Food was great! I was very impressed with everything we ordered. Gran mocajete was $49 and delicious. Sauce had a good kick. Queso fundido was large and tasty. Carne asada was better than most I've had. Meals come with salad or chicken and vegetable soup. Even the kids quesadilla didn't skimp on the cheese. The reviews were right! I'll be brief, the Molcajete was FANTASTIC, meats were to die for, prawns were SCRUMPTIOUS and the sauce was YUMMY and spicy! Also got the Quesa Birria plate (because the reviews were great on these too) and they were AWESOME! Meat was great, Consume was FANTASTIC!! Definitely going there again, going to use up my limit of Groupons!!! Then have my wife but some!!! We entered to have lunch at an odd time of day (around 2:30), so, for awhile, we were the only customers. Upon entering, I noticed there were bars on all of the windows and doors. This made me sad for the owners and is a testament to the location rather than the business itself. The service was good. Both hostess and waiter were attentive. I don't recall being "blown away" by the food I ordered but I also don't recall being dissatisfied. I ordered takeout last Friday for dinner we've been here before so I wanted to try something different which turned out to the Three Mariners Enchiladas plus my usual three Lengua street tacos. Both meals included beans and rice and a chicken soup. Now the enchiladas come with shrimp, scallops,and calamari rolled up in flour tortillas covered with a verde crème sauce it was so delicious I finished it without getting a picture oops sorry, the three proteins were cooked but not over cooked. The sauce was a little spicy but not hot. I did get one of the street tacos which were so good as well. The rice and beens round a nice meal. Service wise my order was ready when my wife arrived and nothing was left out so no complaints. They've been consistent with their quality I recommend them to anyone. read more

In short Family-style place with lots of familiar items on the menu, all made exceptionally well with fresh ingredients. They're justifiably known for their carne. In long We were headed north for a leisurely drive with another destination in mind for lunch, and I-5 traffic reared its ugly head. It so often does. Waze routed us through town, and our ETA never got any closer, so we ended up stumbling straight into a place we now feel silly for not noticing sooner. They've been here a couple years already. They're in a little old house that's kinda easy to drive by and just not notice, but it's worth a stop to say the least. They have tons of parking right outside, which not every place on Broadway can say. You walk across a concrete patio, then you actually have to turn the doorknob to step inside, so it has a quirky combination of business and residential touches before you even get in. Inside, 3 dining rooms seat probably 20-24 people each, separated by low dividing walls. It's easy to imagine this place getting swamped for the dinner hour and on Sundays. Service is quick and friendly, and it'll probably help if you don't push the 5-cent English words too much (more on that in a second). We knew they had a crazy breakfast menu all day, including some American dishes, but we were here very much to see what the traditional Mexican stuff was about. We had chips and salsa right away, with some awesome smoky, spicier salsa showing up on request a minute later. We got a Piña Colada and a Seahawks margarita after a couple minutes. The marg has curaçao in it to change the color. Both were clearly made from scratch mixes with more sourness to the marg and sweet creaminess to the Piña Colada that just won't come from a bottle off the shelf. We each got carne asada; one plate with chilaquiles and one with spicy shrimp. The chilaquiles plate comes with 2 eggs as well, and is only $15. The shrimp combo was worth it at $27 (you get a bit bigger steak on that plate). The carne is amazing. Great fresh grilled flavor, and so much thicker than most places serve it. Seemed more like a flatiron steak than a skirt. At least 1/4" thick and perfectly medium rare. The chilaquiles had great crispness still intact around the edges--even taken home and re-heated the next day, they still had more crunch than most places can get to the plate at first service. So good. The shrimp had tons of flavor along with the heat in the diabla sauce. Everything on each plate was in amazing shape--guac, rice, beans, extra salsas (not exactly like the ones served with the chips), it all worked together and added something to the meal. At one point we were joking about spices and margaritas on the table, and our absolutely awesome friendly server misunderstood and thought we wanted another drink. So we "ordered" a jalapeño margarita that turned out to be delicious. One of the happiest misunderstandings I've had in a while. So I'd keep sentences short and clear and make sure nobody feels self-conscious about their English vocab, unless you're like me and don't mind hanging out an extra few minutes if you accidentally order something more. read more

This place was great! The Gran Molcajete for 2 was amazing. So big that it will be a meal for 2 at least twice with all the great leftovers. It included perfectly cooked steak, chicken, two kinds of shrimp, sausage, nopolo, cheese, and probably more that I can't remember all grilled to perfection and served in a sizzling caldron with a delicious slightly spicy sauce. Service was helpful and friendly. Our waiter told us that her mom is the cook. Well, her mom is an incredible cook! Great family run place! Delicious salsa too. First off, the food is rich in flavor and is of good quality. This time around I ordered the chicken fajitas-- a staple for me-- and the vegetables were so fresh and the chicken was abundant (it ends up being too much food, which is nice because I get to save it for lunch the day after). I love Mexican food and have been to many places, and no place has quality meat like this place does. My only gripe is that the beans have changed and are a little watery now. I'll probably be getting black beans instead of the standard refried beans moving forward, but they still have decent flavor regardless! The service is quick and the staff is attentive. The restaurant is well kept, decorated, and clean-- though not as streamlined or chain-centric as other Mexican restaurants (more of a ma and pa aesthetic, if you can picture that). Overall, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant-- and for all you steak lovers out there, I recommend ordering the carne asada y diablo, or any steak dish for that matter. For a Saturday night and all the good reviews I expected this place to be busier. There were only a few people in there. The service was inattentive. For a $5 coke it should never be empty. The food had great reviews but we were left with what tasted like store bought tortillas, dry rice and watery beans. Mediocre at best. However the meat, both the Al pastor and the Carne Asada, were very good. If there ever was a place where "Looks can be deceiving," this most certainly is near the top of the list. When we arrived the parking lot was dimly lit and a giant Thai restaurant sign hung above La Ruleta. We could hardly see the smaller banner on the restaurants exterior. The place has bars on the windows and a barred door to cover the entrance/exit at closing. Inside is your standard booths and tables where each has one small little decorative ornament hung appropriately with a thumbtack. Ours had a little heart. Although the specials all sounded amazing my fiancè and air ordered a small taco plate with one taco, rice and beans and the enchiladas a La crema. My taco was completely loaded with deliciously cooked Al pastor. The avocado sauce that came on my fiancès enchiladas was worthy of licking the plate. Peculiarly, my spicy margarita came in a little clay pot. Yes, a real clay pot. It was actually very charming. Not only was the food amazing but our server was wonderful. 10/10. I originally was looking for a breakfast burrito, but found this place up on north Broadway that I found on Google.The place was empty at around 10am on Monday, but I was greeted and seated within seconds. I ended up ordering a breakfast scramble (I believe it was the Everett scrambke) consulting if eggs, ham, onions, cheese, and mushrooms with hash brows and wheat toast. Ok people I went back with my son for another taco Tuesday and this time the chips and fresh salsa went just as fast. Last time I had carnitas and this time I went with the carne asada (steak)street tacos. Same as last time the service was great and surrounding were just what you would expect from a Mexican cantina style eatery.They had sports on the TV music playing and not to loud so we could enjoy our meal and conversation.The steak tacos came with lime wedges, radishes and sauce on the side. Sorry folks my appetite got the best of me but my intention was to take a pic. I promise next week when I go for the chicken tacos I will take one. I have a few mixed feelings about this place. On one hand the food was AMAZING! Everything we ordered was delicious other than the chicken nuggets for my children. They were gross. I assume they were frozen which makes since it's a kids meal but it was not good. Not a big deal, overall the food was great. My only hesitation with going back was the art in the wall. Overall great and beautiful but there was one piece with a woman's breast hanging out. I get it's art but not very family friendly, especially with little children.
