When we moved from Southern California to Washington, one of the things I missed most was authentic Mexican food. I tried a few spots around Bellevue, but honestly... nothing came close to what we had back home. Today, while driving toward Stevens Pass, I spotted this place and saw they had gluten-free options -- so of course, we had to stop and try it out. First impression: as soon as we walked in, I could smell the fresh cleaning solution -- and for me, that's always a good sign! The lady who greeted us was super sweet, and the young man who took our order was kind and polite. There was also a gentleman (maybe the owner?) who was incredibly welcoming. And the bathrooms? Spotless. Now let's talk about the food -- holy moly, it was GOOD. I ordered the steak fajitas with corn tortillas, rice, and all the yummy toppings. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. I also tried the cheese dip -- it was a little bland for my taste, but everything else more than made up for it. My husband ordered a seafood dish and was grinning from ear to ear the whole meal. Authentic, delicious, gluten-free friendly, and super clean -- this place is a hidden gem! Would I go back? It's a yes from me.

This place was enjoyed today for lunch. We were boring and both got the Chile verde burrito that is offered on lunch for 11.75. The beans and rice were standard but good. The verde sauce was on the tangier side but not necessarily in a bad way. The chips were fresh and the salsa is mild but solid. We didn't get served the pico or bean dip, so maybe they don't do that anymore or it's just for dinner. You can get items such as salads, fajitas, arroz con pollo and carne asada at lunch prices which is nice. The lunch menu is extensive and we really appreciated that. Service was friendly and the place is adorable inside too!

Cute little place with super yummy Mexican food. We had the chicken fajitas which were full of flavor. My 10 year old had a chicken taco, that she said was the best taco she ever had. The staff were super friendly and checked on us often. And the price was very reasonable for a really good lunch.

Great first experience here for supper on our way home from Stevens Pass ski day. Greeted with a smile around 4:45 PM and fresh chips and salsa delivered quickly. I had the Arroz Con Polla and my wife the Super Nachos. See photos, but generous portions including extra chips when requested. The Cadillac Margharita and the house Margharita were both tasty. Note- double was only $1 more. The restaurant continued to fill while we were dining. From the 4 tables including our being filled upon arrival, all tables were filled and folks waiting outside for a table at 5:45 when we departed. Great food and not too spicy, so be prepared to add hot sauce or jalapeño if desired. We will definitely be back and now have a local Mexican Food favorite easily accessible in downtown Monroe only a couple blocks off of Highway 2.

Their food is quite good. I couldn't tell you if it's authentic because I am not native or familiar with it. But the taste is fantastic. We've come here for years. The service is always excellent, it is clean, and the food is always hot and tasty.

Great service with a smile, good value for the lunch special (variety, portion for the price, and mediocre flavors like every small town we end up in after hiking), and in the historic area of Monroe (off the main drag by a block). I have eaten there a few times now because it is easy for most hiking compadres and a reasonable price, but I think I'm over it after having a mediocre burrito and a blech chile relleno -- sauce tasted like it had soured. Price or not, it doesn't quite hit the spot and is one of the rare exceptions to my statement of "it's fairly hard to make Mexican food bad..." This isn't "bad" per se, but it isn't great. I'll still branch out and try new places after that last ick. Bottom line: Leaves much to be desired even when post-hike ravenous.

How nice that Monroe has such a solid Mexican restaurant. The staff is great! Great service with a warm attitude. The chips, salsas, and warm bean dip that arrive at the table are fresh and hard to stop eating. That bean dip is surprisingly good. I had the camarones a la Diablo, and I loved the spicy and smokey sauce and the mushrooms it contained. Everyone enjoyed their meals from a lunch combo to the fajitas to a burrito. We were too full to have dessert. But after walking around historic little Monroe and stopping in a few shops, we swung back and got churros to go. Finished our walk munching hot, crispy churros (ok, couldn't enjoy the dipping sauces that way - but we didn't miss them! A lovely lunch and afternoon.

I tried the Pollo à la Diablo and instead of being spicy it was sweet. Total fail. I will say, though the queso dip was good.

When it got brought out, the consume and tacos were huge, and I mean huge. Personally, I didn't think it was the best quality quesabirria but it was pretty good value. The lengua tacos were also really good too. The restaurant was empty but it was filled with life, which Mexican music playing and soccer games/news playing on the TV. It would be cool to come here again when it's busier.

The deck off the back of the restaurant was fantastic, I just wished anything would have matched that energy. We ordered 2 jalapeno Margaritas, and 2 "fresh natural" margaritas. They brought out chips and salsa and beans to us following our orders. The salsa I am not sure how it qualify as salsa. It was more like a can of stewed tomatoes. No spice, no flavor. The beans were the same. Plain, nothing to them. While fajitas had been walked by many times we opted not to get food. After letting the server know we were not ordering food, I believe the manager came over to ask if everything was ok. We were like yeah, we just came by for drinks. Both the server and the manager seemed annoyed after that. After receiving our drinks they were to be nice, just plain disappointing. Jalapeño margaritas are my drink of choice and this one fell well short of the mark. There were jalapeños in it, but there was zero spice and a very strong flavor of just the margarita mix. My wife enjoyed her fresh margarita, but upon receiving the bill the fresh margarita was a $4 add on for the fresh lime juice? $65 for 4 margaritas in pounder glasses. Maybe it's because they were not good that I find that as steep. Thanks Monroe El Paraiso, we won't be back. I wasn't going to bother to write a review, but when you get treated different for not ordering food, something is wrong with the establishment. Two stars just for the view

I found the enchiladas to be very odd. They had no cheese in them, just spinach mushroom onions. And barely any sauce. It was like a salad inside a tortilla. I wanted wayyy more cheese. Looking at the menu, it was hard to tell if it was in fact the same family restaurant, so I opted for my usual cheese enchiladas. The food took a while to arrive, despite it being after the lunch hour and the place being relatively empty, and it was very bland. I'm not sure how to describe it other than the food tasted almost stale like my tortillas weren't fresh. I was so hungry I forced myself to eat it, I'm just hoping I don't regret this decision later. While all of us cleared our plates, none of us thought the food was especially good. It was very much "okay at best". Glancing at the menu there weren't evident vegetarian options, so I asked our server who said their beans were vegetarian but rice was not. The complimentary chips and salsa were really tasty - the chips were warm and crisp, the salsa was tasty, and they even gave refried beans as an extra dip. The refried beans were extremely good and worked better as a chip dip than I expected, and it made me think that other mexican restaurants should give beans as a chip dip! I got a 2 item combo - enchilada + burrito - and it was very good value too; much cheaper than some places in the Seattle area. It came with rice and a choice of beans, and I liked the beans they gave for dip so much I asked to get refried beans (normal side is pinto beans).
