I would say best part of this place is their effort. They put in a lot of effort to build loyalty with customers and to get customersthrough social media and signs all over town. Unfortunately that can only take you so far. Once folks make it there it starts to be kinda dissapointing. Food is just OK and yes like so many others have said they really should just bite the bullet and make real fried fish, shrimp and clams from scratch. Seafood is just like that. Now Bennets in Westport makes real fish n chips and you definitely pay for it. Sadly im not sure if Monroe would pay those prices ( myself included) so maybe this is as good as it gets. So ok, make it like real fast food sell it that way. Have more deals, combos ...if its fast food prices dont reflect it now. Sell it for what it is. The food is so good, the staff is amazing, and it's the cutest little stop in Monroe! We went after the reptile zoo and they were surprisingly very kid friendly! They have coloring sheets, sand toys in front, and a claw machine game (costs $3). The kids meal is surprisingly pretty big for a toddler. My Shrimp Basket was delicious and came with a generous serving of crinkle-cut fries. We kept hearing about this place on Facebook so decided to give it a try. Cute little set up in what used to be a house. The staff are friendly and helpful. That said, the fries were good but the fish baskets we got were disappointing. There wasn't much flavor to them and I'm pretty sure they are taken from a freezer bag and dropped into the fryer. The clam strips were nothing but batter. It was kind of a cold day, so the doors were closed and the smokey air was tough to handle with my dry eyes. To start off, I am not a fish person, my kids and mother in law who opted to come here are. Upon entering this fine establishment you will notice very few spots to sit inside. The lady who helped us was super friendly and happy to help with any questions we had. When placing my order the one thing that caught my eye was the convenience fee they charge for all debit and credit charges. So if you do plan to visit I suggest bringing cash. If you plan to take your order the sign says 5% fee for bio friendly packaging. Often these charges upset me but luckily I had brought cash with me today snd we were planning to dine in. One of my boys ordered a kids fish and chips and he devoured it saying it was really good. My mother in law ordered a combo of fish and chips along with clam strips. To which was very much so to her satisfaction, she says she was very happy we visited this place. My other son who normally orders fish for some odd reason ordered chicken strips and chips kids meal, to which he says it was good. I on the other hand along with my wife wasn't all that hungry so we split a chicken strip and chips basket. Got the combo basket with two pieces of cod and shrimp, lots of crinkle cut fries, cole slaw, lemon wedge, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce for $16.98. Glad the fish was very moist. Even though it was not the classic style beer batter and fresh cut fries like places on the coast, it was still delicious and I ate everything. The clam chowder was a small size cup for $6.50 it comes in one size. It was very creamy and yummy with a decent amount of potatoes and clams. We saw this restaurant on our way home, but haven't had the chance to try it until today. We drove from Snohomish to check it out. When we got there, it felt like we were at a restaurant on the beach. They had cool beachy decor and a super cute outdoor patio seating, which we'll come back to eat out there come summertime. We orrdered the 3 piece fish and chips, the 9 piece shrimps and got a little side of mac and cheese and coleslaw. Highly recommend their Cajun seasoning cuz it was delicious!! Everyone's palate is different, and as you can see from other reviews, plenty of people seem to think this is out of this world fish and chips, but in my opinion, it's not different than what you can practically get at any other restaurant that offers them as part of their general menu, and that's where I rate 2 stars. If you're going to specialize your restaurant on one particular thing, you better be the best at it in comparison to restaurants that offer a variety of foods. Just not the case here in my opinion. Nothing was horrible by any means, just tasted like your run of the mill fish and chips out of the freezer. I always measure a restaurant by whether I feel compelled to go back again and I don't. Full disclosure, we recently experienced fish and chips up in Alaska and THAT was out of this world, and while I wouldn't expect a shop out of Monroe to compete with that, we're still in seafood country, so I was expecting a bit more. They charge a 3 percent credit card fee, regardless of the cost of your order and here is the real kicker that lowered my review stars.... They charge a 5 percent.... Yes 5... Fee for "eco packaging"..... So my meal comes out.... Ironically in a plastic basket... With a single piece of paper in it... My drink comes out in a normal cup.... Yet I'm getting charged a 5 percent fee? Perhaps for takeout, charge for packaging, but dine in, really? I saw some "eco packaging" for the bowl another person was eating soup out of...... But my meal didn't include this and my bill is more? If you as a company hop on that bandwagon... Go ahead.. but don't hide it outside your food prices... It's deceptive. Wife got a 2pc fish and chips. We both got a cup of chowder. Little taken back by the price, $56 pre tip but Had hopeful expectations. Grabbed a seat and food arrived shortly after sitting down. Nice. Looked pretty good but a little underwhelming. The chowder looked good but to me it had a weird almost chemical taste, I tried my wife's and found the same. She didn't taste it as much as I did but it was unappealing enough I left my $6 cup of what I believe was canned chowder un-eaten. The fish and class were mediocre. I don't believe they are fresh or hand battered etc. In my opinion, I think they are frozen. The class were actually good. Tartar was pretty good too as was the cocktail sauce.
