First time here in a long time (last time was in 2015). First server was not good with communication for people older people and people who haven't been there before. He had a bit of an attitude, and even yelled at us for asking about rice! But then we got Beom and Beom is awesome! I have no idea what some of the banchan (the little bowls of side dishes) are called so pictures would be helpful, especially on their website. So this restaurant is definitely not beginner friendly! Ambience was okay; not as private as before with the tables enclosed in booths. But good for families and reservations of big parties. There is a 2 hour limit and you pull up a menu by QR code at the table. Most servers are very attentive, but the big red button helps if you need anything on the fly. I've been to ohgane so many times and have loved the food and service every single time I've been here. There's good portions of the meats and I would say it's good quality meat as well. The pricing is also very affordable considering how much meat you get. However, my most recent visit disappointed me extremely. The food was still good as always however the service was horrible. Our server's name was Jiwoon, and he was extremely rude as my friend and I entered the establishment. It felt like we were being a nuisance for just wanting to eat kbbq.. He was also having a horrible attitude while we ordered our dishes and gave us no side dishes as we usually get. Overall, I used to love eating at ohgane. I still would visit again but only if I don't get him as a server. His service ruined our meal entirely. read more

For the $33.95/pp all day, me and another person at my table don't think it was worth it. It was very hot outside the day we went in July 2024. When we dined there, seemed like the air conditioning wasn't working. It was very smoky and hot inside the restaurant. It was hard for me to enjoy my meal. We had five people dining and only 3 or 4 of us were really able to grill the meat. I did not get any chance to grill at all because I was sitting at the end of the table. The smoke was overwhelming because it was so hot inside the restaurant. The amount of meat that I ate was only about one whole piece of meat. Two servers helped us but the second server was the best one because he was nicer and even had a smile on his face whereas the first server looked like he didn't even want to be working there and he had a little bit of a rude attitude. Love love love Ohgane! I was taken care of by DJ. Her service, knowledge and attention to detail is amazing. I wasn't quite sure what to order so she gave me options and it did not disappoint. The food is high quality. I started with the chicken then felt like seafood so I ordered the octupus and calamari which was really good. I also love that they serve soju! The restaurant is clean and very well ran. Every time I go back, I will make sure DJ is working as I would like to always sit in her section to get because I know I will get excellent service. I wasn't sure if we were going to be rushed for dinner, but they were staying open later than we thought. My Foodie and I were surprised at how many people were out but then we forgot it was still a Friday night....so anyway ..we were escorted thru front of the restaurant were we thought we would stop at a table Ah no... we kept walking and walking thru hallways till we reached this extra dining room. Thankfully there we people already eating there cause we we getting a little "spicius" as to why the only two black women in here couldn't eat in the front. Turned out it was faster getting served cause there were more available servers to tables in the other room. At the table you'll find about 8 little trays of condiments such as radish, Kikuchi, and cilantro. You get a choice of 5 meats along with assorted veggies . white rice, rice paper and the best butter leaf lettuce. Also in easy drip shaker bottles on the table come chilli sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce and dont forget that salt/ pepper mix! The servers were attentive and fast, so dinning was super enjoyable. When your bill comes they give you some tiny bottles of what looks like Yakult...that digestive mildly drink to help you not be in a meat coma later on...so that was cute! Ohgane got game. Came here with two of my friends for dinner at around 1630 hours on a Sunday and we arrived before the place was packed with lines out the door. Never heard of this place before, but it was my friend's recommendation. Apparently, one of their locations is Michellin-rated, which opened in Oakland in 2005 and the other location is Alameda. This place is smoky so be prepared to be smelling like BBQ smoke on your way out. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's better than smelling like a cigarette smoke. Scan the QR Code to get to the menu, which seems to be the norm nowadays. Makes perfect sense and it's also very cost-effective. AYCE price is $28.95 per person and they offer good-quality meats, seafood, poultry, veggies, sides and soups. You can order 5 meats at a time along with whatever sides you want, not including the banchan. Our first server (male) was forgetful and didn't bring us hot tea, rice and the soups that we ordered. He also forgot to turn on the half of the burner and had to wait longer for the grill to heat up. Thankfully, he was replaced by another server (female) who was more attentive, friendlier and helpful. She was also on top of the grill replacement as soon as it started to cake up from the burn marks. The meat selection is very impressive and I just wished we could have ordered more smartly as we tended to order the same thing. But that was the distraction of having good company and great conversation. Next time I'll definitely go straight for the high-quality meats and try to sample as much as we can. Don't get me wrong, we ate a lot of meat and seafood, but there is only so much one can eat with three mouths. Unlike some other AYCE places, the brisket didn't dry up and crumble when grilled and these stayed together and had a nice meaty flavor. The selection of pork was also excellent with spicy and garlic as added option. The spicy soup was delicious and just the right amount of kick to balance it out. The Japchae had a nice crisp and bounce to it with a delicious flavor. The only thing I didn't like was their version of kimchee, which was on the way too sweet side. Luckily, they had a bottle of chili sauce to counter the sweetness, but it wasn't balanced. Overall, I was impressed and will definitely have a return date with the fam and wifey. Max 2 hours and can only get 5 items at a time (anything on the menu: meats and rice). The lettuce wasn't an option on the actual menu part but they do have it. 3.5 stars! I've been to Ohgane numerous of times in Oakland, but this was my first time at their Concord location. I arrived with a party of 4 around dinner time on a weekday. There was no wait and we were able to get seated quickly. We looked forward to their AYCE Korean BBQ. It's reasonably priced for the variety of food items they offer ranging from meats, veggies, seafood, and stews. However, I have to admit the quality of their meat isn't the greatest; a lot of the pieces we received were super fatty or tough. Service was decent, but slow at times. I saw some of the staff on their phones, which is fine since it wasn't that busy, but I wish they were just a smidge bit more attentive as our grill and banchan tended to be empty. The restaurant itself is large and spacious with minimal decor. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of their close seating, although they do check vaccination cards. I would imagine they would space tables out or sit parties at every other table, but we were right next to our neighbors, which was kind of uncomfortable. Another thing that was a little worrisome were the slippery floors from the grease. Just be careful when entering/leaving the restaurant or making your way to the restroom. Usually a spot me and the family like to go to for AYCE kbbq. I find this spot easier to find parking than Oakland one. Place is usually busy with a signup list up front. On a busy day it can take up to an hour to be seated. Food service for this particular visit was good and there's a bell you can ring to get their attention. The prices got more pricey and the banchan spread is typical of a kbbq spot. The meats were good, but can't compare to the Koreatown kbbq in LA . Ambiance can get kinda noisy. Be careful for the floors since it can get slippery from the oil splatters of different tables. Overall, it's been a usual spot to hit my kbbq cravings for now. read more

That was unfortunate. They give you this button to press to summon the servers. Kinda cool. We were brought to the back of the restaurant. Kinda like an extended room. The seatings were ok. Not the most comfortable seats. The restaurant was smokey from everyone's BBQing and it was loud in there. The food was good. The tofu soup was bold and flavorful. The Korean egg soufflé was yummy. We absolutely love this place. The food never disappoints and the service is always speedy and attentive. We typically eat on weekdays, not so much on weekends, and it has always been pleasant. Very quiet and definitely less smokey. One of the two only issues. Recently they changed their menu and have either regular or premium options. I wish they'd bring back their lunch special pricing. They'd be taking my money every week if they did lol! Expect to walk out carrying the smell of Ohgane due to the rapid charring of the grills and the smoke blowing in our direction. (An issue that we don't really have at Jong Ga House; we typically only get 2 grill changes per visit). I'd say I visit Ohgane more often still and these cons dont necessarily make me go elsewhere. We went on a Friday night around 7pm and we're seated right away. The restaurant is large, and despite all the cooking it isn't very smoky at all (which is a plus). You can order up to 5 meats at a time for all you can eat. They have a big selection. We stuck with brisket, beef belly, pork belly, spicy bulgogi and beef tongue. All the meats were nice and thin. The marinated meat was very good also! I enjoyed the porkbelly with a side of ssamjang. The table comes with a big bottle of sesame oil, brisket sauce, and salt and pepper which is very convenient. The banchan were all very tasty, but my favorite was the Kimchee The servers were very attentive. We met up with a friend (for a party of 3) at 5:30pm on a Saturday. There were 5 or 6 parties ahead of us when we signed in. Wait time wasn't bad, maybe 15-20 mins? Glad we're old and eat dinner early because this place started poppin after 6:00. Agree with a previous reviewer -- the floors can be slippery. I saw more than one person do a little slide but thankfully didn't fall. Service was ... ok. Banchan (those delicious snacky side dishes) was already on the table when we got there. They seemed moderately fresh. We really wish our server had given instructions on how to order, suggestions, how to use the grill, etc. We got nothing from him, hardly a hello. He was definitely not chatty, but possibly just rushed since it was crowded. We ordered waters (which took a while to arrive), and a bunch of meats (because you don't come to KBBQ for vegetables, lol). Overall, everything tasted rather bland, and the bottles of seasons and sauces really didn't enhance the food much. Also, would've been nice if there were labels for what was in the condiment bottles. One appeared to be just salt and pepper. We ordered two a la carte dishes during our second round of ordering. We ordered the fried rice and potstickers. They didn't arrive until AFTER we'd received and paid the check. We had totally forgotten about them. And I'm guessing our server had forgotten too, because both dishes were cold. The potstickers were doughy and chewy, and wouldn't have been good even if hot. But the fried rice may have been my favorite thing we ate. It's a pity I couldn't eat more of it because I was too full. And there's no such thing as to-go boxes :( Restroom was clean and well stocked! Looking back, this is more like a 2.5 star, but I'll round up for the reasonable AYCE prices. It's $28.95 per person regardless if you come during lunch or dinner. Kids AYCE from ages 3-7 is $14.48. They have a pretty good selection of meats, vegetables, and small plates. One thing I love about this place is you can place half orders! It allowed me to try other kinds of meats/foods and not worry about wasting it if I didn't like it. The only thing I didn't like was how the brisket was brought out, it was frozen. It made it really difficult to cook but it still tasted good! Because it wasn't busy, service was awesome! The Premium AYCE is to die for! The old fashioned Galbi both marinated and non-marinated are excellent so tender and very well marbled. The beef tartare is super good and refreshing. Scallops are huge and awesome we mix it with the butter garlic shrimps (I just wish they wouldn't put sugar to the butter garlic seasoning. It was better before. Cold noodles were great too. Surprisingly, the fried chicken wings soy sauce flavor was also good. Service is always great and I inside is nicer and brighter after they remodeled. There are some limitations such as you can only order five items per order including rice and sides. But the food comes super fast, you just need to catch a waitor to order haha What I liked- they have lots of premium meats such as cube steak, finger meat and la kalbi for you to order as much as you want. They taste amazing, well marinated and meat was fresh. Beef tongue wasn't as tough as some other kbbq joints so that is great. Bulgogi marinate was very fragrant and tasty! The meh: so their sides are not that great. The French fry tastes old, the fried chicken wasn't crispy and they often forget your side orders or they run out or they take forever to come. I had very high hopes for this establishment as I've heard nothing but good things about their Alameda location and I am a very avid Kbbq goer...but to be honest the service was bad and the meat was subpar. Waiters and the guy who sat us probably uttered no more than 2 words to us the entire night and aggressively were placing dishes onto our table, no eye contact or courtesy to acknowledge our existence, as if this was solely a business transaction. For the price you pay it'd be nice to not feel like a burden. (This was also a random weekday and they were not busy at all) The brisket was all frozen fat pieces unevenly shaved and completely melted on the grill leaving the tiniest of speck for us to share not to mention the huge flame flare ups that happened frequently bc of that. (See photos) The finger ribs were chewy as heck and the squid had a funky bitterness to it. I will say portion sizes are bigger than most places but keep in mind their website states they charge for leftover meat. To be honest it's difficult for me to speak towards the quality of Korean BBQ place as it's mostly just unlimited uncooked meat and for the most part, if the meat is cooked wrong it's your fault. I will say, the service is good and there was a large selection of different meats, with the crowd favorites like brisket and pork belly, among many others. Their selections of sides were pretty good and I quite enjoyed the radish paper and kimchi. The one thing to note is that this place does not have air conditioning or at least they did not when I was there. ***3.5 Stars*** A solid AYCE KBBQ experience! I've been to the Ohgane location in Oakland, but this was my first time having their AYCE dining experience. This review is actually suuuper overdue, but I definitely owe them one. Came here with a group last year right before the big pandemic hit, and we all had a pretty good time. We made a reservation in advance to avoid the long wait times (right now their closed for dining, but I'd highly suggest you make reservations for any future dine-in experiences). They give you a two hour window for your reservation and you can order whatever you'd like off of the menu. We ordered several meat and appetizer dishes. Most of the meats that they provided were good lean cuts. I enjoyed just about all of the meats, but the short ribs and Bulgogi were my favorite. Also really enjoyed the mussel appetizers. They were so good! They didn't really provide a huge variety when it came to the banchan. But what they lacked in the banchan, they made up for in appetizers. The one thing that was lackluster was the service. It started off decent, but ended up being extremely slow during the remainder of the evening. We got there around 6 pm and left after 8, so it was quite busy. However, the dude who was assisting our table disappeared for long periods of time and never really checked in on us. We had to flag him down several times to order more at and to get water refills. What's the point of AYCE when you can't even find a server to order more food? It was really quite annoying. Other than that, I had a nice experience. I wouldn't mind coming back again when they are open again for sit down dining. I'm just hoping that the service is much better next time. read more
