When we moved from Southern California to Washington, one of the things I missed most was authentic Mexican food. I tried a few spots around Bellevue, but honestly... nothing came close to what we had back home. Today, while driving toward Stevens Pass, I spotted this place and saw they had gluten-free options -- so of course, we had to stop and try it out. First impression: as soon as we walked in, I could smell the fresh cleaning solution -- and for me, that's always a good sign! The lady who greeted us was super sweet, and the young man who took our order was kind and polite. There was also a gentleman (maybe the owner?) who was incredibly welcoming. And the bathrooms? Spotless. Now let's talk about the food -- holy moly, it was GOOD. I ordered the steak fajitas with corn tortillas, rice, and all the yummy toppings. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. I also tried the cheese dip -- it was a little bland for my taste, but everything else more than made up for it. My husband ordered a seafood dish and was grinning from ear to ear the whole meal. Authentic, delicious, gluten-free friendly, and super clean -- this place is a hidden gem! Would I go back? It's a yes from me.

This place was enjoyed today for lunch. We were boring and both got the Chile verde burrito that is offered on lunch for 11.75. The beans and rice were standard but good. The verde sauce was on the tangier side but not necessarily in a bad way. The chips were fresh and the salsa is mild but solid. We didn't get served the pico or bean dip, so maybe they don't do that anymore or it's just for dinner. You can get items such as salads, fajitas, arroz con pollo and carne asada at lunch prices which is nice. The lunch menu is extensive and we really appreciated that. Service was friendly and the place is adorable inside too!

Cute little place with super yummy Mexican food. We had the chicken fajitas which were full of flavor. My 10 year old had a chicken taco, that she said was the best taco she ever had. The staff were super friendly and checked on us often. And the price was very reasonable for a really good lunch.

Great first experience here for supper on our way home from Stevens Pass ski day. Greeted with a smile around 4:45 PM and fresh chips and salsa delivered quickly. I had the Arroz Con Polla and my wife the Super Nachos. See photos, but generous portions including extra chips when requested. The Cadillac Margharita and the house Margharita were both tasty. Note- double was only $1 more. The restaurant continued to fill while we were dining. From the 4 tables including our being filled upon arrival, all tables were filled and folks waiting outside for a table at 5:45 when we departed. Great food and not too spicy, so be prepared to add hot sauce or jalapeño if desired. We will definitely be back and now have a local Mexican Food favorite easily accessible in downtown Monroe only a couple blocks off of Highway 2.

Their food is quite good. I couldn't tell you if it's authentic because I am not native or familiar with it. But the taste is fantastic. We've come here for years. The service is always excellent, it is clean, and the food is always hot and tasty.

The best Molcajete I've found in the Northwest!! *dear yelp, we don't have time for long reviews, we just want to know if we'll get food poisoning or not.

go to mexican restaraunt, in small little town. a small little place, that feels like home. we've been coming here for years, & the owner treats us like family :) so kind & welcoming, boasting with joy as he greets us. the lively music, the amazing smells of various hispanic dishes, the quick environment is riveting! a joyous place to sit down & have a meal with family, to celebrate, or to even just have a little lunch date. the food here is fresh & made with hard work, pride, & love. if your looking fresh & authentic food that will fill not just your stomach, but your soul, come on down !!

How nice that Monroe has such a solid Mexican restaurant. The staff is great! Great service with a warm attitude. The chips, salsas, and warm bean dip that arrive at the table are fresh and hard to stop eating. That bean dip is surprisingly good. I had the camarones a la Diablo, and I loved the spicy and smokey sauce and the mushrooms it contained. Everyone enjoyed their meals from a lunch combo to the fajitas to a burrito. We were too full to have dessert. But after walking around historic little Monroe and stopping in a few shops, we swung back and got churros to go. Finished our walk munching hot, crispy churros (ok, couldn't enjoy the dipping sauces that way - but we didn't miss them! A lovely lunch and afternoon.

The food is great!! From the tortilla chips and salsa and bean dip that is put on the table as soon as you sit down, to the cheese dip (a little zippy spice but super good) and the delicious gigantic portions! We ordered arroz con pollo and the enchiladas crema. Large portions, piping hot temperature, delicious all around. Very nice friendly service. Server, host, cashier and assistants. All nice and attentive. They do serve beer and margaritas as well. Next time you are looking for a filling home cooked Mexican meal in Monroe, Las Tres Maria's is the place to go!!

I tried the Pollo à la Diablo and instead of being spicy it was sweet. Total fail. I will say, though the queso dip was good.

As I was chilling and eating an impromptu breakfast I was looking at the strip mall style food area and Taqueria El Rey caught my eye. I love tacos. And they had the meat I almost judge very taqueria on heavily: Tripas. So I was still before opening time so I just let my quick breakfast marinate and digest and hung out in the parking lot for a bit. And as it hit closer to opening time I was a little nervous cuz I had yet to see any movement inside but sure enough close to five minutes before opening I saw a lady move around and then turned the sign on and opened the door. It was early but I had waited long enough lol. I got out and as solan as she turned around for the counter I was ready. I ordered two tripas, carne asada, carnitas and a buche. Water and a can of coke to wash it down with. It came with a side of chips and salad which was alright. The salsa was nothing special but I finished it with some chips left over. When the tacos came you could feel they just left the heat which is always a good sign. I doused them in a little salt and lime and I used the verse sauce. They hit the spot. The tripas had a good sheen of fat and gristle but weren't crispy like I really wanted but they sufficed. The carnitas were ok. Same it's the buche and asada. As hard as it is to find tripas and then have the tripas be stellar it's almost as hard to find good asada these days but nonetheless it was a good meal. The counter person was the same waitress. She was very nice and attentive enough. I finished my food and gave my customary thank you and have great day and she have the same sentiment of welcome and you too. If you're I town and feeling tacos give Taqueria El Rey a try.

The deck off the back of the restaurant was fantastic, I just wished anything would have matched that energy. We ordered 2 jalapeno Margaritas, and 2 "fresh natural" margaritas. They brought out chips and salsa and beans to us following our orders. The salsa I am not sure how it qualify as salsa. It was more like a can of stewed tomatoes. No spice, no flavor. The beans were the same. Plain, nothing to them. While fajitas had been walked by many times we opted not to get food. After letting the server know we were not ordering food, I believe the manager came over to ask if everything was ok. We were like yeah, we just came by for drinks. Both the server and the manager seemed annoyed after that. After receiving our drinks they were to be nice, just plain disappointing. Jalapeño margaritas are my drink of choice and this one fell well short of the mark. There were jalapeños in it, but there was zero spice and a very strong flavor of just the margarita mix. My wife enjoyed her fresh margarita, but upon receiving the bill the fresh margarita was a $4 add on for the fresh lime juice? $65 for 4 margaritas in pounder glasses. Maybe it's because they were not good that I find that as steep. Thanks Monroe El Paraiso, we won't be back. I wasn't going to bother to write a review, but when you get treated different for not ordering food, something is wrong with the establishment. Two stars just for the view

Most of the time, you're just paying for a lukewarm tortilla and a dream. Then I found Mi Tierra, and hope finally returned. First off, the ambiance is so authentic that I halfway expected a relative I've never met to walk out of the kitchen and ask why I haven't called. The place is decorated like a true Hacienda, and honestly, the décor does some heavy lifting--it's like the stucco walls and rustic charm trick your taste buds into believing you've just crossed the border, even if it's actually 40 degrees and raining outside. As for the food: it's spectacular. In a land where "spicy" often just means either "we added an extra grain of black pepper," or "we added uranium", Mi Tierra serves actual, authentic flavor. Whether it's the rich sauces or the well seasoned meats, eating here feels like a victory over the bland Mexican-food desert we call the Pacific Northwest. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable. You get a massive portion of "real-deal" food without having to sell a kidney or take out a second mortgage. If you want to stop eating "tacos" that taste like sadness and disappointment and start eating like you're on vacation, get yourself to Mi Tierra. You may want to check out their menu on the Mi Tierra Official Website to plan your escape from mediocre salsa and to avoid the feeling that you are sitting for a test that you havent studied for as the wait staff can be pretty fast to take your order

I found the enchiladas to be very odd. They had no cheese in them, just spinach mushroom onions. And barely any sauce. It was like a salad inside a tortilla. I wanted wayyy more cheese. My fiance got a burrito and it was half the size as the one at table next to us so he was bummed but said it was good.
