Sushi Mafia stood out for its unique fusion sushi and affordable prices. And did not disappoint! Being tempura lovers, we had to get the vegetable tempura that came out piping hot and 2pcs of each: broccoli, onion rings, sweet potato, pumpkin slice, shishito. Great start of our meal! Sushi Mafia has an extensive menu with 2 huge full pages anything your heart's desire, whether you're craving sashimi or any types of rolls: shrimp tempura, deep fried, no rice, vegetarian, baked, fresh or cooked. MAFIA sashimi specials, MAFIA specials, ramen or more traditional cooked entrées. Since we were in the mood for sushi and our first visit, we tried the MAFIA special Underboss and the FANTASTIC 4. Totally love it! Fresh fish and generous portions, great value for the price. Of course we have to try the rolls. Can't go wrong with the deep fried ROYAL STRAIGHT FLUSH roll. Thick and mouthful of delicious shrimp, eel, avocado & spicy tuna -- and eel sauce! Speaking of eel sauce. I always have to end my sushi meal with unagi! I made sure to save room for the eel bowl: UNAGI DON with 7 pieces of fresh water eel on steam rice with avocado and eel sauce. For the rolls I recommend the godfather, mango tango if you like a sweet touch to your roll. - depending on time of day it's Long Beach so parking can be tough but worth the hassle! - service is exceptional. It's on the pricier end compared to where I usually go, but they are delicious and the fish is fresh! I've ordered from here twice now and have really enjoyed the flavors of the rolls; the first time I ordered the Awesome Roll along with a couple others that I don't quite remember at the moment, but I really loved the Awesome one. The kids Youngster Chicken Bowl is a good size as well. My kid really enjoyed the perfectly cooked rice and I thought it was delicious that the teriyaki chicken has bits of veggie mixed in as well. One of the rolls I ordered this time around (yesterday), the Punk roll was a no-rice roll, and it was absolutely delicious! I would order it again. Fresh pieces of fish wrapped in crab salad and rice paper. The sauces it comes topped with is supposedly spicy, but I thought it was perfect. It was a mix of chili oil, sesame oil, and mustard dressing. Let me tell you!! It was a flavor bomb. I also got an eel roll, I think it was the Black Dragon. Very delicious. I did not eat at the restaurant, so I cannot really speak on the service, but one of the staff there was kind to open the door and another inside made sure I got the utensils I needed. We ordered lunch for the office on Friday. At first, we weren't too impressed with the customer service because we had selected a 12:30 p.m. pickup time when placing our order. When we called to check on it, we were told there would be a delay and that it wouldn't be ready until around 1:30 p.m. because they had been closed the day before. We felt they should have called us as a courtesy to let us know about the delay, especially since it wasn't the customer's fault. If pickup times are available to select, they should reflect what the restaurant can realistically accommodate. That said, once we picked up the food, everything was absolutely delicious. The American Gangster Roll and the 911 Roll were some of the best sushi I've had in the area. My coworkers also enjoyed the Rainbow Roll and a few other items we ordered. Overall, despite the delay, our Friday lunch was a hit. We'll definitely order again, but next time we'll call our order in ahead of time and double-check their business hours to avoid any timing issues. read more

I'm happy to say it's just as good as dining in -- always prepared quickly, fresh, and packaged well. On my most recent visit I tried the fried calamari, which was excellent. It had a great crunch, wasn't chewy, and came with a really delicious sauce. For rolls, I usually stick with the California or spicy tuna, and they never disappoint. This is a fun casual spot to enjoy some sushi and good drinks with friends. The service is EXCELLENT here. They try to make you feel at home. I came on New Years and they gave everyone a free cup of champagne to celebrate. Everyone had festive new years hats. They were all great! They have a huge menu - if you can't find something you like, you might just be too hard to please. I had the Hello Kitty Hand roll. It's almost too beautiful to eat. But it was great! A wonderful mix of great fish. And no rice, so you really focus on the fish. I also had the LB Sun roll. Also a work of art! This also doesn't have any rice. My only complaint is it was actually harder to eat than I thought it would be since it doesn't have an actual wrap around it. But if you're into sauces, the sauce on this plate is great. My plate was clean by the end of this because I wanted that sauce on every bite. They also serve ramen and sashimi which I definitely want to come back to try. We dined in on a Friday around 4pm, right before the dinner rush. Service was excellent and quick. Apps: Small salad for $3 was perfect to complement sushi. Mixed tempura with shrimp is always made to order. The batter and dip are so good. Half shell oysters have tangy ponzu. So delicious. Sushi: the classics are an unbelievable price for the quality. The fish is soft and melts in your mouth. Spicy albacore & salmon cut rolls are a must try. ANY of their fresh rolls with the mustard sauce or amazing sauce topping are FIRE. Stopped in for happy hour on a Sunday night in June and had a very good experience. We started with a squid salad, which was cold and tasted fresh, with big strips of squid. Husband is not a fan so he had a garden salad with a nice ginger dressing. Then out came our spicy garlic edamame, delightful! For entrees, I chose two $7 hand rolls, an eel hand roll (warm) and a salmon skin hand roll extra extra crispy like bacon. Both were prepared exactly as I ordered. Ordered the spicy salmon roll. Salmon was fresh and good bite size but not spicy. Also ordered the spicy crunchy tuna roll it was spicy but the side sauce was not good. Wish it was eel sauce instead. First off the food is amazing. For the price, you genuinely can't beat the quality they provide. Everything I had from cut rolls, hand rolls, to nigiri was spectacular (and I've had sushi in Japan). Sushi Mafia has definitely earned its spot as my second go to sushi spot in Long Beach. If you're looking for generous portions, quick service, and consistently solid rolls, this place delivers. We started with the complimentary miso soup, which is always a nice warm up before diving into everything else. From there, we leveled things up with some quail egg shooters (umami rich and fun), plus yuzu sake and some nigori which is always a great way to set the tone for the meal. When it comes to rolls I pretty much have my two must orders locked in here Amazing Roll - True to its name, this one tastes fresh and bright with just the right amount of spice. Every time I get it it's super consistent and well balanced. LB Sun - A no-rice sashimi style roll that's buttery, clean, and comes with this DELlCIOUS sauce that ties everything together. If you come here, this is a must try. We finished things off with some hand rolls, and this is where Sushi Mafia really shines for me. The portion sizes on the hand rolls are great, especially for the price. I got a California hand roll with added salmon, which was super satisfying, and the Hello Kitty hand roll, which just like the LB Sun is unique to this spot and another must order in my book. Service is quick and efficient, even when they're busy, and it's an easy spot to slide into for a casual sushi fix that doesn't feel skimpy or rushed. The only reason this is a 4 star and not 5 star is that while everything is solid and hits the spot, it leans more into "reliable neighborhood favorite" than full on "wow, life changing sushi." The decor and ambiance is straight to the point - I don't go here for frills, I go here for the food lol. Interestingly enough, after developing a shellfish allergy super late in life, I have to be careful with my sushi spots and options. This spot has a poke bowl that isn't like your typical poke shop fix. It's filing and flavorful. I love poke but find that many of the poke spots miss the mark on flavor near me, so now I go here for it. Additionally, the rolls I've tried pre and post shellfish allergy are fresh and I'm always pleased. Certainly recommend. My colleagues and I came here recently for lunch. We came when they opened so there was no line. They offer a wide variety of rolls, very creative, and also offer ramen. I'm not big on rolls but my colleagues are so we ordered a few to share. I also got the yellowtail collar and liked it a lot. I usually order grilled salmon, tuna, or yellowtail cheek anyway and this was good. The rolls were very filling for all 4 of us, one of them was a no rice one. I liked that one better. I think overall rolls were okay, I'm not big on rolls and sauce on sashimi I thought it was okay. I'm also very picky with fresh sashimi and we were sharing everything so I didn't want to try their chirashi bowl or anything. My personal rule of thumb when it comes to sushi is if a place offers a tons of varieties of rolls then their sashimi options might not be the freshest or best quality, but that's just my personal rule for myself.
