This is a solid local pub with a good beer selection, full bar and very good food. Atmosphere is casual, with good music, pool tables, televisions and pull tabs (gambling). On my recent visit, I got their version of a Philly cheese steak sandwich - sliced prime rib loaded with peppers and onions. The food was excellent and the service was quick and friendly - a great lunch stop.

I've been here several times and the food is AMAZING! Get the French dip!! It's responsibly priced and WAY better than some "fine dining" places in the area. Mary, my server is always nice, and on top of her game. Stop by for lunch and a cold one!

I had the chicken strips and fries. The strips were very tasty and didn't get hard and yucky like some do. They were still moist and crispy... If that makes sense. And great customer service from Rachel. Had to edit this post again. There is another section called the stadium, which has three pool tables and even more TVs.

Never felt welcome and the bartender is always condescending. Very biased people unless you agree with their perspective.

Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Not our particular cup of tea, perhaps, but give 'em a shot if you like IPAs and lagers, and don't care a whiff about pool or pizza. You might like it!

We wanted someplace warm and sunny, and realized that there aren't a lot of outdoor bar options around here! We saw the pics of Big Lake B&G's patio and headed over. Located directly on medium-busy (but not too bad) SR-9, the patio overlooks the houses and lake below. It was perfect! The lower patio, which has full table service, was full, so we sat on the upper "serve yourself" patio. Service at the bar inside was super quick, though, and soon enough we were enjoying our sips in the sunshine. And by sips I mean they have Stemma's legendary Super Squeeze seltzer on tap - one of my fave drinks in the PNW, and they had it by the pint! We also split an order of naked wings, which were all wings and no drumsticks (insert sad face) but served hot and delicious. I'll definitely add this to my sunny day rotation this summer!

The two ladies working the room were swamped as was the bar and kitchen. They all did an excellent job. Participation is $10 a person for the lessons. There were a ton of takers. The food is pretty consistent and it's mostly pub food but they do offer a 12 ounce ribeye or 6 ounce tri tip.

The patio faces one of the main streets so there was lots of good people watching. I ordered a beer flight and was very satisfied with all four of my selections: Prickly Pear Kolsch - it was creamy and easy to drink, bursting with prickly pear flavor; just the right amount of tart and sweet. Lightly Buzzed Honey Lavender Blonde - my favorite of the flight; it was very hoppy but light and refreshing and well balanced by intense lavender flavor and a smooth honey finish. Get it! You won't regret it. High Five Hefe - lighter/less hazy and more hoppy than most hefes it made for a unique and complimentary beer on my flight. Pommeroys Citra Pale Ale - a perfect West Coast IPA. To eat, my pup got the Lucky Dog hamburger (which the chef pre-cut) and loved it! He chowed down in less than a minute. And I got the Mac & Cheese Burger (sub a veggie patty) with the Garlic Fries. It was a very indulgent meal to say the least. The burger was loaded with so much Mac & Cheese that I couldn't even put the top bun on it and pick it up. lol I had to knife and fork the whole thing which was totally worth it. The Mac is a classic home style recipe (think Stouffers but better). Their fries are shoestring and super crispy and salty. And they loaded those up with an amazing garlic aioli and Parmesan. I got a side of their house-made curry aioli and was obsessed with it. Every fry that didn't have sauce or parm got a dip in that deliciousness and I added it to quite a few of the burger bites too. All in all, a great brewpub that I look forward to returning to in the future!

Not just a brewery, women-owned TH is also a taphouse featuring an assortment of tasty local and regional beers, wines, seltzers, and ciders. You'll find anything from their own house-brewed beers to local favorite breweries from around Washington State. I like going here with The Dude, because they've always got at least a couple of good IPAs on tap for him, as well as more mild choices for those of us who aren't as into over-the-top hoppiness. What sets Temperate Habits apart, though, is their excellent menu. From quirky options (like their famous mac 'n cheese burger) to more traditional offerings (like my favorite, the caesar salad with salmon), there's something here to fit most tastes, and most budgets. We love going here for lunch, grabbing a couple of pints, and splitting one of their tasty cheeseburgers. I'm also a fan of their appetizer brussel sprouts, made (of course) with Skagit Valley's finest. They do have an outdoor patio, which is a good place for people watching (but can get kind of loud as it's right on the street). Going solo? There's almost always a spot at their friendly bar!
