In short Clean, bright, friendly family-style Mexican place. Full bar, plenty of TVs. In long I definitely miss the awesome Thai place that used to be here, but Luna offsets that nostalgia. They're doing a great job. There's a cool courtyard, with iron fencing and gating that seems to suit the Mexican decor even better than it did the previous tenant. There's a good-sized winding dining room indoors too. Brightly-colored paint, nice matching tables and chairs, some big screens probably tuned to the game. Service is right on point, cheerful and low-key, ready to make you feel right at home. You get a menu right away, water with chips and salsa in a minute or two. The drink menu isn't the main focus, but you get basic versions of most anything. I had a Luna Margarita with lots of fresh fruit in there--even had to clear the straw at one point. The chips and salsa are generic. Just pico and tomato sauce stirred up. Would be nice to see them make something in house, but not too many places do that (fewer than you might think). The carne seems to be the star of the show, and it was tasty. Ordered medium and came out closer to well, but still fully tender and juicy. Tortillas were fine, the roast corn and scallions were good, and the rice and beans held up their end of the bargain. Little bit of guac and fresca in the middle of the plate. They're working hard for your Mexican food dollar, and if you're anywhere nearby, they're easily worth a stop. read more

We went here for a double date last night! Hostess was super friendly and accommodating as we walked in and asked if we prefer a booth vs table so we picked a booth! She took us to the back which featured a bar area and twinkling lights on the ceiling! Loved the plants and decors on the wall. Our server was so attentive and kind! Me and my girl friend's husband ordered the Mar Y Tierra, thinly cut steak with garlic shrimp and mushrooms on the slide with rice, refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and choice of corn or flour tortillas! The steak was my favorite -- so juicy, tender and flavorful! They have a great variety of drinks! I got the watermelon basil margarita. They also have Jarritos soda which, my girl friend tried the guava and it was good! You have to get here before peak or you may not get a parking spot. They do have parking at the back but I bet if it's a peak night, it'll be crowded. We will definitely be back next time! read more

My wife and I finally stopped into Luna after what seemed an extremely long time under construction. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Credit cards are accepted with a 3% surcharge added to the transaction. Indoors is open and spacious and can easily accommodate large parties. Outdoor seating is also available during the nicer months. Luna does not offer a lounge/bar, happy hour or draft beer. Complimentary chips and salsa are provided to munch on while looking over the menu. The chips and salsa were decent; however, I prefer a spicier salsa. I had a bottle of Negra Modelo for $6. My wife had a Luna Margarita for $12.99. Drink prices are not listed on the menu. Unsure why that is. My wife ordered the One Item Combo for $12.99: Chicken Tamale (the only kind offered), rice, beans and Pico de Gallo. I ordered the Luna Burrito for $19.99: flour tortilla with ground beef, rice and beans. Covered in burrito sauce and melted cheese. Served with sour cream and Pico de Gallo. Portion sizes are comparable to other nearby Mexican restaurants. Prices are higher than usual. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, I'm glad we stopped into Luna. If we decide on Luna again, it will be for take-out rather than dine-in. I prefer Mexican restaurants that offer a lounge and such. read more

It seems that the owners of Luna actually listen to customer feedback on yelp. When I came in tonight the chips and salsa did not cost extra (which is something the only 1 star review called out). I also didnt notice a service fee for using my card. The TV was playing ESPN (Yay dodgeball and college basketball) but the volume was off. This place is super cute and I can't wait to check out the outdoor seating this summer. The food was really good, and while it seems expensive (what place isn't these days?) the pricing is actually fairly comparable to other sit down Mexican restaurants in the area. Yes the portions are smaller than other places but the food is really good, tastes much fresher, and is a heck of a lot less greasy. I'd rather pay a little more and not feel bloated and lethargic leaving the restaurant. As for the portion sizes my daughter and I shared the meal (3 tacos each) and still had enough to bring one home. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is that our server asked if we wanted guacamole with the chips and salsa before I had a chance to review the menu ($9.99), but it was really good and fresh so I'm not mad. I just wish I would have been informed of the cost ahead of time (I hate tomatoes in my guac, so I probably would have skipped it). read more

Very happy find. Feels like we are back in Baja. Food is de-lic-ious! authentic Mexican food. Hearty portions. Excellent flavors. Fresh and served hot hot hot. Good ambience. The music can be loud, but they happily turn it down when asked. Bring cash to avoid the 3% credit card fee. The service is also good. It's nice to see service isn't dead everywhere. The servers work hard here juggling more than just taking orders. You can tell their job matters to them and they take pride in where they work. We have been seeing great ratings for this place and decided to try it out. We came in around 4pm on a Sunday. There were no cars in the parking lot or any customers inside. Their decor is simple and pretty. The large windows allow for great lighting. They also have an outside patio that would be great for the summer. We got sat by the window and got chips and salsa immediately. We ordered the Tamarindo Margarita, and the Pollo Asada Fajitas. The Margarita was not too sweet, and had the Tamarind rim. The fajitas came out sizzling. The portions were large and we were able to split between the 2 of us perfectly. We asked for hot sauce as the fajitas were mild. The hot sauce was a spicy Chipotle style. It had a delayed spice to it, but added the spice we were looking for. We got 7 tortillas out of the serving size. Our service was great. She was very accommodating as we could not have dairy on our meal, and when we asked for a couple more tortillas and the hot sauce. Definitely worth a try. read more

Although it was busy, the servers kept up and were friendly as could be. I loved my spicy mango margarita and sweetie enjoyed a skinny marg. Great menu - food and drink options are excellent. I have been here a total of 3 times and food has never disappointed!! Their Choriqueso tastes like Mexico's chorizo. My favorite thing to get is a Campechana and I like to order it cold. The good: Nicely decorated restaurant, with plants on each table. Lovely outside patio. Brian my server, was attentive and kind. Clear he has pride in this restaurant. Very clean, including the restrooms. The not so good: I ordered the tacos pastor with chicken. These came with three tacos and a very small amount of dry cubed chicken. About 1/4th of a cup total of chicken for three tacos. The small amount of chicken was overwhelmed by the two tortillas for each taco. This made it very dry. The tacos did come with two small slices of avocado, a tablespoon of pico de gallo, a small amount of raw onion and two lime wedges. Not a fan of the raw onion. I added these to my tacos to remedy the dryness, but these small amounts did not change the dryness. The tacos come with a small amount of rather bland beans and a small scoop of equally bland rice. I added my salsa from my chips and salsa, which did help add some flavor. As I used all the condiments for just one taco, I got the rest to go. Also ordered a flan to go. The flan was basic. The whipped cream sauce did give it a boost of flavor. I live in Shoreline and have eaten at the Santa Fe restaurant located there. Brian told me that they own that restaurant also. It clicked, as in my review of Santa Fe, I was disappointed with the lack of meat in my dishes there. If you come here, I recommend having just drinks on the pretty outside patio. read more

First off, all of the waiters and waitresses were absolutely amazing. They were very attentive and took great care of us. Their friendly attitude really set the tone for this restaurant. The place was nice and clean, with pretty decor. As for the food, their chips and salsa were flavorful. Guacamole was very simple, with chopped avocados as opposed to smashed but we still enjoyed it. I ordered the surf and turf which was very tasty! The shrimp was great quality, sautéed with garlicky mushrooms which paired well with my medium cooked carne. I let him know that it was not his fault so no apologies needed and that we thought it was delicious, just a little lukewarm. I was a waitress for about 10 years, so I always have my eye open for top quality experiences and this would definitely be in my top 10, closer to top 5, of the best customer service experiences I have had at Washington restaurants. At the end of the meal, I let him know how great the experience was and his genuine appreciation for OUR appreciation of him, was so heart felt. This restaurant is one that I truly feel that they are in business because they have the passion and love that overflows within them and they want to pour it back to other people! Excellent service, very nice little place, AMAZING burritos. I've seen a couple reviews complain the portion size was small. Uh, what?! I haven't seen a bigger burrito since Gorditos' "baby-sized" burritos. There must have been at least a half pound of delicious marinated pork in each, and so delicious! All the garnishes were wonderful too. The dishes I saw go to other tables looked huge and amazing as well. Maybe a few items were a couple dollars more than other places, but I also saw dishes on the menu I've never seen before, and the basics were priced comparable to your neighborhood mexican place. Based on what we got tonight, Luna is a huge step above, and well worth the extra couple dollars. read more

Wow! What a nice surprise. I have given up on eating Mexican food although I still crave it. We heard about Luna and so we thought let's give it a try. Friday night with no reservation. Beautiful evening so we sat out on the patio which was very pleasant. Our waiter was great and the food was fantastic. Fresh and well prepared. We will definitely be back and I really hope this family does well in this location. Which I might add, the location is meh but even with that said, the patio wasn't too noisy.
