    Salmon Avocado Roll

Take out sushi! This spot is so cute! For a quicker way to satisfy a sushi craving, this is for sure a great option. If ya blink, you may miss it. Located right next to a small movie theater, and mostly recognized by the A-frame sign out front, is a walk up window to place your order. Food is made fresh while you wait. Took about 10 mins and my order was ready. Although 4th street can get quite busy, I was able to find parking right in front. Quality little place and prices are affordable.

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots of all time. Super simple menu, super friendly staff, if you are looking for a legit sushi spot, look no further!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Very good quality sushi in an unassuming tiny storefront. While I do miss Hip Pea dearly, I must admit it's nice having a good casual sushi option on 4th St convenient to me. Too bad the two couldn't coexist. I guess Jounetsu Ramen further west on 4th does some rolls but I haven't tried them so can't speak for their quality. The hubby and I decided to get some dinner here on a weeknight and got: Ultimate Roll - basically an omakase roll. The chef asks what you like and assembles something. I told him I was totally open and to make whatever. He asked if I liked eel (I do), and he came up with a roll with an eel base topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crunchy tempura bits, masago, and eel sauce, which I asked for light (I hate goopy rolls). I was very pleased with this roll--it had good quality fish as well as good sushi rice and was assembled with care. Veggie Roll - fresh avocado, cucumbers and carrots with the aforementioned good rice. Simple, but well done. These weren't cheap, but I'd say reasonable for the quality. I'm looking forward to trying more of their offerings soon, like their poke bowls! The hubby was hoping to try some of their other vegan sushi that looked interesting, but according to the chef they weren't doing very well so he's discontinued them--bummer! At least most of the standard vegetarian options are vegan anyway. As with Hip Pea, just the small outdoor tables if you want to eat there--not the best on cold days, so I imagine most people get stuff to go. The chef is very personable and really cares about the food and customer service. I wish him the best and hope this place will be able to stick around!

John makes one hell of a sushi roll & my favorite favorite favorite roll is the Hawaiian Roll. I highly recommend ordering it if you're here. Quality rolls & happy hour deals, add it to your bucketlist! Great energy! Outdoor dining area but it's cute & great for dates (hot tip for hot date: pair the meal with some wine from next door).

Got 6 rolls to eat at home and let me tell you it was 100/10 all of them were so good!! 100% recommend

We got 6 rolls to eat at home and we couldn't pick a favorite one because they were all so good. I will come back here every chance I can 100% recommend. I loved the details and presentation

Delicious. Affordable. Fresh. Made with love. I needed a snack while I waited for the movie to start next door. Have been wanting to try RetRoll for quite sometime. I ordered the spicy tuna wrap, it was cut into pieces like a sushi roll, it was perfect & so yummy! I will be back to order a feast! Nice person helping at the window, awesome chef creating magic.

The food was great! Service was outstanding and the prices are budget friendly, especially in the 2025 economy. Highly recommend a stop here if in Long Beach CA!

This is one of the best sushi spots in Long Beach. Amazing location near retro row and connected to the local movie theatre. The prices are a steal it was 12 bucks for all this high quality food! Please consider going here you will not regret it. It's so fresh and tasty.

So glad to have a sushi spot on 4th street :) It's located next to the theatre & art du vin wine bar. I got the ultimate roll which is basically a roll they customize to your liking by asking what fish + sauces you like/don't like. I also got a spicy tuna roll which was tasty and classic. Everything was fresh & I waited about 10-15 minutes for everything to be ready. It's a walk up window so be prepared to eat it to-go! You can also get sake at Art du Vin next door to pair with your sushi.

SALMON AVO Bento, SPICY TUNA ROLL Bento

incredible food at an incredible price. my friend and i got two bento boxes to share. the salmon avocado roll and shrimp gyoza stood out--the gyoza in particular was some of my favorite i've ever had. the owner is also incredibly kind--i will absolutely be back next time i'm in LB! great music playing too.

Salmon on fire. Hawaiian. Ultimate roll - amazing work of art and taste. Service was fanatic as well. Right next to a wine bar.

What's funny is that we've both lived around Long Beach forever and somehow never fully connected with Oho despite hearing good things about it for years. We had randomly stopped in one afternoon recently thinking we'd just split a roll and head home, but the food ended up being so good that we kept ordering "one more thing" until we accidentally skipped dinner entirely later that night. That experience was good enough that when we found ourselves trying to figure out dinner again yesterday, Oho immediately came back into the conversation. We got there early evening and the timing was perfect. Busy enough to feel lively and like you were out for the night, but not so packed that service slowed down or the room became chaotic. The pacing of the meal was honestly one of the best parts. Dishes came out steadily without crowding the table, and everything felt very natural and relaxed. The tuna crispy rice was fantastic and a little different from the usual presentation. Perfect crisp on the outside, almost caramelized, with really airy spicy tuna on top that reminded me more of a tartare texture than the heavier versions you sometimes get elsewhere. We also had bluefin tuna, toro, salmon sashimi, a spicy scallop roll, and the Extreme Crunch Roll with light eel sauce, which ended up being surprisingly balanced and not over-the-top despite the name. Even the iced green tea stood out. Bright green, almost cloudy, super refreshing, and honestly exactly what I wanted with sushi. Service was excellent both visits. It felt very team-oriented behind the sushi bar and on the floor, which kept everything moving smoothly without feeling rushed. A couple practical notes: parking is easy overall, but the lot is shared with the motel, so just be mindful where you park and try to stay closer toward the restaurant side of the lot. Also, this feels much better suited for couples or small groups than large parties. Four people would be ideal. Six is probably pushing it unless the restaurant is unusually quiet. Really happy we gave this place another shot because it ended up being one of the more satisfying sushi dinners we've had in a while.

Their menu has a pretty extensive offering of Japanese food ranging from rice dishes, sushi, ramen, and izakaya-style appetizers. My wife and I ordered a bunch of handrolls and they were quite filling here. Their tuna handroll and shrimp tempura handrolls were the handrolls that we'd want to order again. Didn't enjoy the scallop handroll as much; however, they had a scallop sashimi appetizer this month that was amazing. The appetizer had thinly sliced hotate (Hokkaido scallops), seasoned with yuzu and it was delicious. Also ordered a soft-shell crab appetizer and we appreciated the meatiness of the soft-shell crab. While it was sometimes difficult to get the attention of servers, we felt the quality of the seafood was pretty good here. For this reason, this is a really welcome addition to the east long beach community and I'll definitely be back!

We sat at the bar and the sushi, chefs and server were nice. We ordered their spicy edamame which was loaded with flavor by far the best spicy edamame. I love the garlic and chili combos with a little citrus flavor. Also ordered the stinky roll, which is spicy tuna on the inside and salmon on the outside which I liked very much couldn't decide on a second roll so I asked the server to surprise us and kind of regret doing that because he had brought us a roll that I was already cringing at reading the description on the menu which was their long beach roll however, the crunch it had on the inside was very nice and not too heavy. I don't feel that asparagus should be anywhere near a sushi roll, but that was my bad. Also ordered their Yuzu cheesecake, which was a no for me. It was too strong and screaming Yuzu simialr to lemon zest and super tiny. The quality of the ingredients they use here are pretty good. I would come back to try other items, but I do not suggest getting their dessert or their long beach roll.

I didn't know where the entrance was walking around the block which found out later that the entrance was where parking is. I believe you could get on the waitlist but it was still early during lunch time when we arrived that it wasn't necessary. The restaurant itself isn't that big. A good amount of Asian modern style seating. Menu is pretty limited but gets down to the punch. Ramen, a couple of rice dishes and starters. Basically it. They had some alcoholic drink options too. We started off with some beers, the crispy chicken which was really nice. Thick chunks of thighs lightly deep fried and served with a dipping sauce. Juicy and tender. Entrees, the tonkatsu which you could make into a combo that comes with a side salad, and with salmon poke bowl or spicy tuna bowl for an additional fee. The broth for the ramen was quite tasty and paired really well with everything that added to it. And very filling. Also had the pork rice bowl with pork chashu, green onions, poached egg, spinach on top of rice. That was quite tasty and filling as well. There's a small and large option. We ordered via third party app because the preparation of the poke sounded intriguing and different. The food came in cute packaging. When we opened the containers, in my opinion there was too much rice/quinoa to fish portion. I did enjoy the taste of the poke. It had bits of sour notes from the apple dressing, which is different from what you normally order with poke. The avocado balances out the sourness. And the poke surprisingly pairs well with quinoa. The pork buns were really delicious! It has that umami taste you look for when eating pork. The meat was very tender - easy to bite and chew. The bun was nice and soft - had good texture. And the onions that came on it was good. You don't get that oniony, bitter taste that lingers in your mouth. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Poke was good but idk if I'd order it again because the rice-fish portions are off. But I definitely need to try the ramen cos I know that's what they're known for.
