge considering the low price for the upgrade. Fries were perfectly crispy and fluffy. The chili sauce - divine! Every fork full felt like a step closer to heaven. And it doesn't hurt that the ice cold beer washed down everything perfectly! My friend got the popcorn shrimp basket but she ended up stealing some of my chili cheese fries though - *****! All in all, a very enjoyable meal - fairly priced. Server was patient and friendly.
