The food is pretty good here. They have happy hour specials. It is a casual place, with lots of pool leagues... Afternoon is my favorite time to come here, if you come late night it gets a bit loud, and the crowd changes to younger people.. Parking is on the street... We stopped in here for the World Series not expecting much food wise. I ordered a club grinder expecting a glorified deli shrink wrapped sandwich level of quality. I was wrong! I do like grinders and these did not disappoint. The bread was baked to crispy bit not too crispy perfection. The toppings were fresh and they didn't not shy on the amount of meat or cheese. This is a solid local pub with a good beer selection, full bar and very good food. Atmosphere is casual, with good music, pool tables, televisions and pull tabs (gambling). Fun place to play darts, pool, and skeeball. The women's restroom was clean. We appreciated that there were good tips available for the darts game. The place has a cool feel and atmosphere. We went here for dinner on 10-4-23 and though the waitress was nice, my husband had the Fish and Chips they looked like they were from a frozen bag, they were cold inside, the tartar sauce was awful and the coleslaw was just ok, I had the North dbl burger dip it was so salty I couldn't finish one half of my sandwich and it was so overcooked along with the Tater tots We told our waitress and she was very apologetic and didn't charge us for our meals. It's a dive bar, so make sure you have the right expectations going into it. The bartenders were a little aloof, and the food, while okay and typical pub fare, is especially overpriced. I've never had five chicken fingers cost more than $12. The beers are fine, though there are better tap selections elsewhere down the street. The one thing that was a big turn off during my visit is that they allow smokers to stand outside the door and blow their cigarette smoke into the room (likely because they are still watching the games on the many TVs). I suspect this is the Mount Vernon version of Cheers, since everyone seemed to know each other, and it can be difficult to get the servers'/bartenders' attention when they're shooting the breeze. If you're looking for a dive bar and to watch the game, this isn't a bad spot, but I do think there are better options for bars around town. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would. Came here last night with a two other people and left a $2 tip ( since another person was tipping as well, we split it ). We went home and decided that we wanted to do a little more drinking/eating, so we went back. Once we got the check, the waiter had the audacity to pull aside my boyfriend and ask him "why did you come back? You gave me a $2 tip last time" and proceeded to add $10 to his check. He ended up tipping $2 again. Now, I've been a waitress for 3 years on/off, YOU NEVER DO THAT. 1) you don't know their financial status. 2) you just have to suck it up if someone doesn't want to tip you. Maybe that's because you SUCK as a waitress. It's not a law to tip, and you are tipped, there's no minimum requirement, unless the restaurant adds the 10% gratuity to your check. The wings were dry, the food was not worth the high prices, the service wasn't the greatest, and I suggest finding a better place to drink beer and eat better bar food somewhere else. read more

We Came for dinner and SIN night. Contrary to what is posted here it was at 8 not 5. We ordered apps and dinner as it was also posted half price apps. Our original waiter had left. The new one checked in once. We had to find her for a to go box. 20 minutes later we had to find her for our checks. We were surprised to find the apps were full price on the menu. When we asked about it the waitress got annoyed stating that didn't start until 8. Even though the wall poster stated half price apps. The Facebook page said 5-7. Her answer was well the owner doesn't care our have much to do with the Facebook page we could leave a comment card if we wanted. No customer service was offered. The bartenders are sweet and attentive, the beer flows well, and it's large enough for a hide-away in the back with some games. It's a bit dark and divey but a cool place to waste a day away. Good food, great atmosphere. But the service today was lacking. Waitress brought our drinks . Then stood talking other patrons. After 20 minutes, my husband went to the bar and asked her if we could order some food, 5 minutes later she came took our order. I told her that I had the wrong drink. I know the difference between vodka and whiskey, she basically told me to drink it. Never offered me a different drink. She brought the food out to the table and never returned to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. Like silverware would have been helpful. We waited for check at least 20 more minutes. I Finally went up to the bar to pay. The bartender went outside to get our check. We never saw the waitress again. Usually great service. Stopped in on Christmas Eve. Had a most excellent server, 'Sam.' She was great! The food was really fresh. Not greasy at all. We had some of the $1 street tacos and the jalapeno / artichoke dip. I came here with my Mom, my husband and some friends for karaoke. We ordered drinks. My friend didn't like her drink, but felt too bad to ask the bartender for something else. I told her that because she had only taken one sip that they would probably happily remake it for her. We asked and we were very polite but the bartender was rude and gave us attitude. The karaoke host was 30 minutes late starting, and when we asked him about it he snapped at us because he was "DJing". Hardly. Draft pics continues to work to refine themselves. I'm a lunchtime regular, so this is not a rating on the evening crowd. But in the last year Lance and his team have worked very hard and done very well to update the 'family seating' side of the bar. The booths are nice, the decor is up to date, the walls are painted, the tv's are bigger. The food is consistent and great, and the staff really puts the time to get to know the town. What's the point of a small town bar that doesn't know your name? All in all, I love this place and will continue to be a patron as long as they continue to be awesome. Most food is $10 or less. I went here with family for a birthday, and had a great time! Servers were so friendly, and the choice of beer on tap was great. I ordered a pizza and it turned out pretty great for a bar pizza! Lots of arcade games to enjoy like air hockey, big buck, skee ball, and golden tee. Two pool tables for those who play (I do not), and lots of televisions spread around for those who want to watch the game. I asked to change the channel on the tv I was closest too and the bartender just handed me the remote. Only downside was the amount of cig smoke that billows into the building from the front street even with the doors closed. It's an old building though.
