We visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening and had 2 sets of Sunset special menu: veal Marsala and ravioli of the day (beef). The ravioli is okay. A little bit too salty to my taste. The veal Marsala have no taste or aroma of Marsala at all. This is one of our favorite dishes and we have not had this kind of experience anywhere else. To be honest, we could call "veal with sauce" rather than "veal Marsala". This is the reason I put which day we visited. Because I know some restaurants have different chef on specific days. The veal could be more tender. The inside is very nice though and it would be a good place for a date, etc. The service is also excellence. Just the food that is below expectations. None of the desserts in the menu is made in house, according to the answers from our waiter. Plenty of parking space in the parking lot. Convenience!

This has been one of my go to restaurants for a really long time. They always serve authentic Italian recipes cooked to perfection. Every server we've ever had has been really knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. If you want a really good date night vibe, you can book one of the more private rooms they have as well.

Ver cute restaurant. They have 3 rooms, one very large, one medium (seats about 30) and a small (seats 18). We were in the small room which feels almost like a private room. Extensive menu which included "sunset specials". Sunset specials included bruschetta and dessert. I had the veal parmigiana and the wife mushroom fettuccine. Everything was very good, very tasty and not salty. The panacotta for dessert was divine. Good food, great service, cozy setting. Nice place for an Italian dinner out.

    Spaghetti Carbonara

This is our second time to this restaurant. Both times we have been seated swiftly, the service is exceptional and the food is great. I was hesitant to try the French onion soup, because I have had one too many in the past that made me regret it - but this restaurant has restored my optimism! It was phenomenal. We had the French onion soup, spaghetti carbonara and the special, which was a steak with risotto. The portions are large, the taste is wonderful, and served hot. It was so good the first time, we came back today to enjoy again. The building is cute, I like the layout inside. There are a couple different rooms that you could to be placed in, and all are cozy and esthetically pleasing. The building has an older charm to it, and lighting is dimmer for a more intimate setting. Javier did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable and checked in on us frequently, but not overbearing. Drinks were good, and he brought out refills promptly. He offered to box our food for us and promoted the dessert menu, which my fiancé loves a good tiramisu, so we got that for take home. This is our new favorite night out spot. Great food, great atmosphere, and great staff!

First time at IL GRANAIO. I liked the old building and the rustic look of the place. They have a few dining rooms. I think we were in the main. The smells coming from the kitchen were inviting. There were four of us for dinner. The two servers working the room were busy and as a result some aspects of service lacked. As an example there were inordinately long intervals between services. I had to get up and go find appetizer plates because our server was absent after asking for plates. The water situation was dismal as well but we were able to get refilled one time toward the end. The service wasn't exactly bad but just slower paced I guess. The menu was packed with Italian goodness. Lots to choose from in every variety. I ordered their filet mignon braised in red wine and on a bed of pasta with some brown mushroom sauce topped with Gorgonzola. Cooked perfectly. I couldn't eat it all. I also ordered spaghetti and meatballs to share around the table but it was mostly me picking on that. I wasn't impressed with the antipasto appetizer. It was just cold cuts and cheese with some mushroom and peppers. I've had more creative antipasto plates. Mrs Billy D had her go to Pollo Parmigiana which she could not finish. We ordered more food than we needed. Two appetizers and an extra entree but it was worth it. I haven't had a restaurant filet cooked like that in a long time. I would go get that again. There's a few versions of the filet. You cannot go wrong. There were four of us and even with the extra grub and one cocktail the bill came to $300 ish including the tip.

    Cannolis

The entire experience was wonderful, we can't wait to go back! The ambiance was very inviting and comfortable. Kat was our server, she took great care of us and was extremely friendly. The top items that stood out were the bread that's served complimentary, tomato soup (bread dipped in the soup was extra delicious) and the cannolis. I can't stop thinking about how amazing these all were, best I've ever had! Our server shared how busy they had been with a festival going on and being Easter weekend and yet the food & service were still top notch. Thank you for the marvelous experience and making our Easter dinner so special.

We have eaten all across Western WA with many disappointing recommendations but this one blew us away. First things first. Make a reservation. There is almost always a wait and cant imagine how long it would be without one. Great small place with an electric vibe as soon as you walk in. It has that homey chaotic feel as it is a smaller place, very busy but still very inviting. We were met by Papa who is hilarious and just sets the tone for the experience here. All of the staff are very engaging and have wonderful personalities as well as are very proficient in their positions. This place is very much dinner and a show. It was great just watching the mechanics of how everyone worked together and interacted with each other as well as customers. We sat at the bar and I ordered a drink while my wife ordered a handmade lemonade. (she does not like the sugary ones from the gun so the bartender made her one from scratch-she loved it). There are 2 menus, the traditional menu and the specials board. We were served homemade bread with oil and balsamic and also ordered a Caesar salad to split for a starter. I ordered the lasagna from the traditional menu and my wife ordered the Pork Belly Cannelloni from the specials board, both were absolutely delicious. You can tell they make their pastas from scratch as the texture was spot on. The flavor combination for the cannelloni was something I had never had and might be my favorite pasta dish I have ever had. We couldn't finish the portions that were given to us and we were excited to get to enjoy them again at home the next day. We did order the Creme Brulé Cheesecake to take as well and that was also delicious. We got the check and had to relook at the bill to make sure they got everything. For the level and quality of food, we expected the bill to be much higher. Overall we cannot recommend this place enough. We live in Renton and would easily make the drive to eat here in Anacortes with no hesitation. This is our current new favorite restaurant and can't wait to come back.

We also shared an Afogato--vanilla gelato with decaf espresso poured over! Perfect, quite light after our meal and beautiful enough to paint as a watercolor. This is one of our easy go-to's when looking to dine out. We were happily helped by friendly bartenders, Nicole and Sie, who made great recommendations and great drinks for us. I especially loved the Mario Cicotti cocktail (an interesting variant of an Old Fashioned--including tobacco bitters and charred orange peel!--very interesting). And we enjoyed the beautiful, warm Montepulciano Nicole recommended. And they concocted a surprise drink for my dessert--I can't recall what it was--but it was lovely and came with a bunch of hearts! Consistently wonderful place in all ways, with lots of heart itself. In my opinion, what's not to love?

Chef Alberto runs the whole operation himself cooking, serving, sharing stories, and making you feel like you've been invited to Sunday lunch at his family's table in Italy. The veal was overdone and notably fatty, and the saffron risotto was very dry; it desperately needed a sauce to pull the components together. At that price point, I expected a much more refined execution. It's a lovely place to sit and the staff are wonderful, but the main courses didn't live up to the premium cost. I perused the menu on a large chalkboard and chose the Emmer Spaghetti and added the optional meatballs. While waiting for my meal I discovered that they might have cannolis! I asked about getting a cannoli and was told that they would need to see if there was enough ingredients for one. I was in luck and was able to order one! The spaghetti was very well prepared and cooked. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and the homemade pasta. The meatballs were the highlight in my opinion! The background music was playing "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang and there's a line that asks "what is your pleasure" and I thought "right now? This meatball and the spaghetti!" Then I was handed my cannoli and I was amazed at the flavors and textures! One end was dipped in chocolate chips and the other end in pistachio pieces ! The filling had a slight citrus flavor and of course the shell was nice and crispy. I was very pleased with the meal and dessert. Was about to pay but at the last second thought I should go see in person since the last review here was 8 months old. Glad I did or I would have been out my money and hungry. It's also pretty annoying that there isn't a phone number listed anywhere (website, Google, or Yelp) and no recent posts on Facebook page, so no way to call ahead before wasting my gas and time.

Dear Reader... I…read morehave too many adjectives to describe our dining experiance at Mombo's without you thinking I'm overblown and can't be taken seriously. But that said, I will say this: *Atmosphere was Friday Night Busy, active and energetic, so our party was not the only one to be enjoying ourselves. *Menu is diverse and appealing. Our Kitchen Sink pizza was especially uniquely flavorful with no slices left to take home. *Prices are typical for 2026 fine eateries, so plan accordingly. (Otherwise, there's always a cheap pizza place somewhere that you'll regret later on while reaching for the antacid bottle...) *OF SPECIAL NOTE WAS THE WAIT STAFF ABBY!! She thoroughly took care of all our needs, especially my wife's food allergy issues. She went to the kitchen TWICE to ensure they could modify the selection she chose, without consternation or excuses. EXCELLANT SERVICE! Of special note: Abby is also the house baker, who created the recipe for the lavender lemon cheesecake we shared around. TOO TOO GOOD!! So, if you find I've used too many adjectives to show my appreciation for our dining experiance, you'll have to find out for yourself. BILL SEZ TWO THUMBS BIG-TIME UP. Check 'em out!
