This place has so much potential, but doesn't quite fulfill that potential. For the positives, it's in a great location and has a spacious interior with two stories. The beer is also very good. However, where it falls short is the food and overall experience. The pretzels were very tough and the salad tasted store bought. However, the wings were good so that is a positive. The other downside is the overall experience. You cannot touch any of the merchandise without employee assistance, yet the employees won't deliver your food to you and you're expected to bus your own table - similar to a fast food restaurant. Yet you're asked to tip when ordering your food and the average tip percentage is 20% (which is what I tipped before knowing I'd be doing all the work). This place has so much potential with the location, good beers, and good wings. So for now, it's a great place to grab a beer but there are better places out there for everything else. What normally would be two stars from me is now three given the challenging economic environment all breweries are going through these days. read more

District has the "honor" of being the second closest brewery my house, but is easier to walk to - which I often do on warm summer days! Their outdoor seating is perfect for relaxing in the sunshine along the Riverwalk, especially when there's an event or concert going on along this popular downtown MV gathering space. And when the weather turns cold, they have plenty of indoor seating, including a semi-hidden large upstairs seating area where, on more than one occasion, I've been known to plug in the ol' work laptop for an hour or two to borrow their electricity when the power's out at my place on a winter day. My fave beer here is the Jurassic Amber, though if you're looking for more of a session beer their Buzz Light Beer is a solid choice. And yes, they have pitchers so bring a friend (or two). The food here is legendary in local circles, including their amazing wings (available bone-in or boneless) with at least a dozen sauce choices. And, of course, the star of the show is their epic pizzas. Their cheese-imbibed crust is magical. Reminds me of the og Goat Mountain Pizza up in the Ham back in the day. And their toppings are innovative, too. My fave is the Godfather, but really they're all good. They have an interesting variety of pizzas that taste very good, they also have a nacho plate that is fabulous. No one was helpful and when someone actually acknowledged you, they were very rude. It was kind of weird, like everyone who worked there was miserable. Wings were good, nice and crispy. Pizza was OK. I like that there's crispy cheese on the crust, but The actual amount of toppings was not impressive. It was just drenched in hot honey. I've been here twice now. I was in Mt Vernon wasting time until I had to go to a Dr. appointment and decided to have lunch. I had no destination in mind, so I just parked in the public parking lot then walked out of the lot to see what was available. My eyes stopped on a sign that said "pizza". I love pizza. The outside looked like it was decorated in an industrial theme, but when I entered the building there was a lot of wood everywhere. I got there very early in the lunch hour and there were only a few customers present. I walked to the counter and exchanged pleasantries with the young lady behind the counter then made my selection for lunch. I chose a small October Sky pizza and a fountain drink. I chose the October Sky pizza because it had sliced steak and jalapenos on it. There were more ingredients, but I forget what they were and I forgot to photograph the menu . I was handed a buzzer to let me know when my order was ready and I decided to tour the restaurant. District Brewing has two floors! The main floor has the ordering counter and seating area, the upper floor has a couple pinball machines, a couple claw games, and a foosball game. There is also more seating and you can look down on the main floor. My buzzer went off and I retrieved my pizza, got my drink and enjoyed my lunch. The pizza is a pan-style pizza with a thick crust that has a thin layer of cooked cheese on the bottom! First time I've experienced that! The crust is nice and chewy and the toppings are very tasty and don't slide around when you bite in to it. My pizza was cut into four pieces and I could comfortably eat only 2 of them. So I got a carry out box and took the other two slices home for later. I really enjoyed my visit to District Brewing and look forward to visiting again! read more

We met another couple for beers and dinner at District Brewing. Free parking can be found in the surrounding area. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Tabs left overnight will be charged a 20% gratuity. Table service is not offered; all orders, payment and pick-ups are resolved at the counter. Outdoor seating is offered in the front of the restaurant. Wine and hard tea is available for those who do not care for beer. Daily specials are offered Monday-Thursday. During our visit, District Brewing was busy with couples, friends and families. Expect to stand in line during busy hours. I had a couple Action Hero IPA (16oz) for $6.50. My wife had a couple Jurassic Amber (16oz) for $6.50. My wife ordered bone-in (qty 9) Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings for $16.50. I ordered the Caprese Salad for $8. We came here for my son's birthday as he and his family love this place. We ordered several pizzas, some wings, and a pitcher of cider. Wings were spicy and good. The others loved their pizzas loaded with toppings. The cheese pizza though was tasteless. I never met a pizza I didn't like, until that one. An earlier reviewer said it tasted like cheese bread and that is so true. And not even a good cheese bread. Just a boring dry totally flavorless one. Was there even sauce on it? Came for the pizza and glad we did! Wood fired, crispy edges, square shaped, and a good amount of toppings. The pizza is a good size for an individual or you can order the larger one and it's perfect for 2. We got the Top Gun pizza (because the movie is rad) plus it's like an all meat pizza and the Mama Mia which was a white sauce pizza with prosciutto, artichoke, and mozzarella. Only downside was we wanted to substitute one of the veggies for a different veggie but they wanted to charge us which I thought was a little lame. There is a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. It's right next to the river and has some good views from the upstairs of the water. We went on trivia night on accident so it was pretty busy and loud but glad there was a good turnout. This is a great, easy place to grabe some food and drinks with a small or large group. Beautiful views of the river. I liked the pizza a lot, it's not floppy NYC pizza it's like pan style with a crispy cheesy edge. The Caesar was great (had bacon in it). Great selection of beers and ciders, even a hard kombucha. It's dog friendly on the patio. There's not any table service here, so if you order a few pizzas and salads be ready to make a couple trips back and forth to your table. I found it a little annoying to go in and out of the door, past the line at the register and back out with full hands. But, that's the vibe here. read more

I stopped into District for lunch after visiting a friend in Mt Vernon and was pleased I did. They're located right along the river walk with a nice outdoor patio that provides great people (and dog :) watching. There's no direct view of the river from the patio, but if you're not drinking beer you could take your pizza across the plaza and snag a public table that has one. In strict pizza terms, it was quite good but not incredible. The strongest point is definitely the ring of burnt cheese around the crust. Just delicious. The crust and sauce were a little on the plain side, but overall my pizza craving was definitely fulfilled and my belly was satisfied. The beer was crisp and refreshing in the summer heat (I had the Mexican lager). Their wings also feature heavily on the menu, and looked really tasty, although I didn't try them. Nice choice. The restaurant is next to the river and the upstairs seating has lovely views. It's warm and lively without being too noisy. They could benefit from a good sound system and some cool music. I could faintly hear something but not much at all. The overall vibe is family. It works for young and old and in between. There are some arcade games in the upstairs corner and it's a good hangout for all. We had the chicken sandwich special and a caprese. I was impressed that in the middle of January their caprese was fresh and full of flavor. The Cook obviously paid attention and selected the best tomato slices and the freshest best looking basil. It was tasty and just perfect. The chicken sandwich, and Caesar salad were just what my husband wanted. I thought the Caesar was a little bit watery but hey, it's January. It was clearly toxic and drama involved which affected employees attitudes (ladies). You didn't need to be a rocket scientist to see or feel it. Cleanliness? Eh. The girl who thinks she runs the show or maybe she does run the show but really shouldn't be in charge was just wiping food off tables straight on to the floor forcing the cashier/beer tender to clean it up. Messy. Toxic. Dramatic. Misc: People take their kids there. There's arcade games among other entertainment upstairs. They have merch but it's limited and signs to ask staff to assist 100% impacts anyone from wanting to buy. But it's clear the pizza and booze is their money maker so I'm guessing their merch display is just a smoke show. In 3 times I went there never saw anyone buying merch or even looking past the sign. Tried to go here on a Sunday and the place was shut down due to an event. However, all platforms online allowed you to order food? Again messy. Located in Mount Vernon by the riverfront, this place had so much going for it. coming in, the place was packed, but we were able to grab a bunch of tables on the upper mezzanine level. decided to order some pizza and salads. It looks like pizzas are all the same costs up to three toppings. Of course the kids wanted cheese and that comes down to $25.50 (+WSST) for a mega cheese which is 8 slices! Onto the food: 1) Tommy Boy (cheese pizza for $25.50): man, this was ok. $26 for a cheese pizza better be poppin! Was not impressed with it. Likely better with toppings, but for kids they like the cheese za and no way would I ever pay $26 again for this. 2) District greens salad. was ok, basically iceberg with some shaved carrots, cucumbers, cheese and dressing. Two of the orders we added the chicken which was decent. For $6 (salad no protein) I had hoped we had better mix of greens other than bland iceberg lettuce. 3) Root beer was good. The best part of the meal I guess. It took us about 1.5 hours to get (1ea) pizza and (3ea) small salads. We asked if the salads could come out first since we were with a group and was told everything had to come out together. When we also placed our order we had two pizzas ordered. One cheese, one peperoni and olive. The person taking the order repeated the order and we placed it. When the order finnnally buzzed for pick up (1.5 hours later) we were missing the pepperoni and olive pizza was it turns out she did not ring the order. We were offered to have it made, but did not have another 1.5 hours to wait for a small pizza. I am sure the other pizza with toppings is great (we would not know since we never got one), but we would only be back if we had 4-5 hours to kill waiting for pizza. read more

This was my first time here so I was excited to try the food and beer. They had a great selection of beers so nearly everyone will a taste for beer will find something appealingly. It's family friendly with families coming and almost all heading to the second level the time I was here. I ordered a hazy and the Field of Dream pizza. I am an equal opportunity pizza eater and it doesn't matter if it is thin, deep dish, American style. They all have a place in my food hall of fame. District focuses on deep dish. It was good, right size for a single person but it isn't something that I would seek out and struggle to find parking to have! The beer - absolutely worth it. Pizza no. We came on a Sunday afternoon for a lunch date after dropping the kid off at a nearby birthday party. It wasn't too busy and seating was easy to come by making it a stress free experience. I take it back, carrying food upstairs and worried I would biff it and drop the food was a teeny bit stressful, but you can sit downstairs near the food for a truly stress free experience. There is also outside seating but it was cold and windy. The brews - I am useless here since I don't drink beer. My husband got me a cider that was okay and I let him keep. I ordered the Bellingham POG cider which I liked much better. Food - We wanted a large pizza, half Goodfellas (white sauce) half Italian Job (red sauce) pizza, which could be done but you would be paying for two separate smalls ($16.50 each). Instead we just got a Large Goodfellas (large is $26.50). When we got the large pizza, it seemed to be just two smalls side by side. You essentially get a discount if you want one flavor/choice? Anyway, the white pizza was okay. Very rich and savory, each bite no doubt 500 calories, but YOLO! End of meal, you bus your own table. There was a small group next to us that didn't bus their table (large booth) and large groups came up wanting to sit there and ended up having to sit elsewhere, so please be considerate and bus your tables for others to enjoy!
