This place is a real treasure! Michelin would declare it "worth a detour," maybe even "worth the journey!" We've stopped here every time we're in the vicinity since Amy's owned the bar, and have followed her progress as she transformed an old logger/biker bar into a family friendly adult oasis in the tiny town of Lyman WA. Lyman Tavern is a MUST stop on the way out to North Cascades! Lyman Tavern's homemade potato chips are seriously the best chips I've ever had! They're thick cut and made to order so some of them come out a perfect mix of soft but crispy. The homemade pickle dip they come with is so unique and delicious. Amy, the owner, and Tara were a pleasure to chat with and had us laughing up a storm. Everything else we ordered (loaded pulled pork and grilled cheese) were incredible! Country kitsch ambiance, fun music, creative, tasty takes on classic pub grub, plus decent taps and tipples, inspire me to give this joint a hearty thumbs up! The service is friendly and no-nonsense, and you can tell they put a lot of love into this place. Decks of cards and other diversions can be found on the bar and tables, and the decor is festooned with humorous signs, trinkets and found objects, making for a fun and welcoming "come and sit a spell" atmosphere. And a pool table, for the win! A very welcoming stop along the road to Concrete and environs, much much much better than anything in Hamilton (give that town a skip, trust me). This place is very cute. It's more of a cafe or restaurant than a tavern. We had Tavern burgers all around each with their homemade chips, which was a nice surprise. Always fun to try an alternative to fries, especially homemade ones! We loved our burgers and the chips. There is a full bar with lots of options and we had a super friendly server. This place has a very large backyard with lots of yard games available and would be great for the long Summer evenings. I will definitely return here one day and am glad we stopped by. read more

The Lyman Tavern is a cute, family friendly spot in the small town of Lyman. The spot used to be a 21+ bad, but in recent years has become open to everyone. Inside is large with lots of seating, pool, and TVs. Outside is an open area with some seating and grass, nice for warm weather. They serve lots of beers and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, I tried the huckleberry cider which was pretty good. They have burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers. They're famous for their homemade chips, but I preferred the onion twists! I recommend trying their homemade dipping sauces on the side, there's a pickle dip, a ranch hot sauce, and more. The service can be slow sometimes since it's not staffed very well, but that's expected at a place like this. Everyone is super friendly and gave us some great food recommendations. I appreciate how they made me a vegan burger, using a veggie patty, guac, veggies, and no cheese or mayo. Nice local spot! read more

Great service, the bartenders are very friendly and helpful, the chips and pickle dip are a must try. My wife and I both had the burger which was excellent, she had wedges I had onion rings both were very good sides. We were in a beer mood and they have a good selection. read more

Stopped by for lunch for the first time in years. I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches were great. I had the brisket dip. I am still thinking about that sandwich two weeks later. I stalk Yelp reviews, I don't leave them, but we dropped in here after a hike and this place is so awesome I had to say something. The Lyman Tavern has everything. Pool, board games, card decks at every table, great beer on tap, DIPPING SAUCES, and the cheeseburger we had was fresh and delicious. The service was enthusiastic and awesome. They also thoughtfully have step stools for little kids in the bathroom. They also advertise a trivia night and a wimpy Wednesday burger night. These people have thought of everything. I want to pick this bar up and move it to my town. It's my new favorite tavern, ever. I will absolutely be back. If you're in the area, take the turn off for Lyman (I know, I didn't know this was a town either) and check out this awesome small business. read more

Love the vibes...clean, rustic, and warm, with a spacious area in back, with both covered and uncovered seating options. Games to play, super friendly staff, and right off the Cascade Trail. I highly recommend hopping off 20, or the trail, to enjoy a beverage. I didn't try any food, so I can't speak to their menu, but I have heard from friends that the food is good, too. I would say "I have no words" but then there wouldn't be a point to even make a review... Let's start with ambiance, this cute tavern is tucked away and has a lot seemingly going on when you pull up decoration wise. But when you go inside you instantly feel like you're at a family friend's house or a quirky uncle's home bar. There's decks of cards placed at each table, a pool table, jukebox machine, shelf of cards, games and puzzles so lots of activities to do with friends and/or family. Me and my BF came in about an hour before closing and there was literally no one there besides the employees, I'm assuming on a weekend night or not as late as 9pm it's a lot more lively in a wholesome way. Our server/bartender/cook was attentive and enthusiastic to take our order no complaints! Now *Drum roll* the FOOD, I was blown away by how yummy the food was! I ordered a grilled cheese on sourdough bread with the screwdriver Caesar salad which was ceasar salad with twirly al dente noodles tossed in. AMAZING!! My bf ordered a bacon cheeseburger with their homemade kettle cooked potato chips that were both soft and crunchy at the same time with a perfect amount salt. They also had a pickle dip similiar to an onion dip but made with pickles that combined with the kettle cooked chips blew our minds! Last and certainly not least... The cheesecake, I cried a little bit after taking my first bite it is that good. All in all I would 10/10 recommend and will certainly be coming back anytime we're vacationing in this area again. read more

My cousin and I went here because we just wanted to try something off the beaten path. This place does price gouging. We told the waitperson that we were going share the shrimp basket and order of onion rings because we were having an early dinner. She came with two separate plates with 3 shrimp each and some battered onion pieces. They were not onion rings. So I thought it was kind of nice that they did that until we got the bill. They charged us $2 for a split plate and $2.99 for the onion bits neither of which we asked for. So for a half-fast shrimp basket was $25. The person never came back to see if we needed anything. Since the new owner took over in August 2022, the Lyman Tavern is my favorite place to visit. It is welcoming, full of fun games - a variety of card and board games, as well as darts and a pool table - and the food is consistently delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the house chips with pickle dip or the chachos - SO good. Trivia Tuesdays are a guaranteed good time, but just about any day will give you the chance to see the creative and energetic owner. She pours her heart and soul into her bar, and it shows. read more

If you can make it to Sedro Wooley or anywhere else go there. Don't waste your precious time at this location. We just wasted an hour and forty five minutes for a burger that was extremely dry. The service was horrendous. I'm sure if you're a local the story might be different. We were never asked if we wanted another drink or refill.
