I really try not to let a few bad reviews sway me from trying an establishment, but I have to echo what a few of them before me have said: the service/personality is severely lacking here. For what feels like no apparent reason. The bartender slinging beers--truly seemed annoyed and miserable with his life. And then the woman taking food orders? Also acted very inconvenienced. It was just kind of unsettling and unwelcoming. And then there's the part about the unexplained wait time for our food order. My sister ordered after us and received her brisket nachos in what felt like a timely manner. 10-15-20 minutes went by before we finally inquired about the wait of our brisket poutine. The same lady who took our order just matter-of-factly told us, "it's still being worked on," before another employee came to offer more of an explanation, stating that their ticket system had failed and missed some orders. At that point, we just wanted to cancel the order altogether and get on our way, but we were assured that it was being prepared. So then we opted to take it to go. Overall, what a wildly disappointing dining experience. Our to-go poutine had 3 whole cheese curds (had to pay for extra) and brisket that looked like dog kibble. I hate to dog on establishments, but this is one I really cannot recommend. read more

This place deserves ALL THE STARS! It doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, we were on our way to La Conner when we happened to pass this place and I decided to look it up. I saw they had BBQ, and the reviews seemed to rave about it, so we flung a U-ie and came here. IM SO GLAD WE DID. You walk in and order your food at the counter, then head next door (still inside the same building) to grab your beer. Tons of seating both inside and out. **St Louis ribs are only sold on Saturdays** FYI We got a flight of ciders and beers, and for food we got BBQ nachos, ribs, and I think my husband got a burger. My husband said his burger was good, BUT THESE RIBS, YALL. They stole the show. They were honestly the best ribs I've EVER had! So tender, and the dry rub was amazing. I highly suggest getting them dry and getting the BBQ sauce on the side. That way you can taste how good they really are before being drenched in their delicious BBQ sauce. As for the beers, I wanted to give a shout out to their Coconut Stout. I've had many coconut stouts that I want to be good, and they all fall flat. But this has been my favorite coconut stout of all time! You could taste the full flavor profile of the toasted coconut! It was incredible! I give this place a 10/10! This is an underrated brewery for sure, and a great find should you come across it! It's kinda out of the way and not near much of anything, and I see why it's easy to pass up in passing. I was here for a work trip in April and passed by this establishment several times before we decided to check it out, lol our loss. I unfortunately stumbled across this establishment during our very last night in the city, and what a true bummer for sure. My colleague tried their wings, which was so good that they got a second order. I tried their BOMB Smoked Brisket Dip Sandwich with a beer flight (lol cause my indecisive self wanted to try it all). Of the flight I was sold on the "I Know the Owner Coconut Stout" beer. Lawd, lol what a treat! So bomb that I asked for it in a growler to take back with me to San Diego (as seen in the picture) . The staff wasn't sure it would make it back to SD as I requested lots of tape to secure around the top to put into my checked bag, but guess what Team?! It made it!! And was as deliciously enjoyed as my two pints from the bar the night before I left. Thank you guys for the assist with my crazy request, but now know that you guys can now market to your short term visitors . We ordered a kid's mac 'n cheese for our toddlers and it literally took 50 minutes to serve us. (Granted, they said they were under-staffed) but it was the absolute worst mac 'n cheese I've ever see and tasted; the cheese wasn't even melted and the pasta was cold. Our girls wouldn't eat a bite and they love mac 'n cheese. read more

We decided to get some food to go on our way to Whidbey Island. I have had good stuff from Bastion. This time not so much. I ordered the Brisket Dip. The Mrs ordered the southwest bowl with smoked chicken. My sandwich was terrible. I didn't even finish the first half. The brisket slices had so much fat it was hanging out the side of the bread. Biting into it was like biting into chewy rubber. They didn't trim anything. I know that can be time consuming but serving slices riddled in fat is a non starter for me. I know brisket is a fatty cut and I have experience cooking them. Paying $17 plus an up charge for cheese and mushrooms is a rip off if the meat is so fatty it is inedible. With a to go order one would think they would include some disposable utensils and napkins...negative Ghostrider. We had to turn around and go back for them. Big miss for Bastion on this visit. They can do better and have in the past. It'll be awhile before I go back. read more

Very convenient location, with some outdoor seating options. We had a large group and ordered lots of different menu options. Word to the wise: the Poutine with brisket is absolutely huge! So glad we stopped at this place before jumping on the ferry at Anacortes. It looks a little dank from the outside given that it's behind a gas station so don't be afraid. Once we got inside - it was open, tons of space - one side you order food and then find a seat inside or outside (that is preferred given the views) and on the other side is the brewery where you can get awesome flights. Plenty of room for big groups as well. We got there as they opened so no burnt ends ready as they had just started BBQing for the day. The onion rings were AMAZING! I try them everywhere I got and typically nothing stands out, but these were delicious and onpoint - light batter and yummy dipping choices including gravy for your rings or fries. The burger was very good too and the only thing I would have folks steer away from is the Banh Mi. #1 I should have known not to get that here - this is a BBQ place not an Asian place. The veggies weren't pickled and honestly the chicken had zero flavor. All in all still rating this place 4 stars since it has good options for beers (tried 3 IPA - and all decent, not fantastic, but good enough), great scenery, and ok food. The restaurant and the brewery are separate. Well, you need to order your beers at one counter (in the brewery) and your food at the other (in the restaurant). But you can run a tab across both the restaurant and the brewery! Got it? Okay, once you've got that figured out, the place is actually quite nice. There was a large group of us (10!), on a Saturday no less, and they had a table that could accommodate all of us. No sweat! Two of us arrived ahead of the rest of the gang. My friend and I both ordered Winter Ales (at the brewery, right?), and they were quite tasty. Then I ordered the Cajun Bowl, and she the "Just a Burger" (at the restaurant, right?). My friend devoured the burger in seconds and said it was delicious. It probably was, but she had just run 50K (yes, really), and probably would have said chopped wood was tasty. But the Cajun Bowl I got was amazing (and I hadn't run 50K). Fresh ingredients, meat and rice cooked just right, and a sauce that was both tasty and super spicy. Generally, spice in the PNW means that a jalapeño might have touched one of the ingredients on the way from the farm. Not this. The bowl really was spicy. And I loved it! If you like spice, get it! Eat at Bastion Brewery after a windy day of golf. I ordered the smoked brisket dip and fries and a Sky Pig IPA. The Ipa was a light color and easy to drink, If I didn't have to drive to Tacoma, I would have a few more. The brisket was perfectly smoked, with Carmalized Onions, and I think it was BBQ Au jus. That was a surprise and delicious. The next time in Anacortes, I will be having a full dinner there. I highly recommend visiting there. You can't go wrong read more

We trusted and got a disgusting meal without part of the burger ingredients. The potatoes were burnt and oily. Why does the manager not control the quality of food? The wait staff are friendly and seem to be happy to be here. Ok this is our third dining experience here. Like the place and staff is amazing. Our food this time, not so great. You can see the burger is way over done and dry. Looking forward to trying a burger here and we were very disappointed. The fries were cold, the waitress immediately brought new ones that were hot, salty and amazing. My Cobb salad's lettuce, bacon, olives, and tomatoes were great; the raw onion on it was awful. There was half an onion in there, who likes that much raw onion ever? I recommend ordering without the onion and my mistake, I should have done that. The smoked chicken this time was extremely over done, so dry it was inedible. I'm not sure what happened, last time if was lightly Smokey and tender. Way beyond my expectations for tasty tender barbecue in Washington state! I walked up to the counter and ordered a pulled pork sandwich sided with fantastic steak fries. When delivered to the table, there were 3 different sauces to choose from however, in my opinion pulled pork should be saturated with mustard and vinegar and this took me back to memories of screened porch barbecue in Georgia. Only thing missing was the loaves of Wonder bread! As she consumed her warmed up leftovers on day 2, my wife informed me that her bacon cheeseburger was the best burger she has ever had. I also enjoyed a pint of delicious amber brew (her beverage was a tasty blonde) that combined with our meals, I believe we have discovered a place we can return to again and again to consume some fantastic food and enjoy some genuine down home friendly service. read more

We are new to the area (camping at the State Park) and TBH this place is a real gem in what seems like the middle of nowhere. If we were staying longer (or come again) I will be coming here for food as well as beer. The food selection looks amazing, and the place was packed! The beer selection was great, and we loved the atmosphere of the brewery. We had a few different IPAs, and a flight that included a wide variety. I was not a fan of a few of the beers, but the Raspberry Wheat was DELICIOUS! The only downside was that we forgot our growler in the trailer! 5 stars all around! read more

Quite a few beers, leaning heavily to IPAs. Lemon basil cider was super good. Pickle tray was empty and the lady went to refill it but they got slammed. The bar area with the TVs is noisy (game night) so if you want it a little quieter there's tables where you order the food. Stopped by after a climbing session at Mt Erie. We got the 2 meat and 3 meat bbq plates with an extra serving of sweet potato fries and it was more than enough for 4 people. The pulled pork was delicious, the brisket was a bit dry, and the onion rings and fries were solid and abundant. We were told the wait time was 40 min but food came out after 25 which was a plus. The Beer is fantastic! They have great IPA and the Raspberry Wheat was exactly what my partner was looking for after a long hike! Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. It came quickly after we ordered which was appreciated but it was cold. We order the chicken bacon melt and while the cheese was melted and the bread was toasted the only thing that was relatively warm on the plate was the sweet potato fries which were really good btw! I feel like if you order a melt the sandwich should be at least warm if not hot and fresh but just my opinion! My partner's Mac n cheese bowl was cold and wasn't very fresh tasting. It lacked sauce and the jalapeños, while a great addition, completely overpowered everything else. This is a brewery and the beer is fantastic! No complaints there. We left with growlers and will be back to fill them up. Will not be returning for food however. read more
