Reviews seem quite mixed so I stupidly decided to try for myself. An unbelievable waste of $60. I should've gone to Memo's in Everett instead. Would've paid $20 for the same meal and it would've been bomb. I am actually surprised at how bad this food was. The enchilada was meh but that was probably the best part. Everything else was barely flavored and gave me cafeteria nachos vibes. Idk... I'm sad about it. It's less than a mile from our new house so I had big dreams for finding great Mexican near home. Hah. First wife was brought out the wrong food and told them but was asked if she could just eat it , then o ordered a combo fajita steak , chicken and when it came was mostly onions and had 4 little strips of steak and 2 pieces of chicken and ended with a bill of.85.00. This is an amazing little gem in Snohomish we stopped at on a whim. Luis, Yenna and the entire staff are so very friendly and personable, we felt like we were dining at home. The food is fabulous! We live in Kent and have't had great Mexican tasting food since we were in Cancun 15 years ago. Their pico de gallo and guac are freshly made with flavorful ingredients! We had their fajitas for two and three could easily dine with the portions. I certainly wish Ixtapa was closer to home, but we will definitely be back as soon as we can! Used to be our go to place, however in the last year I've caught them overcharging 3 times (by 15-25$ on 2 meals). Each time I confronted them and they acted put out about it, almost with a smirk on their face. The stuff we ordered was tasteless dog food. we love this place! my husband since he caught covid has had a issue with hot sauce and cilantro and it is my favorite food, I had a bite of my son in laws pollo fun dido at Azteca i loved it.i started researching who might have the dish. Snohomish Ixtapa was the only place i found. it was so much better than Azteca .my husband loves their chimichanga's burritos and loves their hot sauce Pico .their mild sauce is great! beans and rice are awesome we have ate there every weekend for the last 5 months! While the food quality is good, and the service is fast, I noticed something odd when I got my credit card statement. I noticed that at least twice, they charged more than what I had written on the receipt. I guess they didn't think my 15% tip was enough. We just had lunch at 11am outside. The food is delicious and the Pico is home made. We brought a pinata and ate chips and salsa while we played with it. Delicious food...real and sooo fresh. We go there every few months. Well worth the drive. Outside can be noisy, as it is right on Rte 9, but again worth it. read more

Absolutely terrible! $70 in food and threw all of it away. Can't remember the last time I had food this bad. Chicken fajitas we way over seasoned and cooked. Couldn't even eat it. The deep fried ice cream had nothing on it. It was supposed to have chocolate or strawberry syrup and whip cream and the Chile Verde is probably one of the most disgusting things I ever tasted. Disappointing. I was looking for a new/different Mexican restaurant in the area and thought I would give this a try since they have been around for a while. I got my food to go and it was basically like warm even though I picked it up when they said it would be ready. I ordered a chili rellano with a chicken enchilada and the usual rice & beans. Very average. Rellano was decent made the way I like them with the egg batter but the enchilada was dry. My biggest issue was with the chili pablano that I order in addition. Chunks of unmelted cheese on the inside was a definite miss. Probably not going back. Why is it so hard to find a good solid, not over priced Mexican restaurant in the area? Frustrating. FRIED SHRIMP TACOS!! I enjoy good fish tacos! Sometimes I am hesitant to order them...because I've eaten enough of them to know that restaurants don't always get it "right" - sometimes the fish doesn't taste fresh, or it's watery (like it was cooked from frozen), sometimes I am disappointed with the portion size, and/or the ratio of fish to cabbage slaw. And sometimes they claim to serve it with a "spicy" aioli...and I can't figure out where the "spice" is. Well...let me tell you. Ixtapa's Fried Shrimp Tacos are NOT a disappointment. For $13.99 - you get two very LARGE tacos, and a huge portion of beans and rice. The fried shrimp is coated in some sort of cajun spice, and they do not "skimp" when adding the shrimp to your taco. it is topped with a spicy crema fresca sauce, pickled onions, and cabbage. Your taste buds will be so excited that you actually are eating something with a nice texture and "kick" to it. Our service was s.l.o.w. - When that happens, our family likes to pass the time by playing trivia, or charades (no...we don't get out of our seat and mimic things in the aisles). Usually there is a bonus at Mexican restaurants (i.e. chips and salsa) - their house salsa...is SPICY and I could eat gobs of it. We also ordered two appetizers - the no name (that's right...it's called NO NAME) Deep small fried chicken burritos, served with melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and tomatoes. We always order this appetizer, and our kids (ages 8 & 4) share this as their meal. - We usually have leftovers, and our kids can't wait to eat them again. $11.99 We also ordered the nachos, each and every chip has ample toppings - some restaurants just pile a bunch of chips on a plate, and then sprinkle the toppings on the top chips...leaving a whole bunch of chips at the bottom - topless, and soggy. Not the case with these nachos. Toppings were generous, and the flavor was delicious. $10.95...but, we were charged a little extra because we asked if we could have chorizo added. :) read more

Good customer service. Smaller portions and priced more compared to other local restaurants. Food wasn't all that great either.

Although the servers were very friendly our entire family was just not impressed with this restaurant. As soon as we walked to the front door, a worker was outside smoking on the patio and the smoke smell was so strong. The food was pretty bland and high priced for what you get. My parents ordered nachos to share and it really was a small serving. My burrito was pretty plain and small. I mean, I did get full but usually we have leftovers to take home for a cheaper price but we paid quite a bit more than other restaurants in our area and didn't have leftovers. I was hoping we would like it because it's so close to where we live but I think we will continue driving to Woodinville to go to Mi Tierra instead. I don't think we will be back to this restaurant but i do wish the employees well as we did have good service. It just wasn't enough to make up for the quality and price. read more

I've been to this particular restaurant three or four times, and got take out twice. I think the food tastes good, I especially enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup. The employees are friendly, although sometimes the service is not as attentive as I would hope-being a waitress myself. I think it's probably a little bit overpriced for the taste. I'm not impressed with the ambience of the restaurant, it's decorated kind of like a bad set for a elementary school play. Pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, but for the price of the food I would expect it to look a little nicer. I suspect The building is on the older side. read more

BEST FAJITAS IN WASHINGTON! My husband and I split the fajitas for two at least twice a month. There's nothing quite like hearing your food sizzling before you see it! The flavors are fresh and spicy, the portions are huge and the staff are the sweetest you'll ever meet. Your basket of chips will never be empty and your drink will always be full. I highly recommend trying some of their various flavors of margaritas- so delish (and strong!) One of these days I will try something other than the fajitas or save room for dessert. The last time I went there I got the tacos al carbon and they were well seasoned crispy tasty street style tacos served with beans and rice (the usual sides). The chips and salsa always go down well. Instead, we got overpriced, blended service, no ambience (as in no background music), and though I wanted to sit outside the highway traffic right next to the outdoor seating pretty much rules that out as an attractive option. Food portions were smaller than expected, and not as tasty as they should be, and there were no sauces on the table to make them any better. There was no check back by the waiter when I needed a refill, though he did give me one to go. This is a small Mexican restaurant located near Bothell, off of Highway 9 and 180th St SE. I finally talked my family to go with me and try it out, and we are all glad we did. First, there is a comment on another review about the food not being tasty. I totally disagree. Let me walk you through our dinner experience! We arrived on a Friday evening, around 7:45. The restaurant was busy, but not packed, and we were led to a table in the back, after being greeted with a smile by a nice host. The restaurant isn't large. There are about 14 booths that seat 4 customers, as well as a small amount of tables, with larger ones for big parties in the back. After being seated and given menus, we were promptly served chips and salsa (and water). The chips were warm and the salsa was spicy! No bland salsa here, this had a little bite. (Not burning hot, but enough bite to notice.) The waitress soon came and took our drink orders. My wife and I love jalapeno margaritas, and we were pleased to see this drink on the menu. There are only a few places where we really enjoyed their version of this drink, and now we found another. The drink was sweet and spicy, and had small chunks of jalapeno pieces floating around. I was really enjoying washing down the spicy chips and salsa with this spicy drink. They also had Mac n Jack on tap, as well as a variety of Mexican beers. My wife and I ordered the carne asada, and it was prepared and delivered as ordered (medium) quickly. The steak was served with fried onions on top, which both my wife and I really enjoyed. At $15, it was a much better deal than a similar dish at The Outback. My son had a 2-item combination plate, with flautas and a mini burrito. Both plates were served with beans and rice, and the steak came with guacamole and corn or flour tortillas, everything served hot. My son had to wait a few minutes for his food to cool! We passed on the dessert, and took plenty of leftovers home. The drinks, food and service deserve 5 stars, but the atmosphere was your typical Mexican restaurant. Since there are no 4.5 star options, I am awarding 5 stars. read more
