I've been many times and this time something was off. The waitstaff was cold and unbothered. We were handed cold rock hard bread (that we paid money for) the waitress that helped us was so sweet and was truly doing her best with what she was given that night by others. Everything just seemed to be in disarray. The bathrooms were completely unstocked. The paper towel dispenser broken. The food was ok. I got the Colcanon which honestly should just be advertised as breakfast for dinner. My partner got the bangers and mash which was banging (in a good way) but I feel like that's pretty hard to mess up. We were given plastic utensils due to a silverware shortage. Idk. Went last night on recommendation from friends and seeing the previous reviews. It was cute, I like the bar and the atmosphere, but I have a bias to Irish pubs as long as they hit it close to the mark. Good for us, bad for them there were not many people for a Saturday early evening. Had a version of Irish coffee and it was.... Ok. Ordered the turkey sandwich and the Shepherds pie. The pie was good and good portion, did need HP sauce to get some more flavor to it. The turkey sandwich was a wash, partner ate half of it and gave up as way too dry. Considering the reviews was expecting more, it was ok.. May try it again but not going there just to try it again. Had a black n tan(Guiness and smithwhicks), it almost tasted over carbonated. The Guinness tasted normal but the smith was.... Different. Will have to try that again somewhere else to verify if it was me or the pour. Server was pleasant. read more

Food was a solid four, but the service is a two star. Sheppard's pie was really good with a deep flavor profile. The only thing I wanted to do it was some fresh cracked pepper. Otherwise, amazing. 5pm on a weekday and the server couldn't seem to care less. I wanted to ask for the pepper, but by the time she came back around to my table I was just about done. I would had to throw something at her to get a glance in my direction. It gets worse. Business dinner, so I'm capped at 15% tip by policy. I went ahead and did that. Handed the portable payment pad back to her and she had this disgusted look on her face. I told her I'm going to start a non-business tab with some Jameson and listen the the Irish folk band warming up. Received the pour and freaking thing smelled like bleach and dirty dish water. I couldn't drink that! I took it back up to the bar and explained the problem and the bartender said "we don't even use bleach." Not everyone is a chemist, but I know what hypochlorite smells like fresh and then after being used. Waited. Then the disgusted waitress was going to simply pour the tainted Jameson into another shot glass!?! No, I want another pour and waited until the bartender came over and poured another. Like it was a huge deal? Even more freaking sketchy, I asked for a refill of my water 10 minutes later and another Jamison pour 10 after that. This time I was paying attention, and the waitress dipped into the kitchen with my ice water glass... re-emerged a minute later with it, filled it with water at the bar, and gave it to me? I love the building and the addition of the basement dining area! I've always had great food and love the atmosphere the owners created in this space. I agree with their moto "Be Good or be Gone," but most of the time the staff was ranging from indifferent to rude. That has changed in recent weeks. There have been staffing changes. It's friendlier and has better staff levels. Could use more promo, and I would look at promoting, and adding a nice Irish breakfast service there also. Open at 8 maybe for breakfast? Close at 11 or 12. Staying open til 2:00 seems like trouble. Overall I still love this place but there is room for improvement. read more

Midday review In short Awesome character to the place--kinda cramped, but the woodwork and furniture have age and charm to spare. Our bartender was super sweet and we got to try a rare treat. In long Yeah, the rep for this place is too many people having way too many and getting way too rowdy. We stepped in on a Friday afternoon right after they opened and everything was lovely. There were already over a dozen people getting primed up for the evening, but this felt like a charming neighborhood watering hole, not a rambunctious roadhouse or anything like that at all. You hope for a spot in the angle-in parking on Colby; we scored. The gal sitting outside with her quiet little pooch was open to us saying hi to the dog, which is always a good sign. Lulu is about 5 years old and very low-key, loves her neck scratched. Inside it's kind of dim, and the first thing you see is the back staircase headed to the cellar. There are booths and tables over there, and a long dark bar on this side. The barmaid answered questions right away with tons of good cheer, and was out to our table in no time with ice waters and our drink. We came in to try Redbreast 27, which is about as fancy as Irish whiskies get. Well worth the splurge. She was super friendly and chatted with us for a few minutes when she set it down. We're easy money on a day like today--ice waters and one pour. It was amazing, by the way. It's awesome to have a place in town pouring it! The other folks at the bar were nice. We can't comment on the food just yet, but as of today I'd happily come back on a cool rainy day for colcannon, soda bread, and more Redbreast. The barmaid was quick to point out that they have several other expressions. Yeah, she's wearing the house t-shirt that says "be good or be gone," so misbehavior is in the daily horoscope here, especially on the weekends. We happened to be in downtown Everett and decided we were hungry. After a quick Google search, we decided to eat at The Irishmen. The atmosphere is exactly what we expected after reading the name. It's filled with Irish sports memorabilia and tons of Guinness signs. We had the poutine and lamb shepherds pie. The poutine was just okay. The mound of onions in the gravy made it taste sweet, which was odd. But the shepherds pie.....holy hell, the shepherds pie. Thay was the BEST shepherds pie I have ever had in my life. It was absolutely amazing! There was only 1 waitress, and the poor woman was walking around in a boot because she injured her foot. She was friendly, and as the people crowded in, she was trying her best to care for all her tables. We went for happy hour. Got the fish and chips, which were great. Nice, hot and crispy. The bread pudding is incredible. Very moist and flavorful. We got helped fast and got our food fast. Super friendly server! The inside is a little dark and the seating is a little tight. I think it's pretty typical of this type of pub though. It's only 21 and over, which has made it hard to go to. After seeing rave reviews about the food here, I've been wanting to try it. Today I decided to order take out as I was working near by. I ordered the fish and chips and an order of bread pudding for desert. I used the online menu to choose my selections. I arrived to pick up my food and the place is adorable and the staff very nice. However, my total for those 2 items was over $40 which I was not expecting as the online prices did not match. I get prices have gone up in the economy but I would have expected online pricing to be up to date. That's expensive to feed one person. I would not have ordered here knowing the true price. The fish people rave about was greasy, small portioned, and mediocre. The fries were good but nothing special about them. I enjoyed the coleslaw more than the fish. The bread pudding was good around the edges but had a very soggy uncooked vibe in the center which was a bit of a turn off. I would like to come back and dine in and try other things but I'm highly disappointed with my first experience. That meal was really only worth the online price point. read more

I am in Everett for business and I decided to try dinner at The Irishmen pub. I've never been to Ireland, but this pub is what I imagined being in an authentic Irish pub would be like. There was a FC corner dedicated to some of the soccer teams of Europe. Well-weathered heavy wooden tables and chairs. The booths were actually two wooden chairs and a bench seat using the wall as the backrest. When the server presented the menus I ordered a Power's whiskey. The menu described it as: Sweet floral flavors with notes of fruit and spiced vanilla. I'll have to trust the description since I am cursed with an "uneducated tongue". I just know what flavors I enjoy, but I couldn't differentiate between flavors. I did enjoy it though! For dinner I ordered the Irish Shepherd's Pie. Oh. My. It was delicious! I couldn't wait to taste it and I got a mouth of piping hot cheese-covered potatoes with a nice meat gravy. It was too hot to taste any of the flavors. Don't be like me, give it 10 minutes to cool so you can enjoy the varied flavors of the lamb, beef, vegetables, potatoes, and cheese!! I was halfway through the bowl before I let it cool enough to actually taste it. And the I noticed two little pieces of bread on the saucer plate. I couldn't identify the bread so I smelled it. To me it smelled somewhat like cornbread, but was the wrong texture and color. I asked the server what the bread was and she informed me it was soda bread made fresh at the pub! I ordered a can of Two Towns Cider (Blackberry flavored) to drink with dinner. For dessert I ordered the fudge-covered brownie. Only to be told they were out! The server talked me into trying the (seasonal flavored) cheesecake. The flavor they had was peanut butter on a chocolate crust with drizzled fudge on top with homemade whipped cream on the side. I asked for a Bailey's Coffee to sip while enjoying that delicious cheesecake. When I finally ended my evening of gluttony, I had to waddle my fat butt back to my hotel. I had a very delicious and enjoyable dinner at The Irishmen pub in Everett. My only complaint would be the bench seats are not even close to being comfortable, but the great tasting food more than compensates. read more

My partner has Irish roots, so when we were looking for a decent spot for a bite and a beer later in the evening, we had to try this spot out. Suffice it to say that she was supremely satisfied. The only sad points were how they didn't have any Murphy's and were out of a couple of the fancier whiskies that we wanted to try, but the food, oh my goodness the FOOD. We got potato farls, colcannon, shepherd's pie and some chocolate dessert pastry. I honestly forget which beer we got (sorry!), but it was a tasty stout (not Guinness). The prices may seem on the steep side, but it made sense once we got the food because these guys deliver with quality AND quantity. The colcannon blew my mind. Wonderful balance of flavors. The shepherd's pie was similarly wonderful, with layers of ingredients baked to perfection. Everything was on point, from the flavor to the texture. My wife and I stopped into The Irishmen for a bite and drink. Free parking can be found on the street. Discover is an accepted form of payment. The Irishmen is 21+ only. Happy Hour is offered daily from 3pm-6pm then again from 10pm-midnight. Live music is offered every Monday evening from 7pm-10pm. A small outdoor seating area is available to enjoy during warmer days. The Irishmen offers a full bar and a nice draft selection. Reservations are not accepted and often times, The Irishmen is quite busy so large groups may be hard pressed in finding seating. My wife and I slurped on a Manny's and Freemont Lush for $4 each. My wife and I shared the Fish (qty 1) & Chips for $8.95 (hh): Harp beer battered cod and fries, served with coleslaw and tartar sauce. The fish was hot, flaky and tasty. The fries were also served hot and well seasoned. We also shared the Irishmen Burger for $8 (hh) + $1 up-charge for cheese. The happy hour burger is a chintzy version of the full menu burger. Fries are not served with the happy hour version. The patty was dry and the bun hard. Neither of us would order this version again in the future. We also shared the Guinness Gravy Poutine for $5.50 (hh): fries covered in a Guinness gravy and topped with shredded cheese. This dish was the star of the evening for the both of us. So good - salty and flavorful. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall, we will both be back to The Irishmen in the future. read more

Came in on a Saturday night at 10pm after a show at the village theater. Upon entering the bar had a chill vibe with live music playing so we were really happy we decided to try this place out since we were looking to have a chill date night. We got rushed to place food order right after we sat down, which was reasonable because the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so we ordered right away. We ordered fish taco and Guinness beef stews. Flavors are decent but pricey given how small the portions are. But we were not really that hungry so the portions worked for us. Then we were rushed to order drinks, no problem, picked our drinks. Really enjoyed the beer "cocktails", the mixture of different beers on tap were really good. Then before we even finished our food, we were asked by our waitress if she can bring our check already if we didn't need anything else. Honestly we were gonna get another drink, but we wanted to take our time with the drinks we had at the time and it seemed like the waitress really wanted to go get off her shift so that's fine, give us our check. Then the waitress came again to ask if I can sign the check already. The entire experience felt so rushed I was beyond annoyed at that point. Tipped 20+% anyway so the waitress can get off her shift to enjoy a drink with her friend at the bar. I understand her friend was waiting for her at the bar so she can't wait but she could've let us take our time and cash out her tips the next day instead of rushing us to wrap up considering the bar was not closing anytime soon. The food is good. The Guinness, I believe, is refrigerated with the other beers because it was quite cold. Didn't even look at the menu - I knew what I wanted. They have a nice downstairs with darts and table tennis and board games. I was surprised at the bill. Their website is down so you can't see the menu online. Entrees are all over $20 and beer about $10 so 3 entrees, 4 beers and a 20% tip comes to about $140. read more
