So this is the second time I've been here - first for beer, second for pizza, and I feel like I've enough to write a review...because both were great. The beer I had the first time was delicious, and more complex than I was expecting. I don't remember much except that I wanted another but was told we had to get moving. Alas, I do not remember the name of it either, but I just know the beer was good. The pizza looked small (ok so my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach) but I realized the District size is perfect. We got the Casablanca and the DeLorean (with red sauce) and split them, and stuck with water because it was pre-5pm. Both pizzas were so different but so good, but it's the crust that really makes it stand out. The slightly burned, crispy cheese truly makes the pizza special. It's thicker, reminiscent of Sicilian style, but not trying to be anything but awesome pizza. Most places try to be "X style" or "Y style" and they (sadly) fall short. District is just good pizza, and I'm excited that they are in such a nice space. I think my only criticism is that they could probably have left it in the oven a minute longer, but I also love a burned bottom. Service was fine, parking was a little tight for a weekday, but overall it's not enough to make me want to skip it. It might be a liiiiiiiiiiittle spendy (those two were $35 with tax) but we sat in the sun, I took my dog, and we weren't rushed out. I will be back to try more of the libations, and definitely for that cheese crust. read more

I decided to go find a place I have never been before and found District Brewing. I thought it was going to be something different...I was surprised. It is more of a youthful hang out pub that serves some decent pizza and appetizers. Staff is young and with that come a little attention disorders to things but nothing that causes a bad or negative experience. Good beer, and appetizer was good. I will try the pizza next time. If you are into the younger twenty something pizza and beer, it is a great spot on the river and sports on the tv. If your looking for something a little more fancy, it might not be your spot. All in all, worth a second visit to learn more. read more

A relatively new brewery (at least over the past year or so) that has arrived in downtown Mount Vernon. The entrance faces the river walk area which makes this location fantastic. The inside is slick and clean...relatively. They may need more staff to maintain the tables after customers leave but we were waiting a very little amount of time so that was good... it was a Saturday too! There is an upstairs you can go up and enjoy your drinks and meal and get a good view of the brewing facility on the right and to the left a view of the river and walk. The beer wasn't bad. I didn't find it terribly memorable but the Jurassic Amber that I ordered was refreshing enough...it just didn't stand out to me in any way. The thing I was most impressed with was the location. I don't know if owner noticed that it gets really busy here on Thursdays when there is music in the plaza. Waiting in line fifteen minutes for a beer when I want to be outside drinking a beer is not a good time. Go back to having a beer only line or help the next customer during transactions. You are missing a lot of sales as people go elsewhere rather than wait. On the plus side, the beer is really good. read more

Well I should have checked here before stopping in (guess I should have tried the pizza!) Came in after a walk and it was a great spot to warm up and grab a beer and snack. The beer selections were adequate and I found a nice amber to try. There was plenty of seating but I could see things getting crowded on a weekend. I enjoyed the pretzel bites and my companions enjoyed the chicken wings. The pretzels aren't a huge portion so would be tough to share between more than two people unless you get something else. There us quite a bit of parking around and the location near the walk path is ideal! read more

Went here based on Yelp reviews. I think places like this revitalize Mt Vernon. Definitely coming back to explore. The pizza is pan and crust is great. Holds the topping while being soft to bite through with a little crunch. Very well done. The full box is filling for being 8 slices The wings were cooked perfectly!! We tried a few sauce but loved the Sriracha honey. I even put it on my pizza....I know....weirdo!! Hubby like the beers. Ample parking and very spacious inside. You order at counter and get you food. Let's talk about pickle pizza. You read that right. Pickle. Pizza. It was amazing. I didn't know what to expect, but I LOVE when restaurants have something so different, and I must try it. I loved the white sauce, and the pepperoni, pickles and ranch were the perfect combo. We ordered for football/pizza Sunday and because we were visiting family in a different town, we needed a new spot to try! A 4 slice pizza will run you about $10 and an 8 slice is $17/$18. I feel like it's a tad over priced, but the slices are decently (square) sized, and because they are pan, all the edges have nice crispy cheese! We got 5 pizzas for 5 people(1 small, 4 big... pizzas, not people. All people were not of the child variety). We all ate a good amount and had almost two pizzas worth left over. We got the Tombstone, Tommy Boy, Top Gun, Blue Hawaii and The American Pickle. The blue Hawaii was the only one I felt was lacking flavor. Everything else was really good! We ordered pick up, and they weren't ready at the time we requested, so we waited about 20 minutes on a bench by the river for them to call us, which wasn't a big deal. I love the restaurant, and the theme. They are an old movie theater so the pizzas named after movies is brilliant and I couldn't love it more. We will for sure be back! read more

At first I thought it might not be enough food, but it was the ideal size to fill two of us! It was cooked to a nice golden brown. The toppings tasted nice and fresh too. Found this place after walking around downtown Mt Vernon. It has a nice location on a plaza next to the Skagit River. We sat outside. Orders are taken inside, seems like the point of sale system might no be ideal, it was not the quickest to place an order. We ordered two ciders (not District Brewing brews) and we decided to share the nachos with chicken. The beverages were good - Bellingham Cider POG. The nachos were okay, but not the best. They were made with two kinds of chips, jalapenos, chicken, and cheese sauce. This was a formidable pan of nachos, but the cheese sauce really didn't work so well. It seemed to be applied to the round tortilla chips (which made them all soft and soggy), the triangular chips were better, but the sauce just was not what I expect with restaurant prepared nachos. I might try District again, but I won't be having the nachos again. read more

Very cool brewery on the river front / walk area of Mt. Vernon. Dog friendly patio outside is completely unprotected so if it is a sunny day be careful. Super long beer list and the service was super friendly. The girl offerred me tasters of a few I was unsure about. Decided on a the District Juice Almighty Hazy IPA 6.9% which had a delicous refreshing taste and not too hoppy. I am not a fan of a beer that is too hoppy. I know, I know, IPAs are usually hoppy. Friendly vibes and loads of yummy food coming up at the food counter. I noticed once you get your beer it all is self serve. People were grabbing their own food orders from the counter. Having just eaten lunch elsewhere I was only having a beer here. But, the pizzas looked really good! Reminscent of a brick pizza spot I was visited once upon a time in San Francisco. Sort of wished I hadn't filled my belly with a burger earlier, lol. Next visit, pizza is happening! They also offer a few ciders, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Solid spot to stop at. Stopped in for the first time to try the pizza and beer. I had the top gun pizza and a Helles Lager. Both the beer and pizza were very good. The service was very fast and friendly. This will be one of my favorite places to stop by good food and drink. I liked that you can see right into the brewery. read more

The girls at the front helped me choose a flight for my husband and I. It was our first time here so we didn't know what to get. I just described what both of us like and they customized 2 flights for each of us. They were very friendly and helpful. The prices of the food were a bit higher than I'd expect especially for simple dishes like pretzels and wings. But the wings were actually pretty good. Better than I'd expect for a brewery. The beers we tried were all good. I got a few ciders and light beers and my husband got mostly IPA's. We liked all of the ones we got. They had outdoor seating so we could have our dog with us. There's plenty of space outside so even when there was other families with dogs we still had enough room to keep them separated. I would definitely come back again but just for the drinks and probably skip on the food next time. read more

Great find! Pretty decent pan pizza, with an amazing crunchy grilled cheese border, daughter loved it. The pizza base seemed pre-made, but it was quite decent overall. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have been in Washington for 3 Days. This was the most expensive and the grossest meal I have had since I have been here. Not to mention the only thing they sell, pizza and wings are less than average. The pizza ordinary, and the wings were chewy soft. For 17$ I got 8 wings and had to do all work on my own. Order, get food, clean up, get beer, get water, and....... They want a tip... here's a tip, instead of having 4 girls gossiping at the front while orders and food are being made, have them understand their own menu, which they could barely answer questions about and help out customers. What a joke of an establishment. The only redeeming quality is the outdoors which they have nothing to do with. read more

It's a brewery, and the beer is good. Very good. Second, not a fan of thicker crust pizza..... That being said, I'm a convert. Holy cow the crust is incredible. The way they make it is incredible. Pepperoni tastes fresh and just the right amount of spice. Cheese is fresh tasting and plentiful. We visited District Brewing yesterday, and were pleasantly surprised! I must admit, we didn't try any of their beers. My two dining companions are wine enthusiasts, so they were out already. And I don't have a taste for IPAs, which seemed to dominate the menu. But they did offer pints of Founders KBS (bourbon-barrel aged stout)! Any time I see a Founders stout on the menu, that's the obvious choice. If you haven't had this coffee and chocolate flavored stout, you're missing out. We ate outside to reduce possible COVID-19 exposure. They seem to have a really solid approach to safety in this regard, except one of their male employees was walking around cleaning tables and setting up napkin dispensers with a mask pulled down below his nose. Really? Read a scientific article, please. A mask that isn't covering both the nose and mouth isn't effective. Anyway, on to the food. We had the Goodfellas pizza - white sauce, prosciutto, pepperoni, arugula, mushrooms and goat cheese. It was excellent! The crust was really good, kind of a Detroit-style deep dish pizza. Everyone enjoyed it. We also ordered the Porter Beer Cheese dip with tortilla chips. I'm not exactly certain, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that those tortilla chips were Tostitos Rounds. The cheese dip was good, but as an appetizer, it wasn't too impressive. But overall, the experience was a good one. I loved the beer selection; the distanced, outside dining; and the amazing pizza. This place is in such a great setting on the Skagit River and perfect for a warm summer day! They have extensive indoor and outdoor seating but we opted for outdoor since it was so nice. Their selections of beer were great for a sour beer lover like myself, and the bartender was nice enough to let me sample all 3 of them before picking one. The pizzas are unique in that the entire crust is layered with crispy baked cheese, which tasted amazing! I do wish they provided more cheese and toppings on the pizzas themselves - the dough is thick enough (think as thick as deep dish) that it kind of took over the flavours of the pizzas. The wings were so so - we got the mango habanero but didn't find they packed enough heat for our liking and the texture wasn't crispy enough. Our first time at the District. We couldn't be happier. It's set on the river walk in old Mount Vernon with views of the Skagit River through the west facing windows. This is a place where you walk in, order, get your pager, and find a seat. Your pager goes off and you go get your grub. They have pizza aplenty. Lots to choose from. It comes rectangular with a crispy cheesy crust. Very good stuff. I'm not a beer drinker so I don't know anything other that they do their own stuff with ciders and beer.
