We came here for drinks on a summer evening in June. There was no wait to sit at the bar. It was our last stop before heading back to the cruise ship to return to port and end our vacation the next day. My spouse who has been to Ireland three times said it was very spot on in regards to looking like an authentic Irish pub. The staff were super friendly. I enjoyed a Harp Beer on tap. My spouse had Jamison of course.

I love a classic Irish pub. It was the last day of our trip, so i had to stopped in for some Guinness and a nice breakfast! I was not disappointed, so tasty!

Great authentic Irish fair. Got the happy hour trio, which was Irish stew, shepherds pie, and fish and chips. Also got some poutine nothing disappointed food was amazing seasoning was on point. got a black and tan which I haven't had in a long time, and it was very enjoyable. Amazing ambience in the building reminiscence of any Irish pub you could've been in and the service was great. Nothing left to be desired.

What's not to love about the pub? The food was great, the service prompt, and the beer variety extensive.

The service was excellent and probably not easy on the servers because we dined upstairs. The food was good, but not great. None of our entrees blew us away. I probably enjoyed the chowder the most even though it looks mediocre. It was a perfect balance of soup and chowder. Not too heavy but creamier and hartier than chicken soup. I liked the spicy chicken sandwich. It had the right amount of spice but the fried chicken itself was very very chewy. Maybe it sat for too long?! Overall it was still decent.

We were in town for the day and decided to give this place a try for dinner. I had the spicy fried chicken sandwich and my husband had the fried cod and we both liked our entrees - the pieces of cod were huge! The waitresses were very kind and checked on us multiple times. Definitely a cute local place with good food.

I happened to overhear from a passing tour guide that the Irish Times Pub was once a bank, which would explain the grandeur of its exterior and interior. But what he failed to mention is that their service, food and drinks are similarly lavish, extravagant, and worth investing your money in. I truly struggled with the dilemma of ordering either the shepherd's pie, or the bangers and mash, eventually choosing to go with the former, as it is one of my all-time favorite dishes, and based on how fantastic it was, I know would not have been disappointed in the latter, either. A thick, warm, fluffy layer of mashed potatoes over seasoned beef and veggies, with a thick crust of melted cheese on top; it's like a creme brulée for people with savory, sanguine palates, or who hate sugar (like me)! Couple that with an Irish Old Fashioned, and you have made me one happy boy! For a few moments, I was able to forget the impending sorrow of having to leave Victoria on the ferry in a few hours. My wife, who had enjoyed a larger brunch than mine, supped on a cup of their fantastic crab bisque: a surprising find on the menu of an Irish pub, in our opinion, but well-received - it had a savory twang to it I could not identify, but gave it a unique quality that we appreciated, and will not soon forget. I didn't get the best look around the interior, as it was nearly full, and we had a stroller with us, so outside seating was our only option. That said, service was prompt, friendly and efficient, and everything arrived sooner that we expected it to, even out on the patio. Every aspect of our visit was top notch, proving that it's not just the luck of the Irish that makes this pub a world-class establishment, and a four-leaf clover in Victoria's hat! Sláinte!

Wonderful food! Service was incredible both times we went and atmosphere is very authentic with a Victoria twist. Happy hour is great, tvs for sports if that's your thing and music in the evenings all week long.

The food was really good. Especially the yam fries. Our server was top notch. The place had a fun vibe. Bummed we missed the live music.

I enjoyed the Driftwood, thought Smithwick's was ok, and thought the Irish Poutine was the best thing ever.

Wandering down Main Street, we spotted Penny Farthing and its sister restaurant Vis à Vis (they share a kitchen and have the same owner). Half of us wanted English pub food, the rest wanted sophisticated French cuisine, so we compromised; we sat outdoors on the common patio and ordered from both menus! Standout dishes: - Brie tart: warm and delicious, from the Vis à Vis menu. - Buffalo Chicken Wrap: flavorful and zingy, one of my favorite dishes on the trip. - The Farthing Burger: juicy and filling. Service was friendly and relaxed, and prices were reasonable. Happy to return.

The Sunday roast was just a thick piece of roast beef . It did not seem fresh like it was carved from a roast. It did not melt in my mouth. The potatoes were good-food was not hot - there was no au jus no gravy it was still expensive at $33. Also I asked for a gin and tonic with a craft gin and they added another $5 on the bill which at previous visits they didn't. This resteraunt gets away with a lot because they are a favourite of the people who live in Oak Bay. Like I said the staff for the most part are very friendly but the food could be improved especially since they supposedly share the kitchen with Vis à Vis next door which is a pricier place that does have great food. I think they just need to pay more attention to the food quality and temperature and either hire more serving staff for the busy nights or just make sure they are present to check on people. And I would not order the roast again unless I knew it was freshly carved.
