Came for breakfast on our way out of town & very much enjoyed it. The service was excellent as our coffee & tea was brought promptly & was our orders taken. I ordered the crab omelette while my wife got the eggs benedict with crab. Both were excellent with the crab tasting very fresh. Only small downside was the potatoes were not quite cooked enough & my toast was a bit cool. Overall I'd definitely give this place a try. read more

As I've come here over the years it has progressively gotten worse . I'm sad to say they are completely lacking in waiters or waitresses who can TAKE an order accurately , and also keep my coffee cup filled . I am always friendly and pretty understanding if someone has a bad day. But I stopped eating here because my order turned to be wrong or undercooked (eggs) or over cooked ... Food is terrific! I do have a few suggestions.... I would like to see the owners put up a divider between the bathroom doors and the dining area which are right next to each other - there is enough room and it would certainly make dining near them nit so icky. Also, the bathrooms should be gender neutral since they are single occupancy. read more

This place has the best burgers! 2 of us had the Wagyu burger, 1 had the special a Hawaiian burger...ham, pineapple & teriyaki sauce and 1 the classic burger. We tried fries and onion rings everything was hot fresh and delicious! Definitely will be back! read more

First off, the place is adorable. Love the decor, the vibe, the tables made from doors, very cool looking place, inside and out. From there, that's about it. It took going through 3 different people to get a table, and none of them talked to each other. It was hard to watch. We were greeted by our wait person, who said she would get a table cleared for us and walked off. The poor hostess/buss girl who was running around never got told that were were waiting for a table to be cleared so she was off doing other things, she eventually asked if we'd been helped, and we said we had, then another wait person talked to us and chewed out the hostess girl for not clearing the table, that she was never told about by the first person. Wasn't her fault and she didn't deserve that. The food, it was tasty, I really enjoyed it. The whole family enjoyed it, even my kids. The service was beyond horrible. We had to keep asking for refills, and even when our wait person delivered them, not once did she ask if we needed anything, we were treated as if we were an inconvenience to her because she was busy. Sorry you're busy and have the chance to make some awesome tips and you're letting your stress levels pour onto us. We left after paying for our meal and tipped the hostess/buss girl directly and asked her to give a few bucks to the kitchen, but not our wait person. I will return and give them another chance, but with service like that, it doesn't matter how good your food is. read more

NOM NOM freakin' NOM. It says Carlsborg but I would still just call it Sequim, for those headed in from out of town. Just an FYI. It's over by the golf course. What can I say? We sat down and were told that they were running far behind because everybody came at once so getting food would take about 35-40 minutes. I was too hungover to protest so I just whispered 'water' and hoped for the best. 2 minutes later they brought by some fresh fruit for us to nibble on while we waited to order. On the house, in fact, which I found rather classy. And this was a vast bowl of fruit, mind you. We ordered after getting some recommendations (chicken fried chicken breakfast and the dungeness bene), and then they brought us a 'starter pancake' because they felt bad about the wait. I actually heard 'star pancake' and was sad when I realized that it wouldn't be star shaped. And then I was super happy because my server had figured out a way to beat the system. (yes, we tipped well for that little non-star nugget of happiness) Our actual food: the eggs were cooked PERFECTLY. Like, I don't even get it. They must use one of those cool egg poachers from the infomercials. The shape and the density...I haven't actually had a poached egg this perfect in my life. Also, the hollandaise was damn near perfect - nice and mild to not cover up the delicateness of the crab meat...of which, there was a generous amount. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned (although a smidge oily...but what did I care, I had a vat of rum to soak up from the night before). My husband had the chicken fried chicken (wouldn't that just be chicken? I feel like there should be a negative integer there somewhere) and said that it was the best breakfast he had had since we started dating. I would be offended but I have to agree. It was such a delight to stumble upon this place. Will always go back when we are in town. Oh and to the managers: please be open on Mondays...at least Mondays that are holidays. Delicious! First time here... Stopped in for breakfast, and will definitely be going back. Loved the fried potatoes and the link sausages. Was not crazy about the flavor of the sausage gravy, but I think it was personal preference. The benedict I had was good. Visited The Old Mill after a trip to Port Townsend and Sequim. Right off the bat found the service to be strange and the servers themselves to be less than courteous. My friend and I exchanged some glances over a rough greeting after asking to sit outside (the nerve of us stupid customers!), which our server seemed to notice and try to make up for... I guess that's better than being rude the whole meal. Restaurant was maybe half full on the Saturday evening that we visited. Definitely an older crowd, and lots of old timey decorations. Both of these seemed out of place with the young, inexperienced and not overly friendly staff. Then we got menus... prices were tourist prices, no doubt about it. Ranging from about $15-$30 per person for entrees, I felt neither the food nor the atmosphere warranted that much money. My friend ordered the crab cakes for $25 or so dollars, while I ordered a $20 or so salad. Yes... a salad that cost almost as much as crab cakes. I think it had some steak on it. It was a pretty good salad, but not one I would pay that much for again. Ultimately, I just felt that in a town that small, this food in this place should not be that price. Were the dishes to be $3-5 less each, I would probably overlook weird service and give 4 stars. My wife and I walked through the door and immediately I was struck with the smell of sour clothes or an elderly person wearing an expired pair of depends. The decor was a tree huggers nightmare but a good glimpse of what life was like 100 years ago. The employees were nice but not very welcoming. We were asked for our order, given our coffee, and then given our bill. The food was average given the price. The worst was the men's room. The floor around the urinal was disgusting and looked as if it hadn't been touched in months. This probably added to the overall urine smell and the two air freshener next to the urinal. After hearing from a friend that Old Mill Cafe had the "best biscuits and gravy on the Peninsula", we decided to give them a shot. We were heading to Silverdale late Sunday morning (I know - Sundays are the busiest mornings for restaurants) and stopped in for breakfast. We placed our order and we waited. And waited. And waited. After a half hour or so, the server told us there was a large group (15 top) before us and that the kitchen was trying to cook our order at the same time. 45 minutes after we ordered, we got our food. The food was cold. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good, and my husband seemed to enjoy the spinach scramble. We were hungry and probably would have eaten anything at by that point. This place is nothing short of magic. The owner Larry has a passion for this place and you can see it in the decor every time you look. His wife is an artist and has Stained glass pieces and other art in the restaurant as well. The food was great and I was taking pictures of the awesome decor when I saw a guy smiling at me and I told him you can tell I'm a tourist and he came over and it turns out it's Larry the owner. He told us all kinds of historical stories about the restaurant and where he got different things that were there. He also showed us a miniature of the town mill that his friend had created. As I was leaving and getting in my car he came and knocked on the window and gave me six Italian plums that I think were from a tree nearby. Best things ever! I was hoping I'd find some in a grocery store but no luck. Don't miss this place if you go through wonderful staff, great food and the decor is awesome. Make sure you ask for Larry because he's a pleasure to talk to. I hated leaving! I wanted to stay and hear more stories! read more

Do not understand how this place has such good reviews. Ordered a mimosa and the French dip. Fries were good and so was the drink but everything else is stuff you'd see on Kitchen Nightmares. Dead flies on windowsill at our table. Not very clean water glasses. And then the sandwich... au jus was literally a cup of oil. "Meat piled high" not as described. One layer of meat, no onions, and meat was full of tough fat. Unavoidable to eat a bite without pulling something back out of my mouth. My friend dining with me said her food was alright but her veggie burger patty completely fell apart and was a mess to eat. She too was disturbed by the lack of cleanliness. Their kobe beef burger is delicious, but sometimes it's a bit too rich and you're full after about 2 bites. So a lot of the time, as an alternative, I'll get their pastrami sandwich. I don't typically even eat pastrami, but this sandwich is soooo good I can't resist. There is a diversity of things to choose from on the menu and the service is usually pretty good (I think there was one occassion where it was lacking because they were so busy, but it was forgivable). Lots of fun things to look at, too. One table had all sorts of old keys and matchbooks from restaurants in Sequim from yesteryear under the table glass. Great spot! Parking lot lent the idea that the restaurant was full, but there were plenty of tables/booths available. Decor is fun, lots to look at. Menu was perfect - not overwhelming or too shy for options. Food was good. We had split pea soup and shared a club sandwich. I'm always hesitant on ordering soup at restaurants as they are often left uncovered which allows evaporation, in turn leaving salt to dominate. Both the soup and sandwich were PERFECT. Oh - be sure to (share!) a cinnamon roll with caramel sauce; it's just lovely! Only downfall was the hostess getting involved with serving the food - she didn't bring flatware or napkins, so we had to catch the attention of our server. Love the fries! Good burger but smallish for price. They charges $1 for cheese, bacon etc. Beautiful Deco, very interesting stories on some pieces and the diorama in the table. If the owner is around, ask him about it! Friendly staff, I haven't had any issues in the several stops here. Early dinner burger special includes a beer, for a total of $15. (can't recall now if that included tip) This is the sort of place good to bring a date or your parents, either way it's not crazy expensive, yet still nice enough to not feel "commercialized" or grease pit. read more

Organic coffee some of the best ever! Homemade jam to die for. The gluten free bread was the best we've ever had at a breakfast restaurant. It didn't even taste gluten free. We arrived just after breakfast ended but the staff accommodated our whining. This was our only chance to dine and we thanked them for accommodating us. The smoked salmon benedict was delicious. The pancakes were picture perfect fluffy goodness and the teenagers gobbled them up. Something for everyone! Overall food very tasty, well thought out and ample portions for all.
