Smithwicks and a Powers Rye
Netta M.

Can't at all speak to the food, but had excellent service at the bar. Reasonable prices, large beer and whiskey selection, friendly bar staff. 10/10 will return

Cheers!

It's solid. Traditional Irish fare with generous portions. The restaurant is nice inside with comfortable seating and room for large parties. Service is typically fast and friendly. Pricing is good. Some dishes are better than others. I'm a big fan of the Guinness beef stew, the homemade chicken tenders and the turkey dinner. I was less impressed with the Irish broil - the meat was decent, but the marinade had an odd flavor that I ended up masking with gravy. Great beer selection including Irish favorites like Kilkenny, Guinness and Smithwicks.

Rachael was a fantastic server. She handled a table full of senior citizens very well. Very cool decor. The gorgonzola burger was outstanding. The fries were seasoned perfectly.

Clean, great service, and great food. Love the food and service. The server was very polite and gave great service. We had live music playing good Irish tunes. Try them out for a nice cozy relaxing meal. This is agreat location for date night.

The service is good they were nice and helpful so I will give 1 star there. The ambiance is a lot if you have a hard time in crowds otherwise it's nice with live music 1 star. Food that I got was bacon cheese burger and it was pretty good the fries were good needs a little more salt and the burger was filling but hard to find a filling burger overall 4/5 stars

Good cup of tea with breakfast

Writing this review because we stopped here for breakfast and most of the reviews I read are for lunch and dinner. This is a good place to stop for breakfast. It was busy but we were seated right away. The service was good and efficient. Everything we ordered was good and if you're hungry or looking for something different the full Irish breakfast is a good option. I don't like black pudding so they were willing to give me two pieces of white pudding. I would definitely stop here again for breakfast or probably any time of day.

The bar is gorgeous

The food was so yummy. We had the corn beef and eggs Benedict. The staff was very friendly and the service excellent. The Irish themed music added to the overall feel of the place.

I stopped in at Shawn O'donnel's for lunch and had a totally excellent meal. The marbled rye tasted great. The caraway seed was very present and added to the great taste of the bread. The sauerkraut was on point! Tangy and crisp. But, the star of the sandwich, and rightly so, was the corned beef. So tender that it did not resist biting into and it melted in my mouth. All in all, a superb sandwich and a joy to eat! The wait staff was excellent. They didn't hover but always seemed to be available when I needed them. I was thoroughly entertained by the Irish decor. I've always wanted to visit Ireland, and I'd like to think it would be something like the atmosphere of Shawn O'donnel's.

This was my second time visiting Shawn O'Donnell's for breakfast and I must say, they are definitely up there on my list of great places to get brekky in the valley. The vibe here is definitely upscale Irish pub meets farmhouse; an ode, I'm assuming, to the previous establishment that made a legend of itself on the local scene over many decades. Shawn O'Donnell's kept many of the og The Farmhouse elements while making it their own. The morning menu features American-style favorites, and some traditional Irish grub too. They also have a full bar, and offer a brunch buffet on Sundays for just $22/person. On this Saturday morning visit, we shared a farmer's omelet and one of their giant cinnamon rolls. It was more than enough for the two of us. Can't wait to come back and try that brunch buffet!

Our server was the sweetest! It was our first time at O'Donells and looked forward to trying their famous fish and chips. Sadly we were 30mins too early for the lunch and opted in for the chicken fried steak and the O Donnell omelette. For the side of potatoes you can order either potato casserole or hash-browns. Chicken fried steak was off the chain. Gravy flavorful and steak crispy, juice and hot. I had the hashbrowns and Irish soda biscuit along with their jam. I don't know how I was living without ever having an Irish soda biscuit. So flavorful, fluffy with a good bite to it and add the jam it's a party in your mouth. Will def make a plan to visit one closer to home so we can try the famous fish and chips.

We visited on St Pattys weekend so the bar and restaurant were packed! Limited menu but what we got was stellar. Super clean and welcoming. We want to come back when the regular menu is available.

Located in the building that used to be the Farmhouse, this is a fantastic location to continue getting breakfast. Nice refresh on the exterior and interior, and a friendly staff. Ordered a simple egg breakfast with my eggs over easy. Everything was cooked to perfection. Bacon was delicious and smoky. I even got a biscuit with some local jam. I will continue to come here for breakfast if I'm in the Skagit Valley!

For starters, we ordered the artisan bread, a dozen oysters, and the beet salad. As someone who bakes and sells my own artisan sourdough, I was underwhelmed by the bread. I liked the touch of truffle they add to it but it needed salt. And it also needed to be on the table well before the 35 minutes we waited for it. The oysters were also not very memorable. I can't remember what one of the varieties was, but they were brinier than I care for but that's just a personal preference. The kumamotos were the TINIEST oysters I've ever seen. I've eaten my share of kumamotos and I know Japanese oysters are generally smaller and sweeter than other varieties (which is why they're my favorite) , but I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the size of quarter. I also didn't like the frozen mignonette they served as an accoutrement. It didn't seem frozen--it spread like jam. It didn't really taste like vinegar or shallot like mignonette should. It was just not very good. The beet salad was EXCELLENT. The chèvre was generous, the bitter micro greens tasted great with the beets and chèvre. It was well seasoned. We devoured it. For entrees, I had the dayboat scallops and my husband had the duck leg. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the leek risotto was very tasty. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do with the pickled lemon on my plate. I tried to eat a small piece with the other elements and it was so overpowering that I left the rest on my plate. Now let's talk about the protein--my $52 scallop dish came with THREE scallops. Not even whole scallops as I'm pretty sure they were cut in half to cook more evenly. Three small 1/2 scallops and two cubes of pork belly. For Fifty-two dollars. My husband enjoyed the duck, but again, the portions were disappointing. $230 later, we ended up going through a drive through because we were still hungry. Unlikely we'd return after such an expensive meal left us so unsatisfied.

I was honestly shocked by how good the food was. I had initially assumed it might be a spot primarily for tourists, but a dear friend of mine who is a local mentioned that people in Victoria actually love coming here. She even noted that some friends from her children's school were there just the night before for an alumni weekend. The menu absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was blown away by the fish and chips; the fish was moist with a light batter and wasn't oily at all. The burgers, Irish stew, and shepherd's pie were all delectable as well. The real standout, however, was the sockeye salmon in a pesto preserved lemon broth--it was so addictive that I wish I could replicate the recipe at home. It is very easy to see why this spot has received so many accolades, and I would love to return the next time we are back in Victoria!

Features a full bar with cocktails and a great beer selection. Ambiance is fantastic, with dark wood and interesting lighting and decorations. I'll be honest - it smells like dirty bar from time to time, so I'd say cleaning could be improved. The menu has something for everyone. Their burgers are awesome, the tater tots are creative and delicious. I tried the steak tacos the recently and they were very tasty, although the tortillas were slightly over toasted, resulting in a bit more crunch than you'd expect. Service is usually good. The bartenders handle table service, so you could end up with more than one person waiting on you rather than having a dedicated server. This can result in slower service times when it's busy, but that's the nature of the beast.

Our waitress was so kind! We started off with the calamari and pork belly bites. LOVED the calamari - perfect spices and flavor to it, loved the addition of banana peppers. Usually they put fresh jalapenos with it at other places. The pork belly bites were a nice appetizer and the marination was pretty good. A little chewy to my liking but was not bad! We saw that they had the fiesta flight and my buddy really wanted to try it so we did! There were 4 mini margaritas: the blue Hawaiian, the raspberry coconut, the spicy classic and the peach. The peach was my absolute favorite! The others were OK -- the blue Hawaiian was literally like the blue Hawaiian juice (my buddy said it tasted like koolaid so not the best...). The raspberry coconut was a little off...not sure what it was. With the flight, it came with 3 little appetizers. Shrimp ceviche, mango and other fruits with Tarin and Mexican crema corn (there's a name for it but blanking...) Shrimp ceviche was not bad, a touch of pico de gallo. The mango fruit with Tarin was definitely different - you can taste the spice! I didn't really like the Mexican creama corn...flavors were kind of off and there was more cream than corn. Our main entrees were pretty delicious! They ran out of the braised pork shank. I settled with the hangar steak. Loved the carrots, snow peas and mash potatoes. My buddy got the grilled salmon and that was DELICIOUS! We also got the loaded potato skins which were a nice appetizer to end the night. (Yes we got a lot of food! My buddy and I tend to do that on our food adventures lol) Lots of screen TVs as expected around the restaurant and it was mariners night so the staff was easy to identify. We'd come back!

We were craving a sweet treat after a delish dinner nearby, and this was one of the only spots open after 8pm. (If you know La Conner, you know how thrilled we were to discover this.
