Love this taco spot! We come here when we can for quick tacos and occasionally horchata. This is a permanent taco truck with some heated seating space also right in front of the truck. This is a good taco truck. Is it the best in Monroe? No. But it's good. I visited at lunch and had three tacos: asada, lengua, and carnitas. The asada was dry. Asada should never be dry. The lengua was good, middle of the road lengua. Good, not great. I've had worse and I've had better. That's a shame because they charge twice as much for a taco de lengua than the other meats (except for tripas). The carnitas was AMAZING. Absolutely some of the best carnitas--if not the best--I have ever tasted. Yum! The red and green sauces were both very tasty. Spicy and flavorful. I could not try the third sauce (also green) because it contained avocado (I'm allergic). I suspect it is also very good. The Yelp listing finally lists the correct address on E Main. The W Main address is for a house that will be a sit-down taqueria by the same people a few months from now. It's not open yet. The food truck is. And there is only one food truck. The #2 of the side of the truck just means it's their second truck. Truck #1 has been retired to serve only as a backup if there are problems with truck #2. This is a good truck and worth visiting if nearby, hungry, and wanting Mexican food. Nothing horribly wrong with it at all. Top 30%. Not top 10%. But worth visiting and supporting. read more

Just tried these tacos tonight. We ordered chicken tacos, spicy pork tacos and a cheese and chicken quesadilla. There were only two people ahead of us when we got there. Super quick and friendly service. The tacos came out super quick, ten minutes or less for sure, I didn't time it. The spot they are at makes me feel like I'm on vacation since it's located on Main Street and the building behind is painted with a Coca-Cola ad. Just feels like a cool spot to eat while in town. But the tacos were actually top 3 favorite I've ever had, and that includes actual tacos in Mexico. Highly recommend what we got, they also have yummy sodas and real sugar coke. I believe they had some Mexican style candy or goodies at the cart as well, a must see. read more

Ask Seattleites about Monroe and you get these responses: "Home of the reformatory," "Hicksville," or "Louisiana?" It gets even worse when the subject is on food. The most common response is... "lots of bars" and to that, I retort that, "You don't know anything about Monroe because the bar/tavern/saloon scene is rather scarce-to-non-existent." The great little secret about Monroe is that it is a great place to buy a home for cheap. And, when there are plenty of affordable homes in a city with a strong police presence, you can bet gentrification will follow. And, with gentrification comes the added benefit of more authentic ethnic cuisines. Case in point is this stellar, simple taco truck resting under a massive (and newly painted) retro-bold red Coca-Cola advertisement on the side of the Monroe Laundry building, across from a 7-Eleven. Several of the local dames unanimously recommended this place so I had to go check it out. There's plenty of free parking and also a little "hut" in case of inclement weather. First off, this is a TACO truck so I ordered the gamut of the menu: asada (beef), adovada (spicy pork), lengua (tongue), cavesa (cheek), buches (grilled pork), carnitas (fried pork), pollo (chicken), and tripas (tripe). With the exception of tripas ($1.75), each taco costs only $1.25 and is double-wrapped with two hand-sized tortillas and topped with chopped cilantro, onion, and (I think) basil. When plated, they threw on a few slices of red radishes, lime slices, and a green jalapeno chile. Be extra careful as the jalapeno can vary from 1-star to 4-star heat. The boss said he gets it from the market and also doesn't know what to expect on any given day. For rescue operations, I highly recommend not a Mexican Coca-Cola but their home-brewed horchata drink. It is a good one. The tacos are fresh with tasty meat and herbs and do not need additional seasoning, although they do supply Tapatio at the tables. These are real tacos; not the faux-Mexican lifeless versions at the international franchises. Is it worth the 15 minute drive on Hwy. 522? Hell to the yes, it is! You'll get full on just three or four tacos. That's five bucks. Other comida Mexicana offerings include: burritos, tortas, quesadillas, and sopes. I got the veggie burrito after climbing at nearby Index. The good: +Delicious, straightforward food. +The hot sauce was really hot. +Fast and great value. +Credit cards accepted with a 50 cents fee. Not as good: -The burrito was not assembled in such a way as to facilitate one-handed eating. No big deal since I shouldn't be driving and eating. :) It made a big mess in the car. This is a family review. Dad: Loves the fact that a) it's a full meal b) it's tasty c) it's $3. Makes leaving a 25% tip feel like being a cheapskate. The taco 'wagon' Pihuamo is truly a great value. I eat lunch there probably 1x/week or so. The burritos are good, the tacos are GREAT. Beef good, Asada much better tasting. Spicy pork is also excellent. They also give you cilantro and fresh lime with everything- great stuff. The only things keeping me from 5 star is.... well, it's jut not 5 star. It IS a bus, people. And the red hot sauce is actually not all that tasty, but you can pass on it and get the green, which is great. The people are also very nice and courteous and plenty of drink variety. LOVE the taco bus. 12 year old daughter- Way better than XXXXXXX in town. I love their beef tacos and order them every time. Mom- not the traditional fattening ameri-mexi-tex food. Love the fresh ingredients and the non-cheese usage. Makes it an authentic, tasty treat. Now here's the kicker- one of our family friend's kids who typically only would dig chicken nuggets/hot dogs, etc. is a CONVERT. We didn't give him an option one night, he reluctantly had a beef taco and now asks his parents to take him to the taco bus. Word up! read more

Anyone who says "There's no good Mexican food in WA" apparently only eats at Azteca, because that is simply not the case if you consider places like Tacos Pihuamo. I lived in Socal and I still think this place is right up there with some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. And since I am eating this right now? I would say it is potentially even better. On top of that, the prices can hardly be beaten. There's apparently a few other great taco trucks in town as well, but I don't know that I'll ever bother. I've found my taco truck. read more

A great Taco truck right in the middle of downtown Monroe! The prices are great, the food is great, and service is friendly! Also, unlike a lot of trucks, they accept credit cards, which can be a huge plus! Burritos are good and big, the Torta Cubanas is delish and loaded up, all of the offerings I've tried have been good and a great value! Tacos are also cheap and delish! Priced great, easy location with plenty of parking, a great covered dining area, and delicious food make this a great lunch stop (or snack stop, dinner stop [not sure what time they're open to, it's my lunch stop]) and I'll def be back! read more

Taco trucks at their finest!

There's nothing not to like about a taco truck; you can't possibly get your hopes up too high so a getting a great taco or torta at one is like finding money. Now, a lunch at Pihuamo isn't like finding a hundred, it's more like finding a ten. Which just happens to be less that you'll pay for the meal so in all it's a great outing. Pihuamo has the usual assortment of tacos, tortas, and quesadillas along with a great beverage selection. A covered tent provides a place to sit out of the rain; I wish we had this kind of setup in one of the too many empty lots in downtown Redmond. For the tacos: the fried pork comes off a bit dry, the adovada is better, chicken is nicely spiced and tender, quesadillas are too cheesy but are made with great flour tortillas and served with a little wedge of avocado. Make sure you get some of the salsa verde if you are taking your tacos or burrito to go. read more

I had a burrito--it was pretty stinking big, and delicious. I didn't finish it, it was that large. They even have a covered, heated seating area--despite being a food truck.
