In long We heard great things about this place even before it opened; the grapevine just had awesome news about this space finally turning into something that would stick. We pulled up today and immediately noticed the outdoor play area for the kids. It's cordoned off by oak wine barrels, so they're kinda blending their concepts artfully before you even walk in. We're not *that* local, but we definitely buy the idea that there are few, if any, great kid-friendly places around here. Inside, it might be pretty packed already. There are big heavy wooden tables, with more upstairs. You can push them together for groups. You get laminated menus, and they do have table service, or you can order at the counter. They very carefully manage all their beers, wines, ciders, canned cocktails, and so on. Rumor has it they lured a brewer away from Urban Family and will be churning out their own stuff soon. We checked out 2 things from the regular menu and 3 from the HH menu. It wasn't too packed at first, but by 4:00 the regulars, families, and HH crowd were really filling it up. Wines We tried the pinot grigio, red blend, chardonnay, and rosé from the by-the-glass menu. They're all good enough to order most any place, and finding them by the glass shows they're putting real thought into all the details here. Miso pickles Absolutely ridiculously good. Nice seasoning, tart miso flavor, crunchy fresh cauliflower, carrot, and cukes. Would not only order again but attempt to reverse-engineer these and have them at home. Great HH value. Fried pickles Great with or without the cheese that's softened on some (but not all) of the piles. Awesome dipping crema with a bit of kick from hot peppery seasoning. Drummies No longer offered with green buffalo sauce, which sounds like a sad farewell, based on the description of it (jalapeño & vinegary hot sauce, I think). But the gochujang was buttery and peppery. They pressure-fry the wings so they are crazy tender and moist. Humongous drums, too. Awesome HH value--true, you get only 2, but there's plenty of veg in the bowl. Smashburger Another fantastic HH menu item. Nice fresh crunchy toppings, hearty roll, and beautifully seasoned and cooked patty. Not too crunchy, which I appreciate. Easy to imagine someone ordering more than one and getting way too full. Smokey Dipper Regular menu. Awesome grilled steak flavor to the meat, got some salty broccoli mixed in for crunch and variety. The broc would be a good appetizer on its own! Hearty, savory jus, and the onion rings are out of this world. Even I couldn't finish them all, despite how great they tasted. Super generous portion. The staff here are all free spirits and great conversationalists, which is super nice to see. We quickly were able to find a table and were greeted by such a wonderful waitress. She was truly a gem. She bantered with us and gave us speedy top notch service. However, this part does not reflect her or anyone foh; I ordered the fish and chip bucket and was presented with what I can only describe as the box of turkish delights bequeathed to Edmund in the chronicles of Narnia. That night I ended up praising my toilet all night. I thought maybe someone spiked my 6 beers but then remembered I only had the 2. I haven't been sicker than a got dang dog like that in a real long time. I don't think there's anyway to describe the scene in my bathroom other than 1970s Vietnam war crimes. When we were done with food instead of allowing us to continue to watch the game or participate in bingo the waitress put our check down. It was clear that waitress did not want people to spending much time in the establishment or have more than one beverage. It is SUPER kid/family friendly with many small details to show that - from the kid play area (filled with good quality and branded toys), video game area, to the bathroom with step stool to wash hands, toddler potty seat, and safety table corner pieces, the owners seriously thought of it all! Wow, I am incredibly impressed by this new Lake Stevens restaurant! Everything was so great and service, while unexpectedly slow was fine considering they're new and working things out. 5 stars all day. I ordered takeout from their website. The system for ordering was totally usable -- no complaints. It gave an estimate of about 25 mins to pick up, so I arrived around that time. Parking was ample - they have a small-ish lot (~20 spots), but there is overflow into the street, which is fine... and even more overflow in a dirt lot across the street (not sure if that's allowed, but some people were parking there). When I arrived around 7:00PM on a Saturday, there were 2-3 spots available in their lot, but at peak time, you'll have to think about that. I walked in, and there's no normal host sitting at the front to greet you and figure out things, so my first impression was that of terror and confusion. They had some info on the wall about "how they work" - that you just grab a menu, sit down, and I guess order at the bar, and a server will bring your food to you (using numerical flags, I think). Makes sense... but does that mean I should go to the bar? I stood in my frozen terror position for like 20 seconds (20 mins in terror-time), and a nice server came up and asked if I'd been there before. I blurted out that I was picking up a to-go order, and she was super friendly and helpful - went to check on it. It wasn't ready, yet, so I sat in an empty bench near the front door. While sitting, I got to take in the vibes of everything going on. They had some huge TVs playing Mariner's baseball and a WNBA summer all-star game. The interior was super clean, like a modernist, clean, beer hall. They have this huge fireplace thing with reclaimed-looking wood veneer and gigantic, chonky, long, wooden tables. So, it kind of felt like you were a tiny kid in an oversized place. It's really nicely decorated, though -- extremely well done. They had games for people to play, and someone was actually playing cribbage at one of the tables. Their website said they were super family-friendly... and that vibe wasn't just lip service and is attracting a certain niche(ish) clientele - there were kids eating, babies hanging out in strollers, kids outside playing corn hole... lots of kids. It was kind of loud from people talking (like... above-average since it was all one big open room), but I don't think the kids were particularly disruptive, so I think people without kids would feel awkward being here, too... or I'm just desensitized, who knows? I had a lot of time to look around and soak in the vibes because it took about 20 mins to get my to-go order. I don't really mind that... like, if it said "be here in 40 mins and we got you", I would have been fine waiting 40 mins, but it's just the awkward sitting in the lobby-ish area, watching people going all over and not being certain when it'll be done or if they forgot about you and it's just sitting there ready to go. I couldn't see the bar from where I was sitting. But the helpful server did update me once during that time to let me know they were just waiting on one more thing, so it wasn't "horrible". I just chalk this up to being new and busy... working out the kinks. No worries, here. So yeah, got my food and headed home. They packed the food in eco-friendly stuff, which is great -- I do think these eco-friendly containers aren't as good at keeping fried stuff crispy, but it's fine (you know picking up take-out and driving for 15-20 mins... it's not going to be perfect, so it's just the trade-off of the environment vs. food freshness, lol -- and the environment is worth it). We got a wide variety of stuff, between everyone in the family - grilled cheese, "drummies" (fried chicken drumsticks), hot chicken sandwich, hatch chili queso, tots, fries, onion rings... so, I had a chance to try a lot of the menu, and just about everything was perfection. For me, they ESPECIALLY NAILED the fried chicken. It traveled well, was crispy, juicy, hot, and well-seasoned -- and it wasn't over-the-top or weird... just classic fried chicken with a thin coating. Their buffalo sauce was on the hotter side, so my wife wasn't a fan, but it was incredible-tasting (HOT = GOOD FOR ME). We got it on the side, so it didn't ruin anyone's time. The hatch queso was great -- had onions and stuff mixed in, which made the kids weary, but they really enjoyed it once they got over that. The queso comes with fritos and home-made tortilla strips -- both were fun and tasty. Onion rings were great - still crispy and hot... well salted, etc. Just great. The hot chicken sandwich was my order, and it was SO GOOD. Again, they just nailed making a juicy, perfectly fried chicken... the sauce was on the hotter side (which, again... amazing for me) and it had chunky cole slaw inside to balance it out. YUMMM. After about 30 mins one of the servers checked in with us and realized our order had been lost. Luckily our kid was having a good time playing upstairs but we were super hungry. Our food came out shortly after and was pretty good. The kids burrito was huge and we took half home. We also tried the craftsmen which was delicious and the Fontaine which was okay but wouldn't get that one again. The loaded tots that they gave us on the house were tasty too. Although it took a while for our food, everyone we came in contact with was friendly and provided excellent service. The place was very clean and had lots of drink and food options. You can tell a current parent of young kids designed the bathroom. This is the most "family friendly" establishment I've ever been to! Kudos to this place for making "potty" breaks so much earlier for parents with young kids! Beers are great, food is good, service is decent - but come here if you want a place for your kids to be entertained and also somewhere that feels like home with toys on the floor and other tired ass parents that just need a beer or four. Oh boy. Where do I start. First off I know this is a new restaurant so there's going to be hiccups. Also this was on a very busy Friday night. The staff was not bad but service was slow. Just ordering off a QR code. The whole place had a great vibe, but so did meatheads, which use to be at this location. We went upstairs and sat at the bar area waiting for a table. In the mean time we ordered a couple drinks and a 12 Drummer(hot chicken and bbq), as well as the hatch Queso. 40 minutes later 8 drumsticks showed up so we started off shorted 4. We told one of the servers and they were working on correcting the order. We started to dig in. Not cooked all the way, somewhat highly and raw. Another 10 minutes went by and we received the hatch queso(50 minutes after ordering). It was cold and served with a very small mixture of chips(frito and pita chips?). We were hungry and while we waited for the drumsticks my wife had ordered a grilled cheese a chicken tenders. Those both took about an hour to receive. We got the grilled cheeses first. The bread was slightly toasted and the cheese was still COLD. After that I had had enough. We did end up getting the chicken tenders and my wife said they were good....but by that time I didn't even want to give it a chance. The manager did come out at one point and apologize and stated he would correct it and refund us(this was before we received the grilled cheese. Upon getting the check we had to have the server check that there was a refund. He had to change a few things. They did have a great selection of drinks. Also our friends that attended also were served raw drumsticks and other food. For a dozen of them, $30 is not worth it. Even if they are cooked correctly. Overall the only thing that saved them from a 1 star rating is their selection in brews and the set up of the place. I hope that future visitors have a much more positive experience, but I will not be back. read more

The hatch chili appetizer was amazing. Hands down best appetizer I've had. The burger was okay. Felt a little dry for my liking, but not bad overall. The server was really nice but then she just kind of disappeared. I was confused because she took our card to hold on file but didn't know if we needed to check out with her after? She kind of just left us there once our food was brought. They have a lot of self serve items up top but just confused us on the first time. Tacos could use some help. Why use spring mix as the lettuce for tacos. Take the proper step and use shredded iceberg. They also needed shredded cheese and more chopped tomato. Easy? Good drinks? Kid friendly? Foodie friendly? At first I wasn't sure what to expect out of a new business in the location that has seen many different restaurants over the years. I certainly wasn't expecting find such an incredible place. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, plenty of TVs for all of the sports lovers, board games, books, not to mention tons of drink options. The kids area is one of the things that keeps us coming back. Wrangle those kiddos up the stairs and you will be rewarded with the best indoor kids area I've seen around these parts. Playhouse, coloring, toys, Nintendo switch gaming area and so much more. My kids hardly come out of the kids zone while we are there. Now for my favorite part: the FOOD. As someone who is not a big drinker or beer connoisseur, the food at these places matters. I'm still dreaming about the Fontaine (w/ side salad/avocado ranch), but it it currently not on the menu...anywho, the special was great (cast iron enchilada), and I think the reef wrap is super bright and fresh--though it might benefit from a sesame dressing or wasabi ranch... Worst food I've had. Over priced as well. I had loaded tots, burger with onion rings, and a bottle of cupcake prosecco. Bill came to about $78 before tip. The tots are very small. Wasn't necessary however because the bartender came right over to us and took our order. Love the back bar area. It's quiet and a bit more intimate. The Fontaine and the craftsman were great! The tots were a little cold but overall we were really happy. Good flavors and great selection of beer. The bartender recommended a beer for me and nailed it. Stumbled into Dweller's Drinkery after a quick Petco run--then I crossed the parking lot and found a new hidden gem. They just opened a week or two ago June 2025. The staff was super friendly and got me set up outside so I could relax with my dog Ammie. They're very dog-friendly (outdoor seating only), with a covered gazebo, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs--perfect chill zone. I had a flight of their rotating beers (solid variety, over 30) that were great and offer seltzers and cider as well . The "Fish Fry" basket with tots was delicious light breading on the fish and tater tots cooked just right. Their tartar is the bomb, light was just the right amount of dill . The service was great and relatively speedy, we went right at 11am on a Saturday and they were not busy yet. The food was eventually excellent, my wrap was burnt when it first came out but they are called grilled wraps (or something like that) and I thought it was supposed to be burned (HA!) but alas no, my taste buds were correct...no burn should be taking place and the owner noticed and fixed it for us, and then ... a really good wrap was brought out and snarfed. I'm conflicted about this establishment. On one hand I want to give 1 star but on the other I want to give 5. I suppose the 1 is based on the daycare upstairs but that's the whole reason we went in the first place, so we could bring our 3yr old to play while we had a beer and some dinner. On a Friday at 5pm it was a madhouse of kiddos upstairs and I don't think I was fully prepared for that, plus parents didn't seem to give two s about watching their feral children. I'd like to see some sort of "rules" for parents to follow up there, leaving things up to society these days just doesn't work. My wife and I traded turns in the play area where we seemed to have to referee everyone's kids! This made it one star because it was so NOT relaxing!!! Now that's to my own demise I suppose.
