Hot chicken sandwich with soup of the day.

We rolled into this tiny town purely because Google Maps said, "Sure, why not?" and honestly... bless that algorithm. We stumbled into this spot and immediately questioned whether we'd accidentally teleported into a Pinterest-worthy dream. Super modern, warm, hip--basically the kind of place where you half-expect someone to offer you artisanal emotional support water. We sat at the bar, where you get this cheeky little peek-a-boo view straight into the kitchen. Nothing like watching sizzling food get plated to remind you that yes, you are absolutely about to eat like you haven't eaten since Thursday. Started with drinks--because obviously--and I ordered the cold brew martini. Let me tell you: that thing was a caffeinated hug laced with just enough alcohol to make me reconsider all life choices in a positive way. It was so good I ordered another. No regrets. Not even a tiny one. Then came the Brussels sprouts (S). OH. MY. GOODNESS. These sprouts were so good I briefly considered proposing to them. Perfectly crispy, perfectly seasoned, and gone in about 3.4 seconds. For mains, we grabbed the 402 burger and the hot chicken sandwich. Both were bursting with flavor without being salty enough to summon the ghost of high blood pressure. Just solid, delicious, crave-again food. Highly recommend this place. If you find yourself in the area--or just feel like picking a random town and hoping for the best--this is absolutely the spot to gamble your stomach on. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped in for lunch and a brew on a weekday. Nice inside or outside seating available. Enjoyed my smoked pulled pork sandwich (just the right amount of everything on it) and hubby liked his fish and chips (lightly battered). Unfortunately they didn't have a Porter on tap, but the oak stout was good. Friendly service too - Appreciated the advice of things to see while here. Good food with good service!

This restaurant is tucked just a few blocks away from the busier primary street, which is nice for a less busy dining environment. During the summer when we visited, there was outdoor seating available that we opted to sit, since it was pretty nice out. We weren't sure what beer to choose so the server was nice to give a sample of 4 different kinds for us to try. We were specifically intrigued by the elk burger and we also got a pineapple cider that was super easy to drink with a nice tangy flavor. We were sharing the elk burger and the kitchen went above and beyond to cut the burger and distribute everything in the dish evenly, something that I rarely see or if available, it would be extra charge, but they did it complementary. We subbed the regular fries with sweet potato fries, and it came with garlic / red pepper aioli. Im glad the aioli came on the side so I could really savor the blackberry sage jam and be able to taste what exactly what elk is. Service is good as they check up on us regularly. Water is available self-serve, which allowed me flexibility to instantly get more water without having to wait for a server to come by. Overall, I had an amazing dining experience here.

Hibachi bowl, roasted brussels sprouts, cowboy burger and fish & chips

Stopped here for lunch on Memorial weekend. Due to a sunny day with large parties, there was a bit of wait for our food. Once the food arrived, we were all happy. The brussels sprouts were very tasty with the gorgonzola crumbles, dried cranberries and balsamic glaze. Hubby enjoyed his Steak Hibachi Bowl with a mixture of sautéed veggies and peanut sauce over rice. The fish & chips were good with a generous amount of cod. The batter was a thick coating; it was crispy and held the fish together. My daughter enjoyed her cowboy burger and found the fry sauce quite tasty. They have spacious patio seating in the back, so we were able to bring our dog. Staff were friendly. There's ample seating indoors and outdoors. Firehall is off the main strip and parking was easy to find.

3.5ish stars overall. We stood at the entrance waiting to be seated and various staff looked at us but would walk by without saying anything. We finally got seated and it took a while to get our order and even get waters. The fried pickle appetizer was okay, not a re-order. The fish and chips were good but a small portion. The salmon salad I would not get because the fish was quite dry.

    Soup and salad very good

Everything was wonderful. There was a group of eleven of us, which we called ahead and let them know we were coming. It was 1 pm so we tried to beat the lunch crowd.. everything was great . The atmosphere was amazing. Our waitress was very nice . And all the food was wonderful. The presentation was very nice.

Charming Taphouse out in La Conner with a large patio and yummy food. The blackened Alaskan cod tacos ($16) were delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their food and drink as well. The staff was attentive and I loved the fall / Halloween decor.

Great food great service! We started with their Brussel sprouts that I'm sure are deep fried to a nice. Crispness and sprinkled with Gorgonzola cheese and cranberries, a perfect mix. I had the Cuban sandwich which was amazing! The pulled pork wasn't too smoky for me and just the right amount of mustard and pickles. Had the onion rings with it which were crispy and well seasoned, loved them! The roll was soft and perfect. My husband had the elk burger which was good not great, a bit dry seasoned ok. Probably wouldn't choose that again. The French fries are amazing though tough choice between those and onion rings. Friends had the Salmon bowl which is a favorite, looked fabulous, didn't try it. The ambiance is very loud. I will be back to sit outside this summer.

Such a great spot with great customer service, ambiance, & food! They have outdoor seating in the front and back, and lots inside. The Food was amazing!! I'll be dreaming of the Salmon Avocado bowl. Definitely a spot I would love to go back to.

Drove to La Conner today thanks to beautiful spring weather and decided to try out the Firehall Kitchen. Amazing food! Great outdoor area for kids and those who like cornhole. Fast and wonderful service and terrific atmosphere. We will be back. I had the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, and hubby had the Bashville Hot Chicken sandwich (very spicey but good). A definite must.

    Fried Pickle Spears, $7 – 4 Stars

It was a Saturday evening past 7pm. Sleepy La Connor was even sleepier with limited restaurants open. I found Firehall via Yelp with great ratings. The place is a remodeled firehouse/hall, hence the name. The inside is fully modern; the outside features a giant brewer (I think that's what it is.) We're not drinkers, so our focus is food only. The staff was sufficiently attentive; there is a beer garden in the back that was likely taking away the attention of our waitperson. No issue. Both the appetizers were very good; unfortunately, both our main courses were meh. Bummer... The Food: Brussels Sprouts, $10 - 4 Stars They offer a twist with the typical brussels sprouts by adding blue cheese (I think). I can't eat much cheese; hubby said it was a good mixture. Fried Pickle Spears, $7 - 4 Stars A very good version of fried pickles, lightly battered. Spears of pickles (vs. flat cuts) are my favorite form factor with a juicier pickle taste. Grilled Salmon Salad, aka Firehall Salad, $17 - 1 Stars The salmon is way, way overcooked. Murdered salmon. It was dry and needlessly dense as a result. The salad greens were good quality but way overdressed. The salad dressing pooled at the bottom of the bowl. I ended up mashing the dry and dense salmon into the excess dressing to make it edible. I hate wasting food, or I would have sent back this dish. Fish (3) and Chips, $22 - 1.5 Stars Visually, we can see the batter is old-school and thick. It was incredibly greasy. The fish is nonetheless very good - thick and juicy. The fries were a huge fail. They were all sad and limp, without any crunch. Even the fries that were not under the fish were lifeless. There are way better fish and chips than this elsewhere. Too, too much grease. Also, use a bigger container so the fish grease is not draining onto the fries. So many wrongs in the execution; it could have been better. The overall rating should be a 2.5 Star. The good appetizers are enough to round it up to a 3.

    Backdraft paloma is so good

This place is amazing! I had previously gone to La Conner Brewery and it was a bust. I had just about given up on La Conner but then i found this place. so inviting & super friendly! the fried pickle spears are a great appetizer! I started with the Backdraft Paloma and it was good! Atmosphere is amazing and super friendly people here! will definitely be back to try some more items on the menu

Cowboy burger with brussel sprouts. Delicious!

We checked out this pie-themed bar on a recent trip to La Conner, and it did not disappoint. We were craving a sweet treat after a delish dinner nearby, and this was one of the only spots open after 8pm. (If you know La Conner, you know how thrilled we were to discover this. The town pretty much shuts down at 6pm!) We grabbed a table by the window, ordered a giganto piece of coconut cream pie to share (and an equally generous slice of chocolate bourbon pecan to take back to the RV for breakfast the next day). Both were delish, but if we had to choose again the coconut cream pie was the best of the two. They also offer savory pies here, so let's just say we'll be stopping in again soon! I noticed they have a beautiful outdoor patio as well, so I can easily see myself sitting out there with a slice of chicken pie and a cocktail on a breezy summer afternoon.

For starters, we ordered the artisan bread, a dozen oysters, and the beet salad. As someone who bakes and sells my own artisan sourdough, I was underwhelmed by the bread. I liked the touch of truffle they add to it but it needed salt. And it also needed to be on the table well before the 35 minutes we waited for it. The oysters were also not very memorable. I can't remember what one of the varieties was, but they were brinier than I care for but that's just a personal preference. The kumamotos were the TINIEST oysters I've ever seen. I've eaten my share of kumamotos and I know Japanese oysters are generally smaller and sweeter than other varieties (which is why they're my favorite) , but I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the size of quarter. I also didn't like the frozen mignonette they served as an accoutrement. It didn't seem frozen--it spread like jam. It didn't really taste like vinegar or shallot like mignonette should. It was just not very good. The beet salad was EXCELLENT. The chèvre was generous, the bitter micro greens tasted great with the beets and chèvre. It was well seasoned. We devoured it. For entrees, I had the dayboat scallops and my husband had the duck leg. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the leek risotto was very tasty. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do with the pickled lemon on my plate. I tried to eat a small piece with the other elements and it was so overpowering that I left the rest on my plate. Now let's talk about the protein--my $52 scallop dish came with THREE scallops. Not even whole scallops as I'm pretty sure they were cut in half to cook more evenly. Three small 1/2 scallops and two cubes of pork belly. For Fifty-two dollars. My husband enjoyed the duck, but again, the portions were disappointing. $230 later, we ended up going through a drive through because we were still hungry. Unlikely we'd return after such an expensive meal left us so unsatisfied.

The entrance is delightfully well-done, and our faces lit up when we walked into the bar - intricately detailed and authentic enough that a '20s dress code could be reasonably enforced. We were seated immediately, and the cadence of service was immaculate: our appetizer came out just after our drinks, and the entrees appeared as we were taking the last bites of the appetizer. But I wasn't thrilled with my selections. The Rum Punch was served at room temperature and the jalapeño popper chicken sandwich was drier than the description suggested. My partner got the Jalisco Fizz, which she says paired well with the mushroom pasta, and really enjoyed the salmon deviled eggs. At $11-14, the drinks are priced well, but the food is overpriced. The jalapeño chicken sandwich was not a $23 sandwich, and a tempting lobster/shrimp roll was listed at $35. Overall Speakeasy Saloon is worth making an evening of. Dress up and sip on whiskey drinks in the low light with loved ones.
