This place surprised me with the great quality at lower price range. There wasn't a thing I tried and didn't like. Well, maybe the quail egg shot. I mean it wasn't bad and I'd probably have one again but I wasn't ready for it LOL. Try it. The Happy Hour selection had a good variety so take advantage of it if you can. Service was good and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. I recommend the baked mussels, salmon sushi, scallop sushi, yellowtail jalapeño, fresh wasabi, and anything with spicy tuna - although I wouldn't mind if the spicy tuna were spicier!
Haven't been here for a while and finally came back tonight and everything is just the same. Service as always is amazing, staff are very faintly and attentive. Out waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered us the specials in which we ended ordering which was the toro. Food: was delicious as usually, got the oho roll, chirashi bowl, tuna avocado roll and the ramen which was delicious!! Ambiance is very simple and cute. Had a few Japanese decor as well as a television to watch some shows or sports.
Such a hidden gem. This restaurant shared the same parking with the motel. Upon arriving, I didn't think much of it. We were greeted right away. We were told that it was their last call. However, when we sat down they allowed us to take our time and even let us ordered more than once. We really wanted their salmon skin salad, but they ran out. We got the fire cracker instead. This turned out to be one of my favs. The tuna was super fresh and yummy. It was so flavorful. The chip was crispy. Everything on that big crispy wonton chip blended so well. We also got the baked mushrooms. I was expecting it to be bigger, but it came with several pieces instead. It was super hot. It was also very good. The yellow jalapeño carpaccio was fresh as well. Each slice was not too thick nor too thin. The tangerine roll was surprisingly yummy. There was no seaweed. They used a very thin layer of something in the inside. Kind of look like soy paper but not sure. Service was amazing. The people there were nice and friendly. We mentioned that we liked the ginger. The male server brought out more for us. It was too much so we told him that we didn't need it. Very kind. I would love to return to try the other items. Thank you for an amazing experience.
Went here for the first time the underrated and off the radar really want to gatekeep it but wont! We got the fire cracker which was like spicy tuna poke nachos. Highly recommend! We also got the 12 piece sashimi sampler which was really flavorful. The staff was also really friendly and the vibe was great. we got some other rolls too and literally everything was perfect.
delicious food and amazing service!! found this place on Google Maps and was enticed with their high ratings. there is free parking which is nice. I ordered the combination plate with sashimi and it was so good, the sashimi was thick and had a yuzu flavor to it which was stellar!!! the rice was cooked perfectly and I loved the spicy tuna roll, the fish was so fresh. service was attentive and friendly! I will definitely come back.
I've been coming here for years and just thought to make a review, this place has NEVER let me down. My regular order is the Chicken Karrage, Animal Style Roll and Sunrise on 2nd. Sometimes I get sashimi or the spicy tuna on crispy rice or the firecracker tuna with the wonton chips. I've come here with just my husband and I or my whole family and the service is always amazing! Love the ambiance because it's a chill vibe and the play good music.
Need to add more reviews for this sushi bar! It's my fav sushi bar to sit down on week days! I have been here so many times before! On dates, alone for happy hour, with group of friends and with group of family. It's my go to sushi bar. I like all the fresh quality seafood I get here. Sashimis are thick and fresh, the hand rolls are simple and addicting, rolls are tasty and fulfilling. I love to get hot sake when I go at the evening and cold beer at the noon time. Staffs are very friendly, and orders comes in with decent time. They can get busy during happy hour at lunch time. There's usually enough parking spots, but there's a couple street Parking spots as well. Happy Hour - current time is 3-6pm M-F.
Back again at OHO Sushi Studio for a quick happy hour bite with my girl and once again this spot does not miss We grabbed seats at the bar where our favorite sushi chef Sammy was behind the counter dishing up straight heat as usual. The man is consistent and that's a big part of why this place has become one of our go to spots in Long Beach. We kicked things off with quail egg shooters total umami bombs and a fun way to start the meal. From there we dove into salmon sashimi and salmon belly sashimi and both were exactly how you want them buttery, fresh, and melt in your mouth good. No fishy taste, just clean, rich flavor. For a hot bite we ordered the baked green mussels, which were a great appetizer savory, creamy, and perfect to share. Then it was roll time. We split a Double Tuna roll and the chef's special the "Sammy Delight" both were delicious as always. You can tell Sammy takes pride in his craft the flavor balance and textures on his creations always hit. We wrapped things up with a round of happy hour hand rolls, and every single one hit the spot Spicy Salmon, California, Salmon skin, and Tempura. All of them were tasty, fresh, and generously filled no skimpy rolls here even during happy hour. Service was friendly and efficient, and for the quality of fish you're getting, happy hour is a steal. Between the consistent food, the vibe at the bar, and Sammy doing his thing, this place has firmly earned its 5 stars from me. Already looking forward to the next visit.
I had the most amazing experience here today! Tay, our waitress was absolutely incredible and so sweet! And Sammy!!!! Omg! He made everything to perfection! The detail and flavors were on point! Oho also has an amazing happy hour! So good that it actually pulls me away from going to an AYCE spot. Also, the sushi here tops any AYCE joint! Had an amazing time here today!
How did I never know about their happy hour! Mo day through Friday from 12-6 and Saturdays and Sundays from 3-6pm. It's amazing and extremely reasonably priced. The presentation is immaculate. It's in comparison with eating sushi at a high-end restaurant. Sammy makes every plate with so much intention and care. Definitely coming back as often as possible.
You will see Don's Motel Neon sign before rhr oho sign , Shared same parking lot as Don's Motel . Salmon carpaccio and hamachi sashimi were mouth watering.

Decent sushi for the price and they have great happy hour deals! The only item I thought was a miss was the calamari salad. It was chewy and I was not a fan of the flavor. Otherwise, everything else was good! read more
What if we kissed...at the secret motel sushi spot? Yes, it looks like it is located in the lobby of a PCH Motel (Don's). Yes, you would wonder why you should stop here. Yes, you will find the parking situation "interesting". And yes, it is the best sushi you will have in Long Beach. To say this is a local hidden gem is an understatement. You'd expect very fresh, high quality sushi to be located on 2nd/PCH, or in Belmont Shores, or even on the top floor of someplace in downtown. No, it is in this odd, barely-lit location next to the CSULB Beachside campus and a car wash. I judge a sushi bar on its octopus sushi (Tako) because it is easy to F up. Normally, it can taste like shoe leather and is super chewy, but if they know what they are doing, it will be tender, and tastes slightly of lemon and sea salt. Here they nailed it! Tender, enjoyable, with that little squeeze of citrus over it and a sprinkle of coarse sea salt right before serving it to me. Perfection! We also were really impressed with the miso soup. I know, right? Such a small detail, but that is what this place is good at. Remembering the little details that make an overall sushi experience so enjoyable. We also got the chef's special (chef's choice of 8 pieces of sushi, plus a salmon or tuna roll), and a 911 roll. The 911 roll was well-balanced. Sometimes specialty rolls can be all sauce and no substance. Not this one. They know how to control their flavors here so that the fish is always the star. The sushi that came in the chef's choice was these thick cuts of extremely fresh and buttery fish. Even the Maki roll was made with the high quality fish. We were just pleasantly surprised all around. Don't judge a book by its cover. Come in and find one of the best kept sushi secrets in LA. read more

The quality of the fish here is top notch! We found this place trying to find a sushi spot with the boat platter. Unfortunately, we didn't see the boat platter on the menu it was an outdated picture but we do not regret finding this place. It's in between a motel and Mexican restaurant so its easy to miss driving by. I definitely recommend the salmon rolls and the Yellow tail jalapeño sashimi. The sashimi was topped with an amazing sauce. We sat at the bar and It was nice to be able to watch the chef do his work. This place has a large sushi bar area, an awesome newspaper menu, enough room, and parking space. read more

I've driven by this place so many times over the years and never got a chance to try it until a week or so ago. (Been meaning to write a review right after but being a part-time nanny kept me busy ) I was craving sushi and I think we drove by here after church? Anyway, parked in the motel parking lot, went in and sat at the bar with my son and my friend's son. (They were so patient with his wild and adventurous personality. Thank you for putting up with us. ) So for those of you who follow me, y'all know I love sushi right? Particularly, salmon, yellowtail, albacore sushi AND Uni! I didn't know where to start but I got my son and I all of those and yes, he ate all of them with me. Then, we had to try the specialty rolls: Crab Company roll was yummy! So was the other special roll with lobster and wrapped in rice paper (I can't remember the name. It wasn't lobster roll...) I couldn't pick but the sushi chef (Bryan?) was super nice and helped us decide. Check out the pics! (Oh yes, I was hungry! So I ordered a bunch!) I also ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna! Can't go wrong there! The shumai was not my fav but my son ate them. They're best at Dim Sum places. The salmon carpaccio was sooooo good! Mmmm! Will come back! Maybe on a date? Want high quality sushi and a fun ambiance? This is the place to be. Fish is high quality and the restaurant is kitschy and eclectic. Although it's located in the same lot as a slightly sketchy motel, it doesn't affect the restaurant much and if anything, just adds to the overall allure of this place. The service is efficient and friendly and it's super fun to sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare the huge variety of rolls and sashimi. It's a little on the pricier side, but I would rather spend a bit and have a good experience and not get food poisoning than try to save a bit of cash and end up on my bathroom floor for 24 hours. read more

Great Food. Great Staff. Parking is a little confusing, however, the food is great and the staff coincides with the great food. Team is very accommodating and attentive. Great ingredients and clean. On the smaller side, however, you're able to hold conversation naturally without having to talk over other diners. read more

My go to spot. It's convenient, not too crowded, and close by to my place. Friendly staff. Tons of parking. And you can't watch the game while eating. Food is good and doesn't take long. They also have Bento boxes for dinner, ramen, and in the pic, orange chicken and garlic fried rice. I was pretty surprised how tasty it was. Came here a few weeks ago and still doesn't disappoint. They also give out cupcakes for bday celebrates. Every time I come, there's always someone celebrating their bday. read more

Bomb Ass Sushi. Been to several sushi spots in Long Beach, but these guys do it right. Do the Hamachi Belly or Salmon Belly Black Truffles & can't go wrong. read more
Love everything about this place! Seating is open along the perimeter or at the sushi bar. Both rolls I got were delicious, and didn't fall apart like some other sushi spots I've been to. Prompt and efficient service and the prices are decent too for the amount of food you get. Parking is shared with a motel, which hasn't been an issue finding a space so far. If you haven't been yet, definitely check this place out! read more

The service was fine. The food lacked blended flavor, I felt like someone poured syrup on the rolls. The tempura was 4 skinny pieces of shrimp. I thought it was a bit over priced. It wasn't anything fancy which doesn't matter but I thought I'd be happy with the food itself. read more
This place is a bit hard to find because the signage isn't as huge as the Mexican restaurant in front of it. It's in the same parking lot as Don's Motel. Let's start with the favorites: - Spicy garlic edamame: 10/10, hands down my favorite spicy garlic edamame. It's the perfect balance of salty, sweet and spicy. - Crispy rice with spicy tuna: 9/10, the rice is so crispyyyy on the outside but moist on the inside and they give a big portion of tuna on top! Definitely eat it with your hands. - Sexy girl roll: perfect crunch on top and sweet mango on top - Yellowtail with jalapeño: ponzu plus jalapeño plus that lil piece of garlic on yellowtail is *chefs kiss* We also had the shrimp tempura hand roll which was really good as well! A little too much spicy Mayo inside but still really bomb. Definitely come for happy hour! read more
The salmon collar came out late but we had already paid the bill but they were kind enough to let us take it home still!!! Our server Petchy was incredible and super helpful too. This is a long over due review but will definitely be coming back because the quality and staff are great. The only con is parking but other than that everything else was perfect!! read more

Always passed by this place and always told myself I'm going to try it, after 2yrs, my fiancé and I walked inand were amazing by the friendly service and delicious food! Ambiance felt very Japanese like as well. We went in during happy hour and were not disappointed at all, our favorite was the Yellow Tail Mango sashimi worth a try!! I was craving sushi and was looking for a place that had Happy Hour. We searched up a few places and came across OHO so we decided to give it a shot. Once we got there we got seated right away (it wasn't busy at all). It was our first time there and we let it be known. We had a few questions, but it seemed like we didn't get much assistance when needed because, I believe, they were short staffed at the time. Every time we had a question we had to wait a while just for our server to come across our table again. We finally understood the menu and how to order then that's when I started seeing more staff on the floor. Our food came out pretty quick and everything tasted good, but none of the rolls stood out except the Crispy Triangles (not sushi) which was my favorite from today's eats. One thing I highly disliked was their women's restroom door does not lock. When I walked back to my table there was an unnoticeable raised tile that I tripped over. The space was very tight, but that's because I had to push a double stroller through the restaurant... so that's not on them. read more

My friend and I went during Happy Hour to save some money, and they honestly had a solid amount of choices on the menu (definitely not near the full amount of choices though) but we did end up getting a few things off of it as well. The food was really good, however I don't know if I'd be willing to pay full price for everything. The service was really good and we were checked in on quite a few times (but not in an annoying way). I will say the setting isn't quite my vibe but if you're craving sushi where you can also watch sports, this is your place. Overall solid place to go with friends and family! read more
Came in about 45 minutes before closing on a Thursday night and we were promptly seated. We ordered the caterpillar roll, BSC roll, tangerine roll hold the jalapeño and for appetizer we got the gyoza. Green tea came out quickly and the rest as well. I thought their gyoza was better than many places. The rolls were good but nothing to write home about. We went to Sapporo last week and I prefer that place more in terms of parking, pricing, decor and service. read more
